The WORST EVER!! I waited 2 hrs. for a tow, and the driver made a 5 SECOND attempt to locate me. I called them immediately, to try to get the truck back, the receptionist (sounds like a 15 yrs. old, told me that my insurance had canceled the tow. I spoke with my insurance & they told me that in fact Performance had canceled the tow!!! LAIRS, LAIRS !!!!!! I had to call another tow company, another 1.5 hours wait. Less than a hour later I was driving away with a passed smog for $48 including certificate, without an appointment. I'm definitely going back to this shop in the future. Stopped by today for a smog check and had seen an ad online and they advertise no appointments needed so I decided to give them a try. I am glad I did too. I was greeted upon walking in the door cheerfully, and they were able to take me in right away as no one else was being helped at the moment. Mentioned the promo price and it was honored without question too. Smog test took less than 10 minutes total and I was back on my way and I must say that this was by far the easiest experience I've had yet doing business with a smog check place and I know I'll be returning in two years. read more

When we arrived the following day to asses the car damage and figure out what to do, Danny was there to help us out. The car was totalled, a Blue PT Cruiser. Danny was compassionte, selfless and a just an all around really good man. He showed concern for my sister (who was injured) explained all of her options and in the end he gave her an unexpected deal that blew us both away. This company has my up most respect. This place was the lowest in town ($40. which included the certificate - everyone else charges an additional $8.25 for the cert). No reservation was required. He had to take my wheel off to get my car on his truck and was manually moving the tires around to make sure it got on straight. He was extremely patient, which was amazing, as I was frustrated. This place was defaulted to tow my brz from a heavy rain car accident. I asked them to remove my supercharger from my car (after accident/for next car) which they did for several hundred and only got half the parts w/ leaking oils in a cardboard box.. Now a year later, they procede to take 'legal actions' to get 2k from me claiming my car wasnt picked up from my insurance agency when in fact their is plenty of proof otherwise.. SOOOO I have been waiting outside in the hot ass sun! Mind you I'm still waiting at this moment. @ 10:25 pm. I've had a flat tire since 4pm! And spoke with my insurance and they told me at about 8:30pm that a tow was on the way and it would be about 60mins. Mind you that was some more BS after I had already been waiting for 4 hours. So about 30 minutes go by and Performance tow gives me a call and a women asked me if I needed a tow?! Like really ur really asking if I need a tow?! So they tell us that they don't want to and hang up. We call again and speak with the manager this time. He tells me he doesn't want to give me a tow because he doesn't want to deal with it. Very, very impressed. I started googling SMOG locations in the area and read so many positive/negative reviews on so many different places my head was spinning. Finally decided on Performance since their ratings was pretty good and they were near some other shopping that I had to do. As soon as I walked through the door I was immediately and cheerfully greeted like I was a life long customer. They told me it could take 25 minutes but I don't think I was there more than 10-15 minutes before my car was finished and I was out of there. Probably the fastest Smog I can remember in recent years. Also, I do all my own service on my vehicles: oil changes, brake/rotor jobs, filters, fluids, etc. I'm due up for a transmission flush so I chatted a little with Danny about having them do that. He was totally upfront and honest about the time frame to do it, potential issues, cost etc. He didn't try an BS me at all. I think I may have found my mechanic here in Santa Rosa. For years I've had issues with my Honda civic si. Most auto shops told me it would be $100-$250 just to look at what the issue were, not counting fixing it. When I came to Performance Auto they were able to not only diagnose the problem they fixed it at a very reasonable price and its been fixed since. Their towing is second to none, my car is lower than normal and they had no problems when other tow trucks actually left me where I, stranded. They are always up front with any issues that they see as far as any parts that may need to get replaced soon. Great place I feel very confident every time I come there. The starter on my car went out and I called around to get estimates. Danny was the most helpful of the people I called and he gave me the lowest price quote. I took the car in, and they fixed it for me exactly as quoted. They shuttled me back to my place while they fixed the car and then picked me up in my car so he could drive it and test everything out. Sometimes it's awkward talking to a mechanic because you get the sense they aren't being completely honest. Didn't have that sense here. These guys are diamond certified and I can see why. I got hosed in a bad way. I had a difficult situation and the driver (Wayne, I think) didn't seem completely competent. Anyway, to make a long story short, he had to winch the vehicle (which was an extra charge he didn't tell me about until after he finished). He towed the car to a garage only 2 blocks away and charged me $85 for the tow and $100 for the winch...saying "let's see, I winched it for about an hour and winching is $100 an hour." Well, he was only there for an hour and the bulk of the time was getting the car out of the carport. He only used the winch for about 20 minutes total. So, I got charged $185 to move a car 2 blocks. Please do yourself a favor and DON'T use this company. Get a membership and use AAA for their towing services. read more
