Stepping in here for the first time, I was only here to get archery lessons via their recurve…read moreclass. I was NOT expecting to pick up my first bow on that same day: a 20 lb takedown recurve. I've been shooting that poundage for roughly a couple months maybe before I quickly got used to it (and bored of the poundage I was drawing), so I picked up a couple of 35 lb bows, both of which were a proper recurve, and a longbow. So went nearly six months. Not just a couple weeks ago, I picked up my first pair of 45 lb limbs for the same takedown recurve bow, after trying out a 40 lb, 45 lb and a 50 lb recurve of the same make. Countless arrows lost, a few tips gone or so, and every single time I came back, I didn't have a bad experience. Getting guidance from people like Sam (I think that's his name?), and a few others, with their varying personalities, one of which seemed non-verbally intense, but I think he won't bite anyone, I have to be very impressed with the service I get here. Though, sometimes when I show up here, I get the impression that either there's not enough employees there, or it just seems dead, so getting something done there can take more time than expected. Every time I came here to get a new bow, or even replacement shafts and tips, I always never felt pressured to buy something. I felt like I was in my own natural habitat. And using their indoor range at if I remember correctly $12/hr (or perhaps it's slightly less) is actually a pretty sweet deal, at least in my opinion. Though, the one thing I have to gripe about, are whenever I go to their indoor range on a particularly warm and humid or hot day, someone always leaves the back door of the indoor range wide open, while running the A/C, which makes indoor shooting not only uncomfortable but also frivolous. I don't wanna even start talking about how expensive running the A/C during those times really is. Overall, even though they are one of the very few archery stores available here in the county, I can vouch this place as a great place to go to get started with archery.

We found Performance Archery and their 1-hour intro lesson for $40 per person. Pretty fair deal. Me, my wife, and both our boys all tried compound bows. It was a tiring but fun afternoon. The next day, me and my wife definitely felt some muscles we do not use often. LOL. Our instructor, Todd, was very helpful and encouraging. He explained what we, as complete newbies, needed to know without making it confusing. Safety, stance, how to hold the bow, how to aim, and how to release. Just enough to get us started and actually enjoy it. He also gave a lot of praise to my youngest son, who showed some real potential. It was his first time ever shooting a bow, and he hit yellow at 10 yards. Beginner's luck? Maybe once. But he kept hitting yellow again and again. Because of that, I asked my youngest, who is 15, if he wanted to continue with archery and see where it goes. He said yes, so we ended up getting him a package that should last him a few years: an Elite Archery Basin RTS, a release, arrows, and a bag. He was super happy. The staff was also very helpful in setting up the bow for him. They adjusted the draw length, draw weight, and peep sight, and made sure it fit him properly. The only sad part is that this place is far from home. I checked Yelp reviews for places closer to us, and honestly, they do not look as encouraging. Overall, this was a really good afternoon. For $40 per person, the intro lesson was worth it. Fun, educational, beginner-friendly, and maybe even the start of a new hobby for my son.

Make sure if you use the locker rooms to bring your own lock. Speaking of the locker rooms, they do have showers ana sauna. You can pay for a towel if you don't bring your own. They have work out areas to get your warm ups in (sorry didn't get a chance to photograph the weights area). They have a decent size wall area with both top rope and lead climbs. Upstairs has the plenty of bouldering. They even have a great little nook where you can sit and read or play a game of chess.

Check in was easy and you do need to fill out a waiver, which is customary for most gyms now. Staff very friendly and helpful and gave me a nice tour of the facility. The entire second floor is dedicated for bouldering, which is pretty cool! Lockers were nice and sauna also available too! There were a lot of people on xmas eve but everyone was respectful and bouldering was easy here. My only gripe was the parking issue for this facility. You do get 2 free hours in a garage closeby however I couldn't figure out how to get a ticket printed to validate it. When you enter the lot, they ask you to swipe your credit card and I didnt see option to get a physical ticket. I asked two staff members but nobody seemed to know what to do. I think if this becomes a regular place I visit, parking will need to be sorted. Overall, a great facility and Id definitely come back when I want to climb!

My husband won a class via silent auction and we planned a mini vacation in Escondido so I could fly here for my birthday. It was perfect! They have 2 rigs and an adorable property-plenty of space for my husband to safely let my 2 year old run around while I flew. The staff were all happy and fun and encouraging. They helped improve my swing and taught me two new tricks! The class had a range of experience levels and they made sure each had individualized instruction at their level. I will be back to use the 2 more classes I purchased while there!

They know that 99.9% of people have never "flown" before and they are the masters at teaching first timers how to fly! IS IT SAFE?? From the ground till you land safely back on the super soft net, you're clipped in and safe. IS THE NET LANDING HARD? Not at all. It's unbelievable soft. You can literally land in any position (arms outstretched, neck first, etc) and the net is designed to make all landings soft and injury free. Getting off the net is the hard part haha because it's so soft! :) GOOD FOR DATES? Yes and yes! Whether it's your first date or you just want to try something new, flying trapeze is exciting and will have you cheering for each-other before you know it! GOOD FOR GROUPS? Oh yes! On a Sunday afternoon, this place was pretty empty which is my favorite. A lot of teenagers in here doing top rope mainly, which made for even less people bouldering. The bouldering here doesn't share space with climbers so that I liked a lot. The back area all dedicated for bouldering. Some very good climbs here and they have the same concept of climb over walls and one slab wall. I enjoyed all of it. This is a bare bones facility and the locker room pretty tiny but it has everything you need. There is a weight/exercise area right next to the bouldering walls, no treadmills here. Staff very nice and lots of parking available. It seemed they had the air con on but it was still so hot in the gym. I turned on a big fan they had, that helped a lot! I'd definitely come back to this gym again. I like the not having to share bouldering with others because I can really focus and practice as much as I like.

It's a clean and new facility that features a Kilter board (which can be set to any angle), a Tension board at 40 degrees, and two spray walls (one at 40 degrees and another at 20/30 degrees). There's also a small free weight gym, various hardboard options, and a few loading pins (just remember to bring your own grip strength). For the hang board area, I did struggle reaching and switching out the boards, so adding a stepping stool in the hang board area would make it more accessible for shorter climbers. They also have a small section of set routes graded A, B, and C (with A being the easiest) that incorporate a variety of V grades to encourage trying all the climbs. I visited during the grand opening, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I appreciated the training-focused environment, and they offer classes and personal training as well. There are monthly memberships available, complete with a free monthly guest pass, along with day pass options. Overall, this place really motivated me to train hard and get stronger for outdoor climbing. I love the variety of training options available to help climbers improve!
