Stopped in on a late Friday morning for the first time after hearing good things. The place had a light, airy feel. It just FEELS like a clean and modern breakfast place. It was 75% filled so I was seated immediately. Right away I ordered a Bloody Mary...It was Friday so what the hell. A nice tasting drink, made better with their In-House Infused vodka. It came garnished with a pickle spear and a big piece of delicious candied thick cut bacon. I ordered the Breakfast Poutine, which was a layer of fried cubed breakfast potatoes, a layer of French fries, then sauce.. I couldn't decide between the Sausage gravy or the Hollendaise sauce so I had half/half, which smothered the potatoes. On top of that was what looked like a small cheese omelet, with bacon and sausage pieces on top. It was quite good. The sausage gravy was good, but the Hollendaise was the best I've ever tasted!, which made up for the lack of cheese curds in the dish. Next time, I will get a poached or over easy egg on top instead of the scrambled, and ask for cheese curds...you gotta have the melty cheese! Is it better than the Breakfast Poutine I had in Montreal? No. But it is the best I've had in Minnesota. Super friendly staff rounded out my pleasant experience at Perk Up Kitchen. I had a pesto chicken sandwich with fries and a side of greens. It was absolutely delicious! Despite the place being crazy busy everyone was pleasant. We chose to sit at the bar so we were able to sit right away which was awesome. I loved the decor inside the restaurant it was so bright and cheerful and reminded me of how it would be eating at home in mom's kitchen. Very clean dining room area. The focaccia was homemade, my daughter had homemade strawberry jam with her meal and that was amazing. Everything had such good flavor and you could taste each individual flavor and they melded together perfectly. The fries were crispy without being dry yet they didn't have any greasiness to them. The dipping sauce was delicious and had to be homemade. The greens had a light maple vinaigrette which was unbelievably good. Everything was just divine! They even gave us free pastries for dessert because it was Mother's Day. read more

A new go to! We live walking distance from Perk Up and the few times we had tried to previously go there was a line, so I stopped in mid week for breakfast on my own and sat at the bar. I met who I presume was the owners husband who explained that everything is made from scratch daily ("we some times make 5 batches of pancake batter a day") and is woman owned. The staff from bakers to the kitchen to the servers was kind, friendly and outwardly cared about my experience. Now I can count on one hand how many times I have ordered a breakfast skillet at a restaurant, but the waitress said it was her favorite and it would allow you to try both the savory and the sweet homemade jam --- IT WAS FANTASTIC! Catch me there once a week for a cup coffee and just that! I brought home a scone in which my boyfriend is still raving about. read more

Bright, inviting and fresh describes the atmosphere here. The service is friendly and attentive. They have a nice list of cocktails some traditional others specially ones. I had a Bloody Mary that was very enjoyable with just a hint of spice. The toppings included a pickle, bacon, and an olive. All enjoyable. The bacon had some sugar on it which was a really nice contrast to the other flavors. They have a nice sized food menu with lots of options. For my meal I had the Sunday in Italy a frittata with red peppers, tomatoes, spinach, garlic, cheese and pesto served with fruit and toast. The frittata didn't have much flavor and while it certainly wasn't bad with ingredients like pesto and garlic I'd have expected far more flavor. The amount of fruit was generous. I'd go back but I'd probably order something else. The prices are reasonable and I do over all recommend. read more

First, the restaurant was moderately busy, but the hostess stuck us in a terrible table right by the rest rooms and with in 2 foot of two other guests who were having a business meeting. We could hear their conversation and we made an effort to ignore what they were saying. Foolishly we did not request to be reseated. Second, we ordered the breakfast skillet and the ricotta lemon pancakes. Both were disappointing. The skillet was mostly potatoes- very little egg and sausage. It needed heavy doses of ketchup and salt and pepper to give it any taste. The pancakes were ok, but the ricotta was grainy. Overall, very mediocre. Finally, relative to other comparable restaurants - we thought the prices were $2 to $3 higher per menu item. Given the poor quality of the food items - the prices were exceptionally high. read more

My wife and I decided to try something new and locally owned as we often do on the weekends when I'm not on tour! We saw Perk up kitchen awhile back and said, we have to give that place a try, we already frequent their coffee shop a few miles away. And when I tell you this place is good, I mean it is good, great service, awesome food and a very good menu selection. Very clean and open with lots of outside light, plus outdoor seating. It's small and there will probably be a wait depending on the time you come, so be patient cause the table turns are pretty fast! read more

Went to this restaurant after a hockey game while in town. This place comes with great reviews so we decided to give it a try. First, you need to know that it's small. Second, you should probably make a reservation. We waited about 40 minutes. We ordered breakfast. The tables are pretty close so you can see other patrons food. The people next to us had the classic breakfast, the guy had a breakfast skillet and they split an order of Cinnamon Pecan pancakes. It all looked amazing. I ordered the classic breakfast and the wife ordered the breakfast skillet and after we left, we both said we wished we could try those Cinnamon Pecan pancakes. There's a reason this place has a long wait. There's a reason you should make reservations. Our breakfast was amazing. We will be back in the area next weekend and want to try those pancakes. There's a great chance you'll wait to get a table, but that's a good sign it will be worth it. The check in service they use is great: you add your name and number on their iPad and you get a text when your table is ready -- you can even see where you are in line. The food was awesome. Ricotta lemon pancakes with raspberry syrup were amazing as were the scrambled eggs. Banana bread French toast was also good. Make sure to try the bacon. It's so tasty and let's face it: you deserve a special treat like this bacon. You earned it! The inside of Perk Up is nice as it's one big open space with lots of tables. Wonderful attention to detail to have the jar of suckers for kids, it actually was a great distraction and bought us some extra time for the adults to eat. My only critique would be the kids portions are small: my 7,6 and 2 year olds devoured their meals quickly and were still hungry. My kids might just eat a lot though so I won't knock any stars off for that. Glad to have this kind of restaurant in Bloomington! read more

Amazing food, great service, we waited for 30 minutes, but it was worth it. There were three of us. I got the go banana's French toast(amazing). My wife got the spin dip(fresh and delicious), and my so. Got the chicken and waffles(he devoured it). It is a small place probably around 13 tables or so. But it is very nice. Also they do have cocktails. My wife got the espresso martini and I got a Bloody Mary both were fantastic. I believe this will be our new breakfast/lunch spot and we are looking forward to going back. read more

Breakfast, yes breakfast. So nice to sleep in. New place, clean, reasonably priced. Welcoming staff. A bit of the downtown Mpls warehouse look, mixed with Linden Hills. Our replacement for the now closed Zumbro Cafe. The cinnamon roll filling is to die for. A bit more frosting than I prefer, nothing your table knife cannot resolve. In my opinion, it beats Hazel's NE which upon arrival you're greeted with, "you have one hour". read more

We sat outside and it was nice, except for the road racers on Old Shakopee Road. Oh well small negative but the experience was really nice. We will go back again. This place is a must visit! Took my 8yo to lunch here and was not disappointed! While the kids menu wasn't for her, we both found something we loved! I got the black bean hummus wrap and am looking forward to my next opportunity to order it! The wraps are large and full of flavor. My 8yo got their version of a BLT wrap, and said it was delish! The side salad she got with her wrap had the most amazing dressing and the salad was devoured before the wrap was! The service was great, we were not forgotten, as we sat outside in the shade on the patio. I would go back, and recommend this place to others! read more

Decided to try this place for breakfast with my wife and we had to wait for a table, we waited around ten mins which was worth it, I had a cup of coffee and the avocado toast, good coffee, the avocado toast was on the ok side, I was pleased with our waitress, the place looked clean I didn't have a chance to check the bathrooms. My only problem was that we felt rushed to finish our food and to leave. They were trying to seat a large amount of people and needed our table to seat all of the guests. read more

The ambiance is good. The cinnamon roll was okay as were the cinnamon pecan pancakes. If gluten free or gluten intolerant the pancakes are blah. The topping for the lemon ricotta pancakes was good but with the bad GF pancakes it was not good. The turkey sausage is also very unremarkable. I will not be back. read more
