    Caramel apple pie
    Abby L.

A couple weeks ago my family took a trip to Deep Creek to hang out with some friends and the Arrowhead Market was a staple for us! We came here a couple times through the trip and they had almost everything we needed to get through our trip comfortably - alcohol included! When you walk in there is a ton of beer and a little assortment of liquor to choose from, which was nice because typically in PA booze and groceries are two stops. What I was really impressed by here was the selection of grocery items and the fresh prepared foods! I got plenty of supplies including fresh fruits and veggies for our weekend which was impressive for a little market on the side of the road. It's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There were pies I saw during my first stop at Arrowhead Market that looked amazing. Finally we decided to try a caramel apple one for dessert one night and it was delicious! I was also impressed by the cinnamon buns with tons of icing. I would drive all the way back to Maryland just to get those again. Overall it's definitely worth stopping here if you're in the Deep Creek area for some hot fresh foods or something to go for later, but if you're in need of anything during your trip Arrowhead should have you covered!

They had exactly what I was looking for: an ice cold Coke Zero. Plus the stocked shelves are immaculate

Clean, well stocked, good variety of all items, inviting atmosphere. What a pleasant surprise! This is supposed to be just a convenience store attached to a gas station, but wow how beautiful! One feels like lingering, even. They got freshly roasted chickens, a butchery, and even a seafood department. Some fresh produce (small selection but well stocked). They got just about everything; it's a bit larger than your typical gas station store, and it's well managed. Maybe this is because McHenry by Deep Creek Lake, MD, is a more touristy destination (Wisp ski resort right here; lake activities in summer).

So, this is what passes for lettuce and tomato on a sandwich.

Grab and go sandwiches are skimpy and overpriced. I got a ciabatta ready-made ham sandwich with a puny slice of boring American cheese, a barely-there tomato slice and pinch of shredded iceberg lettuce, and it cost me a whopping $11. As you can see in the attached pics, the sandwich was all bread and almost no filling. What a rip-off! Maybe tourists from the metro area don't mind paying that much for nothing, but locals don't have that kind of money to waste.

First, the beer. I have had much better, though the double bock and the Doc Brown Ale were the best with the double bock being a little too sweet. At 7 bucks a pint, it is the average price. This place won't attract me for beer alone. The menu is rather simple in terms of selections which should offer an opportunity to excel with food, thus keeping people returning. I found what I tried to be rather bland and typical of brewpubs. Smashburger. Bland, though I suspect the tomato jam and roasted garlic mayo were supposed to give the flavor depth. I wish I could have tasted these separately to fully analyze. At 16.26, I can find better. I tried the blue cheese salad dressing and was disappointed. It was like eating sour cream with a hint of blue cheese. This is so easy to make and taste good. The hand beer battered cod was also bland. Just not impressed. The fresh cut fries are typical of fresh fries. Not great. If you're willing to put time in it, you can make great fries. Overall, the menu selections could be better. I would think a nice steak salad or something like that may do well. The steak pinsa is the closest, I guess, but would be better with a salad. The service was mediocre even though our server was friendly. When you emphasize beer, tis best to visit often to see if the customer would like another. Don't wait until the meal is nearly finished. Will I be back? I want to try a few other dishes to get a more complete idea of this place, but I can see this place fading away like the others that come and go.

Really was looking forward to coming here with seeing several people post online about it…read more We went up on a Saturday evening without reservations which I'm not sure they take. To my luck and delight, there was live music blaring upon entry. We were sat near the bathrooms and kitchen and put in our drink order. I want to mention they were kind of busy but not swamped, and it took a lot of time in between seating to greeting to drink delivery to ordering to food to dessert to check. In fact, I didn't see much of our waitress out and about at all - blonde with a lot of energy. She was nice but very spotty in checking on us. We ordered the pretzels and cheese for an appetizer to start. They were ok. For my meal I got the pit beef sandwich which came with a horseradish sauce. The time between the ordering to appetizer to meal was LONG. The manager or owner who brought out the meals realized I was getting pissed and tried to smooth things over. Problem was the sandwich was very dry. Pit beef should have some juiciness to it, but honestly it was really dry. The horseradish sauce was nice but had evaporated into the bun - probably from sitting back in the window for 15 minutes without coming out. The best part of the meal was the dessert which was a French dish I can't remember but is pictured. Cold dessert covered in icing and layered inside. It was very good and light Overall it was ok. I'd like to try again but man the waiting for food when it's not very busy thing is a big pet peeve of mine.

Spicy, flavorful, hot, with a shot of flavor every time there's a banana pepper bite. The star of the meal tho was the potato salad.
