Definitely has potential. I went here for lunch with four of my colleagues. The dining room was busy but we were able to sit on the patio. The patio was very pleasant, well shaded on a hot August day. But about the time our food arrived the other patio patrons left and we were bombarded with yellow jackets (bees). Thankfully by then the dining room had cleared out some so we were able to move inside. The appetizer (Buffalo deviled eggs) arrived quickly. They were tasty and a decent number 8 halves). The entrees came out a bit spaced apart - first two, then one, and finally two more. It was a long enough time between that I grew worried that the first dishes might grow cold as everyone was trying to be polite and waited for the whole table to be served. The presentation was great! All of the dishes had lots of food and looked really delicious. My Sunday in Italy Frittata was just ok. One colleague got the special - Aloha Pancakes and she reported that they were a bit dry. The other three colleagues ordered lunch items (Join the Club - huge!, Parmesan Chicken Sandwich- looked good, Chef Salad - also huge) and seemed to enjoy them. This place took over the old Bruegger's Bagels I used to visit with my dad before school, so walking in was a really nostalgic experience. Food was good, unfortunately these guys are part of the new breed of restaurants that want to charge you a fee to use a credit card. Nickel and diming everyone for their cost of doing business. Just raise prices 2% for everything on the menu and be done with it. Are they gonna start charging us to wipe down the table before you sit down? I suggest skipping this place and just going to a normal restaurant that isn't gonna nickel and dime you for everything. They have been paying these fees since they opened and for 50 years. This is our new favorite breakfast/brunch spot. Every time we've been here the food and service have been top notch. People are friendly, the owner came out to talk to us and tell us about his plans for the place (and he has some serious restaurant chops!). But the food is the main attraction. Every dish we've ordered has been great. Cinnamon Roll French toast isn't new, but their take on it adds a little something extra. Cinnamon pancakes were delicious as well. The breakfast poutine could feed 20 (okay I'm exaggerating, but it's a ton of food). And the frittata was spot on. We expect to be back often. Oh, I almost forgot the mimosa and sangria flights. These flights are equal to four regular breakfast drinks at most places. So, plan to share. I personally liked the sangria flight with two mimosas plus red and white sangria. read more

As Bloomington residents we had to check out the new place in town. It was a Saturday around 1100 and some people were waiting for tables. We ended up at the bar which was fine with us. The inside is beautifully decorated with white tiles and accented with bold colors. It's nice and open inside but not terribly loud. We enjoyed the breakfast skillet, chicken and waffles and some banana bread. The banana bread was a great start before our meals! Chef offered three different butters for the bread and the chai butter was a winner! The breakfast skillet was pretty basic - the potatoes in it needed a little more seasoning I think. The chicken and waffles were amazing and I would recommend this to anyone!! There's a spicy honey drizzle over it that adds a perfect sweetness to it We were served really well and the owner(?) was telling us about the locally sourced ingredients. Huevos Rancheros are so flavorful. Not spicy enough for me so Jarrett recommended the Cry Baby Craig Habenero sauce and ohhhh it's so good! Try it out if you are looking for spice! We really enjoyed our late brunch at Perk Up Kitchen! The decor was beautiful! Very much like a modern kitchen throughout. Our wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our time as well. We started with a mimosa flight, which was a fun way to begin our meal. When we come here again, we'll go straight for the Blood Orange Mimosa - so good! We split the Caprese Sandwich and Strawberry Cornbread Waffle. The Caprese Sandwich with fries was delicious!! I could eat it every day and not get tired of it. The Strawberry Cornbread Waffle... not so much. It tasted like a normal waffle with strawberries. I have nothing against a waffle, but the strawberry compote tasted exactly like skittles. Not something I wanted with my waffle... The food was good but nothing remarkable. However, the service was terrible. Our waiter kept rushing us to order and then he kept trying to take away our plates while we were still eating. After we finished eating, we were chatting and finishing our $5 cups of average diner coffee and the manager came over and told us we needed to leave because there were a lot of people waiting and they have a 90 minute limit (even though we'd only been there for 70 minutes). Today I came to perk up kitchen to enjoy a relaxing breakfast. I ordered a skillet. Unfortunately, I didn't understand how it was made... there was bacon all throughout the meal. So I requested something different. The waitress Jennifer did not seem to want to accommodate my request, but she did anyways. I requested the classic breakfast and stated I wanted just the eggs and potatoes, no bacon, assuming the rest of what came with the classic breakfast would be there. If she wasn't sure she should have asked, but instead of ordering the classic breakfast, she ordered me a side of eggs and a side of potatoes without confirming that's what I wanted. I said I wanted the classic breakfast minus the bacon. She When she brought out my new order, the eggs were way overcooked and on a tiny saucer, and the home potatoes were in another dish. I was expecting the classic plate minus the bacon but because she was so busy rushing to the computer when the restaurant was not even busy. My order was wrong for the second time. I did not even eat the eggs. They were so rubbery like and overcooked, and I took the home potatoes to go. On my way out, I expressed as kindly as I could to her my disappointment and instead of giving me a sincere apology she became very defensive which at that point got me really upset. Jennifer's service was poor. Her unwillingness to take time to hear what her customer wanted so that it would be right the second time around was also poor and her response to my disappointment was definitely poor. This is my second time having her as a waitress and both times I've come her energy is always rushed and not really willing to listen just as it was today . I hate to waste food and I almost did not send back the skillet, but the bacon had so much fat on it that I could not eat it. I thought the bacon was just going to be on top or on the side not throughout the entire meal. The way I received my second request made it apparent that they were mad that I had sent the food back. This is a beautiful place, but service matters. When people are paying $15-$17 for breakfast these days it should be some thing that makes you smile and that you enjoy. read more

I was influenced by TikTok to check out this breakfast spot and it didn't disappoint! When you first walk in, its clean and fresh atmosphere is welcoming, as are the staff! We came on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. The place definitely picked up after we got there but never felt cramped or uncomfortable. We started with the banana bread and it was classic. Nothing crazy or over the top, just simple but delicious banana bread! We then split the Flat-Finger Frankie frittata, which came with fruit, and the breakfast sandwich with potatoes. Both were great! The frittata was a perfect size and was piping hot! There was a ton of cheese on top, and a decent amount of meat on the inside. I will say it seemed to lack the bruschetta tomatoes, I only found a few in mine. However it was still delicious. The breakfast sandwich was awesome! The pesto was a curve ball I wasn't expecting and didn't know every breakfast sandwich needed! It brought such a bright and fresh flavor that made the sandwich next level! One thing I felt was lacking was the options for more coffee drinks. I'm not a plain hot coffee girl, but live an iced coffee or latte with breakfast and was kind of disappointed they didn't have any cold coffee options. Prices are fair. Cocktails $8 and up. Bloody Mary excellent. Pastries not displayed to catch your eye at bar. They bring water in a large glass bottle with plastic cork. They use plastic glasses which I like. Cups of coffee hot and steaming at about 16oz. Acoustics are excellent as kitchen is right there and open to dining room. No sounds of pots and pans clanging! Breakfast all day; lunch starts at 11am. Prices vary from sides to soups to breakfast and lunch. Fries are $2 extra with sandwiches. Our entrees $15 and $17 respectively. Breakfast sandwich yummy on light airy Foccasia bread. Hot and steaming with egg, cheese, sausage, avocado. Delicious and more than enough. Pan fried diced potatoes. Breakfast skillets look small we saw across from us. I had the. Club and turkey and ham were like fresh carved, lettuce, tomato, real cheddar cheese slice, great whole grain toast and bacon. It was yummy! Very nice unisex bathrooms either way nice foyer outside of them decorated with credenza and decor plus a bowl of suckers. Sweet treat! Cooks about 5 are all in black dress. Staff in jeans and grey shirts. Looked comfy! Appeared to be manager or two, four to five wait staff and hostess. $52 for two meals and two cocktails I did not mind the wait because service great. Good excellent and pleasant atmosphere and low noise. We waited about 20 minutes. You can eat at the bar but the stools are hard and pretty high. Staff very friendly from the moment you enter. Although this place is small and can get quite busy, it's always been a great experience and the to-go service is always super fast. Despite the smallness of the interior, it's very comfortable and bright inside and the staff are amazing. I love the breakfast sandwich, the pesto is incredible and every dish I've ordered here always seems to come with a complimentary (to the dish) side! Stopped in on a late Friday morning for the first time after hearing good things. The place had a light, airy feel. It just FEELS like a clean and modern breakfast place. It was 75% filled so I was seated immediately. Right away I ordered a Bloody Mary...It was Friday so what the hell. A nice tasting drink, made better with their In-House Infused vodka. It came garnished with a pickle spear and a big piece of delicious candied thick cut bacon. I ordered the Breakfast Poutine, which was a layer of fried cubed breakfast potatoes, a layer of French fries, then sauce.. I couldn't decide between the Sausage gravy or the Hollendaise sauce so I had half/half, which smothered the potatoes. On top of that was what looked like a small cheese omelet, with bacon and sausage pieces on top. It was quite good. The sausage gravy was good, but the Hollendaise was the best I've ever tasted!, which made up for the lack of cheese curds in the dish. Next time, I will get a poached or over easy egg on top instead of the scrambled, and ask for cheese curds...you gotta have the melty cheese! Is it better than the Breakfast Poutine I had in Montreal? No. But it is the best I've had in Minnesota. Super friendly staff rounded out my pleasant experience at Perk Up Kitchen.
