I've been using Pet Chauffeur for many years now, and it is remarkably efficient and easy to use. The drivers are always polite, on-time, and very careful to ensure a safe ride for your pooch. (Their ability to constantly be on-time is actually sortof astonishing, considering Manhattan traffic.) Once you've used them, they know you, you don't have to give them all the information again, "She's going back to 72nd Street" or whatever, and they have it down. My dog actually looks forward to the arrival of the van, and hops right in. It ain't cheap. But it saves the enormous hassle of trying to get a cab to stop for you and your animal, the return trip, having to pack the dog up for an Uber, etc. And the folks you deal with on the phone are courteous and responsive. Once I needed a ride for my dog earlier than their posted hours...they checked around, and were able to find a driver who could handle that hour, within about 30 seconds. That's what I mean....they go out of their way to serve you. Awesome company and people! read more

Vans are comfortable and clean. Don't feel like you are sitting in allergy hell. I used them twice yesterday. Both drivers were friendly to me and my dogs and most importantly I felt safe as a passenger. They didn't drive like a race car, no jerky movements. 2 problems though: 1 - SO, SO, SO, SO, SOOOOO expensive. Four times what it would cost for a yellow taxi. 2.- Round trip rides should have a discount. 3. - Repeat customers should get a discounted ride after x many trips. -- just saying. read more

I have only used Pet Chauffeur for deliveries of food and supplies, so I can't speak to their pet taxi service. But if their online store service offers any indication, you might want to look elsewhere for pet transportation. I was at first impressed with P.C., but with each order my opinion worsened. The food I want is always - always - out of stock. And instead of notifying me to let me know this, they simply hold the entire order. It's up to the customer to follow up and, if necessary, request delivery of in-stock items (which they will do at no additional charge). And if P.C. tells you something will be in "next Wednesday," that means next Friday, earliest. Which means you won't see it until the following Tuesday or Wednesday - providing you call and remind them you're still waiting. On the plus side, someone is almost always there to answer the phones, and they are always friendly. Unfortunately that doesn't help when the kids are out of kibble. read more

The folks at Pet Chauffeur offer a great service and they're a pleasure to work with. I made an initial request at 3PM on a Monday afternoon and I needed a pet-friendly ride for Lucky, a huge golden retriever, and I to the ASPCA hospital for the next morning at 9AM. I made the request on their website online, and then followed up with a phone call, since my request required less than 24 hours turn around. Within 15 minutes, everything was all set up. The ride itself was great too. The driver was a really nice guy and also very helpful. He knows the city well. He actually hit a little traffic, and was going to arrive 10 minutes later than planned. He called me 15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time to let me know. He then followed up wtih a second phone call when he was a couple of minutes away. This is NYC and I needed a ride during rush hour. I gave myself plenty of time, because traffic happens (or rather, exists in perpetuity). I actually arrived about 20 minutes early for our appointment. Most importantly, the communication allowed me to plan accordingly. As it turns out, Lucky needs a little surgery to remove a growth on his paw. He has to be back at the animal hospital between 7-8AM the following day. Again, I urgently needed transportation for us. Taken care of with an email exchange that took less than 10 minutes. On top of all that, the costs are very reasonable. I can't say enough positive things about my experience. read more

After a fairly awful experience with Pet Taxi (driver 1 hour late, then went to Washington Ave. instead of Washington St.,) Pet Chauffeur was a breath of fresh air. David was able to quote me a realistic time for pickup, and then for every experience thereafter, it was on-time, clean, and pleasant. Additionally, I left my phone in one of their cars when I was accompanying my dog home one evening. They made every effort to get in touch with me, and ultimately reunited me with my phone in less than 20 hours. My 85 lb labrador Rocky also loves them - each driver seems like an actual dog person. They've helped this arthritic dog in the van many times (I'm talking about Rocky but sometimes also me). In short, I can't recommend them more. read more

He was able to send one of their clean mini vans (with plenty of room for my incapacitated great dane!) in a reasonable amount of time. I had the best experience with David at Pet Chauffeur. I had to move my 90 year old mother and her cat to an Assisted Living Facility across town. I'm in Los Angeles and my mom lives in New York City so it was a delicate situation which the Pet Chauffeur guys handled perfectly. Everything went according to plan and -- as an extra bonus -- David, the owner, was completely sympathetic, since he had recently been through a similar experience himself. Hired pet chauffeur to help move my dog from NYC to Australia. I did all the medical paperwork, they essentially had to book her flight and drive her to JFK. To my horror, their representative James booked my dog's flight on the wrong date, and tried to cover it up with a lie before ultimately getting busted. What's worse - instead of telling my right away he had me wait for him at home on the planned departure date (making me take time off work), only to show up in person to tell me my dog wasn't flying that day. You may save a few dollars using these guys, but definitely not worth the stress - for international pet transport you should use someone else. read more

They are an excellent alternative to trying to find a taxi with my pets, as taxis are usually reluctant to pick me up with my dogs. The staff is kind and responsive, from those manning the phone lines to the drivers who are happy to help put your pets in the super clean mini vans. PC will even wait for you and provide a return trip making the experience even easier. They are available at a moments notice and do everything in their power to get you where you need to be as quickly as possible. Really awful customer service. I needed to cancel my reservation and change it for another day, but wasn't able to get through to anyone even though I gave them 24 hours notice. The phone number on their website didn't work and my emails got no response. The driver still showed up on the day of my reservation and sounded surprised that I had canceled it. When I tried to rebook my reservation, they had the dates wrong, even though I had gone over it multiple times, and at this point I was too frustrated to continue on. For the extremely high price of their services in Manhattan, I would hope for better customer service. read more

Felt compelled to write a review because of how poor the customer service was. Not to be confused with the driver who was super nice, early and got my dog to the destination safely!!! I got an online quote of $80 and was charged $102 so called to find out why. Apparently I forget to check the box 'inside manhattan' for a pick up in NYC and drop off in NJ (the check boxes are misleading and confusing - & the algorithm should determine pickup/dropoff inside or outside by the address you entered). Instead of the guy explaining to me the confusion and offering honoring the original quote (which I also confirmed over the phone prior to booking) since this was my first time using the service, he started telling me I'm one of 3 out of 5000 people that use his site that didnt understand and some people shouldnt be using the computer. And actually he undercharged me! And should have charged me more..."So how do you want to take care of this? I can charge you more or take it out of the drivers gratuity." I said are you joking? You shouldnt do either - it's not the drivers fault nor mine. He said ok I will take it out of the dispatchers pay - and I told him its not fair to penalize people, obviously his website is confusing, to which he said his grandma doesnt use computer - so I just hung up. We boarded our dog here in May 2010. Our dog was left outside unsupervised for an hour and a half. She jumped their fence and was hit by a car. Pet Chauffeur never called us to tell us she had runaway. We were contacted by animal control. Our dog broke her hip and pelvis and may never have use of her left hind leg and the Pet Chauffeur is refusing to pay our vet costs. THEY HAVE NO INSURANCE! Please do yourself and your pet a favor and do not board here. We do not anyone to go through the nightmare that we are going through. read more

A bit pricey but worth every penny to get my injured dog across midtown to see a specialist on a rainy weekday morning at the height of rush hour. I booked the ride over the web the night before, got confirmation that evening. The driver, Julio, showed up early, was courteous, kind, helpful and a fellow pet parent. I had a very complicated transport today for my very sick cat. It involved going to the ASPCA in the city at 92nd Street, from Brooklyn (in Crown Heights.) The cat was supposed to be dropped of while I stayed at work. But...the hospital wouldn't take the cat without me being present ..(which I thought had been worked out with the ASPCA previously.) So there my cat and Pet Chauffeur were, waiting for a resolution which involved phone calls and a considerable wait time, but nothing worked out and my cat had to be brought back to Brooklyn. This was a really stressful situation .... and Pet Chauffeur stuck it out with the best support that could be managed. And at a very reasonable price I believe. read more

Any dog owner living in Manhattan knows how difficult it can be to get your dog into a taxi. Most cabbies will simply not stop for those of us with dogs, especially large ones. I can't say enough good things about Pet Chauffeur. I have a two year old 85 pound Lab who has had orthopedic surgery and extensive rehab which has required multiple trips from the Upper West Side to Animal Medical Center. We have experienced every driver in every season and situation and they have been on time or early 100% of the time, no exception. Every driver has been patient and skilled with a very rambunctious and unruly Lab, provided a smooth and safe ride every time and I have even gotten very valuable training tips. I used Pet Chauffeur for 2 round trips from my apartment in Washington Heights to a veterinary hospital in November 2015. My large pit bull mix was having major surgery for the first time and I had no way of getting him to & from the visits (first round-trip was a pre-op visit, second round-trip was the day of actual surgery). Pet Chauffeur was amazing during all 4 pick ups. For 3 of the pick ups they were a few minutes early, which was nice. The one time a driver was running late, he called me 10 minutes before to say he'd be there about 10 minutes late. He then arrived by the time stated. I appreciated the phone call so I wasn't wondering where the car was. Also, after my dog had surgery the driver took out a ramp for my dog to get in & out of the car. The driver was very patient and encouraging since my dog was in pain and took him several minutes to take any steps into or out of the car. And speaking of the drivers, all the ones I encountered were friendly and personable. I'm glad I discovered this service because I got tired of calling several other livery cab services only to be hung up on or turned down immediately once they knew I'd have a large dog with me.
