A lot of the sales people I encountered were pushy, and downright rude. Because of my past experience, I was dreading looking for a salwar kameez but the ladies that assisted me were very kind. I explained that I'd be attending my first Bengali wedding with my new husband who was accompanying me, and wasn't sure what I was looking for. They made suggestions and suggested I try on some things to get a feel for what I liked. While you really can't expect to be modest at any sari shops, these ladies did give me a little bit more privacy than what I've experienced before and it was appreciated. I tried on 4 different styles and modeled them for my husband before narrowing down what we wanted. Keep in mind that these clothes are NOT cheap. If you have some haggling skills, you can bargain your way down $100 - $200, which we did. That being said, we did end up paying $400 and while that included tailoring, it is still a hefty price tag. As in all shops, they will try to get you to buy more than you intend to and are a bit pushy, but not overwhelmingly so. All in all, I walked out with an awesome outfit that fit like a glove and would recommend this shop to anyone who needs their clothing fast. Otherwise, buy online and have it altered here to your preference and save a bundle!

They…read moreare completely dishonest and took advantage of my family by selling us a reception dress for $700 that arrived damaged, ripped, and clearly used. When we opened the package, we were horrified to find multiple severe defects that no brand-new luxury dress should ever have:Massive holes and rips directly through the heavily beaded outer mesh overlay.Frayed, splitting seams on the interior lining where the fabric is completely pulling apart.Terrible construction quality with loose threads and unraveling beadwork.Paying $700 for a dress means expecting pristine quality for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Instead, Karishma sold us a heavily damaged item that looks like a worn floor sample or a cheap return. Selling a dress in this unwearable condition is completely unacceptable and fraudulent. We are currently demanding a full refund. Save your money, your time, and your sanity--stay far away from this boutique!

When I couldn't find my size, an employee went to the back to find it for me. And he did in fact have my size! Kudos! I then went to the dressing room to find that all the doors were locked. As I looked around confused, another employee walked up to me and told me they were all locked because it was 7 PM and the store was closing. I said, "Can't I just try them on? You're going to lose a sale." His response was, "It doesn't matter. Everyone has to go to the front to make their final purchase." WHAT?! It would have taken me 2 minutes! I curtly walked away and handed the jeans back to the nice employee who helped me, telling him I was refused access to try on ONE pair of pants. To his credit he called out for me as I left the store in a huff, but to no avail. I kept walking...I was in no mood to give them my money.

Located just steps from the east entrance to the 74th St station, this boutique biz has been a part of the neighborhood for a very long time. I'm fully aware I'm not the part of their target audience, have worn anything here (#2), so it's worth taking this review with a grain of salt. Despite my lack of traditional Indian attire experience, I've come here with friends and family to shop for sarees. (#3) Whether it was for tourist shopping in Jackson Heights or because they were hoping to rock a saree for an upcoming Indian wedding, I've seen a fair share of different outfits here and some of the stuff they have is pretty impressive. It's not all sarees of course, there's a whole spectrum of things they specialize in -- shalwar, kameez, lehnga choly, punjabi suits, silk suits, and children's formal wear. If they don't have items in house, they'll have it specially ordered from the motherland or import fabric for a custom job. Customer service could always been a bit warmer, but I say this because I think there could be a better hand holding experience for first timers out there. The staff seems to be able to speak a number of languages / dialects, which include urdu, Hindi, Tamil, and Punjabi. I was told by others the prices here can be a bit on the expensive side, but I also don't have a ton of experiences shopping in other similar stores. __________ (#1) Nowadays, more like little Bangladesh. (#2) But I've paid. That makes me a customer. (#3) Or sari. Whatever floats your boat.

Upon walking in, I remember seeing a bunch of old women sweaters, which isn't really what I was looking for (I was in the market for my wedding dress). They have some of their mens collection on the walls. They're true bridal clothes are in the back of the store, which is where we spent the majority of our time. They have a huge collection of bridal clothes and had quite a few for the exact color that I was looking for. The woman working the store, happened to be Afghani and didn't understand Hindi (spoke perfect English though, which was great for me!) and was a true sweetheart the entire time I was there. She was really helpful picking out different clothes and quickly picking up styles that I liked/disliked. She was also nice when trying clothes on, showing me different ways that I could wear the clothes. Overall, a really nice woman....which made me feel bad when we didn't buy anything from them. Their clothes were really nice, but they were a little pricey and they didn't have exactly what I wanted. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely go back there for any occasion that I was looking for an outfit for.

You can tell it's a woman's owned business by the decor and the thoughtful product selection. Merchandise is selected with great taste and reflects great fashion sense. I was surprised and excited to find a purse I didn't buy in Athens last year and immediately added it to my basket. I loved when the owner told me " I sale everything I would wear". She was very personable went above and beyond to explain when asked questions. Honestly my girlfriend and I felt like we were on a shopping spree with another girlfriend of ours which made our experience more pleasant. In addition to the purse I purchased gorgeous statement handmade ring that would match well with one of my statement necklaces from Devon Leigh. I've been in fashion for 15+ years and it is exciting for me when a merchandiser is brave enough to challenge the market by introducing small handmade European brands. Bravo! My girlfriend bought a candle and called me raving about the smell and clean quality. Prices reflect the quality and selection in the boutique and are a good value. My purchases were wrapped beautifully and I received them in well made canvas tote with Hará's logo that I will definitely use and advertise the store. I emailed the boutique afterwards because I didn't receive my e-receipt and immediately received a response with attached receipt. Another point for exceptional customer service that is rare to experience now days! You can find clothes, accessories, candles and even Greek olive oil. I urge you if you haven't been to Hará to take a walk and visit to support a small business that bring beauty to Astoria. Cheerio!
