SCAM. Hired Armando.Pest Control Chicagoland to address a mice issue in my condo. He said it's one of the "easiest issues to treat." I made an appointment with him to come and as part of his service fee, it comes with a 90 day guarantee, to return and retreat should it persist. He came and treated the unit and in a week, more mice were spotted. I called and left a voicemail. Since this time, multiple mouse spotting have been seen, multiple phone calls and texts and he didn't return. I had my partner call him and he answered. They agreed on a scheduled time for him to come back and retreat and he pulled a no-show. Don't waste your time and your money on this company. Stick with a real pest control company with a real reputation. read more

They came out and provided me initial service with a rodent problem, then after setting the traps never honored their follow up appointments. This company also refused to return my calls and texts when looking for updates if they are going to come out and follow up on their scheduled service times. No calls were received that they were going to miss the service windows and no one reached to reschedule. After multiple failed attempts to reach them, I went a head and reached out and reported them to the Better Business Bureau for being complete frauds. I used them about 3 weeks ago. For one they are liars. I called to inquire about a mouse issue I had and asked if they exterminate for roaches as well. They told me yes. I ask for a quote because I needed to exterminate for both roaches and mice. They told me $200. When Henry came he "put" baits in my living room and my basement. I was not bothering him while he was in the basement. I told him it was a mouse on a trap I caught the day before but I'm scared to get it can he get it. I told him when it was and everything. After he was done "putting down" the bait stations with "bait" inside he told me $200. I said what are you using for the roaches? He said he didn't know anything about that and that would be extra. I said that's not what I was quoted. He said I'll do it this one time because maybe it was a communication error with my partner. He put some little poison in the cabinets and by the bathroom sink. I paid him and gave him a tip. Once he left i went in the basement that dead mouse was still where I told him to get it even though he made it seem like he got it. He also put a bait station ON my couch which was weird because why would you want to attract a mouse onto my couch. He also took my glue traps up and recommended to not leave glue traps down so the mice could eat the poison and take some back to their nesting area. The next week while I was cleaning my basement one of the bait stations top popped open and I notice no bait was in there. Mind you I saw the "baits" they were suppose to be using and they are in a small wrapping paper that the mice bite into. By me realizing this it made sense why he would put the station on my couch because wasn't any bait inside to attract the mice in the first place. I called Armando and asked why its not any baits in majority of these bait stations. They said the mice are eating them. I said that can't be true because mice are not taking the PLASTIC wrapping with them. He lied and said they do that too. Not in almost every bait station. So I made a follow up appointment because they are suppose to give you that for FREE. They had the nerve to say they would come the next Friday even though usually they charge. Today is the day and they refuse to answer the phone and haven't confirmed they were coming or anything. And still haven't showed up! I do not recommend them because they are unprofessional! They are liars and if you are not WATCHING what they are doing they are going to try to get over. The reason he took up my glue traps is because he KNEW wasn't any baits In majority of those stations so therefore the mice would still be in my home and it would force me to have to pay for them to come out again. They are deceitful and don't use this company! I RECOMMEND GOING TO THE PEST STORE ON 18th and HALSTED and get the steel wool and baits THEY USE and if it's bugs they have the same stuff UPDATE:Let me respond to Armando smart remark. Paper or not THERE WERE NOT ANY BAITS IN NONE OF THE BAIT TRAPS! The issue was not bad to the point NO BAIT and all paper would be gone your partner said the mice would sometimes "take" the paper with them that's why they aren't in the traps. They ARE NOT DOING THAT WITH EVERY TRAP! You guys are frauds and you know you guys are frauds! You steal people money and don't do what you CONTRACTUALLY said you were going to do! A member in our condo association hired Armando for a rat in his unit. To cure the underlying problem, Armando patched (or sub'd out to patch) holes around our association, two of which were 4-5 inch wide drain pipes. Come the first major rain this spring, the water built up until it overflowed into a separate unit owner's condo causing $10k of damage. The negligent act of filling obvious drain pipes with concrete is one thing, but then Armando COMPLETELY avoided all contact with our management company and individual unit owners who are trying to resolve the issue. I contracted Armando to removed squirrels that nested in our porch and purchased a 3 month squirrel removal program with the guarantee that trapped animals will be picked up and released within 24 hours of contacting him. Called, texted, emailed with no response. He will leave trapped animals to either freeze/starve to death in cages or force you to relocate them yourself. Do not use his services. As others have mentioned, it is extremely difficult to get this company to complete the job. They show up in the event of an emergency, bait and trap, and charge for expedited services. However, the follow-up is non existent. I have also heard the "dog contracted botulism" excuse and I understood, but there has been a string of unanswered calls and texts, about a months worth now, for this service to complete what they have started. I have already paid for the entire service, which is frustrating. I just calculated that I have spent 1,440 on this company in the last 3 months, and I am still experiencing problems with rodents in my unit. Armando came promptly and at short notice late at night, set bait traps and sticky paper down. He charged us $550 for 12 bait boxes inside two outside, which we thought was extremely expensive. We found the live mouse trapped on the sticky paper the next morning and called/texted multiple times to no avail. Had to remove it ourselves. The lack of response was very frustrating. They do not finish the job! I contacted them for a rat problem in my yard. They quoted me $300 to put out bait traps and this included a follow up appointment to refill them. The day they were supposed to come, no one showed up. He called later that day and said that his dog had gotten sick. I understood and we rescheduled. He came to the initial appointment and placed 3 bait traps, filled them up, etc. We scheduled an appointment the following week for him to come back and refill them. He sent a confirmation text and it was written on the reciept. The day of the appointment came and went. I tried calling, emailing, texting, and sending messages through their Facebook page but they will not respond. Very disappointing. read more

Unfortunately we had bed bug problems. At first we had someone from Orkin because that's our apartment building's recommendation. Apparently that person was incompetent to find anything. Then my husband kept getting more and more bites, so we found Pest Control Chicagoland on Yelp and decided to have a second opinion. They had someone come the day after I called to do the inspection, and of course, Mike found two bed bugs!!! He told us what to do with the clothes, which was, washing everything! Then the next day, Juan came for the first extermination. He told us we had local infestation, so nothing serious to worry about. That gave me peace of mind because I was contemplating throwing away all the living room furniture... Two weeks later, Ray came to do the follow up. He was a little bit too talkative for a Saturday morning at 9am. But I think he did a good job because not only he sprayed the bed again, he always sprayed our hardwood floor for preventative measures. Again, that gave me peace of mind. Great service, as in one and done and the problem was gone. (That's my coined term, so don't reuse it for advertising unless I get some royalties) Found their reviews on Yelp while searching pest control. Reviews seemed decent and placed a call. The guys were out to the site by the weekend. Their was an initial estimate over the phone and then the price was reduced a little due to the number of residences I needed sprayed. So for those of you that own apartment buildings or do property management, the more work you give the better the price. As far as rates go, these guys are on the pricier side but what I love about the work is that its above standard. They do the walk and talk according to their routine, discussing important details with you and your tenants about prevention tips, etc. Also, having a guarantee for work is also a privilege. After the spraying, my tenants were happy and requested that we call them again. During that visit one residence was missed due to the tenant oversleeping, so I've got to follow up with them to get that one sprayed. For weeks afterward the place was clear of pests. The company suggested following up with additional sprays which I will have to schedule. I decided to share this review with Yelp because I found their reviews here and it worked for the best. Previously, I had a service contract with another company listed on Yelp whom has decent reviews, but they sucked SO BADLY. To the point where instead of spraying as agreed upon, they would use the gel stick in two areas of the residence as opposed to spraying everywhere. Gel works in areas where there isn't as much need, I agree. But, if I've paid for both types of service, it should always be available to my residents by their request. Also, after sprays it seemed as if they used honey in the medicine because the residents complained of seeing more pests than usual or pests when there wasn't a problem. We had some raccoons move into the neighborhood and had to call someone to trap and remove them. Pest Control Chicagoland came quickly and laid a trap. We initially caught a rat and called for pickup, but received no response. We currently have a raccoon in the trap and haven't heard from them in over a week. Being stranded with a raccoon in a trap is a really bad way to treat a paying customer. We now are out the fee and have to deal with a raccoon in a cage by ourselves. Terrible service. read more

Update: After speaking with the Illinois Department of Public Health, which regulates the pest control agency in the state, we found that Pest Control Chicagoland is not licensed anymore and has not been for several months. One person came and spoke nicely and kept the mouse traps and promised to come back after 2 weeks to seal the wall and replace the traps but requested that full payment be made. I trusted and made the full payment and this was in March. After that they kept on delaying the second visit and never came back in spite of multiple calls/messages. Pathetic service, terrible product! We have a rat issue and all they did was put Home Depot CARDBOARD ''bait stations'' down, and collect a ridiculous fee. No follow up. No explanation, other than the very generic '' you should stop the points of entry'' ( for another 75$ we will tell you where they are ) and oh, by the way to fix the points of entry is extra. They wanted 150$ to move the washing machines and some boxes to ''investigate'' possible entry points of a secure cinderblock wall!!! What !!??? I called Smithereen, and they put better stations, and gave me 2 follow-up visits, and a reassessment of the situation, while removing several baited traps. Rude stupid bill collector / receptionist calls constantly and demands payment with NO INVOICE, I asked twice for it to be mailed. NO WAY I am giving this company my credit card info. Poor customer service, ineffective products I called this company about a centipede problem I was having. They charged me $150 to come out and spray my two bedroom condo. 2 weeks later I called them and left a message to ask why I was seeing way more centipedes (that were alive and well) than I ever had before. No one called me back. Eventually I decided to go to The Bug Stop on Halsted which is a pest control place that sells the exact same insecticides that exterminators use. The guy there told me about a pesticide called DemonMax and told me how to dilute it and where to spray it. It costed $30. I sprayed my place and the next day saw dead centipedes everywhere. I say don't bother with these guys. I should give them 5 stars for teaching me that I can and should definitely do my own pest control. read more

Every spring my house is visited by those little little ants. I have used Pest Control Chicagoland for the past 4 or 5 years - They always had done a good job, and I have been satisfied - up till now. Last week after the warm weather and rain, the ants came. I learned it's best to call for service the first time I see them.So, I called Pest Control Chicagoland - left a message - received a call back the next morning from Armando - scheduled appt for the following evening for between 5:30 & 7:30. Left work early. Nobody came. I called at 7:45 and left message asking for a call back. I called again the next morning and left another message. Five days later - nothing. What the .......? A little back story: One night (morning) in July, 2011, I came home from work at 3:00AM to find hundreds, if not thousands, of swarming/flying ants sneaking under a miniscule crack under my back door and flying all over my kitchen counter. Like a scene from a Stephen King novel! I vacuumed and sprayed - for about 6 days!! It seemed like they'd never go away. I tried everything I could to cover/repair the crack and spray in every possible place, all to no avail. They kept coming in. I was afraid to go into the kitchen in the morning. Finally, I guess mating season was over and they went away. Now, June, 2012. Happens again. This time, I decided a professional was in order. I came on Yelp and found Pest Control Chicagoland. I have never used a pest control company before, mainly because I have this (probably irrational) fear that they will bring vials of pests to make sure they maintain the account and steady visits. The next day after calling, Cesar came out. Gave me tips on how to prevent the critters from getting in. He also emphatically admonished me for spraying store-bought pest killing chems. He said they only kill on the spot and don't get to the queen so that the troupe dies out. He sprays outside and minimally inside. (I have cats, so he was VERY careful!) Within 12 hours, NO MORE BUGS!! It's now August, 2012. Not only have I not seen any swarmers, but there haven't been any other crawly critters (centipedes, silver fish, spiders, etc.) that I have had a small problem with over the years. To sum it up, I can't recommend these guys enough! They didn't treat the problem, they SOLVED it! Professional, courteous and friendly. They guarantee their work and are VERY reasonably priced. I brought back bed bugs from a trip to Peru and contacted Pest Control Chicagoland based on Yelp's reviews to help me get rid of them. They recommended that I get my apartment sprayed twice for a guaranteed removal of the all the bugs. Their pricing was good - $350 for the first spray and $200 for a follow up for a large one bed room apartment. They were able to come spray my apartment on the day I first called which was incredibly convenient. The first appointment was really helpful and they explained everything I would need to do over the next few weeks to make sure I eliminated the infestation. I scheduled a follow up appointment for one week later, and that is where my trouble began. I scheduled an appointment for 8:00 AM. The day of the appointment arrived, and by 8:30 AM they had not showed up and I did not hear anything from them. I called, explained that nobody showed up for my appointment, and they said they would look into it. I did not hear back from them for almost an hour, at which point I was told that they were sending a technician who was finishing up his first appointment. Apparently, they forgot about my appointment. It ended up being 3.5 hours after my scheduled appointment time before a technician finally arrived. Overall I would rate the experience at 4 stars due to the inconveniences with the second appointment. The pricing is good and and their treatment is effective (bed bug free!), but clearly their customer service and scheduling could use some improvement. read more

I had called Men in Black Pest Control to help with a rodent problem (used them last time for pest control and had a great experience) but they weren't able to get us an appointment until the next morning. I called Pest Control Chicagoland and they were able to squeeze me in at the end of the same day. They arrived on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, and were really pleasant to work with. Very polite gentleman answered my call and we set the date and time to have my place inspected. However, on the time of appointment no one showed up. the guy who was supposed to be there to inspect and suggest what to do to get rid of mice, would answer my nor the dispatchers calls.... 2 hours later he showed up. The job was properly done, he inspected the perimeter to makes sure there aren't any openings for the mice to get in and did a good job. Once the job was completed he gave me a receipt and wanted me to pay right on the spot, either cash or credit card. I told him no one told me about this beforehand that i was expected to pay right away! I didn't even have my walled with me! He called the headquarters and the lady who talked to me was extremely rude. In my everyday business deals I have never seen anyone asking for payment right on the spot; unless it is otherwise mentioned beforehand and expected. I refused to pay and told them they should expect the check in the mail the following day *(which I did!) These folks are not professional, the owner seems to know what he is doing but his wife or whomever is taking care of the finances needs a reality check. once people stop calling them, that will be a reality check enough. Also; we all make appointments because we are busy and each and one has things to do. If you can't show up at certain time call the customer back and let him know! don't show up two hours after appointment! and try to answer rather than ignoring customers and boss' calls.... read more

Derrick Walker is my hero!! The city has been tearing up our streets, displacing our neighborhood "cement ants". They decided to move in with us and camp out in our window frame. UNINVITED. I was up til sunrise vaccuuming and spraying them with every home remedy possible. Thought I actually finished them off. Turns out it was just the sunrise that did it. Night two was the same long story. I was sleepless and starting to hallucinate. Called Pest Control on a Saturday, and they weren't sure if they would be able to get a same day appointment. Then, Derrick Walker called and said he was on his way! He eased my nerves (and I was pretty insane by this point), and poured a nice mixture of some goodies down the windowsill openings. I finally got a good night's sleep. So, he did the job, which was good enough for me, but then he actually called on Monday to check on the situation and make sure everything was good (which it was). I'm very annoyed with this company right now, so maybe it will change... that is, if they EVER make it here. We hired them to spray for ants in early January. They took care of it for the most part, but we found that one room was still plagued with ants and were worried that it would spread again. So we called to set up an appointment for the first Friday of March around 1pm. Unfortunately, I had something come up so I called early in the morning the day of to let them know I had to reschedule because I wasn't sure I'd be back in time. Scott said it was completely fine and we'd reschedule for the following Friday. 3 o'clock rolls around and I'm on the train underground; when I emerge, I have a voice mail from Mike, telling me he'd be at my place in 20 minutes. Uh, what? I call back, no answer; I call Scott, no answer. Awesome. About 20 minutes later, Mike finally calls back and I explain that I did cancel earlier; he says, "No one told me, but at least I still get paid." Okay, fine... and then like two hours later, Scott calls back and I explain what happened and he just shrugged it off. Fast forward to today: I have a busy schedule today with my sister's wedding, but I want this taken care of so I set aside the morning to make sure I have time since they said 9-12. As I'm moving stuff out of the room that needs attention, I get a call from Scott telling me that they can't make it because they have a problem with one of the vehicles - he says they can't make it out until mid-afternoon between 2-4. I rearranged a doctor's appointment to be able to fit these guys into my schedule and my sister's wedding is at 3 and they call an hour into the allotted time they suggested?? Now my entire schedule is thrown off because of this and they won't get the job done, again. As I said, I'm quite annoyed at the moment - if they had gotten the job done right the first time, none of this would be happening.
