I would highly recommend Passport for many reasons! The staff have been incredibly hospitable, and friendly. The food is so delicious, I love how the menu changes monthly. I will always have a reason to come back and try something new. I use to be married to a Nigerian man and really have been craving the food! The Suya is spot on! And I love how the Suya and Jollof rice actually had the heat! Nigerian food can be very spicy and Passport made it happen. The meat pie has a lot of good flavor and less heat (spice). The meat pie dough is different but very delicious. It reminded me more of a buttery croissant! Janel and Tatianna were my servers! They really made me feel like I was VIP! The location has been nicely renovated with softer colors and still a rustic and clean feel on the inside. The staff are very friendly and the bathroom is clean; despite having a little bit of slow service. We ordered the steak burger and the Mediterranean chicken skewers and the meat was divine. This is a really cute place located in the cute small town feel of brainerd. Plenty of gift shops around. I felt like this place stood out because they have some hipstery menu options. There's street and lot parking which does fill up fast on the busy days. The place itself was quiet on a Saturday at 1:30pm. Very cute and decorated with plants on the inside I indulged on the Bloody Mary and the wild rice dragon bowl. The bowl sounded light and delicious. The smoked salmon was an excellent smoky flavor that stood out to me. I felt that the bowl was a missing a complimentary sweetness to it though. The walnuts added such a dull crunchy taste that didn't serve much purpose. I would've liked to see maybe some pecans or cranberries instead? I would've liked to see a little more apple slices as well. The creamy balsamic was amazing! I thought it was ranch at first, I have never seen a creamy balsamic like this. I would recommend not to dump the dressing onto the dish all out at once because it looses its flavor real fast. The bloody tasted like a simple bloody. I wished a place like this used their own mix. Instead they use zing-zang which isn't unique at all and anyone can get that mix at the liquor store. P Prices were fair and so was the service. Stopped here for an early dinner before the Escape room across the street and the service was super kind. I loved that they did a soup flight that allowed you to try everything. The server was also really nice about my friend who is gluten-free I have to say, though my steak dinner and the broccoli side had way too much of the jar garlic on it. I also did not love the Italian meatball soup, it had little pieces of chopped up salami that made it taste kind of funky. The inside was super cute and the music was pretty decent! Just came here for the first time and the food was absolutely amazing, we ordered the veggie lasagna, and the spring roll salad. Service was great but it does take a little bit of time for you to get your food, I think because they make everything super fresh. My wife and I went here for a date night dinner. Very artistic and memorable decor with an overall fun ambiance. Service was attentive but didn't seem like they were excited to make recommendations or ask us anything personal about our visit. I got the beef and cheese sandwich which was decent but not something I'll get again. I went twice while I was in town, the first time I sat and ate, and the second time I got food to go. The first time I got the Athena burger, very delicious. And the waitress was great! I got the Sage Sketti, to go the second time. The salad was beautiful and good. The spaghetti was super spicy to me, I am the first to acknowledge that I don't have a high spice tolerance, but I had thought spaghetti was pretty safe, and I didn't see anywhere in the description that it was spicy. I picked it up at the time they gave, but I got the impression the food might have been waiting a bit, and I'm guessing that's why the pasta seemed a bit over cooked. The meatballs were pretty good though. And the garlic bread was a roll instead. So the first time I thought it was totally worth it, but I wouldn't pay $20 for that spaghetti again. read more
