I went to the Beginner lesson with my husband and brother. None of us had prior archery experience so we weren't quite sure what to expect. The lesson was extremely fun! Craig, the instructor, was very thorough in explaining everything regarding the bow, shooting, and safety. It was a very comfortable environment. It is $25/person through their website for the lesson and I believe it was well worth it for the hour long activity. Better yet, once you take the lesson, it's only $10 to rent the equipment and $10/hour for the lane rental. Great value for a fun activity! I came in one day just wanting to give my wife something new to try and we got hooked up and now we we daily and the crew are responsible and always happy to help or answer any questions. I'm a new archer. Just completed a 6 week class at Morley with a great group of folks. Came here to buy my first set of arrows. Completely negative experience. I feel like newbie's aren't welcome. Many other men with bows and gear were being helped immediately. It's a busy day but I've worked and managed retail for many years. Every customer should be acknowledged and welcomed. I was mostly ignored and then couldn't get much when I finally got someone. Sorry if I'm not spending hundreds of dollars today but I was looking at a $75 pack of arrows. Thought that was worth a few questions. I also planned on getting a few other accessories and a bag for my bow. Never even got that far. Was told, "well, if you're not serious..." because I hadn't brought my bow that day to measure for arrows. I called ahead and was told it wasn't required. It was raining and didn't want to take my brand new bow out in the rain. What do I have to do to qualify as serious?? I'm just a new archer looking for help to spend money in your store. I left after not being able to get help a second time to complete a purchase. I recommend Lakeside. Much more helpful. read more

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I surprised my husband for valentines day and brought him in to get a new bow. We were helped as soon as we walked through the door. He's a beginner with bows and they took the time to talk with him and figure out which one would be best for him. They brought him a few bows to try and encouraged him to shoot as many times as he wanted to see which one was the best fit for him. Best bow shop in Southern California. Bob and his guys know their stuff. They advised me on product selection, gave me pointers and tuned my bow and my son's. We started with a group lesson for my birthday. Craig taught a fun and informative class with recurve bows and that had me hooked. I've been shooting a compound bow several times a week ever since. Absolute class. Taylor was the most helpful rep I've probably had in any store in my life. Spent close to an hour with me walking me through different bows and accessories. He let me shoot a few different bows and helped me get a grasp of what to feel and look for (I'm a beginner). He has a lot of enthusiasm for the sport and it definitely wears off on you. I ended up purchasing a bow that day (pse evolve 35) andhe had it all settled in within hours, I picked it up the next day and we spent more time getting everything adjusted and dialed in. I came to get a cheap bow and probably would have used a few times and never touched it again, what I actually got was an experience, an appreciation for the sport, an excellent bow with great accessories, and am looking forward to pursuing archery for many many years. I stopped by last week to get some information for my son and I. Ive had a bow for a few years that was given too me by a buddy. I talked to Alex and he was able to inspect the bow for me since it had been sitting awhile. I scheduled an appt later that week to bring my son in for private lesson for his introduction. His instructor was Giovana (i believe that was her name). The lesson was very thorough and he was able pick things up very quickly with her instruction. During the lesson Alex was able to get me fitted to my bow, set up with arrows, and a release. My son couldn't stop talking about it for the next few days, so we ended up going back and purchasing him his first compound bow. Alex got him set up with all the necessary equipment and had him on the range getting dialed in. Very pleased with the knowledgable staff and their high level of customer service. read more

This is an awesome shop. I took an old bow in to have it tuned and setup. The sales staff was honest and straight forward with me. After discussing why the old bow would most likely not work for me they helped me pick out a package that was reasonably priced and had all that I would need for my level of experience. I've been up and down California archery shops and this is one of my favorites. In Southern California most shops tend to be PSE shops and I've found their work on hoyt bows to be mediocre. I had a couple guys tell me they only bring their hoyts to this shop and I can see why now. I was getting ready for the total archery challenge and just had my strings replaced by another shop and knew things weren't right. I was set up with Tanner, their main bow tech to do an overhaul of my bow to check timing and alignment of everything. He spent a solid two hours resetting my peep sight, rest, and sight. I appreciated it so much I brought my wife in their as well for them to look at everything and our bows shoot much better now. They have one of the largest retail shops I've seen in California and one of the few places you can find Sitka, crispi, and mystery ranch on the rack to actually check out for yourself. The only downside to this shop is that it's in San Diego and I'm in LA. But I'm willing to make the drive. read more

We took the beginner's class with Craig for my cousin's bachelorette party. It was fantastic and so much fun. Craig did such a great job of teaching the basics while making sure that everyone enjoyed themselves and stayed relaxed and safe. They even pulled out a goblin and zombie for target practice! I cannot give enough stars for this place and it's staff... specifically Craig. We recently had our 10 year old's birthday party here but my son neglected to tell me that one of his friend had a disability where it was difficult for him to use his arms/hands. After shooting a few rounds, his friend was not able to draw the bow back BUT Craig was determined to make sure he was able to shoot a few arrows and he succeeded. Unfortunately the last 2 times I have been here I have been disappointed with the staff. My first visit I dropped $2000.00 and was treated very nicely, but every experience after that, 2 stars... Decided to get my 14/16 yr olds archery lessons and this place was the highest rated though furthest from our home in Oceanside. They didn't disappoint. From the call to the lesson, friendly and clear customer service. We paid $25 ea for the 1hr lesson and our boys loved it. I was surprised how fast they were able to start shooting, a quick 5-10 safety and rules discussion and my boys were firing at targets with confidence. Excellent lesson and incredible value. Now my boys can use the range and their equipment for $20 whenever we go back to precatice more. Great experience so we will absolutely be back! read more
