I had an amazing experience with Performance Insulation. Our hot water heater went out on Friday. They were able to come Monday at 8 AM to replace it. They quoted me both my current hot water heater brand and also an alternate brand which was less expensive. I appreciated that and went with the less expensive Rheem brand. Saved me $200! It only took two hours. Jim, the service man, was very experienced and answered all my questions. He took the time to explain how the hot water heater works. My house was cold and I met with Kevin Taylor to get a bid on reinsulating my house. He used an infrared thermometer to check for spots in the house where heat was leaking. He found no leakage through the walls, ceilings or skylights. He advised me to insulate the windows and gave me some good advice on the type of window insulation to get--his advice was also not to replace my windows as this would be very expensive and not result in additional warmth. I found him to be incredibly honest, knowledgeable and personable. read more

1-These guys showed up at my door last week without any appointment...left mr thinking it was a door to door scam. 2- Barely spoke any English, so I immediately told them to F off, but settled down and told them to call me to make a real appointment. 3- showed up the next day (still with no appointment) so I told them to have their boss call me, which he did. Finally, their crew showed up and I still hadn't been told any info about what they were going to do. So the crew let me read through 3 pages of things they were told I needed to add or fix. Right now they are cutting holes in my bedroom ceilings and still don't know what to expect. I think their Forman (who speaks English) should have come out first to look at my place and go over the upgrades. About 6 months ago I had Energy Assistance do an audit, but never received a list of their findings. read more

I recently had Performance quote then insulate the exterior walls and ceiling of our 400' addition and bathroom. They were very competitive with price and were able to negotiate to match a competitor. I appreciated that very much. We went with closed cell spray foam insulation due to wall thickness and needed R value and the work was done very sound. They also had an opening in their schedule and were able to complete the work within two weeks (which is amazing lead time currently). However, I noticed that when masking an exterior door before foam they stapled plastic on the outside of the house. I'm glad they used protection but in the process they damaged some extremely expensive, brand new, unpainted cedar shake siding. After complaining and multiple calls my sales rep simply ghosted and did not return the calls. Overall, good work. But if you are looking for good follow through and more attentiveness to your home maybe go elsewhere. read more

Johnny Durango from Performance Insulation was great! He showed up on time, with a mask, and wore shoe coverings upon entering the home. Johnny was polite and eager to assess our AC issue. He was able to immediately take a look at our furnace/vents and identified the issue right away. He rewired everything so the electrical was properly set and ready to go. He cleaned out the furnace and made sure everything (area around the unit, carpet, etc. )was cleaned up before he left. Hearing that AC kick on was music to our ears. Thanks again Johnny! read more

At first we were hesitant to use this company to have insulation blown into our walls due to some of the negative reviews. But, when we saw the reason for the negative reviews were due to communication issues and not the work done, we decided to give them a go. We couldn't be more happy with that decision. The whole experience was the best you could expect. Jennifer was very knowledgeable and the most helpful out of the 4 companies we received bids from. She asked many questions about our home that others didn't and offered solutions to help with the problem areas. The crew that did the install were fantastic. They were friendly and hardworking, plus very respectful of our home and landscaping. And, they cleaned the work area so you could hardly tell they were there. Had them come out and do some insulation for our new home in the crawl space - they basically laid out 6mm plastic, took 30 min tops, overall a really unprofessional job ...something my 10 year old kid could have done...charged me an arm and a leg .....so this is on me - I did the research and read HORROR story after HORROR story on what to avoid and well...that's basically what happen. When i reviewed the work done by "Jose" I told him it was sub par and that this business was essentially the exact horror story experience I was hoping to avoid....he laughed and I basically gave up and escorted him out. I would avoid this company - they do sub par work then use that as a up sell opportunity to basically do it right but for more money. read more

I'm giving 5 stars because this company stands behind its service. This company installed several mini-split systems in my home, and when one of the units did not work a repairman came out to fix the unit while it was under warranty. However, this year, the unit again went out, and this time the unit was out of warranty, however the company determined there was a leak and gave me the benefit of the doubt, assumed full responsibility and fixed it entirely without charge, and not only that, they helped inspect a totally different system they installed in the house and helped with a long standing ventilation problem, again all without any hassles or any extra charges. Set up appointment through Home Advisor. Really need help - insulation is blowing into house and I have asthmatic son. No one showed up or called. I finally call 30 min after appointment time and am told they will figure it out and get right back to me. 45 min later get a response - they cannot come today and will try to get someone there the next day. I explain I moved things around to be here today and am disappointed. Keep on being handed excuses. Am told that even if they come by the next day their MINIMUM charge is $450!! Before even looking. And that is as long as they don't need to do more work?? read more

I had four companies bid to insulate the finished attic in my 105-year-old house. Of the four, Jennifer from Performance was the most knowledgeable, understood exactly what I wanted done, and created a detailed and accurate proposal. Performance was also the most competitively priced. I feared the they might skimp on air sealing (probably the most important part!) but they hit every nook and cranny. I contacted Performance Insulation to receive a quote for insulating my attic and exterior walls. Steve returned my call and offered to schedule a walk through. He agreed to arrive at my home at 5:30 PM to accommodate my schedule. He called the night before to confirm the appointment and to let me know he would arrive between 5:30 and 6:30. Here is where things go poorly. Steve never arrived. Steve also did not call me to let me know he would not arrive. It has been five days since the scheduled appointment and I still have not received a call from Performance Insulation & Energy. I called Performance Insulation & Energy Services, Inc. and got Brian. I explained to him that I was having acoustic issues in my new home and needed a consultation and estimate. We set up an appointment. He was on time, personable, professional. Brian came into my home, looked around, took pictures, told me right away what the problem was (the Builder had built, essentially, an amplifier into each townhome via the centrally located, uninsulated, hollow-mantel fireplace - the cost to the builder at time of construction would have been negligible - thin rubber strip on the studs, a solid mantel, insulation) and told me he'd provide a detailed quote. He also disclosed that he was going to make a bid on a home being built by my builder but assured me that he was a professional, that our meeting was confidential, and that I was his client in this case, not the builder, and that he would in fact provide me with the written estimate. I told him that other contractors that have found problems and detailed them to me and told me they'd get me an estimate but have worked with the builder were never heard from again... He again assured me that he was a professional, that I was his client and that would not do the same thing... disappear. I haven't heard a word from Brian O. He has ignored 2 emails and 3 telephone messages. We had a verbal agreement that he was to provide me with a written estimate & details of the problem. This is very unprofessional. It's also unethical. The reason I was "attracted" to this particular provider was because he was an Energy Trust of Oregon provider which made me Trust him. He was also Home Advisor Top Rated. I have sent both Energy Trust of Oregon and Home Advisor details of my interaction with this company. I have left this "F" review on Angie's List as well. I'm very disappointed in the unprofessionalism and lack of ethics. Again.. he was in my home, took photos, and told me he'd provide a written estimate. ** *** UPDATE ** *** Got a text message earlier this afternoon saying "on the phone at the moment I'll call you back" and never got the call back so I was pretty bummed. JUST got an email saying that Bend Operations Manager has been asked to expedite my estimate. That's great news, right? I think so! my experience was good, Set up a walk through, got a bid, the bid was competitive. I scheduled them for SAP ( i needed to get the insulation in sap so we could sheetrock ) They showed up i think 2 days later and did the job in 1 day ( approx 900 sq ' ceiling and walls ) They did a nice job, were able to point out some easy things to make it better. Did the job for what they bid. All good. I would recommend them. read more

This place is completely unprofessional. I called to get a bid, and the secretary told me someone would call me later that day. 30 hours passes, nothing. I call back, and the secretary says that the guy that I need to speak to is on lunch, and that he will call me after lunch. 7 hours later, at 6:45 pm I receive a call that I just missed saying to call him back. I call back within 5 minutes and leave a voicemail. No answer..... The next day I call back again and leave another voicemail, no answer, no call back. Its been 4 days since he called..... No call back. So all in all, I've been trying to reach someone from this company for a bid for over a week. Are you kidding me?? Im done..... read more

This is second job they've done for me. First was to upgrade attic insulation by blowing in about a foot more. Second job was to repair and slightly upgrade the crawl space insulation. Existing insulation was missing in places and not properly supported when we bought the house. After the job was done, I could see that there was now no missing insulation and it was all tight against the subfloor. They arrived when scheduled, worked diligently, and cleaned up. Ian bid the second job about a year ago, quickly sent me a reasonable updated cost after I called, and had the job done about a week after I received the bid. He also gave me options to either repair the existing or remove and replace. It was more cost effective to just repair and properly support the existing insulation. The attic job was eligible for an Energy Trust rebate which I received and I tracked my natural gas use at approximately 10% reduction for the year. It was a smooth process from start to finish.
