I bring my labs to Perro's because they are too heavy to wash at home. They remember my dogs names, treat them with love and they come home clean and smelling wonderful. It is a dog salon so there is hair everywhere and barking, etc. But I feel like that's to be expected, it's not posh so you should go elsewhere if that's what you're looking for. read more

Update on my review; I took my dog in to get amher nails cut because I swear she didn't even do that 2 weeks ago nor did she have a bath. I told Gabriela that she didn't do a good job last time and that I was solely disappointed and she basically blamed it on me not communicating her needing a trim which is incorrect. I told her you didn't even trim her face evenly and I had to come back. She still blamed it on me so I'm done with her! read more

I took my dog into this dog groomer for the first time and they did a wonderful job and were sensitive to the dog who was nervous, being nine and not having been to a groomer before. Prior to that we had cut his hair at home when the hot weather came. The price was reasonable also. read more

I took my dog here and I'm so upset they cut my dogs neck with cutting scissors, you can see the flesh she had to go to the doctor right away and they had to put staples in her neck! The poor trauma my dog went through!She gave me my 12 pound dog and didn't say anything about the cut that's the worst part as if I wouldn't see, I immediately saw as I went in my car. Gabriela KNOWS dogs. She has wonderful, positive, reassuring energy for my anxious rescue. She's quick, does a neat job, and her whole family is great with customer service. My dog's tail was badly cut. Mistakes happen, however, covering up the mistake instead of admitting it, is what I have the problem with. Took my pom here about a week ago and since then she hasn't been the same; her skin is irritated and itchy because they cut it too short on her tail and on her stomach... then her nails were cut too short to the point can't even hold her without her freaking out. I took in my Pomeranian to get groomed, nails clipped, sanitary and to cut only a half inch trim. When I picked up my dog they had basically shaved my dog to a half inch! That's not what I told the lady nor what I wanted! I was very specific when I said only cut a half inch I never said cut all the hair down to a half inch! I am horrified and my wife is very much upset! We usually take our dog to our regular place but they weren't available until the 18th so we decided to take him somewhere else. Our BIG MISTAKE!! We have been taking our miniature poodles there for some time now but the last visit was the last straw for me! We have had ok experiences there and kept going back because of how affordable they are. My female poodle is such a sweet girl but for some reason always acts weird after getting groomed, we figured she just hated getting haircuts and being clean since she enjoys the dirt so much. A couple times after bringing her home from here I would notice they cut way too close to her private areas leaving her with a red rash, so we told them to please leave those areas alone. Time and time again they kept getting too close and my poor dog was in such a bad mood and in pain for 2-3 days after getting groomed. There was a few times when she would come home with cuts and I let it go thinking maybe she just jerked or jumped while they were grooming but this last grooming experience was the worst......... My mom picked up our dogs and my pup was cut all over her body..... On her belly, near her private parts and she had a huge cut near her eyes, I was so pissed I could have walked in there and raised hell. I should have but just dropped it and decided never to take my poor dog there. I guess you get what you pay for. I would not recommend this place to anyone who loves their furry friend. These people seem to be more about rushing the service and getting $ then keeping a client happy (the dog & owner). read more

WARNING: DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!! I personally have never taken my own pet to this groomer, but I do work right next door. For the past three years I have spent my days listening to the painful shrills and screams of innocent dogs. After telling myself for weeks that some dogs are sensitive and overreact to grooming, I couldn't live with the unknown. I walked over to the salon and peeked through the fence where the screams were coming from, and saw a small dog backed into the corner of the fence, being power washed. POWER WASHED! You read that correctly, power washed. They use a literal power washer to clean the dogs, no matter what size they are. Small or big, all dogs endure the same treatment. I was mortified. So much so, I walked into the salon and demanded to speak with a Manager. They didn't seem to speak English very well or understand my concern. I let them know that I work across the street and consistently hear animals in distress. They laughed me off and assured me that's how all dogs react. And they would have to be correct, all animals Would react in pain when they are POWER WASHED! Not only that but if you read MULTIPLE comments below, the people who work here clearly have NO education on how to properly groom animals. They cut the hair so short as to cause irritation and cut nails to the "quick" which causes bleeding and pain. Any educated dog-groomer would understand these simple factors. I called the Humane Society to notify them of the abuse animals endure at this shop and was told they have received many complaints and it is unfortunately out of their hands. I can't stand by, in my own home town, and not share my knowledge on this horrible establishment. If you care about your pet, please do not take them here. read more

well my first time there since my regular groomer was not available. They cut my cocker spaniels hair short and left no feathers. I told them to leave feathers. There was also some unevenness in the cut on her body. When we got her home all she did was lick and scratch herself. We then noticed her tummy and vulva was red and inflamed so off to the Emergency Vet Clinic. The vet said she had razor burn so we got antibiotic ointment and a $165 bill. Needless to say we will never go back to this groomer!!!!! read more

I took my dog there to get her nails cut the first time they did great they cut them then filed them and they looked good. The second time was a nightmare for my dog and me. The groomer said he nails were very long so she wanted to cut them very short. She then told me they might bleed, I asked are you going to hurt her she said Oh no, she will be fine. They cut EVERY nail to the quick, I was so freaked out I then took her to the vet to make sure she was okay. They took one look and said that is NOT right and yes my dog was HURT and in pain. This is such a 3rd world place I will never go there again or recommend this place to anyone with a pet. And to Sandy S. I don't believe they were in a rush I just don't think they give a damn or feel anything towards the animals they are grooming or in our case abusing. read more

Took my friendly furry Schipperke/mix here to have his hair trimmed a bit down. Keep in mind he does not ... DOES NOT and WILL NOT attack, bark or become agressive. Ive had him for 10 years and never once have I had a problem with him at all. So once i dropped him off at perros grooming salon, I was immediately happy because they accomadated him with no appt. So about an hour or so I went back to pick him up, thinking to myself he is going to look handsome!.... I walked in and I didnt even recognize the dog that was in the front was MY DOG.... they had shaved him down! he looked like a shaved down poodle! AND WHATS WORSE THEY ADDED A POOF BALL AT THE END OF HIS TAIL!!!! I was so furious!!!!!! They said he tried to attack them while he was getting cut so they had to go shorter! I have used this grooming salon several times for my Springer Spaniel. The first few experiences were very good, reasonable price for a good cut. The last 2 times I brought my dog in he was shaking like a leaf when we walked through the door, something he had never done with previous groomers. the time before last, I had noticed a couple of spots where he fur had been cut to the skin and the skin was red. I assumed he must have jerked or moved everyone makes a mistake once in a while. When I dropped him off this time I mentioned it to her and asked that they be very careful. Unfortunately, he again had spots that were cut to the skin but this time there were bleeding nicks. Her prices are reasonable but I believe they rush through the process and are not careful with the dogs. I will not subject my dog to their treatment again. Hopefully he has not been permanently scarred and will begin to trust groomers again. read more

They did what I wanted same day no appointment. I just had my dog Chip get the haircut and bath. I brought him home and my wife said it was still too long...they took him back the next day and he was out in 15 min and the new cut was free of charge. That is good customer service and no guilt trip. I made this review based on exceptional service and a good price of 50 dollars for my 11pound poodle. Try them out! read more

have taken my long haired Sheltie there for a maybe 4 yrs. however NEVER AGAIN! LAST YEAR WAS A PROBLEM WITH TRIM. NOW the issue is that soap/chemicals were not washed out all along the top of her spine and hind quarters. She developed open wounds all along her spine and a large wound on her hip that required shaving and extensive vet services. I have requested them to pay for her wound treatment and medications and they have failed to contact me. small claims is the next step too bad, so sad because they had been a reasonable good groom operation in the past. I was very pleased with my dogs fur after she was groomed here. My dog is about 70 lbs, and she has shortish hair that sheds terribly. Especially with summer coming her hair is coming out by the bucket full. After being gone for the weekend on vacation my dogs hair still is barely shedding and she is silky soft. For the price and the efficiency I think I will make getting her groomed here a regular stop. read more

They do a fantastic job, have always done exactly what I requested, and they are cheap! My dog is super sensitive he has skin allergies and a he is often terrified of water. I walk by this groomer almost every day ..I just moved here recently so this morning I decided to give it a try. I dropped Wolfie off ..15lbs Westie-Poodle mix. He was shaking when I left him...I was walking home and started reading all these reviews..my heart sunk reading about the way the wash the dogs..I run home and got into the car to go get my dog. When I got there Wolfie was being washed ..he didn't see me but I saw him and he seemed really calm the person washing him was NOT using power wash ..she was gentle and I was surprised to see my dog calm. I was ready to take him but I calmed down after I saw another dog being groomed right in front of me. He looked really at ease. Wolfie went inside to get a cut I could see him from the window. He has little growths in his skin and the groomer seemed really aware and careful. When they were done Wolfie came out to greet me joyful and with no signs of trauma. Nails were nicely cut too ! no blood I have been to several groomers and I have had my dog being traumatized by some of them ...not this place I will be back . read more

took my chihuahua to get her nails trimmed and groomed. she never lets me so i'm happy this placed did it for me :) workers were kind to me, the only "issue" is that the place does seem a little "sketchy" because of how messy it looks. there was a huge leak at the front desk with black water that the worker just through a towel on, but i don't expect it to be tidy all the time since it is a pet grooming place. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE!!! I took my dog there for the first time and as soon as we walked in he started scrambling to try to get out, which I should have paid more attention to; I assumed he was just scared. But dogs know! I told them he was older and to please be very careful with him, and gave detailed instructions for his haircut (I have a shih tzu). I filled out their form and listed both home and cell phone, but told her to not call my cell phone as I would be home. They never called my home phone, just stuck him in a crate and left him. When I called after almost four hours to ask how he was doing, she said "oh he's been ready for quite a while. I left you a message". I told her that no one had called me, and I had checked my cell twice and received no messages. She said "well she must have not hit "send". When I picked my dog up and asked how long he had been ready, she said "oh, way over an hour". They never even tried to get in touch with me! I again said that no one had called me, and she whipped out her cell phone and said "see, that's your cell number!" Oddly enough it never showed up in my received messages. When I looked at my dog I noticed that he had tear stains on his face, and his nose had been almost shaved in a couple spots and the skin was showing. And he was trembling. I paid her in disgust and left. When i brought him home and checked him out, he had a nick over one eye that was oozing blood; his left ear was at least 1 1/2" shorter than his right, so I had to cut the right ear down so he would look even; under his neck had been shaved down to the skin, and his face had not even been washed (hence the tear stains). These people obviously do not care at all about the dogs they groom and definitely have an attitude problem! When I told one of my neighbors about this experience, she said "oh Perros is the worst! No one at the small dog park will ever take their dog there!" I only wish I had known. . . read more

I have taken my cocker spaniel here since the business opened. Prior to that the groomer worked for a grooming salon in downtown San Rafael. In all the years I have taken my pet there I have not had any problems. I find the owner professional and caring of the pets. My dog requires frequent grooming, she is always cognizant of her skin conditions, double checks her ears (since cockers are known for ear problems). She also is careful about her anal glands to make sure they are clean. I highly recommend this groomer. Where I previously experienced problems was at a national local pet food store/grooming store in the Novato area but never here. I also like supporting a local small business. Teresa T. read more
