I have been a customer of Perkins for over a decade. Typically I have a fantastic experience there. Their wait staff is quite positive, food is good, has generous portions, and has a family friendly atmosphere. However, I have developed a dairy allergy within the past 4 years that was confirmed recently. I am prescribed epinephrine. When I visited home I went out to eat here twice. On both occasions I informed staff of my allergy. The first time, I asked for toast as a substitute for pancakes/french toast since they have dairy in them. Regardless I had a reaction both times. The first time I dismissed, as it seemed everyone was well intentioned and mistakes happened. The second time, I had received my toast with butter on it. I asked our server and she told me they hadn't put anything on my toast, I was sure they had, as I could see the butter as well as more on the plate itself. She took it back and gave me plain dry toast. Nonetheless I still had a reaction. The server was kind, however, I didn't appreciate someone attempting to tell me that there was not something that was indeed there. Especially when dealing with a food allergy. I likely will avoid dining here in the future as it is not allergy friendly. For those who do not have food allergies, this is a great option. read more

Absolutely award winning homemade ranch here. For just under $18 I got the Gorgeous Omelet, regular sized onion rings with a side of ranch, and a bottle of diet IBC root beer. The omelet had Gorgonzola, tomato chunks, and ham pieces and was fine. The wheat toast was oddly incredible- nutty, sweet and chewy, very delicious. This is a quaint location in Hudson and although the place is a regular Perkins, the food is so-so. I believe my half of the French dip sandwich was the smallest I've seen. The banana cream pie had nuts (!) in it, which I've never seen, and personally, I could have used more bananas. I found the cure for constipation and it's the food at Perkins. Man...so disappointing. First let's start with the sanitary conditions - The bathrooms are beyond disgusting. If any water comes out of the spigot it's not hot. Trash cans are filled and overflowing onto the floor at 10am and the floor grate is off leaving a large hole in the floor. The men's bathroom was unusable with the entire toilet spray with feces. Secondly - The table was cleared but not wiped down. It had coffee stains and food crumbs still on top. Had to send my silverware back due to a sticky oily residue on the fork and knife. Was it ever clean?...Who knows :( Thirdly - The food was less than average. I had the California Avocado Eggs Benedict. The eggs were WAY over cooked. The yolk was hard and pasty. The English muffin was soaked in grease. My guest had a patty melt that was the same - SOAKED IN OIL/GREASE and lacking in any taste. The quality of the food and cleanliness of the environment is well below average standards. Finally and the last critic - Our server was fantastic, but the lady taking our money when we paid never asked us how our meal was like she did for the customer in front of us. I don't know...maybe she could tell we had a lousy experience and didn't want to hear about it. Anyhow, we will never go back and if we do it's only to watch the place get torn down to the ground. UPDATE: The manager did respond back to apologize. He seemed to be surprised, but if he was actually present in his establishment and did a walk through he would have seen what we saw. Do not recommended for their poor customers services and bad food quality. The server was nice to begin with, but then she got more and more impatient and rude after beverage. We ordered an omelette, a skillet and a waffle. All the color of the egg dishes looks odd - we were wondering why first then we realized: this is the color you would get if you don't clean the pan between dishes. I was in the area for two weeks and I tried pretty much all restaurants that were available on Uber Eats at the time. I've never dined at the restaurant so I cannot speak to their services. But the food was simply the best in the area. I could see they cared their food; like tomatoes in the pasta looked and tasted home roasted. A little thing like that really makes difference. Our first and last time there. We've lived here a year and had not tried it yet. The manager on duty was seriously loud and her admonitions and conversations with the staff and patrons were obnoxious and disruptive to our lunch. We heard every word of every interaction and we were seated in the middle of the restaurant. "Josh shouldn't charge his phone at the register", "don't charge the customer for the hasbrowns because they're a potato substitution not a side", "I am the MANAGER and only I can check you out" it went ON and ON. And don't get me started on the "silverware roll" discourse. Until today, I had no idea that the staff had to roll "40 napkins per shift daily except on Sundays when it's 50 rolls!" That super loud conversation took place with employees chiming in from the kitchen, front desk and dining area. They took my drink order but forget to request my husband's drink order. As for the food- it was adequate. His breakfast skillet was good but lukewarm. I requested my salad with the dressing on the side but it came out dressed and had to be remade. We planned to order coffee and pie but the check was placed on the table midway through our meal without being asked if we wanted anything more. The food was reasonably priced albeit not cheap. Diners, beware! I was dining with friends at the Hudson Perkins and as far as I know, everyone else enjoyed their dinners. I ordered the southwest salad that has small chunks of chicken as well as greens, corn and bean salsa and avocado. All was going well, until I dug into the chicken and came out with a piece that was completely RAW. I was told that they don't cook the chicken in the restaurant ( well certainly not this piece), but that it came precooked.I don't know who their supplier is, but they should make a change. This is extremely dangerous. Of course I couldn't eat my salad - who knew what had come in contact with the raw chicken. They offered me another - but I refused. They did take it off the bill and gave us a free piece of pie to go. But I'm still thinking about the possibility of my getting a salmonella infection or of another diner getting one. read more

My wife went here with her church group and liked it, so she suggested I go with her sometime. We went on a Wednesday and I have to say I was impressed. Waitress was nice and attentive, yet not too. Wednesday we found out was senior's night with a discount. We both had the Chicken Tenders, and it was wonderful. I had never been a fan of Perkins, but a dear friend who is 96 years old enjoys it and as a result I have been there frequently during the last six months. I am not saying everything has been fine dining establishment perfect.... but for a chain restaurant I have had some very good meals, and today I had a problem that was handled both quickly and very well. My companions had egg-based dishes, but I had the tilapia (which was more than generous and tasty) with sides of rice pilaf and grilled vegetables. Mid-meal I found a small black hair or fiber in my rice and brought it to our waiters attention. The manager appeared immediately, took my entrée off the bill and offered us complimentary deserts. Having owned a restaurant I know these things happen- it could have been in the rice when it entered the restaurant for all I know. In this day and age customer service is lacking in a lot of places- but today our waiter and management handled it perfectly!!! Impressive! read more

Sadly, yet another chain restaurant don't. I went here with a bunch of my out-of-state relatives as well as my family and parents, and my dad nearly got food poisoning. We went for brunch and the restaurant seemed like any old Perkins. Everyone's food seemed fine, until my dad tried to cut into his fried fish. Sure, it was fried on the outside, but the fish on the inside was semi-FROZEN. How in the world do you serve deep fried frozen fish? We told the server who got the manager and he apologized and gave my dad a $2 off voucher for his next meal. Yes, that is right, Perkins wanted my dad to come back to their restaurant and eat another death-ensuring meal costing $2 less. The manager did not even offer to compensate for my dad's entree or ask if he wanted anything else to eat instead. Had Perkins handled the situation appropriately, I would have rated them better, but they seemed to have forgotten the customer in this case and did not understand that things could have been a lot worse. The manager in this restaurant definitely needs to be retrained as do the cooks and those eating there should be advised that their food could also be just as inedible if they do not pay attention. read more
