Beautiful spot. But be prepared to wait...outside. My caramel latte was too sweet for my preference. You could t taste coffee. Some people prefer that, it's not my taste. Our sandwiches were very good, we got the breakfast ciabatta. Now it was Fourth of July weekend but they are no busier than everywhere else. Plenty of staff working. 20 minute wait to order. 40 minutes to get two breakfast sandwiches. They only permit five people inside at a time and the have the inside dining area closed. While we understand that it's a busy holiday weekend, the service and the product itself was absolutely unacceptable. After waiting 1 hour to get our sandwiches, this is the monstrosity that was delivered to us. This "avocado ciabatta" that I paid an extra $6 for to include bacon and chicken was supposed to include red peppers and chipotle Mayo and yet, it's the driest sandwich I've ever seen holding leftover day-old bacon and canned chicken on soggy wheat bread. Nothing about this is a respectful for a paying customer who waited twice as long for our food and witnessed car loads of customers get their orders who were serviced after us. The worst part is that due to COVID, we were asked to wait outside for our meal. While we're normally very accommodating and patient people, the staff clearly took advantage of the fact that we were out of sight and out of mind. After lying to our faces twice, telling us that they had already made our food, they then let us know that the order receipt "fell behind the counter" causing them to skip over us. It was very apparent that they then threw together makeshift meals in response to us asking where our food was 45-mins into our wait in a rush to close the restaurant. We understand being busy and understaffed, but we do not and will never understand overcharging for a meal that a four year old could have made at pre-school. The only blessing about this place was the pre-bagged dill flavored chips that I had to add to the sandwich to make it tolerable. read more

They used sugar-free syrup without even asking and there was no ice in it, and the taste of the coffee could've been sooo much better. I ended up not even drinking it. I don't have a problem with paying a lot for coffee but it better be quality then. The workers were super nice but their lack of knowledge of coffee was pretty bad. Super cute grab and go breakfast spot with an outdoor area where you can seat yourself. The breakfast sandwich was really good. We also ordered the yogurt with the granola. If you are a granola fan, definitely grab their granola. I'm pretty sure it is their own homemade granola mix. "Canoe on the Run" offers a good location for those of us that have places/stay near the ski slope. The patio area is very nice during the warmer months. The food on the other hand seems a bit expensive for what you get (and sometime inaccurate) and the wait times are always long. Additionally the folks behind the counter could smile sometimes and acknowledge a customer. TIP: If you want breakfast, get their early since many times they run out of ingredients. read more

We stopped here for a breakfast to go on our way back home. I ordered iced chai and egg sandwich with cheddar on bagel. It was good. A good filling sandwich for the drive back. I also got a simple toast with egg for the toddler. And it's priced the same for the bagel sandwich. Hmmm but the toddler enjoyed it. Their chai is Tazo where you can buy in grocery stores. At least it wasn't Oregon! And I enjoyed it. Great service and they enforced the CDC guidelines of: no more than 5 people in their cafe, social distancing, mask required and once you ordered and paid, wait outside and they had a small table for order pick ups. We were the first customers to arrive Sunday morning, July 13...which meant we had first choice of the pastries! The menu isn't overflowing with items to choose from, but really does that matter if what's on the menu is oh-so-delicious? I think not! I had the oatmeal with fruit and brown sugar. I was impressed that the oatmeal was actually good and not a mushy mess. My husband had the breakfast burrito with spinach ~ SO good! Yes, I had to have a bite...or two...or three of his! We both had a pastry with our coffee. The setting of this restaurant is off the beaten path which makes for a pleasant eating experience. Plenty of outdoor tables! Prices are reasonable too. The only draw back, and the reason for 4.5 stars, is the lack of a nice coffee bar. Don't get me wrong, the coffee is good, and refills are self serve, but honestly it feels uncomfortable filling your coffee mug when the waitress is waiting to fill another customers mug from the same coffee dispenser. read more

Honestly so was a little let down. They really push the red chili on menu and we came here from brunch. With that in mind, I tried the red chili omelette. The eggs were pretty bland, not much to it, and the red chili reminded me of the flavor of Chef Boyardee ravioli. Not that I had Chef Boyardee, I just would pay for it on my eggs. They also listed it on salad, sandwiches and as a nacho dip. I'd pass on it honestly. The breakfast wrap my boyfriend has was so so. Nothing special. If you come here, I highly recommend going with a special. We also got a prosciutto quesadilla, that was pretty good. The treats they have in the window are really good too. My boyfriend got the nana pudding cookie, and we were delightfully surprised to find it wasn't just flavored banana but had chunks of bananas in it, as well as chunks of vanilla wafer. I got a the lemon cream crumb bar, it was very good too. Not too sweet either. It wasn't a bad stop, I am not sure if I'd of found something better in the area for breakfast. My gf raved about the vegetarian chili and her mocha, while I very much enjoyed my pastrami sandwich and vegetable soup. While the menu has some gems, definitely check out the chalkboard for the daily specials. That's where you'll find the most adventurous and yummy stuff. We stopped by here for a lunch on the go while doing a foliage tour of western Maryland. This was a random stop as we were starting to get hungry as we were approaching Swallow Falls. They have daily specials that are on their board inside. Currently due to covid, they do not have indoor seating, but you can go into the restaurant to order. They will take your food to the half door and call out your name for you to pick up. They have a couple of outdoor tables that you can sit at to enjoy your meal. I'm not entirely sure that they clean the tables afterwards at this time due to covid. I found the daily special list and as per usual for a slightly cooler day I wanted soup and half a sandwich. They don't state anywhere on the menu that you can order half a sandwich but the staff did tell me that it was possible as long as I was not ordering anything on ciabatta or focaccia. I got the mushroom barley soup which was good I may want a little more pepper but still pretty good. I also got the turkey sandwich. The boy got the cheddar and roast beef? sandwich. The boy's sandwich was cut up into quarters had i known that I probably would have just stolen the half a sandwich that he couldnt finish. They also had generous sized cookies -- i got the special and the boy got the chocolate chip. The special was an oatmeal, raisin, chocolate, pecan chocolate chip cookie which i thoroughly enjoyed but it did take me 2 days to finish. The boy says that his chocolate chip was good but he's happier with a softer cookie so he wasnt as happy as I was with my cookie.
