I am fed up with walmart delivery. They offer delivery in my area but never want to deliver here. I ordered groceries 2 days ago to be delivered ( I have covid symptoms and don't want to spread it)and I am still waiting on the order. Customers have nothing they can do! I called corporate customer service and said the only recourse I have is to cancel the order and WAIT for the funds to be released. Walmart does not care about customers and apparently the manager at this walmart does not care about profits being in a tourist area. I , like an idiot, even paid for walmart +! I wish we ( customers) had options to hold these stores accountable. Corporate better wake up and take control of this store or their profits will suffer. You can tell that this location was one that they just hurried up and built. There are multiple reasons as to why it appears that way. They took advantage of the fact that it is near a tourist area. They also took advantage of attempting to lure shoppers here. Another reason as to why it looks like the built in a hurry, they made it a supercenter, but built it too small. The inside of this thing is way too small to be consider a supercenter in terms of size. With the smaller floorplan you get a smaller selection of items. I noticed that was a complaint in at least one other review. I also noted that in another review, if you are not paying attention, you will bypass this place. Although I do not agree that it is good for any given area to have a Walmart. It comes off as convenient in the spur of the moment, but it really hurts a community most times. Walmart isn't the end all for shopping. Especially when it is as small as it is and doesn't really have that much in regard to variety. Alright, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here. It was just a quick stop for me as I wasn't really needing anything, but since I was out I stopped in. I did a quick once around the store to see if there was anything I needed. Of course, per usual, you come in here with no intentions on buying things and you end up with an armload of items before you know it. I grabbed a few items, paid and made my way back out to the car. The Walmart Super-center in Oakland MD is in desperate need of a remodel. The cashiers and the store staff are generally very friendly and helpful. The EXCEPTION is the customer service center which is frightening. One associate with a vicious reputation when returning a boxed item WITH a receipt allegedly sets a goal of causing the customer anxiety and frustration. Good grief!! They are always out of half the items on my grocery list. read more

Maryland law and Walmart policy both require masks be worn in Walmart stores. Not only does Walmart not enforce this among shoppers but many employees walk through the store with masks around their chins. One employee had no mask at all. Manager says it's tough to enforce because a lot of people don't like masks. Huh? Totally irresponsible ad dishonest with the public. read more

You need stuff like this in the country. Its good for oakland and very convenient if you prefer to get multiple stuff vs cvs or walgreens. Kinda hard to spot if you're speeding up but very good for the community read more

This is the nicest Walmart I have ever been in! This is where we do the majority of our grocery shopping when we are at Deep Creek! It's the most affordable grocery store at Deep Creek! The store is organized and kept well! My Dad loves to get his hair cut here! I find that we go there at least once a day when we are in town. read more

This walmart is not as nice as the other walmarts around. Its small and usually crowded from the lake tourists. It is very convient and everyobe shoos here. Well just left Oakland Wal-Mart. Had a cart full of merchandise but my boyfriend and I were treated so poorly, I left it in the isle and walked out. Sadly, my boyfriend and I are use to being followed around stores. This Wal Mart, in particular, seems to feel that since my boyfriend has tattoos and wears baggy pants, he must obviously be a thief. I cannot say we enjoy this treatment. Especially since, of all the people I have known to shoplift, it's almost always women. Not guys like my boyfriend. So not only are they openly stereotyping him, they aren't even doing it smartly. Middle aged women happen to be the most likely to shop lift. Yet, his mother was in the store and no one followed her. We have grown to accept the usual followers but a few weeks ago a middle aged man got incredibly rude. I couldn't turn around without him standing within inches of me. He followed every move we made to the point where I started openly calling him out. This didn't phase him, he even bent over by boyfriend while he was looking at something and told him, "You know people go to jail for that?" For what? We had been there the day before and spent over $300. We spent over $100 that night. So is our crime our appearance? I thought this was 2018..... This evening we were almost finished shopping when I saw the same man walking towards us. I immediately told my boyfriend loudly so that the man could hear, that our Babysitter was back. This time the man walked right up to us and started openly attempting to escort us through the store. I stopped and looked at him and asked if he was planning on holding our hand the rest of the time. In response, he held up some empty box, i think for lighters, and said, "yeah I think I had better." We were furious. Both my boyfriend and I offered to empty our pockets. Oddly he didn't take us up on our offer. I would think having your suspects willingly offering to be searched would be ideal. I guess just not when you know they haven't stolen anything. We decided to leave our cart right there and leave. When he saw how angry we were he quickly dissapeared. I know I won't feel comfortable going back to a place that is comfortable treating their paying customers in this manner. I know my boyfriend and his mother won't go back either. Quite sad how close minded and judgemental this company seems to be. read more

This Walmart is rather small. It gets crowded in the summer because of the Lake tourists. I usually shop on Saturdays and the only thing that makes me smile is Roger the elder gentleman greeter. He's a blast. read more

Not as big as other Walmart Supercenters I've been too. The store itself is outdated, but is clean as others noted. Most Walmart's have the same layout but this deviates from the mold so it may take more searching than normal. Selection could be improved but I've found what I needed the few times I've been here. It hasn't been crowded the times I've came too which means no long waits to checkout. This is just an average Walmart. read more

My elderly mother and father where at Walmart it was 10 below zero snowing and blowing my dad dropped my mom off at the door and told he would watch for her and pick her up at the door when she was finished when she came out he pulled up to help her load the groceries while doing so a town cop that looked to be about 10 years old got out of his nice warm car not to see if he could help them but to tell them the next time they would get a ticket HOW SAD! my mom called the Oakland Walmart and they told her you can not pull up to get your groceries. there is enough room at the front of that store there should be a pick up.so for all of the elderly people out there Brownings shop and save will gladly take you and your cart out to your car and unload it for you. read more

It should be noted too that this is a Super Walmart meaning you can buy food items in bulk for rather cheap prices if you know what to look for. I share the sentiment that the store appeared clean. By Walmart standards, it was nice, and in all honesty, there aren't any other options for all-in-one shopping around this area. read more

Well I was very unhappy with my service tonight. I just wanted to try a pair of shorts on and the time was about 9:45pm and I'm pretty sure the dressing rooms don't close until 10:00pm. So I proceeded to go to the dressing rooms to find an employee sitting on the bench next to the fitting room and she said "I called for someone to come but I'll go and find someone. There were already people waiting to use the fitting room before I got there. So I waited about 15 minutes until I decided to go find someone myself. I walked down to register 10 to find the woman that said she would go find someone for us. She said the fitting rooms were closed and that see told the other people waiting that it was closed as well. I didn't understand why she didn't tell me that so I waited for 15 minutes for nothing and the worst thing is that the employee didn't come back and tell me it was closed. I'm very unhappy about the situation. It wouldn't have taken that employee no more than 5 minutes to tell me that instead she just stood at the register talking to other employees. read more

This is the worst Walmart I have ever been in! Absolutely no selection to choose from. I'm seriously thinking this store gets all the leftover stuff that other stores do not want or can't sell. "Starter kits" are available but do no good because refills are not available. Can't find anyone to help you. When you do see someone, they run the other direction as soon as they realize you need their help. On a busy day, only a couple of checkouts available. On a slow day, several checkouts will be open. They do not enforce the "10 items or less" checkouts. The produce is not fresh. Deli products are fine but I did have a problem with the workers. Very disorganized, short patience and not friendly. The ONLY positive thing I can say is their cashiers are extremely friendly. read more

I had called this Wal-mart, and asked them if they could cash a check of mine for a layaway. I described in detail what type of check it was. The lady on the phone had told me Yes, they could cash my check, that they would either take the 10% towards the layaway out of it, or charge the normal $3.00, which ever was less, Which was fine with me. So the next day, I drive 30 minutes to this Wal-Mart, with my check ( which was the only cash source I had with me.), and I spend half a day shopping for Christmas items for my family for layaway. I get up to the layaway department, and now they tell me that they cant take the 10% out of the check, that I have to go up to customer service to get my check cashed first. Ok, so thats not what they told me on the phone, but I can do that. So I go up to cash my check, and now the lady at the desk tells me that they cant cash my check... I was very upset. I spent half a day in there shopping for nothing, wasted my time, and gas money to go down there. I would have never even did this, if the lady on the phone hadn't told me that they COULD cash my check! These people just wasted my time and money because they didnt have their facts straight! If they are unsure about something, they need to tell the customers that they are not sure, instead of leading them to believe that they can do this sort of thing, and when they get there its a whole different story.
