If I could give zero stars I would. This place was awful. It took forever to get our food, our waitress messed the order up multiple times, and oh..I found a plastic bread tie in my sandwich. It didn't taste so good. The manager came over and apologized, as did my waitress repeatedly. She said I'd get a new sandwich and cup of soup or salad all free. So I asked for soup and she brought me the wrong kind. By the time I got my food back everyone had finished eating. And the little bit I did eat, I've been sick from all day. No fun. read more

Great Customer Service and AMAZING FOOD!!! This Resturant is not like most chains it feels like it's own stand alone spot. The menu is jammed back with great meals and hearty portion sizes. Ask for the special of the day, sometimes it's a great treat. The service was amazing both times I came. They are very attentive but not to the point where it's annoying. I don't know if I'd eat here for anything other than breakfast. We called in a top go order and when we showed up 20 minutes later they hadn't even put in our ticket. I got the turkey dinner which was OK, but Soooo salty. My husband got a new skillet dish with chicken, broccoli and bacon. Not only was his broccoli in huge chunks, literally raw and just sitting on top of the chicken and rice, but they're was no bacon whatsoever on his dish. The restaurant was only 3/4 full, but we had to wait 15 minutes for a table. I'm guessing they were either short on wait staff or short on cooks. After we ordered, it took about 15-20 minutes for the breakfast food to come. That's always a bad sign because breakfast food is fast to cook. The food is amazing and the prices are great. We are a party of 2 seated in the back area room. Everything was great before they seated a party of 30 all in the same room as us. They kept each table at 6 or 7 however each table was full . We just left right away because the room was packed , everyone had their masks off and were standing around. Wet had a decidedly mediocre breakfast on our last day visiting Wisp. Food: biscuits were dry, chewy and tough in places. Pancakes were light but dissolved easily. Oatmeal was soupy. Fruit, bacon and eggs were ok. Service: Service was slow for a basic breakfast and not being particularly busy. Had to ask for water refills but then they only filled one of the glasses. A recent grumbling in the stomach and need for new Blog material found me at Perkins Deep Creek Lake recently. If this is the first review you have read of mine I must disclose that chain restaurants rarely are places I like to eat. In a nutshell my feelings after leaving where that I had yet again been processed by another cog in the corporate food machine. Located in McHenry the heart of Deep Creek Lake the restaurant is clean and easy to find. There is nothing spectacular about the decor that would make me think I was in Deep Creek anymore than Holton, Kansas. There is a bake shop on premises but I know the sprinkling of local bakeries that blow these offerings away. Service was similar to buying a soda from a machine. We got what we ordered and paid. However for personality the machine gives that satisfying clunk sound on delivery. The menu definitely has something for everyone all of it lacking much in the way of complex flavor or uniqueness. What one might expect from lab tested recipes designed to make money and save time. Manufactured rather than made. As for the prices again they seemed to be right in the middle. As the whole place is nothing that made me say I could never eat here again and nothing that would make me rush back or take friends. Perkins at Deep Creek Lake is just well there. This place serves everything you can think of (well, American fare at least). Breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, desserts, etc. So far I was able to try the Everything Smasher (think tater tots with eggs and stuff on top, sprinkled with lots of cheese) and the Pick 3 combo, where I picked chicken noodle soup, turkey sandwich, and a garden salad. I rarely write reviews, unless it's a really good or really bad experience...and even if it's bad, it takes a lot to get me to post about it. My family (9 of us) came here on vacation in Deep Creek Lake to get some dinner after a long day, and nearly everything that could be messed up, was...and no apology or solution was offered, not even a little. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because the atmosphere is nice, and some of the servers are friendly in personality, but everything else from there was bad over and over. When our food came, all of it came at once which was nice - but all of them were cold. I don't mean lukewarm or not hot, I mean actually nearly chilled. I asked for the gravy to be on the side and it was poured over everything on the plate, my mom asked for lemon with her water and no lemon came, my sister asked for water for the kids to be in the kid cups and it was brought in regular tall glasses and the waitress said "this should be fine, unless they spill it on a phone or something", my dad ordered an English muffin and it didn't come, no rolls were brought for the table..... but worst of all, one of us ordered the tilapia and it was abysmal. Believe me, I am the first to admit I don't expect tilapia at a Perkins to be top notch, and that's fine. But this was truly laughable - I don't know how anyone would even serve that to a human. It was very tiny already, and it was shriveled to a point of non recognition, and whatever little bit was there had fallen apart everywhere. The rice it was on was cold to the touch. Also, at this point all food was brought, but none of us had silverware. OK. Annoying issues, and a lot.... but fixable. We said these things to our waitress nicely, but when we said "oh and none of us have silverware" she responded with "...ok". When we told them about the fish, we asked for a new reasonable fish, and for the cold food on the plate to be reheated. They took the plate, and brought it back a while later with a new better looking fish. All the rest of the food was colder than before, so that definitely wasn't heated. The fish was salty beyond edibility. The English muffin was never brought, but the worst part is we still had no silverware. We eventually got up and took it off other tables. By this point, we just wanted these problems to be fixed. We are still very reasonable people - we said something again about the muffin and that we got our own silverware, also about how cold the food was, and there were no apologies or anything, no attempt at trying to rectify the situation at all. After that we were being completely avoided at all costs, so needless to say we never got any drink refills. We had to track her down to ask again for the English muffin which she finally brought ten minutes later. I think what bothers me the most is the attitude the whole way through. We didn't even ask for ALL things to be fixed, just the major ones. She didn't split the bills up the way we'd all discussed at the beginning, and then the bill wasn't brought until 15-20 minutes past when she said she was going to go get it. The cashier at the end asked "how was everything" to which my dad responded "well the food was ok, but the service was pretty bad". Her response to this was a nonchalant "ok" without any further inquiring about the situation that led to this answer. The impression I've gotten is that pretty much everyone that works there simply doesn't care about the quality of anything regarding this restaurant. Not the host, the servers, nobody we spoke to. I want to note one more time that I'm seriously a laid back person and will usually overlook mistakes, even bigger ones...or nicely ask to fix the main one but not make a big deal. I'm the first to defend the waitress, the cook, whomever is the blame, that there's probably more to the situation we don't understand... But this entire experience was beyond me, I've never had something to this extent happen in one sitting. I was defending the restaurant to my family with each step, making excuses for them - but after enough things, lack of any apology whatsoever, and the attitude that us coming there to eat was a burden to their day was enough to really rub me the wrong way. I still feel bad writing a bad review because I know people have their bad days and such - but it was the overall experience at this place, not any one person, that bothers me. Terrible service! At the end of our vacation, we stopped on a Saturday morning and it took 45 minutes for our party of six to get seated even though the restaurant was half full and there were plenty of large tables available. For a Saturday morning during the summer vacation season, they need a lot more staff to support the number of customers coming in. The food was acceptable, however the service was slow and a $3 order of bacon consisted of four tiny pieces of bacon that looked pretty pitiful on a plate all by themselves. Again, after a long drive, we pulled into Perkins. They didn't let us down. We have been to almost every place at Deep Creek. We first began visiting there in the mid-60's, when there were few places to eat out. We wish Perkins was there then. Perkins has never let us down. The food is great, with many menu choices, the prices are reasonable, and the 50-60's music is "classic ear-candy" to us. Don't change a thing, Perkins! This was surprisingly really good. We went there for lunch. The place was clean and service was fast and friendly. It is a way better chain than Eat n Park or Cracker Barrel. This place is terrible. We waited 20 minutes, which isn't terrible for a Sunday morning, but half of the tables were empty. We decided that maybe they're short staffed and to give them some grace. After we were seated (at 11:06am) and placed our orders we were chatting and mixing it up with a neighboring table, next thing we known it's 11:59am and we haven't gotten our food. We quickly realized this was unacceptable but our waitress (who was great) said ours was "next". It turns out that next meant next to be cooked. Fifteen or twenty minutes later our food comes, it's cold, half of the orders were wrong but by this point we were starving and in a hurry. We brought it up to the manager and she gave us 2 comped meals (one order was completely wrong and another order was ice cold and had something hard in the omelette). The only person at our table who had edible food was the person who had fried pickles and hash browns. They tried to make it right but it just wasn't enough. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any restaurant. We waited over an hour for our food. Half of it was wrong. Everything was cold and stale. The waitress was unaffected and offered no apology when asked about the hour wait on the food. When speaking to the manager, Brenda, she was cold, rude, and unapologetic. When we stated that we waited over an hour her response was "right." Then we said "and nothing had any salt," her response was "well we don't salt anything." A salad was ordered with grilled chicken, and was brought out with fried. When they brought it back out, there were what can only be described as chicken crumbs on the salad. The hash was overcooked and looked like dog food. The potatoes were undercooked. The manager did not apologize and did not care at all what we had to say. Food is horrible. Service is horrible. Management is horrible. They should be ashamed of themselves for serving that crap as food people are expected to eat. They should be ashamed of themselves for expecting people to pay for it. And they should be ashamed of themselves for their despicable attitude. read more

Gena is one of the best servers I've had in a long time. We cane in with 13 people had to be seated in a couple tables and needed separate checks. Gena was the most friendly and accommodating server! She was funny, efficient and cheerful! Food was good and atmosphere clean. read more

We live in Deep Creek. Had given up on Perkins due to spotty food and slow service. Decided to give it another try after a 3 year drought. Restaurant was 1/3 full. Server was friendly, but food came cold. Nothing worse than cold eggs. My husband's omelette was undercooked. Not sure why this place has so much trouble cooking breakfast, but we probably won't go back for another 3 years. read more
