For as long as I've gazed this stretch of Little India (#1), I've seen Perfection Bridal as one of the first stores in view. Located just steps from the east entrance to the 74th St station, this boutique biz has been a part of the neighborhood for a very long time. I'm fully aware I'm not the part of their target audience, have worn anything here (#2), so it's worth taking this review with a grain of salt. Despite my lack of traditional Indian attire experience, I've come here with friends and family to shop for sarees. (#3) Whether it was for tourist shopping in Jackson Heights or because they were hoping to rock a saree for an upcoming Indian wedding, I've seen a fair share of different outfits here and some of the stuff they have is pretty impressive. It's not all sarees of course, there's a whole spectrum of things they specialize in -- shalwar, kameez, lehnga choly, punjabi suits, silk suits, and children's formal wear. If they don't have items in house, they'll have it specially ordered from the motherland or import fabric for a custom job. Customer service could always been a bit warmer, but I say this because I think there could be a better hand holding experience for first timers out there. The staff seems to be able to speak a number of languages / dialects, which include urdu, Hindi, Tamil, and Punjabi. I was told by others the prices here can be a bit on the expensive side, but I also don't have a ton of experiences shopping in other similar stores. __________ (#1) Nowadays, more like little Bangladesh. We walked into this store as a last ditch effort to find some kind of wedding clothing for myself after hours of shopping around Little India in Jackson Heights. Upon walking in, I remember seeing a bunch of old women sweaters, which isn't really what I was looking for (I was in the market for my wedding dress). They have some of their mens collection on the walls. They're true bridal clothes are in the back of the store, which is where we spent the majority of our time. They have a huge collection of bridal clothes and had quite a few for the exact color that I was looking for. The woman working the store, happened to be Afghani and didn't understand Hindi (spoke perfect English though, which was great for me!) and was a true sweetheart the entire time I was there. She was really helpful picking out different clothes and quickly picking up styles that I liked/disliked. She was also nice when trying clothes on, showing me different ways that I could wear the clothes. Overall, a really nice woman....which made me feel bad when we didn't buy anything from them. Their clothes were really nice, but they were a little pricey and they didn't have exactly what I wanted. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely go back there for any occasion that I was looking for an outfit for. read more

I walked into this store and saw exactly what I wanted to buy for my sister-in-laws wedding party. My sister gave me her size and I went with that. It did not fit so I brought it back to the store to find out they didn't have the same dress in her size. I could not find a more suitable dress for her at this store. Hari, the owner wanted to help and offered to have another one tailored for us and that he would even add a lining to the sleeve as I had wanted at no extra cost. I could not believe it. I was terrified since that suit had to be in my hands by the end of week and I highly doubted that a delivery of this magnitude would occur within so little time (10 days) from India. On the 10th day a Friday, Hari said there was a delay at the airport and that the suit would not arrive until 8 pm and can I pick it up then. With lots of things to do still, I did not want to take a chance so I purchased another suit as a back up. This was getting pricey now. I was out $350 on suit #1 and $250 on the other. Well, the suit arrived as Hari had promised. I was able to pick it up at one of his other stores in Queens and he went as far as meeting me there to ensure that I had received the correct suit. It was an adventure and I would do it again in a minute just to see and hear all the compliments given to my sister-in-law as one of the most talked about suits of the night. Hari, I will definitely buy more suits from your shop, even your more expensive one's. You give great prices and your merchandise did not dissappoint. As for the back up suit. Worst customer service ever! Do not shop here. They guaranteed a custom gown a week ago however when I called to pick it up it was not ready. They made excuses after excuses. They took the measurements to get the outfit tailored and were confident that it be done in a week's time. By the time I went to the store, another excuse. The sales woman stalled and said the outfit was still not ready. After I demanded to speak with the manager who was not present, she tried to say it will maybe be ready on Saturday. No guarantees. I demanded my money back. Not once did she apologize but she tried to show me different clothes. Horrible experience. Why try to guarantee a service if it wasn't ready? If there was no zeroes on yelp I would gladly give that. Zero service, zero class. read more

I ordered my wedding reception dress from here. I requested additional length to the dress to accommodate the fact that I did not want my stomach to show. 3 weeks later, the dress arrived with no additional length. I had 1 month and 2 weeks to order, receive, and alter the corrected version I was promised. I was not concerned since the original order only took 3 weeks. 2 weeks later, I stopped by to see if my dress was in. It was not. I was assured it would arrive within a week. A week later the dress was still not there. I was assured it would be in a week later. A week later, the dress still and not arrived - leaving only 3 weeks to receive & alter my dress - if it arrived with the correct measurements. At this point, I was livid. I was told the order was backed up because the person making it was very busy. I get it, but when this is your business it isn't an excuse. What if the order came in wrong? What if it didn't come in at all? There were too many unknowns and literally nothing I could do if anything went wrong. So I waited. Thankfully, the dress arrived the next week as promised. It fit the way I wanted it to and I was incredibly relieved. I was told the owner had to pay extra money to have it delivered quickly - I don't know if that was to make me feel better or to make me feel guilty, but it annoyed me. They had plenty of time to have it shipped regularly, had they finished everything within an appropriate amount of time and gotten the order right the first time. Still, it was too close for comfort. I will not stop shopping there. The prices are too good and the staff is very friendly. I will just have to give them plenty of time to complete an order, which will mean they will miss out on business if I am invited to a last-minute event. As stated earlier, the friendliness of the staff and the prices make the purchase worth the experience, but my final gripe is alterations. Many other shops offer free alterations with the purchase of a suit. Many other shops would have offered a client that had such a bad experience free alterations as a way to apologize for their mistake. This shop made me pay $25 for alterations after spending $400 on a dress and having multiple issues with the shipment. read more

Don't ever get your blouses stitched here. Gave her a blouse piece 6 weeks ahead of time to give her ample time to make it and when I went to pick it up, she was working on it and it wasn't even half done. Awful service. And to top it off, she had the nerve to complain to someone else that was there about "the customer showing up early" and she is "so stressed." Terrible attitude. Just got home from perfection and I am a super satisfied customer. After 2 almost comedic experiences at neighboring stores I finally walked into the right one. First we went to a place with rude management and walked out and then a shady competitor tried to get me to pay $1300(!) for the sherwani alone. With one foot out the door they called us back in to drop the price to 800, shoes included, and subsequently 700 again almost instantly. Shady to say the least. Then we walk into perfection and we're done in 20 minutes! Extremely helpful and responsive staff. Higher quality sherwani in multiple sites, matching shoes and the first words out of the owners mouth was $400! That's how you build a reputation. read more

Rani has an independent shop downstairs, and is not an employee of the store. It's true that she often doesn't finish pieces on time. However, she does excellent work at a reasonable price. There is also an independent fabric store downstairs, which makes it easy to pick up a lining and fall for a few dollars. I recently moved away, and Rani had to mail me my last order because she didn't finish it. However, the next blouse I ordered in Berkeley cost twice as much, didn't fit, and wasn't fixed after I left it twice. I eventually took it somewhere else to fix it, and when I went to finally wear the sari, the fall was on the wrong side! I had to wrap it left to right! I wish I had just mailed the fabric to Rani and waited for her to finally finish! read more

UGH. perfection, it is not. We ordered my husband's custom sherwani FIVE months before our wedding. When it came in January, they sent the wrong size. Then they had us with bated breath until 4 days before the wedding. My mother-in-law, my husband, and I were going EVERY day for the two weeks leading up to the wedding to get our item. When our sherwani finally arrived, the owner had the nerve to ask for more money because "it inconvenienced him to re-order it". RIDICULOUS. Oh btw, we had to buy the pants from another shop. I'd give zero stars if yelp allowed it. read more
