Biggest issue with them is that their road is full of potholes so you can wreck your car getting there. It's a private road and they seem to have refused to repair it. I know many, many people are boycotting them because of this. Food was edible-sizzling shrimp dinner. Shrimp were okay and grilled veggies. Rice was disgusting- probably instant or made days ago. This time around we came for breakfast. The restaurant is large with plenty of parking. The restaurant is clean and has a relaxed feel. We ordered two build-a-breakfasts with eggs, hash browns, turkey patties, pancakes and toast. We added coffee. The portions are large, and appetizing, although the cost was a little expensive. The food was very, very good. The waitress started off so sweet and attentive explaining the menu-something must have happened in the kitchen because she became more irritated and non attentive to our table and the tables around us. My husband and I visited Perkins on Veterans Day, and I was disappointed by the lack of recognition for veterans. There were no signs or notices anywhere about the Veterans Day offer. Our waitress took our order without mentioning anything about a free breakfast for veterans, even though my husband was wearing a veteran shirt. When we received the check, I asked about the free breakfast, and she said, "Oh, I wish I had known -- there was a free breakfast, just not what you ordered." This is something she easily could have mentioned at the start. It almost felt like management didn't want customers to know about the offer. We later went to another restaurant, and they had signs right outside welcoming veterans. The difference was noticeable. Pretty disappointing on Perkins' part. read more

We stopped in and the restaurant was less than half full. The hostess took our names and said it would be a ten minute wait. While waiting, we were looking at menus to cut down on waiting. After waiting about 7 minutes a large man walked past us to a family of 4 that arrived after us and went to seat them. They politely pointed out that we were there first. They seated us, we waited another 10 minutes in an empty section for a server. Both items we tried to order were out of stock. We ended up leaving, which is sad. I travel a lot for work, and Perkins has just been one of those places that bring some comfort when I'm far from home. Our server was fantastic. She was kind, attentive, knowledgeable on menu items, and the food was brought out quickly. After this whole urge to eat breakfast; I ended up getting the steak quesadillas instead. The platter was tasty my only issue was that the portions were a bit meager. I remember the portions being a little larger at Perkins, but that's my only complaint. i was very disappointed when I asked for extra butter for my Potato pancakes and it wouldn't melt on the very hot cakes. I asked why a found out it was not butter it not sure what it was. This place is a gem. I've never eaten at a Perkins - have driven by quite a few. I'll make a pit stop in Matamoras for food from time to time - your choices there are McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell (now closed), and Wayback. If you want a sit-down place that is clean, politely and attentively staffed, with food that will bring you back to your childhood, this is your place. I ordered chicken noodle soup (arrived hot) and the meatloaf (OMG). Just wonderful. If you have room, order some pie (coconut cream, holy crap) or take one home with you. Not much to say - it's typical American fare. Prices are great, and the food is consistent. Under my tips, I advise you not coming between 11 and 2pm on Sundays. It is overcrowded, the waitstaff can't keep up, I've had dirty silverware, and the food does not come out fast for groups 4 or more quickly enough. However, when the food comes out, it is definitely hot/warm. Do not expect to get out under an hour if you come during this time on Sundays. Stopped here for breakfast. I haven't been here in a while, however Perkins have made some pleasant upgrades on their menu and they add more beverage selections. The service was friendly and Super Fast. We ordered our food and were eating within 10 minutes. This is noteworthy because the restaurant was pretty packed. The food was pretty good. Hubby had the country steak skillet. I had a build a meal. Nothing fancy..:just bacon, eggs, toast, and tater tots. Although I didn't indulge, the desserts looked delicious. I visited a couple months ago, I ordered the steak and peppers and it was absolutely delicious! I am a light eater and never finish my plate but I was pretty much licking everything that would come off of it that day! Never enjoyed feeling stuffed in all my life! This place was great! I've never been to a Perkins restaurant, despite seeing them all the time on road trips when I was growing up. My family was more of a Taco Bell/Burger King kinda family on road trips, haha. Anyways! My friends and I were seated promptly, and our waitress was very nice and patient. The menu is filled with pretty much anything you could think of [salads, burgers, breakfast, deep fried foods, homestyle meals], like a typical American neighborhood themed restaurant. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Salmon with broccoli and a baked potato. The salmon was cooked wonderfully; it had that great firm/flakey texture and was seasoned right. My potato was a little over cooked, but nothing a little butter couldn't fix. The house rolls that were served with the meals were tasty as well. I was more impressed with the portion size for the price, I left feeling very full for $13! I wish I had enough room in my stomach for their baked goods; the pies and giant muffins looked so pretty and appetizing! Overall, I was very satisfied. Definitely one of the better chain experiences I've had. I hope if I visit another Perkins in the future, it'll be like the visit I had here! read more
