I've been coming to the Perry Monge SalonSpa for over 25 years, and there's actually quite a story behind how I became such a loyal client! When I moved to Phoenix in 1997, I needed to find a good salon. I tried several different places and always seemed to leave disappointed. Then I had a particularly bad color experience at a salon in Chandler that left my hair slightly green and extremely damaged. I came to Perry hoping he could help fix it. It took several visits to get my hair healthy and looking normal again. Perry told me at the time that my hair had been so damaged I was lucky I hadn't lost some of it! That experience is what initially earned my trust and began a relationship with a stylist and salon that has now lasted more than 25 years. I started seeing Perry when the salon was located at the old Mercado Plaza. I followed them when they moved to the Collier Center, and then again in 2018 when they moved to their current location at CityScape. After all these years and three different locations, I'm obviously not going anywhere! The minute you walk through the door, you can tell it's an Aveda salon just by the scent in the air. I'm always greeted with a friendly smile, and one of the first things they ask is what I'd like to drink. My favorite is their iced cappuccino! The salon itself is beautiful, bright and incredibly clean. I love all of the windows and natural light. They also offer so many little extras that make getting your hair done feel like an experience rather than just an appointment. Before you even begin, you change into a smock and receive a back and scalp massage with your choice of uplifting or relaxing aromatherapy. Sometimes someone will even come around and offer a hand massage while you're having your hair done. Talk about being pampered! After all these years, Perry is still the only stylist I completely trust to cut my hair. He understands exactly how my hair naturally lays and knows how to cut it so that it works with my hair. That kind of knowledge and experience is hard to replace. Patricia and Alma have also been there for as long as I can remember, and after more than 25 years, everyone almost feels like family. There's a little full-circle story that always makes me smile. When my daughter was little, we would bring her wagon into the salon and she would sell Girl Scout cookies to the staff. Apparently, I also made the mistake of bringing her here for a haircut instead of one of those kids' salons where they sit in little cars and watch movies, because after that, this was the only salon she ever wanted to go to! Now she's 19 and comes to the same salon to see Alma for her cut and color, and she is always extremely happy with her results. There's something pretty special about watching your daughter grow up and eventually become a client at the same salon you've trusted for more than two decades. My only wish is that they were closer to me. I live in the Southeast Valley, so it's about a 30-minute drive for me to get to CityScape, but Perry is absolutely worth the drive. And if the thought of parking in downtown Phoenix makes you hesitate, don't let it. CityScape has underground parking, and the salon validates your parking ticket, which makes it very convenient. Beautiful salon, wonderful service, talented people and more than 25 years of great experiences and memories. Perry earned my trust all those years ago when he rescued my hair, and there's a reason I've continued making the drive to see him ever since. read more

I really wanted to give a nice review but even after getting my hair "fixed" my hair still looks horrible. I got a haircut with Jennifer (who normally does an incredible job) but messed me up. she cut more than i asked off and cut a huge chunk out of my front pieces. I went back to get it fixed by the owner Perry who tried to assist in fixing it but I later noticed more errors with the haircut. I went back for a second time to get it fixed and he argued with me about the haircut being uneven. I was hoping they were going to fix it but I just left feeling worse. The only positive is that they are processing a refund but I will not be returning. I have booked an appointment elsewhere to get it fixed. read more

I have gone here several times and always have a great experience. I use to see stylist, Sierra but unfortunately she is no longer there. My appointment had been with Sierra and I received a call prior to my appointment informing me she was gone and if I was ok with having my appointment with Jennifer. That was fine I didn't think it would be bad until I arrived and came face to face with her. After I was sat, Jennifer arrived to my chair and immediately said "so what are we doing" she was frowning and I felt she was not happy to be cutting my hair. There was NO hello, no greeting nothing. Jennifer was very unapproachable and her demeanor immediately made me uncomfortable. She told one of the younger girls to wash my hair and walked away. Wow! She was awful and I almost left the salon, I told the girl washing my hair that Jennifer had been unfriendly and she just smiled. I had my hair washed by two different girls and both were incredibly sweet. I went back to my chair to wait for Jennifer and she took her time and after some time I saw Perry and explained that Jennifer was not there and I was visibly unhappy with her approach. VERY unfriendly! I was not happy with Jennifer and expressed that to the owner. Perry he ended up cutting my hair and he is sweet but my hair cut is awful! I didn't want to write a review but my hair is choppy and the layers are horrible. My haircut was nothing I expected and I will have to wait out the growth to get it fixed. One side is shorter then the other he chopped the front up so it looks like I have a short hair cut but left my length in back! My hair is not falling right and when I walked in all I wanted was a trim of ends and trim of layers. I would cry but my husband tells me it will grow out! Perry did not charge me for the cut which was a surprise and I'm sure it's because of Jennifer's horrible attitude but I hate my hair right now and would have paid for a decent haircut! and am sad Sierra is not there. read more

I came in for a hairstyle for an event I was attending. I am from out of town, so they had me send pictures of what I wanted by text. I got help setting up my appointment at the time I needed and had a stylist call me to make sure I knew what I needed to do for my hair prior to arrival. Daniela and Sabrina were both wonderful and I loved the look they did for me. Exactly what I was hoping for! ALSO I was offered an iced cappuccino when I got there and it was as good as anything at a coffee bar lolol read more

Just saw Perry and staff on 8/21 and he added highlights to my hair and it looks so great and of course the cut is spectacular as usual. If you haven't been to his salon (btw all of his salon technicians are top of the line. Go! Check them out)! I live in Philadelphia and travel to Phoenix to see him and thank you Ailene for beautiful manicure. And as always Jasmin and Patricia make me feel so welcome The entire staff is great. Amazing salon with so many little details - great staff, drink when you arrive, shoulder massage and great stylist! They always make sure you use the Aveda number to get points. Going to the Perry Monge Salon is like going home. The experience starts as you walk through the door. You're greeted warmly by name, your service(s) for the day are reviewed and a beverage is offered. I've been visiting the Perry Monge Salon for many years - we were all young pups back then... But the thing that has not change is attention to detail and top notch services by Perry's highly trained staff. Mariluz makes me feel great after a fresh cut and we also get caught up on everything that makes our lives interesting. Looking for a great way to spend a relaxing day - pamper yourself with a visit to the Perry Monge Salon! read more

My first time experiencing here was great! Customer Service was exceptional. My hair stylist did an awesome job. I was a little hesitant to get my hair done, but she mastered the hair color I wanted. The service was done when I was traveling for vacation and wish I could go there often. My stylist went and made sure that I can have this hair color done wherever I go, so she wrote down the formula for me to take home. My partner was with me the whole time I was there; they provided him also with good customer services. My experience with Perry Monge was educational, and welcoming. read more

I was in Phoenix on business and decided to get a haircut and blowout. I called on Thursday afternoon and was able to get an appointment for the next day. This salon blew me away. The space is beautiful and they offer tons of services. My service included a back and shoulder massage, which was amazing. My stylist explained everything she was doing, and why. I love my cut and style and was very happy with the price. If I lived in Phoenix, this would absolutely be my go-to salon. I highly recommend...10/10! read more

My daughters and I have been coming here for years. Perry and his staff are wonderful! In our most recent visit, they were able to fit in a last minute eye lash service that my daughter wanted done. We always leave looking fantastic! Highly recommend!! read more

I'm so very disappointed! I'm a huge supporter of utilizing Latino owned businesses. I checked in and the lady at the front desk asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I replied yes I'd like a water..and waited 30 minutes and nothing. So I went up to the desk and asked the other girl "jasmine" if I could have a coffee and she said yes. I watched her serve other "Caucasian" customers and I continued to wait! I will not be obtaining services from this establishment ever again! I'm guessing I didn't look "classy" enough to be served. So disappointing that my own race treats their own like this. The only pleasant part of my visit was the sweet lady that checked me out and talking with Perry! He's a class act, it's unfortunate his staff don't follow suit. read more

Jocelyn did an amazing job on my balyage!! The process took a lot longer that usual because I box dyed my hair a few months ago (big mistake on my part lol). Jocelyn was super patient and was willing to go the extra steps to make sure I got the color and look I was going for. The team as a whole was amazing, and the environment was super warm and welcoming. The experience was fantastic and I felt truly pampered throughout the entire appointment. Jocelyn and the team did a phenomenal job!!! read more

Beautiful salon with well-trained stylists. Just loved the experience! A large selection of Aveeda products including makeup!

Terrible. Just terrible. Doesn't do tips. Didn't ask what color I wanted for my nails, just knew I wanted ombre. I've never seen such terrible work. My paint is already cracking on my toes after an hour. Will not be back read more

They did our hair, and my makeup for our wedding, and made me feel beautiful on that special day, wow, almost 8 years ago now. They are consistent with the quality of service they provide. I always leave feeling about three feet off the ground. I love the complimentary aromatherapy massage, and the iced cappuccino is a must! This really is a gem of a salon, some of the friendliest stylists, and good atmosphere hands down. Love the folks at Perry Monge. read more

Update: the hair is still falling out I haven't used heat or hair dye at all since my last appointment when the damage happened as they half way blow dried it at the end. (Not that I ever used heat but maybe once every 3 months) The baldest area is where I realized after getting home late in the day there was still bleach caked on it not completely washed off I could feel it in my hair and washed it out as soon as I realized. The hair ball is only what I can catch on my counter but my hair is literally covering my apartment from the carpet to my clothes and the wood floors & while I'm out hair balls will just fall & fall even in low ponytails. When I had first visited this salon for hair cuts they did amazing very disappointed in how things have now turned out. read more

No matter what I write on how great they are at Perry's, you have to come give it a try for yourself. You walk in to a drink of your choice. Have your hair consult followed by a back & scalp massage. While your getting your hair fixed up you get a hand massage also! The staff is great and the service is unheard of. If your spending $45 on a cut at another salon, why not get the extra perks at Perry's? They truly know how to take care of their customers. read more

I love it here! It's a bit pricey and I have to park underground which can be a pain but it's worth it! You get a mini massage with aromatherapy before ur shampoo. They offer water and other drinks. Alma is my stylist. I typically wouldn't name a fave because I don't want her to get all booked up but she really is the best and has been with Perry for 19 years. I went yesterday for a cut and already have another appt next week for color. Quality service and style! read more

My first experience at Perry Monge Salon has been amazing!! From the moment you arrive, they greet you so nicely and offer you a drink and make you feel right at home. Let's start with: The Perks. The mini massage in your back, head and hand are SO relaxing! Its so awesome that they include that with your haircut. In addition, my stylist Amanda was so great!! She got me exactly what I was looking for in my cut, and was so nice and professional the whole time. I highly recommend her. I am very picky when it comes to my hair, especially with short hair - not every stylist does it well, but Amanda knocks it out of the ballpark!! I really enjoyed the experience and look forward to coming back for my trim! read more

Love this salon! All the employees are always seeing if you need anything. I see Jennifer for my hair and she's amazing. She is so amazing that my mom now goes to her for her hair. The price is reasonable to have great hair. My hair was a mess from my last salon and she totally fixed it to perfection. read more

I called morning of to get cleaned up after a few days in the desert. They fit me in for a mani/pedi and a wax and then Patty made time to give me a much needed light therapy facial with brow and eyelash tint (why has it taken me so long to try this?!) The service was fantastic. Patty just knows what the skin needs. I walked out of there a brand new woman. They genuinely made my day. I will be making time to see them when I'm back in town - it's worth it. This place is fabulous. read more

I am a college student at GCU, in Phoenix, and to be honest I was looking to get a more "professional" haircut like I do back home. Most of the local salons (closer to campus) only offered or specialized in your typical buzz cut or fades for men, which is not what I was looking for. I've been going to Perry Monge for the past two years while I've been out here for school and have gotten a good cut every time. It is great because it's conveniently located right next to the parking garage and CityScape! Oh, and they also give complimentary back massages, which is nice, especially after a stressful day. read more

I highly suggest completing any Vaccination screening of the general public in a more private/confidential setting rather than your reception desk. It's extremely unacceptable and against the law to request a persons medical status without their prior knowledge or consent. Best practice would be to provide a medical screening at the time of scheduling so they can answer discretely and wear proper PPE when they arrive, if they so choose. Shame. read more

I had the best experience here today. I unexpectedly had to bring my daughters with me (3&9 years old) and while I got my hair done they took such good care of my girls. They painted their nails, did their hair and gave them snacks. The staff was so kind to me and my children and I am so thankful for their generosity. I also enjoyed my time there so much, they gave me a head and neck massage, a hand massage and pampered me. I can not wait to go back! The owner himself even came over and gave my stylist Stephanie tips on what to do with my hair. I rarely get to do things for myself being a very busy working mom so everything about today was above my expectations! I cannot wait to return again!! read more

Hands down best hair cut and style ever!!!! Stephanie is amazing. She's so kind and patient and even relaxed me with a seated neck and scalp massage. After an amazing hair cut n style that made my hair feel super soft while looking incredible, she even did some makeup for me which was icing on the cake. She's so talented. Also special shout out to Amy for a lovey hand exfoliation and massage. I'm visiting from out of town and will most definitely be back anytime I'm in Phoenix! Check this place out - it's a little challenging to find as it's on the second floor of cityplace on top of urban outfitters, but you will love your experience! read more

I walked in for a much needed trim today after my work shift. Edith took great care of me, as she had 3 years ago when I first came here. I'd never been to a hair salon like this before and I will continue coming here for all my hair needs. Everyone here is super kind and helpful. The lavender massages help relax the body. Such a lovely surprise. Don't wait any longer than I did. Treat yourself. Thank you, Edith. You're the best! read more

I really liked my usual stylist but she wasn't available unfortunately so I had to go to Alma I believe. I usually get long layers and face framing and asked for just that. I was left with what looks like a mullet and very blunt layering in the back that almost reminds me of a bowl cut. I'm just really disappointed because my hair took me so long to grow out and now I've gone to another stylist who specializes in fixing cuts and even she recommended extensions, which I can't afford. So I'm just left with this awful cut and now I can't do anything about it and hate how I look. The only other way I can fix it is by chopping all of my hair off to above my shoulder where that "long" layer is all across the entire back. The "face framing" left me with short pieces across the entirety of the front and they don't blend at all. I voiced my concern about my cut and they were kind enough to issue me a full refund. But now I'm left so sad and with low confidence due to this cut. I attached the photo which I showed and then my final cut. read more

I went in not too confident in what I wanted. I usually just get blonde highlights. I've been doing this for over ten years. Today I took a chance and showed Jamie what I've been thinking about doing. She confidently took over from there and worked her magic with my hair! I absolutely love it. The cut and color is perfect. My only complaint is that the sinks they use to wash our hair are pretty uncomfortable. More towels might help? Or new sinks hehe ;) I will definitely be back! read more

My BFF and I were recommended to check out this salon as we are in the market for a new one. We stopped in today, mid-day and we were pleasantly surprised. We were promptly greeted by a friendly face interested in learning about our specific needs and questions. We were then greeted by Perry who was also interested in our needs and offered us water or tea. We were handed off to two stylists to further help us as we had specific questions about hair-dye-steaming (it's a new process that makes your hair more receptive to hair dye therefore the dye "lasts longer" not including new hair growth) and razor style cutting. They sat us down in the stylist chairs, helped us understand their natural products, and were amazing in hearing us vent about our hair woes (thinning, frizzies, sweating, etc). We were told each hair appointment comes with a chair/hand massage, and they'll even touch up your makeup. Needless to say, we booked appointments two wks from now. Stay tuned for an updated review after our cuts and colors. read more

Got a great cut and will go back for a color. Every appointment gets a chair massage, It's so relaxing and perfect! It's a bit hidden - go up the steps/escalator and it's right there. Everyone is very nice and they have great discounts and refferal programs. read more

Can't speak about the hair services, but do NOT get your nails done here. Just left. The girls were really nice, but they barely knew what they were doing. Firstly, they gave us this weird tour of the place which we didn't really want. They have almost no colors from which to choose and the color I chose was empty and they had no backup. My pedi girl had to leave mid pedicure to check on someone's hair. She spent more time fixing the polish mess ups than doing the pedi itself. Then, even though I told her my polish wasn't yet dry, she insisted it was and ushered us out. My polish was ruined by my shoes by the time I got home. My daughter had a little better mani, but trust me - go to a nail place for nails, not here. read more
