Shake It Up Bartending - Our founder Tiffany Shaking It Up

Tiffany…read morewas great to work with leading up to the event with communication and logistics and made everything so easy for us. She came up with an incredible signature spicy mango margarita for our event that everyone loved! At the event, Tiffany and Chris were very friendly and professional and the entire service from set up, through service, to break down, went perfectly. We'll definitely use them again if we need in the future for any events!

This was the worst experience we have ever encountered and by far the lowest point in our wedding…read moreevent. As the Father of the Bride, the one who paid for the services, and the one with first hand knowledge of their ineptitude, I can say unequivocally this is a vendor to avoid at all costs. Despite multiple emails sent and received, with explicit details and instructions communicated, Shake It Up arrived late, unprepared, and completely disoriented. I had to meet them one hour before the wedding started and explain to them everything that had been previously communicated, and they still were vastly unprepared and in over their heads. Example...they were clueless as to the craft cock tails we had on the menu despite clearly communicating this before the event. Second example was watching Tiffany butcher the cork on a $250 bottle of wine because she didn't know how to properly use the corkscrew. DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR. You will be significantly disappointed.

One stressed out wanna be chef (Me) on the mountain needed a bit of help with a Thanksgiving feast for Kings. Busy Bee Catering swooped in and saved the day with their "Sides-Giving" offerings fit for royalty! Their fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy were divine. Their chicken apple sausage stuffing was a show stopper, as was the relish tray (as big as a trough for my goats), roasted vegetables and Fall harvest salad topped with sinfully delicious candied pecans. I feel like getting married again so Busy Bee Catering can handle the food. Thank you so much! You'll be seeing me and my hungry tummy again SOON!

They were amazing to work with and so calm and wise to keep this MOTG relaxed to enjoy the events. The quotes were more reasonable than others and food/flavor/freshness/presentation not compromised. I had wanted our son to go with the PDX caterer and Jan & Dani were definitely the best choice. You can't go wrong with them. We also used them at Alpine Events for our rehersal dinner with 52 people and the dinner was fabulous and the event space so lovely and personal for our gathering. Jan & Dani even decorated with the runners/candles/banner and flowers that we dropped off while at the rehersal. I can't say enough about them! Janey

Voila' first came to my attention several years ago when I noticed that they were the ones working…read morethe classiest events around Portland. (I am a professional musician.) One of the things that made them stand out for me was that they always made a point to set aside a tray at the end of the gig for the musicians - that kind of courtesy was unusual, and the food was amazing! Based on those experiences, I hired them to cater a fundraising event for our youth symphony, and they were great to work with in every way. They kept us within our budget and everyone raved about the food. Several years later when it came time to hire a caterer for my wedding, there was no question in my mind that I wanted Voila'. Still, my husband-to-be was living in CA, so I set up a tasting so that he could decide if he wanted to try other places, or go with them. No question - after trying the food it was Voila' all the way! I've seen negative reviews on this site. Is Jonathan opinionated? Yes, but there is good reason for that. They take their food seriously, and they have been doing this for a long time, so they know what works. Now they are also doing event rentals, and I found it to be cost-effective as well as more efficient to also order the linens and such from them that our venue did not provide. I really appreciated his input and did not find his manner off-putting. In fact, he even agreed to meet with me again when I was questioning my choices on the menu! Of course, in my field I am accustomed to strong personalities, and I don't take offense at someone who is passionate about what they do. Everything they did at the reception was STELLAR. Everything they served was scrumptious, and their excellent serving staff made sure that everything was smooth and trouble-free. Delivery/clean-up was flawless. Since they make everything to order, they do not do buffets, so if that is what you are looking for, this isn't the place for you. If you want organization, exquisite flavors and something really special - call Voila'.

We had a…read moreterrible experience with them, but we put on a smile through it all...until they ultimately canceled on us with relatively short notice. While our event was just a big catered party for friends/family/neighbors, I can't imagine what is must have been like for the unfortunate couples who have crossed paths with them when trying to put together their special wedding day. The themes that emerge in others' reviews below sum up our experience with Viola Catering nicely: Alisabeth S.: "RUDE.... Don't waste your time." Luana V.: "If you value your time and have any self-respect, I recommend staying far away from this business...Their salesman (or owner?) spent 90% of the time we were there patronizing us and speaking poorly about the competition" Marjorie R.: "...constant name dropping and excessive story telling by Jonathan...I mention that we have hired a wedding planner...Jonathan asks me how much we spent.  I uncomfortably answer X dollars.  He says, "you have wasted X dollars," ...and he "would rather walk (us) out than work with a wedding planner." This is a huge disappointment to us.  I try to ascertain whether they will work with one if they are given "the power" on the day of but instead he continues to make condescending comments and insult us.  We were invited to stay for dinner but we walked out on them instead." Kang Z.: "I hate to bitch about anyone but really really want to share how bad the experience could be with them. The smaller guest number you have, the less respect you will receive...They don't want any feedback from client. It seems they're just so proud on what they do and either you take whatever they offer you on menu and price or you will be just humiliated! I have to say that is the worst experience I ever ever had before. Again so regretful that didn't read review first." Hannah B.: "Very poor service, I needed a caterer and was abruptly told I could "NEVER" work with them because I already had a wedding planner. Very rude and abrupt, work on your customer service skills!!!!!! Would never hire or recommend them to anyone!" Sarah L.: "Terrible! Jonathan is a pompous ass! Don't waste your time!"

We were promised follow-up assistance the morning of our event (a very special baby shower), but we never received a call or message. By late afternoon, we still hadn't heard anything--only to finally be told that they had another wedding to cater and could no longer help us. There was absolutely no advance notice or communication, and we were left scrambling last minute. This kind of service is deeply hurtful and unacceptable, especially for important, once-in-a-lifetime occasions. We expected reliability and professionalism and received neither.
