Came here to see a friend play an acoustic show featuring violin and guitar - this establishment is BEAUTIFUL - exposed brick behind the bar, dark crimson paint on the walls, and furniture that is as eclectic as furniture gets. Drinks: I ordered an expresso martini to start, followed by a chocolate monkey. My friend had the traditional chai martini, which came complete topped with whipped cream. The beer menu looked good too, and cheap! I dont think I saw anything over $5 for a beer! Food: We ordered and split a "Vaughn" grilled cheese - turkey bacon avocado and red peppers - YUM! Home made chips on the side were crunchy and good to munch on to balance out the strong martini's Overall: This place has such a cool vibe, HUGE martini's (for around $10 bucks a pop- but be warned, they are STRONG!), fun atmosphere and friendly bar staff. This place is fantastic. I almost wish I lived closer to Westerly so I could go here all the time. Ambiance of this place is very laid back with comfy couches everywhere. Bar tender was super friendly and made amazing martinis. I got the chai cocktail which is apparently their 'signature' cocktail which tastes just as you might think, like chai. I got to try the reeses peanut butter cup one too which was also excellent. Although, these both seemed to lack in the alcohol department. While perusing the menu we saw a martini called cello, and it explicitly states that they can only serve one. Of course, we had to get one each. They were fantastic but after we had it they wouldn't serve us anything else AT ALL. So, lesson learned, order that cocktail last and try a few of the other ones. I don't think it was alcoholic enough to warrant limiting it to the one but, aww well. They had a guy playing guitar which was surprising for a Sunday evening in Westerly. The first time I came here the experience was terrible (due to a poorly-concocted drink) but I decided to give it a second try and the experience was much better. The interior is filled with plush seating and a decent-sized bar. The bartenders are friendly and easy to talk to and in the evenings you can come here to enjoy some live music. This place is the best. The fact that its been in business for this long (something VERY rare for downtown Westerly, it seems), is saying a lot. First and foremost- the martinis. The menu has got to have at least 4 pages in the menu dedicated to martinis. Ive tried about 5 or 6 of them, and every single was was delicious. They are all massive, and strong. It leaves you with a good feeling (pun intended!) when you pay $10 for a martini and really get what you paid for. Food - Holy smokes, you get a lot! This place does not hold back. I had ordered a Hendrix grilled cheese (pesto, turkey, Gouda), and not only was it just as good as their martinis, but its huge! I ate half, and was genuinely full. Atmosphere - an artsy space, filled with photos and homages to music icons. The last time I went, it seemed as if they acquired the space next door to them and expanded their bar into a new, connected lounge. The interior reminds me of a hookah bar (lots of comfy couches and seats). The clientele runs the gamut here, a lot of younger folks on weekend nights, but everyone is welcome here. Service - very friendly bartenders. Seems there is only ever one or two bartenders on at a time (and they also cook the food), so service can be a little slow when its busy, but well worth the wait. I think my only complaint would be about the live music, though I was only here once when there was live music. It was just loud. Probably wouldn't be a problem with the expanded lounge. All in all, this is the best place for a martini in Westerly.. perhaps the best place in Westerly, period. read more

I used to visit this place a few years ago when I lived in Westerly, and had a chance to re-visit in Summer 2009. It's changed a bit - they've moved the bar, and opened up the front area. It definitely feels a bit more open, although you have to pick your couch carefully - some of the "eclectic" couches aren't actually all that comfortable. As before, drinks are slightly on the pricey side but make up for it in size and variety. If you like Chai, try their Chai Martini, it's excellent! It can get a bit crowded on weekends, but on a weekday it was pleasant - far from deserted, but still plenty of room. It's also a reliable spot because it's open until 1am - it's worth a trip over from CT after the restaurants close down at 9! read more

But, when my male friend requested to close my tab, the bartenders clearly were not fond of this, to which they chose to explain him to me as being "a dick." I'm sorry- how completely unprofessional. I pray that this guy is not the manager, let alone the owner. He must have said "he was a dick" at least four times...blown away! This was my first time there for my best friends birthday, and I will reconsider going back there on a Friday night given these unethical and ridiculous words spit by a staff member of the bar. I love this place! The martinis are amazing. I always order their Stoli Doli martinis or a gin gimlet. Their martinis are huge. Usually all you need is one of them and you're good, but 2 does the job a lot better. I can drink any of their martinis or cocktails that's how good they are. There are only a couple downsides about this place, sometimes there isn't enough seating. If you're here on a busy Saturday night don't leave your chair to go to the bathroom. It will be gone before you get back. Another thing is sometimes the live music is a little annoying, but it does add to the vibe inside perks. I recommend going here any day of the week for a martini or cocktail; you can't go wrong if you're looking for the best martinis around. Bar staff is friendly, the pours are always good. Ok, this review is long overdue. Perks is the best. And by this, I mean that you cannot not love a place that's a cafe by day and a bar by night. I come here regularly, not only because of the chill atmosphere, but because of the efficiency of the workers and the quality of the music playing. Their wine list is extraordinary, but they are not snotty about it or put on any kind of pretense whatsoever. What I really love about this place is that it has all the potential to be pretentious and snotty but just utterly refuses to do so; as if to say that it knows it's awesome but doesn't want to draw attention to the fact. This is why it's probably my favorite night-life place in town--unapologetic and not-pretentious simultaneously...THAT'S my idea of a good time. I hear they make great Chi Martinis and chocolate alcohol, (I don't drink any such nonsense.) Plus, I Shazam a lot of the songs from their speakers, because whoever owns this place knows good music inside and out. This was an absolute gem!! Ordinarily you order from the bar & go sit down. Sort of has an indi meets boho open mic night vibe. The bar tender was witty and never made us feel like we were putting him out when he came over to take our order. Pretty amazing musician wish we could've stayed longer it was so great. I like Perks and Corks a lot - the coffee is hot, the place is friendly and the atmosphere is lively, especially on weekend evenings. I always try to sit down near the musicians for a couple of reasons: the acoustics are better, I get to see who walks in and, because I only drink coffee, I am not real profitable for the owners and I don't want to take valuable real estate at the bar. Not drinking means I don't get drunk and cause problems, however. They have many exotic drinks and martinis, and I also believe they have a good selection of beers. The customers hang outside on the sidewalk on warm evenings and everyone is cool about that. How many places can you go into by yourself and talk with depressed housewives, opthamologists on the lam and Westerly locals - and still be comfortable? read more

The drinks here are amazing, big portions and tasty. Food is also great. However, customer service is awful. I was coming here pretty regularly with friends and they were busy so I was told to wait outside with my party. They forgot we were waiting and continued to seat other guest that arrived after us. We addressed the issue and they lied and said they didn't seat anyone when we saw it happen. Another incident we've had was one of the members of our party was extremely intoxicated so we decided to call it a night. We attempted to get our bill but our very drunk friend ordered another drink. He should have been shut off (we had to find him a ride home because he couldn't even walk) but the waitress brought him a drink anyways. She disregarded that he was not paying for the bill and wasn't even able to walk he was so intoxicated. I believe the waitress we had was a girl named Sam. Let's see, found this place because I ordered a mai Tai at Voc's pizza which was excellent, and the wicked cool bartender there, recommended I come P & K, for a mai tai with a sailor Jerry's floater. Well as a rum drinker and a mai tai aficionado, let's just say hands down best MAI TAI EVER! They also have a small food menu, we had the spinach artichoke dip (stellar ther best ever, spinach, artichoke garlic and spices, herbs) the Vaughn (Turkey, avocado sandwich, cheddar) and the notorious BLT, these sandwiches are panini style and just awesome. Iced chai martini, I could end the review there and I would have said enough. This little coffee shop by day, coffee inspired bar by night is a really great location to catch up with friends and unwind in a relaxed, dark but warm enviroment. The cocktails were all delicious, well made and generious in size. The food portions were also generious and well made for what one would normally expect for bar food. On most weekends you shoould be abe to catch a local band or some form of live entertainment. The coffee bar has a lot of hide aways and comfortable seating, it is almost as if you are drinking in fancier version of your own home. I can't wait to go back when I am in the area. read more

I have been here twice: once for late afternoon cocktails and once for morning coffee while working on my laptop. The good: This is an adorable little spot with cozy ambiance, eclectic furnishings, and comfy seating, lots of pillows, etc. The drinks are good and I also had a muffin which was pretty big. Also, the bar staff both times were very friendly and attentive. And, they play great music. All good things! The not-so-good: There were several items on the menu board that they no longer offered, so both times I kind of had to run through that awkward, "Do you have that?" No. "Okay, how about this?" Nope, not that either. But, that's fine, I can deal with that. What I couldn't deal with was when we were there earlier in the day and the owner arrived to hang out with his bar staff. He was one of the loudest people I have ever heard. There were several of us in the back trying to get work done and all we could hear was this guy with his bellowing voice and honestly, he was bellowing things he really shouldn't have been saying in public, especially as a representative of the establishment. It was impossible not to hear him, awkward, and embarrassing. I won't get into the details of what he was saying but suffice to say that his lack of professionalism was a complete turnoff and I will not return to support him.
