This building has been here over 80 years and has had numerous businesses in residence that did not last. Originally a drug store with a soda fountain, it's now a quaint little diner with a limited diner menu. Walked in around one pm and was seated immediately. Server took our drink order and was ready for our meal order when she dropped them off. I asked for the steak finger basket and my wife had the Philly steak sandwich. Both had options for fries, mashed potatoes, or tater tots. My steak finger basket was excellent; crispy breading on three good sized steak fingers. The great part was this was real steak cut, breaded and deep fried, not pre-formed out of a plastic bag. The fries tasted good with a portion I could not eat all of them. The gravy was creamy and seasoned without the "flour" taste many have. Two diagonals of buttered toast rounded this plate out. My wife's
Philly steak was also served with a choice of sides, a pickle and a nicely stuffed dole with plenty of shaved ribeye in it. Comes with mayo, grilled onions and mozzarella cheese. Not traditional but it tasted amazing. The beef flavor came through instead of a heavy cheese taste. Very good meal overall. Dropped one star for the wait to get the food (it was crowded) and the lack of fountain drinks. They serve cans of soda with a glass of ice we appreciated, but it lacks the freshness of a fountain drink. They have daily specials, plenty of parking and a neat decor that shows off some of the old drugstore as it was 80 years ago. We will be back! read more
