This local spot offers some seriously delicious Honduran street food, and my first visit was fantastic. The restaurant has a wonderful feel--the decor is bright and colorful, which matches the vibrant flavors coming out of the kitchen. They have a small, focused menu, which I always appreciate as it usually means everything is prepared with care. I ordered the classic Steak Baleada with their house-made hot sauce, and it tasted amazing! So many rich, authentic flavors packed into one perfect dish. I also tried the Taco Árabe, and it was equally amazing! This meal was truly so good. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and can't wait to try their breakfast items!

What a great spot in downtown Jersey City! Outdoor and indoor space, perfect for whatever you're feeling when you come in. The food is spectacular. The scallop ceviche is mouthwatering. The tacos are phenomenal. This is elevated Honduran food and it is well worth the visit and sometimes, the wait to be seated. Worth mentioning: the hot sauce! I can DRINK that. Fantastic on everything. I am so sad that they are closing, but we are keeping a close eye for what's next for the people behind this restaurant.

I have been following Perquin since it opened and was excited to try it when I found myself in the area the other day. This was my first time trying Honduran food, and I have since discovered there are several well-rated Honduran restaurants in my area, so I have some new places to try! Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly; I discovered they can modify a few of the dishes to suit vegetarians. I mentioned I needed to order fries to share with my dog, and our waiter recommended ordering unseasoned fries since I was going to give a few to the dog, which was so thoughtful! I had the sopa to start which was a bean soup with cilantro and spiced tortilla strips. It can be hard to find a vegetarian soup, so of course I had to order this! The soup was hearty and delicious, the spicy tortilla strips were a nice touch. For my main I had shrimp chucos, which has fried green banana chips, pickled red cabbage, and shrimp that are marinated in acid. This method of "cooking" shrimp is so delicious and keeps the shrimp really moist and flavorful. For drinks we had the porn star martini, which I found the juice in it to be a little too much by the end of the drink. We ate in the patio section with our dog and were really comfortable; the tables are new, and there are nice umbrellas at each table. Inside was more of a vibe, but the music was a bit loud for my taste (because I'm old).

I wish I could rate this higher. Lord knows Jersey City needs more culinary diversity and "creative Honduras" certainly fits that bill. The space and the service are both colorful and fun. It's just....the actual food is lacking. It sounds like the chef serves whatever he feels like making, so the menu changes quite often. But the portions weren't very big for the prices, and a lot of the dishes were kind of lackluster in flavor--like they didn't know if they wanted to go all in on spices/seasonings or keep it light enough for American palates. The best of the bunch were the Ensalada and Pollo Chuco. Yes, I know...salad, really? But the dressing was tasty and the greens were very fresh. The Chuco, while small, was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, the Jalea Mixta was a big disappointment: more breading than seafood and what seafood there was, was mostly squid rings. The Ceviche Jipijapa was okay, but again, small in portion and lacking in flavor. And our dessert of Fried Bananas with Honey again had too much breading and not enough flavor. It's early days though, so maybe they'll climb out of the growing pains slump.

Small menu but everything is delicious. Just order one of everything, you'll be happy you did lol the drinks are great too and very strong.

Specialty cocktails are fun. Bartender JT was super friendly. The inside is colorful with a beautiful mural on the back wall.

Absolutely love Perquin. It was sad to see that they closed the old location, but I'm glad that they were able to reopen right across the street this fall. They've been a great addition to the Paulus Hook neighborhood the past year and serve up some delicious and creative Honduran bites. Owner Bryan and his staff are also incredibly warm and welcoming, so be sure to BYOB to the new location and try out the pollo a la brasa!

This is quickly becoming one of our favorite spot. Great service...Walter always takes care of us. They adjust happily for allergies and vegan diners. Most importantly the food and drinks are very good. Replaced the old bistro le source and made the space unique and fun. Menu changes often .... Difficult to find out what's available but if you stop in you will find something good!

Recently opened in Downtown Jersey City's Paulus Hook neighborhood. Fun, young, energetic vibe with friendly, welcoming staff. Honduran and other Latam based menu reflecting the season. Good selection of wines, beers and Latin inspired cocktails. I was seated immediately on a random Friday night but that may not last. This place could well be a hit.

Great neighborhood spot serving big time flavors! Walking into the bright and vibrant restaurant, you'll immediately get a sense of the enjoyment you're going to experience. The variety of beautiful art decor on the walls plays the perfect predecessor for the equally unique and exciting flavors on both the cocktail and food menu. We came on an early Sunday afternoon and were able to grab seats at the bar. The bartender was a pleasure to have serving us as he took us through the background of the restaurant, chefs, and concept of their ever changing food and cocktail menus. The drink highlights included the elote old fashioned (made with corn whiskey, elote liqueur, and sprinkled with cotija cheese) and an amazing espresso martini which included a velvety smooth vanilla bean foam. The food was a latin moshpit, taking notes from various counties to build their eclectic menu: flavor packed pork papusas (made with rice flour instead of corn), pork maiz tetelas (made with a blue corn and giving the most satisfying crunch in each bite, and their baleadas filled with the freshest ingredients. Their menu literally changes everyday, so don't go looking for it to determine if you want to go or not. Walk by faith and not by sight straight through those doors and enjoy! Their future is bright for sure.

WOW perquin did not disappoint and has some of the best flavor in every bite - every dish left us speechless. The rum punch (passion fruit based), hibiscus mojito, and pinarita were to die for. The carnitas tacos were some of the best we've ever had - packed with flavor. Every sauce was so simple yet delicious. We also had the salchipapa, empanadas, and ceviche. Rating this place a 5/5 - we loved the ambiance, food, cocktails, and the staff were amazing. There is no physical menu with menu options always changing - trust whatever the waiter and chef recommend. We will be back!!!!
