When the significant leak from my dishwasher was discovered, I researched restoration companies, and (thanks to Yelp) found Oregon Restoration. The staff at the company, from estimation of damage services (Matt) to project managment (Danny and Meghan) was excellent. Each stage was explained, questions answered, options laid out, and actions scheduled. Company representatives negotiated well with my insurance company. And the "back office' staff were most heklpful in setting up payment services. Although (as so often with reconstruction) more problems due to leakage were discovered as the project progressed, leading to a longer project time than expected, I always felt I was in good hands. No detail was too small to be addressed, and "doing the job right" was al ways a high priority. My kitchen has been more than restored: it has been improved, and the results are beautiful. DO NOT USE OREGON RESTORATION. I strongly caution homeowners to stay far away from this company. In our experience, they were unprofessional, disorganized beyond belief, greed and rude. We hired Oregon Restoration for an insurance-funded residential repair project, and the process was plagued by prolonged delays, billing disputes, and repeated attempts to charge for work that was never performed. We waited months for any meaningful progress while living in an extended-stay hotel. Throughout the project, we were forced to reconcile invoices against the insurer's estimate ourselves, repeatedly pushing back on charges that exceeded or fell outside the approved scope. Subcontractor coordination was extremely poor - we spent months dealing with a flooring company they work closely with, only to find that when costs exceeded the claim budget, Oregon Restoration made no effort to identify a more affordable or appropriate alternative. Ultimately, we had to step in and manage that ourselves. By that point, we had already paid a $50,000 deposit, which made it difficult to walk away due to concerns about recovering those funds. Despite multiple attempts to resolve issues cooperatively, closing out the project required countless emails and phone calls. This experience was far more time-consuming and stressful than it should have been. I sincerely regret choosing Oregon Restoration. Their claim that they "do things differently" is a justification for inflating costs and maximizing their profit, rather than providing transparent or customer-focused service. read more

Mitigation of a roof leak after rain/wind storm. I woke up the day before my flight to visit family for the holidays and found a puddle on my living room floor. It turned out to be a leak that soaked two walls, and I had to find help fast. Oregon Restoration replied to me immediately while other companies took hours to respond. Their friendly office staff calmly walked me through what to expect in the process and sent help that day. Danny arrived right on time and was friendly, professional, and thorough. He let me look at his instruments as he assessed the extent of the damage, shared pictures with me, explained what they would do and helped me understand next steps. After that as I was traveling, he kept in contact with me to make sure I knew what was happening at home. He also worked with my roommates to help them understand what was happening and arrange work visits. Every person on his team was respectful and helpful, and they checked the progress of the drying process regularly. Danny worked with my insurance adjuster to make sure everything went forward smoothly. We bought a newer home build on old farm land. The water table in the area is very high (like most of NW Oregon). Because of that, water was visible in the crawl space. We had several companies come out to provide estimates and their opinions on how to correct the issue. The estimates ran from a new moisture barrier to full encapsulation (with a wild variation in price). Ryan (the owner) and Jason (his lead guy for crawl space work) came out and they recommended replacing the moisture barrier (taped together and up the sides) after a full perimeter trench with "perf pipe" and sump pumps at either end of the house. Don't get me wrong, the fix was not cheap but the work was well done. It required a full perimeter trench around the inside of the crawl space. They dug down through several inches of gravel and clay. The next day, the trench was full of water. The newly installed sump pumps had their work cut out for them. They put in a perforated pipe in the trench and covered it in drain rock (about 2 yards total). The pipe was terminated in the sump. Ummm... The onsite inspection appointment was set for a week out from the initial call and was a no-show (no phone call either). I called and asked how things went, then they rescheduled for a few days later. The quote process was equally slow. The quote was received 2-3 days after the inspection was incomplete, so add a couple more days and phone calls to get that fixed. Then let another week pass and another quote comes in from a different person at the same company. Apparently they have one person quoting "clean-up" and another person quoting "putting things back together" and the two people don't really compare notes or collaborate. Nor did anyone communicate there would be two quotes. I cannot begin to imagine how bad it would be if this company actually did the work. I can't rate Oregon Restoration high enough! I recently bought an old house and learned I had mold in my crawlspace. I was 'sold' shortly after Ambrosio, inspector and project manager, arrived and gave me his expertise and insights from his extended experience in this field. His capacity to clarify how to remedy it with someone like me, who is unfamiliar with this kind of project, made me feel remarkably comfortable to ask questions as he explained the different factors. I felt his commitment to help me understand while keeping my budget in mind. When I struggled with what I call senior moments, his presence was unwavering. After the crawl space inspection, he showed me some photos he'd taken. He explained some of the science involved to treat the mold and that the disgusting vapor barrier will be removed and replaced. When Ambrosio was not available, Ricky, another great inspector and project manager, was. They both visited the crawl space over the several days remediation was carried out by teams of technicians, including Tim, Jacob, Tony, Kyle, and Logan who also exhibited the company's character I had come to trust. As each team arrived and introduced themselves, they had attitudes that showed they were ready to work in the crawl space and emerged with their great attitudes intact! My experience with Oregon Restoration was mixed. The work in my basement rooms went on from the middle of June to the middle of September. During this time, I went on two short trips: one for five days, the other for four days. I gave the project manager the dates I was out of town, and asked that work not be done in my house during these time periods. The work was high quality, and they double-checked that rooms were cleaned thoroughly before testing, which was expensive. All three rooms passed testing on the first round. The biggest room, the washing and dryer room, I cleaned out myself to make it easier on the crew to do the work. (I was told initially that would save me money since it was crammed with years of stuff.) The biggest struggle with the company was that the guy who was the project manager communicated poorly. Repeatedly, I was told there were guys coming out, but days sometimes went by without anyone showing up. (Of course, life happens ... but rarely, if ever, was I given updates on whether guys would show or not.) The project dragged on, and I was left with no washer and dryer (they were detached for much of the work) for weeks on end. The dryer when re-attached wasn't done properly, and fell off. I communicated this to the project manager, and a big chunk of time went by before he came out to reattach it again. Soon after the project was finished finally -- the dryer tube fell off again, and I had to pay my regular contractor to come out and attach it properly. The initial assessment of the project was done by a man who was courteous and said they would "work around my schedule". In the end, I felt as if I was at the mercy of their schedules. When I expressed my frustrations to the project manager's boss, he took over the project and finished it up efficiently. He offered a discount for all the hassles, which felt honorable. In the end they took two hundred dollars off a job that cost over 12,000 dollars, which I felt was almost an insult, given my ongoing frustrations and that I spent at least that much emptying the large laundry room initially. I want to start by saying that this review is based on work that was completed just over one year ago now. I am just now writing this because In February 2019, we had water damage and mold issues in our master bath that were addressed through an insurance claim. First what went well: - Oregon Restoration did very thorough mold mitigation. They came out quickly and cleaned and dried the areas that needed to be addressed. - They arranged for a quick design consult with Trinity Floors. What didn't go well.... essentially the remaining 9 months. Yes... I could have carried a baby to full term in the amount of time it took to repair our master bathroom and make the remaining repairs that were required after their subs got involved. - Sometime during the first week of work, they had to send two or three separate vendors out for mold test, asbestos test, etc. During that time, my wedding ring set was stolen off the top of my dresser. That should've been enough for me to fired on the spot. - Once our bathroom renovation finally begin, it was a problem after problem. First off, we went away for a couple of days while our new flooring was laid and the tile work was being completed. I had chosen a light gray subway tile with a square 4 inch deep mosaic tile for the shower and bathtub area. I had chosen a dark gray slate-like tile with matching grout for our countertops. The floors Are a light gray faux wood vinyl. We got home to find: 1) Vinyl flooring had clearly been laid crooked. There wasn't a single wood "plank" that ran in parallel with any of our walls, 2) the light gray grout had been laid with our dark gray counters and dark gray grout had been laid in all of the tile with our light gray tiles in the shower and around the bath, 3) The wrong mosaic tile had been laid around the bath and shower. I asked that the tilers be replaced, but their approach is to give them another try, so the same guys came in to fix the job. Even after OR sent one of their drywallers to fix the problem, we are still left with an amateur job. (see pics) - When the flooring guys came out to fix the vinyl, they just laid a new layer over the top. During the install, they hit the shutoff valve to our toilet which caused it to leak and cause additional water damage, so we had to strip the floor back AGAIN, and bring blowers in to dry the floor out before the flooring was laid for the third time. - They threw out an important part of our shower drainage system when they did our demo. When they reinstalled our shower pan, they realized that they couldn't access the area of the drain that they needed to determine what part to order, so they cut a hole in our laundry room ceiling to get to it. They did a horrible job of texturizing the laundry room ceiling. It doesn't even come close to matching the texture pattern of the remainder of our house. - They laid a sticky carpet protector on our stairs and into our master during the entire job. Apparently the stuff is supposed to be removed regularly, but they left it on the entire summer and the tacky stuff attached to our carpet. Mind you, we had very nice grade of carpet that had lasted well for the 15 years we have been here. Once they removed the tape, the tacky material could not be removed from the carpet, so it attracted dirt. The carpet in our entire house had to be replaced... including two rooms that we had to pay for so we wouldn't have mismatched carpet. I am sure this was an incredible expense, so it is clear that they controlled cost as much as possible by selecting the lowest grade carpet available. I did challenge the lead contractor on whether the carpet sample was the same quality as our other carpet. He assured me that it was. I can tell you right now... After one year of carpet wear, this carpet looks matted and older than the carpet that we had for 15 years. This is going to be pretty long-winded, so please bear with me. We started working with OR a year ago when I discovered significant mold and water damage in my father-in-law's basement. We were referred to OR by a family friend. OR was straight forward with us about what was necessary to clean it up and made working with the insurance company a breeze by following up on missing items. About a month after this began, my father-in-law passed away unexpectedly. OR was sympathetic and more than helpful. They were patient with us as we had to wait for the probate process to begin. Their original work had to continue, and the mold remediation work was excellent and earned the house a clean bill of health for the basement. Gary, Seth and Ambrosio were all instrumental in making this happen. My wife and I decided to go all-in on updating the house at this stage given its importance to us. We considered our options of going with separate contractors. Given the circumstances of working through probate and our overall comfort with OR, however, we stuck with them to update everything that was last updated in 1990. Gary walked through the entire house with us, room by room, to determine our wishes. I have to imagine some of the changes we made as the remodel progressed were irritating, but they were incredibly patient with us. Gary was regularly available to my wife and I for questions by phone, email and text. It made the experience far more seamless, and we always felt like a priority. We unfortunately came across 3-4 other spots of mold and/or water damage, but OR was there to clean it up and give us piece of mind every step of the way. I do have some feedback about some of their sub-contractor choices as there are a few that have more than a little room for improvement. I cannot pin that on OR, however. I will add that Gary was able to stay on top of this project and make sure to politely push their subs when necessary. When we pointed out our concerns for some finer details, OR was accountable. I cannot expect anyone to be perfect. All I ask is that the effort and accountability to be there. In that regard, OR far exceeded expectations. In the end, the house now looks phenomenal thanks to their efforts. They provided valuable input about the right choice in flooring, tile, paint, plumbing and electrical fixtures. We are thrilled with the outcome. Given the extraordinary circumstances, I cannot recommend them enough to others for how well they came through. read more

Last Fall, after a big rain storm, we had water leaking down multiple floors in the house. I found Oregon Restoration, and they came out the very next day. Ken showed up on time, was super nice and took his time inspecting. I never felt rushed and felt comfortable asking any and all questions. We ended up going through insurance/different company but I greatly appreciated the service they provided. Fast forward to this year, once again, water damage... I called them and again, the next day Ken arrived. It was almost deja vu with the same great customer service. This time the issue was on a smaller scale and we decided to go with them and pay out of pocket. They do coordinate with outside contractors to do comprehensive repair but since we were paying out of pocket they gave us their contacts because if they coordinated for us, there'd be a surcharge. Since we were not going through insurance, they also only charged us for 3? days of drying and it definitely took way more than 3 days to dry. They also charged a little less when paying by check vs. credit card. We received the estimate the very next day and on the same day we agreed to hire them, they came out and started the drying process. Ken also gave us an estimate for mold (precaution if they found it behind the wall) so there were no surprise charges. In the end, we paid the amount we were quoted for. I liked that they wear Oregon Restoration labeled clothing and wore badges with their name and number of years in the field. They also immediately put on shoe coverings before entering the home. Little things like that gave me reassurance that they're professional and care about customer service. At the end of the service, they gave me a feedback form to fill out and return during their visit. While slightly uncomfortable giving candid feedback on the spot, I was happy to give them the positive ratings they deserved. Roger was the technician who came out everyday to check on progress. There was one day when someone else came to take down equipment but otherwise, it was Roger on the daily. Roger was great! He was super friendly, upbeat and we connected over anime. He helped connect us with a contractor who was able to come and seal the window (temporary fix until we can get a window replacement) and he helped connect us with their mold tester/certifier. He consistently called about 30 minutes before he arrived and would make sure we'd be home around a certain time the next day. I'd receive from the office, an emailed summary regarding what he did that day. The work area was kept very clean and before he left for good, he put extra tape on the plastic lining the walls (it's gonna be a while before we can patch up the drywall...). Oddly, by the end, I missed having him over! When contractors are overbooked and unavailable during the rainy/busy season, it was such a relief to have someone readily available and who does quality work. Much appreciated! read more

I had an absolutely nightmarish and abusive situation with this company. When I contacted them I had been feeling very sick with mold symptoms. They seemed knowledgeable about mold remediation and asked to come and inspect my apartment for mold. Ambriosio did a very quick inspection and said he found mold in my bathroom and under my washing machine. Grateful for answers, I moved out and got an Airbnb while they remediated my apartment. He called me a week later to tell me that the remediation was complete and when I asked him the details he realized they completely forgot to remediate the bathroom, even though that was on the list of jobs to do, so I had to get another airbnb while they did the whole process over again. I then moved back into my apartment and immediately felt a mold reaction walking in the door. I contacted them and told them to come back, that there was definitely still mold in my apartment and I was gaslit and told that there was no more mold, and I was probably just reacting to construction dust. Construction dust? That makes absolutely no sense, there is no construction dust anywhere in my apartment or around my apartment building. When I said this Ambrosio responded that there is a lot of construction dust in the air in Portland due to all of the new buildings. WTF? I demanded that they come back and do another inspection so the owner Ryan came over with Ambrosio. After calling me "sensitive", they did find areas that could contain mold. They told me that they would write up another estimate and get back to me, but never did. They did an incomplete job, did not take responsibility for the poor job they did, and were abusive to me in the process. While I cannot say that sexism played a part in this, I highly doubt that I would've been gaslight and called sensitive if I was a middle aged man with a family, versus a young woman. I ended up having to pay for an actual mold inspector who found TONS of more mold. It was so easy, all you had to do was open my living room closet and look up and you could see huge water stains in the ceiling, and there was more in other areas too. The mold levels in my apartment were still extremely high. And this was interesting because they had hired Karyn to create a false report saying that the mold levels in my apartment were low. I later heard from other mold inspectors that she is not trained or honest. When I confronted Oregon restoration with my report proving there was still mold I was told "well we are not mold inspectors". That would have been really nice to know at the beginning of all of this and it would've also been nice to get an apology for them gaslighting me. They are also hiring Karen to create reports in their favor! Also when they took the job they didn't tell me that they would be going through all of my personal belongings and packing up my ENTIRE apartment! They took everything out of all of my drawers and closets and I returned to my apartment to find everything in boxes and pushed into one corner. It took me almost a week to unpack and put my apartment back together. I had to get help to put my furniture back too. When I returned I also saw that they didn't properly cover my furniture with plastic. There were big holes ripped in the plastic and they only laid plastic on top of my mattress, instead if encasing it so it all got contaminated. To add to this they took down their containment, while leaving the mold in the floors exposed, so all of my furniture that wasn't covered were exposed to the mold they ripped up out of the flooring. Within two weeks of moving back in I became really sick again. Unfortunately due to their incompetent job and contaminating my furniture I had to throw out all of my belongings and leave my apartment. I lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff. Working with them was such a insanely stressful and traumatic experience I not only do not recommend them, but people need to be warned. read more

I contacted Oregon Restoration with a somewhat out-of-the-ordinary problem. We had 30 boxes of slate tile delivered for installation on a new outdoor patio slab - but the cardboard boxes had taken on water somewhere in their journey, and were now growing black mold, which had also crept into the tiles. I spoke to several remediation companies, but was immediately impressed by Oregon Restoration from the first phone call. Ambrosio put together a bid based on the information I gave him, and sent Jake to our job site the next business day. I spoke with Ryan because after our painters got done with our kitchen cabinets they were warped and not closing correctly. In theory they are going to be fixing them next week after a vacation but I am worried. So I called Ryan's business. Even though this is not something within the umbrella of what he does in his work, he took the time to explain it to me in detail while driving to a job. He said it's likely that one side dried faster than the other due to a direct heat source, thus over-drying the side that shrunk and "warping only occurs because of that." He said it could potentially be fixed by wetting the short side to expand it, may not work, may have to be replaced, It's a difficult thing with low success rate. But one can also aggressively dry the long side to shorten it. The fact that he took the time for me to understand all of this and write it down is testament enough to me that he's a great businessman and I should contact him if ever we have a flood or something more along his lines. read more

We had a leak in our roof from an ice dam from the recent snow storm that resulted in a very wet carpet in our spare bedroom, and wet ceiling in the garage below. We don't go in the room often so the leak had been there for a few days. We called Oregon Restoration because they were the first result on Yelp and had solid 5 stars. We are extremely glad we did! Ryan, the president of the company, came out within an hour or so of us calling on a Saturday afternoon and immediately got to work. He was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what the problem was even from our phone conversation, and was able to begin the mitigation process right away. He was up front with the process and what was and wasn't salvageable. Thankfully, the only things we had to throw out were the carpet padding and a couple strips of baseboard. Ryan was very flexible with him and his guys coming in to continue mitigation work through the weekend and the beginning of the week, even though they were swamped with other people having similar issues in town. His team (Nate and Brian) were very clean and orderly in opening up the walls that needed airing out, and were respectful of our home in doing so. They worked with our homeowner's insurance which was a relief to not have to worry about out-of-pocket charges. This is the kind of business whose service you hope you never need to use, but having needed them we are so thankful for their thorough and efficient work. If we ever run across a problem like this again, we will 1000% use them again. We discovered water damage in 3 different locations in our residence. We called Oregon Restoration to take a look and provide an estimate. Jake was there within a day and we had a proposal in the next morning. We signed on and Jake (Project Manager) and Gunnar were on site with a couple of days. Jake recommended a roofing company to inspect and repair the source of the leak, and that work was done quickly and well. Jake a Gunnar had the demo done with a day or 2 and set up the drying and mold mitigation. These things take time, but we had a call daily confirming arrival time and they were always prompt. Communication was good on the work itself and the team was always clean, efficient and timely. Oregon Restoration did a great job! read more

Calling after hours, Ryan was the first responder to our water issue. He brought out a dehydrator/dryer to get the drying process started. The next day, one of his teams, Seth and Colton came to the house to move cabinets, tape off where mold had started and began the demolition of the floor. Our damage was great enough that it had to be taken to the sub floor. Our drying process included getting the floors dry first, then the drywall was removed, the cabinets were removed and all areas were dried completely. During the process Seth and Colton put up large plastic tarp like enclosures on the entrances to the kitchen so dust and particles didn't fill the rest of the house. Knowing we will need to remodel, Seth left the enclosures (to pick up at a later date), to minimize the dust and made a zippered entrance so we could go back and forth as needed. Ryan and Colton were fantastic with the water restoration/damage work. They were extremely patient with all my questions (I asked a LOT of them), they put my mind at ease and because the drying process took several days, Seth kept in constant communication with me and came to the house multiple times to check on the kitchen. In a time of trying circumstances (your home is damaged), these guy show up and are respectful, professional, personable and make the situation much easier to deal with. I can't say enough great things about the communication I had with Ryan via phone calls and emails, with Seth and Colton in their checking in and constant monitoring of the drying process and the overall experience. Project Manager, Dave Nevill showed up on time, came in with a very competitive and comprehensive bid, then did all the mold remediation required thoroughly and with attention to detail. Ryan did a great job getting my carpets cleaned. I was just moving into a home that previously had four kids, a few pets, and a very small amount of space. The carpets were in pretty bad shape. He was able to get most of the stains out and what remains is very hard to detect unless you're right upon it (I was told they were grease stains and thus very difficult to remove). The carpets were very dry to the touch afterward. I still kept off the carpets overnight, but probably wouldn't have had any problems if I needed to walk over them after a few hours Oregon Restoration quoted about $75-$100 more than other competitors, but I went with them because I had used them previously and had friends that had used them. I am curious though why the cost was so much more, although I've never used the cheaper ones, so cannot attest to the difference in quality. The website definitely needs updating. It list services that are no longer offered such as tile cleaning or home cleaning. I was disappointed that those services were not offered because I originally contacted Oregon Restoration hoping to get someone that could handle more than one service need. Overall, it was a great job done. I am happy with the carpets, but would consider using them more, or more often if the price was lower, and/or if they had the other services available that was listed on the website. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Oregon Restoration while purchasing my new home. While working in the crawl space, a rather extensive amount of mold was found and I honestly had a few days of panic. However I called Oregon Restoration and Ryan and his crew were so reassuring, they were quick to come over and assess the situation. The clean up job they did was phenomenal! You cannot tell there was ever any mold at all. All staining is gone. When I had the air quality tested after the treatment (since I have a baby) the samples inside the house were lower than the ambient outside readings. I cannot say enough good things about this company. They were always willing to discuss the job with me and to answer any questions that I had. They were patient, reassuring and their work was excellent! I will be recommending them every chance I get. read more

They were very, very professional, organized, clean, safe and thorough! I can't think of anyone doing better!!

Said 4-6 weeks and turned into 3 month job that maxed out our insurance, pocketbook, and patience. One year later we are still finding problems. Remodeling work not holding up and have to redo some. Had to have air ducts cleaned again because they did not clean attic line. Turns out our coughs and runny eyes that would not go away were due to lingering drywall dust in ducts.
