Would be better if it was free since it's just an open space for pups to run around without wandering near the busy road.

The Baltimore City fenced in "dog park" is not worth the hassle of parking…read more Uneven paving, forget any sidewalks, tree stumps, and tree roots contribute to the uneven and hilly location. Locked toilet area. Overflowing large barrels for trash. So, WHAT EXACTLY was all the hoopla about getting this "dog park" installed? Just go to any dog park areas downtown and you will love the difference. Ground is taken care of, waste bags and receptacles in place. Like care and forethought were given. Definitely a community area.

I didn't see any info there on how to join. I suspect it's a neighbor running it who may not want people to join. Hard to say. Otherwise it's very odd that the only place with information on the park won't share it with the public. I almost gave up trying to join (and I literally live down the street), but then one day I saw this application at the library. It says to mail it in. I haven't tried yet. I hope that works. If not, then I have no idea how to get the gate code. It's almost like no one wants you to join. What a weird concept for a public dog park. Anyway attached is the application if it's helpful. FYI you need a city dog license and updated rabies cert to join (if you can figure out how to join!).

Me and my friends made a quick stop on the way home from brunch in the Cross Keys area, and the day was perfect for it. The park was alive with families and their furry friends just having small picnics and taking in the scenery. If you're not familiar with Sherwood Garden's, it's a privately owned community park in the Guilford section of Baltimore City. It's been famous for its annual tulip since the 1920's by John Sherwood, whose home bordered the park. To this day up to 70000 tulips are planted annually along with other flowers such as magnolias and dogwoods to name a few. Best time to visit is always towards the end of April and beginning of May. Although a private park, the public is always invited to stroll at your leisure throughout the grounds. The ongoing displays are 100% privately funded and depends entirely on contributions to fulfill its mission of providing a natural place for recreation for the community and related education.

There is no start or end, so just park on one of the surrounding streets and walk over. We were there the third weekend in April, and while the tulips were definitely past their peak, and many were completely gone, there were plenty of flower beds of tulips still blooming. Plus, almost all of the azaleas were blooming. I loved that they had so many different colored tulips and azaleas. They did different combination of colors in all the different flower beds, so we ended up seeing some surprisingly beautiful displays, even with some tulips no longer blooming. We weren't there very long because it was cold out, but this would be a great spot for engagement pictures or a picnic.

Apparently no children under the age of eight are allowed, although I did see a toddler in there. Your dog must wear a Baltimore city registration tag as well as their rabies tag which I can guarantee most of the dogs in there did not have on. Dogs must be over four months old to enter the dog park and if they're over nine months, they need to be neutered or spayed. I did not see any aggressive dogs. The other thing is they do not allow you to bring your own toys. There are water fountains for the dogs. There's also only street parking.
