Service non existent. We ordered tea and they brought lukewarm water in a carafe that was used for coffee. Great if you want very weak tea tasting very much like coffee. Could not get anyone to rectify this. Waited 40 minutes in an almost empty restaurant for breakfast. When we still didn't receive it we complained and was told it's on its way out. Wrong order. We left after informing the manager who did not appear to care. Perkins wake up!!!!!! You need new people who care in Brainard running and working in this place or shut it down. I went in on 7/2/26 to order a specific pie for a birthday celebration on 7/5/26 to be picked up at 2 p.m. I arrived to pick up the pie and was told they didn't make it...followed by lame excuses. I waited to post about Perkins until I'd been there a couple times because one bad experience could just be a bad day. When it comes down to it, the chef needs to be fired if we're being honest. Ordered one of their specials and it looked like a mini version of the photo, if the photo had been burnt to a crisp. The funny part was that the you could tell he tried to hide the burnt pancakes by flipping them upside down to show the less burned side. Our food arrived extremely bland. Even salt would have been something, but there was just nothing there. Like eating paper. Their syrup was watered down very obviously. Even the coffee tasted like water dyed brown. I will say there was one good food item they brought us, the prepackaged diced fruit. Good job, farmer. I gave a little grace because the hostess was kind and informed us they were backed up and running slow. But two waitresses for 6 tables total is a little ridiculous to get backed up on. I picked Perkins today to give them a second chance and because it feels more open and less cramped than 371 diner, however; I forgot that Perkins has a special on flies. 3 per customer. If you're looking for breakfast and want a Denny's feel, save yourself the hassle and just go to 371; cuz Perkins doesn't hit the way it should. If the manager wants to get more people in the restaurant, things I'd fix: pest control, a chef that knows how to cook, and waitresses that actually remembers when someone asks for water or Cholula. read more

Very very slow service. Portions have shrunk a lot. I think I got 8 French fries in my order. The omelettes have shrunk by half. And the prices have gone up considerably. The wait times for your meal are way too long, even when the restaurant isn't very busy. Sorry Perkin's, you gotta up your game for us to return. read more

Went to perkins on 18th of August. 1 person was there in the restaurant. 5 minutes to get seated. Noticed 6 tables that we could see had not been cleaned. Took our order and 45 minutes later got our food. Finished eating. Had 2 ask twice for our to go pie and bill because we wanted to leave. Got up to pay. I don't even know where to start. We came here this morning (June 13th), with a party of 6. We waited way longer than we should have. Two parties after us got their food first. My burger I ordered was room temperature, if that. The fries were good. My spouses entire meal was WRONG. First they told him they didn't have hash browns. Whatever, we understand that. I was fortunate enough to live in this small town in MN for a few years, and this was my favorite spot. Breakfast, lunch, late night, whatever it was, there was something nice and wholesome to eat. I think Perkins, is more of a Midwest chain, because I have not found it anywhere down south. When I go back, I always make time for atleast one Perkins outing. I always get the Chicken Tender Melt. Yes this is a chain restaurant, but it is probably one of my favorite sandwiches anywhere. It is so basic, but so good. Afterwards, you have to get a slice of the banana cream pie to wash your food down. I look forward to my MN trips just to eat one of my favorites! read more

Perkins has a gluten free menu, but you have to ask for it. I ordered the whitefish and shrimp on rice. Really like it - was hot and good tasting. I asked them to hold the seasoning but they forgot to do that on the asparagus, so they made it up again. My wife had one of the last remaining turkey dinners and the waitress sprinted back to the kitchen to hold her order. You do have to monitor the waitress and cook, but our server was amazing. She smiled at me! I met the new manager and he is a winner! I told him some of the previous problems and he's going to work on that. Was vacationing in Nisswa for an extended weekend and decided we wanted to get away from the other "tourists" and sit down for a quiet yet familiar breakfast. Outside appearance looked a little run down, but a Perkins is a familiar name- also safe for the kids because I know they will eat. I was dining with my mother, a friends and 1 year old twins. We walked in through the doors, to the host stand and stood there for about 5 mins. Meanwhile I group of patrons were standing at the register waiting for someone to check them out. A couple waitresses walked by not even acknowledging we were standing there and that their lobby was now packed with people either waiting to pay or get a table. Finally, a woman walked by and said to my party of 5, "hold on I'll be about 5 mins or so". This threw me off a bit as I was standing there holding two eagerly hungry kids. (I am allergic to the Histamine in them, so therefore allergic to mushrooms.) I don't know if the chef was just lazy and didn't clean properly but if I wasn't paying attention I could've eaten it. Absolutely brutal. Walked in, place was half empty and we had to be put on a wait list for 10+ minutes with one couple ahead of us. Got our table and only 3 of the 7 of us got silverware (then heard one of the staff say they had zero clean silverware and none rolled). Waited another 10 minutes for anyone to come get our drink order and by that time we were ready to order our food also. Took 15 minutes to even get our drinks, 7 waters-2 coffees and a sprite. It then took an HOUR to get our food. 2 plates were cold, 1 wrong but had waited to long to care at that point and at least 1 plate that we noticed was clearly not cleaned. He had a breakfast dish that had no veggies and there was green streaks on the plate. When we got our bill we were supposed to have 4 separate checks, it was all on 1 but split up as "seats" on the single ticket and was only 3 ways. And the time stamp on it was TWENTY minutes after we had actually ordered the food. When we went to pay and mentioned how it was insanely slow service and waited an hour for the food the girl at the counter had the audacity to say it's because "the cooks want to make sure every dish is perfect. So when it gets busy it takes longer". That's absolutely a joke of a response when we had a dish wrong, dirty dishes, and as she said that we heard another guest at a table by the front send his steak back because it was completely raw. And the table next to us had a dish wrong also. Don't lie about it being slow service because things are going to be "perfect" when that's not even remotely close to accurate. We understand being short staffed, everyone is, but you can just say that and not come up with a BS answer. Will never go back and will gladly steer people away. It shouldn't take 2 hours to go get a meal, especially at a chain like Perkins. I wouldn't wait that long for food anywhere, let alone a place that serves mediocre breakfast food. And it wasn't busy either. At one point we were the only table in the entire big middle section and maybe only a couple other tables. Just unacceptable. read more

We've visited many a Perkins Restaurants and this one is a real disappointment. Sad because we live close by. We'd been there many times and noticed the cleanliness was mediocre at best, but the last time was the worst. The walls in the booth had not seen a cleaning in a long time. The syrup containers were covered in old syrup and I noticed after being halfway through my half baked pancakes that there was a hair on my plate. After 2 meals here, I believe since on each visit I had the same result, it may be a consistent pattern. First the staff is great, however; (now the rough part) the kitchen has sacrificed quality for speed. Last night had the salmon with citrus rice and mac and cheese. The small cooked part of the salmon was great, the rest was sushi (raw), mac and cheese good and the rice was well rice; seems the citrus part got left out. This morning being fair gave them a second chance, and well the kitchen fell flat again, biscuits were rubber (over nuked) and the tablespoon of gravy though tasty did little to cover the biscuits.... Oh, our food was being plated in the kitchen. 15 minutes later, here is our food, cold, burnt hash browns, had to ask for our pancakes, and away our server went. By this time, I couldn't even eat anymore. Lost interest and wasn't even hungry. Asked for our check, but that was a mess too. Server gave another table our check, and gave us their check, but she fixed it by scribbling around on it. I got a menu and the check was wrong of course NOT in our favor. I asked the waitress if she could fix it and she wanted to argue with me that I wasn't including the tax. She handed us a $1.00 bill to compensate! WOW!!!!! How hard would it have been to reprint a correct check? Never were we asked though this 2 1/2 hours if we needed anything, how we were doing, or even any compensation! SOMETHING should have been compensated! Both my husband and I have been in the restaurant business most of our lives and this is way below standards. Not one good thing to say about the place. We found our own to go box and left the cash at the check out counter, because that was a cluster at the counter with guests when we left too. Shame on you Perkins for not compensating your guests! 2 1/2 hours! JOKE!! This delayed me in spending time with my Father on Father's Day, but no one cares. read more

This is the best place to go when you don't want to go home and it's like 3 in the morning. Late night menu with half price pie and appetizers and cheap pancakes make this, in my eyes, the only place to go after 9 pm. I have been here so many times for pie and tea the staff have started recognizing me. I have also been part of endless bombardments of after concert parties unplanned going to perkins of over 30 teens at a time and all I've ever gotten was patience and kindness from the staff. The food is what you expect. It won't blow your mind, but it will fill your stomach and satisfy your craving for diner type food. Seriously the only good late night place in town.
