    Garden salad

I haven't been to a Perkins in years, but I was hungry and this one is located by Grandpa's Cheese barn, so I thought it was a decent stop on my way to Youngstown. It was relatively busy on a Friday afternoon, but the service was quick. THey have a really extensive menu, but it was hard to find a vegetarian, or even bacon free option. I had wanted breakfast, but they didn't offer anything that I could find that din't include bacon or pork sausage. For lunch, even the chicken sandwiches had bacon. I went with fish and chips and was plesantly surprised, particularly because it was about $12. The portion was really generous and both the fish and the chips were hot and crispy. The salad was mediocre - kind of meh iceburg lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, stale-ish croutons. Maybe not the greatest option, but I had a decent meal at a good price. They have 2 gender-neutral/family bathrooms that were clean enough.

Great service, fair prices, tasty food. Clean environment well worth the stop. The staff was shorthanded and still were efficient.

Sam was our server. This is the first Restraunt where the picture of he cheeseburger looks like what was served. Amazing.

Last meal at Perkins in Ashland. The back dining area was gross...looks as though it is going to be painted, but should not be used until it is DONE. service extremely slow! Waitress not at all friendly or welcoming. Restrooms DIRTY. Guys at the register were getting a lot of complaints but were very pleasant.

My host was Dylan. He seated us. The food was edible. The atmosphere was like that of an Ashland Perkins. Would come back.

Our visit was mostly the gift shop and grocery store. The grocery store was a great stop for snacks. They had some delicious pies. At least the cheese and blackberries one I had was delicious. And since the crust is great, I would imagine they were solid choices. They had a nice selection of Amish popcorn and maple treats too. The gift shop is large and has a good selection of items. The yard decor and patio furniture were all fairly impressive. Some things were even Buckeyes themed! The leather goods were the other highlight. I thought the rucksacks were great and had me wishing I could take a hobbit adventure But, the highlight for my sister was a real/ nice belt that she is excited about. My highlight was the pecan turtle I had for dessert. It's a great spot in Amish country and the service was very pleasant.

I feel like there is something for everyone here! My husband thought the Dutch apple pie was out of this world. I thought it was different because it was chopped oats. We were not a huge fan of the chocolate chip cookies, the texture kinda got me, and the chocolate chips were an interesting flavor. My mom thought the pecan tarts were so yummy. I could literally taste how fresh and homemade that dough was, I thought it was very good as well, but probably would try something else instead next time. The cinnamon roll was interesting because I thought it was a lot more Joey than we used to and it had an icing on top. I actually really liked it. I am not someone that likes the super glazed sweet stuff so this was the right amount for me. My husband and I were not huge fans of the Fry pies. They were glazed, which is a personal preference. But the filling was just too much for me, I like more writing than filling, especially in the middle. It was a little overwhelming. I also felt like they were filled with more of the canned stuff rather than fresh bc of the consistency. The fresh sourdough bread was out of this world. I'd definitely recommend getting a bread loaf!!!

We have tried many baked goods in the area and I have to say the glazed donuts were one of the best I have had. So light, pillowy and full of flavor. But the workers are nice about it. So it's fine. First floor you can order food and then eat it outside or in the patio area. Hot dogs are good. You can also get ice cream and sides like onion rings. All prices are pretty average for a cafe. The other part of the first floor are savory snacks and soups, jerky, dips, pretzels, popcorn, crackers, jelly's, teas and such. You can try it all. Prices are about mediocre. Not cheap but not outrageous. Upstairs are all the cheeses, dressing, sausages, jarred condiments. Again you can get a taste of most anything. Cheeses are from all over the world and all types spicy, sharp, dill, bacon, champagne, almost anything you can think of. Prices are more expensive than Giant Eagle, Trader Joe's, Aldi's and most stores. But the combination of cheese flavors are pretty unique. Something you can't just get at those other stores. And think of it as a treat. You're not going to buy that cheese every week. So a treat is nice. Overall it is a fun experience for the whole family. We didn't go to the chocolate Sweeties side. But I am sure that is amazing too. You can eat at the cafe, buy some snacks, treats and cheese. It's fun and you don't do this every day. At least that's how I look at it. $50 dollars later. LOL! I did buy some treats as gifts too. So that is another option to consider.

Of course I had to pull my my Yelp app to see if this place was worth the visit. Off rip it had 4+ stars and lots of reviews. On the review it said it is Ohio's premier cheese and chocolate destination. I had never heard of this place and I have lived in Ohio for years. Anyways they do sell LOTS of cheese and chocolates, jellies meats, honey and other little items. They have an upstairs and downstairs of stuff, they have separate buildings you can go in.They have stuff for kids like an outdoor game area. They have samples throughout and you can ask if you want to try something. We did end up going back once we left Cleveland, but it was as crowded or even more when we came back. We were able to get some samples of cheeses and they gave us a card where we could order on the website. They have spreadable cheeses and meats. I would have liked to have spent more time there to see and taste but our time was limited. They have a little food restaurant but we did not go inside to try anything. I ended up purchasing some homemade fudge and it was delicious. The customers and the staff was nice as well and we were greeting as soon as we arrived. I think one of the employees was cooking some bacon, and who doesn't love bacon. I didn't get to try any because everyone was right there waiting for the bacon to be done so they could get their sample. I would like to find out what time during the day that they are not so busy so that I can really enjoy my time there. But it was the weekend so everyone and their mama's was there to visit. lol I will come again I think I may try to go during the week so that I am able to walk through and enjoy what this place has to offer.
