Richard saved the day! We needed to move a 40-foot destination travel trailer down a steep hill, at an angle. I highly recommend Richard's Universal Towing!! I had a Backhoe that needed to be taken to the dealer in Santa Rosa. It was not running so I could not drive it onto a trailer, I needed a vehicle with a wench that could pull a 7,280 lb tractor onto that vehicle. I called him on a Wednesday afternoon and asked about the next day. He said yes and his price was very fair under the circumstances. We made an appointment for a 9 AM pickup and the driver showed up about 10 minutes early with the exact vehicle needed for the job. The truck was clean, the driver was excellent and he used great care loading my tractor onto his vehicle. The whole process took just a couple of minutes. They delivered my tractor to the dealer in a very efficient and careful manner. I was so impressed by the service Richard provided. Prior to coming out, he called to verify the address that I had given the insurance company. He also verified the amount that the insurance would cover for his services. I have used other towing companies and never received this courtesy call. Once he arrived at my vehicle, I explained what was going on. He took a look at my engine, shared the options and was able to determine why my car was not starting. He tested the battery and even explained how the battery, starter and alternator worked. He spent a lot of time helping me with the car. Locked my keys in my Jeep and called Jeep Roadside Assistance. After waiting for over two hours, they finally called Richard's Universal Towing and provided me Richard's phone number. Upon calling Richard, Jeep did not provide the correct payment information to him. Despite this, Richard still immediately came out to my vehicle to help me. -He was in the middle of taking his family to dinner and driving his Dad back to San Francisco. Do you know how you'll respond in a crisis? The kind where you are coming home from a 4 hour drive camping trip, and you just end the 1st 2 hour stretch that involved coming off of the very curvy highway 1, followed up by 128, then you get on the 101 and your truck starts to breakdown WHILE towing your 34 foot trailer-kind of crisis? WELL that was us last week. In come our review of Richard's Towing: We were stranded in Healdsburg (thankfully we were able to get off the freeway), and we had to call 2 insurance companies to get our truck AND trailer towed (they are under diff ins co's). Each is going to take about 90 minutes ETA - which was expected for a Sunday AND considering all of the sadness happening in Texas/mid-west. Richard (the owner) showed up for our trailer (he arrived the quickest), and he jumps out of his truck and talks to my husband. Now mind you I had already been in a panic searching for either a rental car/Uber to get home to Vacaville, and had no luck at that point because we also had our little dog with us (2 kids also). But the dog was the wild card since Ubers don't allow them and a rental car last minute was not looking promising, so needless to say I was stressed. Richard says 'who is towing your truck?' My husband says 'we are waiting on that tow truck, 2 different ins companies' and Richard said 'well I am sad I didn't know, I have a truck big enough to tow your truck on the bed AND your trailer.' How nice right? He knew we were so tired (we had already been dealing with this situation for almost 3 hours). Anyway, he was making plans to hook up the trailer and he confirmed the address in Vacaville where it was headed. He looks over at us and said to my husband 'how are you getting home?' My husband said 'we are trying to figure that out now.' Richard simply replied 'get your family and you all get in the truck, I will take you all home.' We explained we had our small dog too, and he said it was not a problem at all and that he didn't want us sitting there waiting to figure that out with our kids. I was elated to say the least! We all wore our masks and he drove our trailer and family all the way home to Vacaville - no extra charges at all. Richard showed, not only professionalism in his field, but he also showed immense kindness to a family who was completely worn out, and even in the middle of a pandemic, he was able to extend peace of mind. We will always be thankful for Richard, and his wife (yes this wonderful woman was with him), and if we have future needs for towing we will absolutely reach out to him again! read more

I needed my motorcycle towed on short notice on a Saturday and the service was outstanding. From the time I called until Steve showed up with a motorcycle trailer was probably less than 20 minutes. Even though the tow was less than a mile I felt their charge was more than fair for the quality of service and the care taken with my motorcycle. I managed to get a large truck stuck(18,000lbs), after many days of rain, deep, frame deep in mud. Richard came out to help pull my truck free. He was unable to accomplish it from the front. He didn't give up, he attached the problem from the back and used several tricks to pull it out. After several attempts he was able to free the vehicle. It was pouring rain and he was polite and professional the entire time. He never gave up. I couldn't recommend him any more than I am. I broke down in Suisun City on a Sunday. I only had 20 miles of coverage thru insurance so I was responsible for the remaining balance. I'm on Social Security Disability and just don't have any extra. Richard himself decided to take a chance and come get me, all I could give him was $180 cash. I got down there and then he told me I can't take it down now it's already up,you have to pay for me to take it down. I asked him the price. I told him ok. He asked if it was registered to me I said no. He then said "I can't take it down,they have to come themself and get it".All this run around and said they were closed today to come tomorrow . I live in Mountain View and was travelling through Santa Rosa on 101 when my truck broke down on the freeway. My insruance company sent Richard's Universal to help. The truck operator (Ron) arrived promptly, in fact earlier than he estimated. It was early evening on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend and I was heading about a hundred miles north of Santa Rosa for a 3-day camping trip with friends and family. Hoping to salvage the trip, I had told my insurance company I wantd to be towed to Pep Boys so I could hopefully fix my truck and get back on the road. When Ron got there I changed my mind and wanted to be towed to U-Haul so I could rent a truck and contumue on, since I was pretty sure I'd not be able to fix the truck myself. Ron was friendly, personable, and empathised with the sitatuon I was in. He took me where I wanted to go. When it turned out that U-Haul had no trucks, he contiuned to help me and took me to another place. Ultimately, I wound up having to leave my truck in Ultimate Towing's yard overnight. Once my truck was safely at their secure yard, Ron then drove me to my hotel because I had some sensitive items that I couldn't just carry around town. The next morning, Ron was just as helpful and friendly as he was the day before, and towed me to a local shop where my truck is being fixed as I type this. These guys are amazing. Frank handled a super difficult job way out in the country for me last week. At all times he was friendly, very professional, and kept a calm demeanor even though the vehicle was almost impossible to move because it was so low, and in a very awkward position. The ground was soaked and it was drizzling! He safely drove it from Healdsburg all the way to the dealership in Santa Rosa and after nearly three hours, he was still kind and courteous. I live in WA and was in Santa Rosa on vacation. We parked in a closed business parking lot and went across the street to dinner. We came back 45 minutes later and found our car was towed by Richards Universal Towing, through surveillance. Is this even legal?? A person from across the street said Richards Universal Towing company does this all the time and makes a ton of money, they charged us $400.00 to get our car back. Did I mention the business was closed where we parked. Watching parking lots through surveillance is a really slimy way to do business. read more
