Scheduled an appointment with Perfect Home Services through the Trane site. The representative that was sent on-site was extremely unprofessional. Upon the representative arriving on-site, he immediately corrected me when I mentioned getting an estimate. Stating that he was a closer and he didn't provide estimates, proceeded to tell me he was top 5% in the nation in sales doing over $3M in business annually. The most frustrating part was he left the job, I took him to where everyone else accesses the roof of my building and the moment I left he took off. I'm guessing because he mentioned getting paid based on his rate of closing. Unfortunate this was my first experience with a Trane dealer. read more

UPDATE: Perfect Home Services came out today to cap off the old ventilation pipes. I've updated my rating. Overall, I'm very happy with the work they've done for me over the years and would recommend them. I've used Perfect Home Services for my heating and air conditioning for 6 years now. I've had great experiences with them up until last week, when my water heater went out. I used their Perfect Plumbing service to replace the water heater. The plumber that did the job was good, but he advised me that he was not qualified to perform ventilation work and the ventilation for the old water heater, which is not needed for the new one, would need to be fixed by- me. After spending $7000 for my furnace and AC to be replaced by them last year, and now $1500 for the water heater, I expected a lot more than to basically have to "Macguyver" the vent myself. I've contacted Perfect Home services twice- once this past Friday, and again today, but haven't been contacted by a manager. It's pretty disappointing, and really poor customer service, especially since I'm a VIP customer. I'll try to post a picture of what the area looks like. read more

I had Perfect Home install a new furnace and a/c in my home. I couldn't be happier with the service, speed and professionalism. Their salesman Jake took time to explain the different options and really took into consideration my family needs. Having a young child with medical issues and severe allergies was a huge concern of mine. He explained all the options for cleaner air and it together a package we couldn't pass on. We had our furnance through JNJ (acquired by Perfect Home Services) for less than 10yrs. Due to a known (mfg) heat exchange issue, it stopped working. The sales guy tried to tell us this was an upgrade, but after looking at the specs the new furnance is 60K BTU versus 80K BTU. Also, the installers left holes in our drywall when bringing the unit downstairs. We called to discuss these issues and were told someone would call back, but no one has yet. read more

Seniors BEWARE!!!!!! - this company sends out technician's that must work on commission. They prey on the elderly that does not know anything about the furnace or a/c. I called them to come to my mother's house to service the furnace. She is 83 and on a fixed income. They tried to tell her that the thermostat and the exhaust motor needs replaced. $1100 total - $380 for a thermostat and $720 for the motor. First the thermostat is only 1 month old. Thankfully I had them call me before doing anything. I paid them $99 to try to take advantage of the elderly. I called another company that came out right away. They replaced the batteries in the thermostat and reprogrammed. Total cost $100 including the trip. PLEASE READ THE OTHER REVIEWS BEFORE YOU CALL THIS COMPANY!!!! I just had an AMAZING plumbing experience!!! I made a call and the plumber came out the very next day. I needed a new sump pump and to have a check valve installed. The cost of parts was $275 and labor was $300. The tech was knowledgeable, friendly, on time and professional. He was at my home less than 2 hours (plus the time it took for him to go get the parts). Total was $575! Great job, fair price. BUT It wasn't Perfect Home Services! They came out the day before - after LONG delays and lack of communication. THEY wanted $1100 - $1300 depending on my "choice" of parts that they had on the truck! THEY wanted to RIP ME OFF! Do the math... let's say the parts were $275 (true cost) - let's double it... that's $550 with outrageous markup - lets say 3 hours labor. That would be $1200 average of the estimates minus $550 = $650 for labor (divided by 2 hours = $325/hr!) all just stupid math to make a point. I called "Perfect" b/c my last experience was good (Alex did some work) so I called them again - wanted BIG bucks - and probably thought they had me over a barrel. I basically kicked them out, called a local plumber, got my stuff fixed for half the price. NOW lookin at yelp HALF of their ratings are 1 star (I counted)! He really seemed to care and went above and beyond in giving detailed explanations of what he did and recommended. I am extremely satisfied with the appointment and will be using them again! Please use this company's services with caution! We used to be loyal customers of Staedtler Heating & Cooling Co. until they got bought over by PHS. Smith from PHS came out for a heating & air system tune-up on a Friday afternoon (their first visit to our home). He proceeded to use a fancy camera to get into the furnace and understand the current state (we had minimal issues with the furnace even though it was a 19 year old unit and we did annual tune-ups the last 5 years, with no major issues). So imagine my surprise when Smith found issues with the draft induced motor, evaporator coil, blower motor, contactor and compressor and condenser fan motor. The biggest issue was the heat exchanger which he thought was cracked. Smith told us that this was a beyond dangerous situation and that we were putting our lives at risk. He said he could get a sales guy out to our place that evening for an install the next day. My husband wasn't at home so I told him we needed to wait until Monday - he wasn't happy about this and made us sign a liability waiver in case the furnace blew up or if carbon monoxide leaked out after he left (really scary situation!!). He then checked the AC (which was working but not cooling as well) and told us it was on its way out, leaking refrigerant. We had Gil, the sales guy, come over on Monday and explain our options (AC-furnace packages ranging from $11K to $17K). We said we would think about it and then decided to get a second opinion. I told the second company that we had a problem but I wanted their technician to find the problem first since we're getting a second opinion. After the second technician comes out, he does find issues with the bushings/mounts being worn, the heat exchanger being rusted and the AC being low on refrigerant. Then, after showing him Smith's photos, he agreed that the furnace needed to be replaced due to its age and recommendation to replace both the AC & furnace together if the units are the same age BUT he did not see any cracks in the heat exchanger nor did he consider this an immediate hazardous situation. Also, mysteriously, our AC stopped working within 5 days of PHS examining it so we weren't sure what happened there. We went with the second company's (Heat Engineering in Countryside) recommendation and replaced both our AC and Furnace for $8K. When they pulled apart the old furnace at install, I asked the furnace installation technician (no previous background to our situation) to show me the heat exchanger and we could find no cracks - it was just rusted due to wear and tear. Heat Engineering was open to answering the hundreds of questions we had about the situation and replacement options (its an expensive purchase) and even told us we didn't need a two-stage furnace/higher tonnage AC (for the size of our place) OR maintenance until two years down on the AC since we installed it at the end of the season. We will be using them in the future. As for PHS, I'm too scared to even call them for any maintenance visits (part of our VP package) in case they find any issues with our new HVAC system. read more

Awful service. This company is very quick to accept your payment but then disappear when it comes to backing up their services and stand behind their work. In 2019 they replaced a water softener in my home. For the past 10 months whenever the softener is regenerating, at different parts of the cycle it rattles/vibrates so hard it shakes the whole house. In April 2023 I called PHS to talk to someone about my softener and potentially get their assistant to exercise the manufacturer warranty (ideally, PHS would have replaced any parts covered by the warranty). I got 1 call back from Collin in April, I was at work and could not answer. I called back on 3 separate occasions (4/25, 5/3 and 5/16) to speak with Collin and never got another call back from him. I decided to revisit the issue in September, I requested a tech to come out. PHS was very quick to book the appointment and charge for the visit (tech came out on 9/15, 4+ hours beyond the time window they said they'd be here). The tech did not have any solutions, their suggestion was that I reach out to the manufacturer and request a replacement valve (way to stand behind your work...) this tech also mentioned if they were to replace the valve it would cost me about $800+ for labor. The tech wasn't sure if a replacement valve would be the fix, he was just spit balling. This tech did a partial regen so that he could hear the noise/vibrating that occurs, because he canceled the regen mid-cycle the water throughout the house had a strong salt taste until it rinsed through (he said this would not happen). I called the next day (9/16) requesting a call from the tech to ask if there were any setting changes he made that caused the strong salt taste the next day.... And to this day, still haven't received a call back. Again, this company will book your appointment and charge you for (partial) services without a problem, however they will not stand behind their work or help you get to a solution. Beware - an obvious problem was incorrectly assessed which led to high-cost unnecessary pump replacement and service manager refused to refund money for their error. Basement toilet would not flush. Called Perfect Home Services to fix the situation. Technician (note the company will sometimes refer to these technicians as sales reps, which may explain why this happened to us) assessed the problem as a faulty sewage ejector pump (even though it was still kicking on). He claimed it was a problem with the activator switch; however, never pulled the pump from the pit. Recommended install of entire new ejector pump. I was unable to be present the day the installation was performed due to work obligations and feel that the company took advantage of the situation to explain the repair recommendation to my pregnant wife. Proceeded with install per recommendations and two-man installation came to property. Next use of toilet resulted in sewage backing up into the basement from the floor drain. Perfect Home Services returned to house to resolve the problem. Upon opening the sewage pit under my direct observation, it was noticed immediately that there was a blockage at the end of the sewer drain pipe in the pit. This blockage was partially hanging out of the pipe - how could this have missed! We feel as if we are m a victim of an opportunity to immorally upsell a client. Perfect Home Services rodded out the blockage in a matter of minutes and the system is currently working. There was no need for a several thousand-dollar replacement of the pump. Upon discussing with the service manager (Joe), he attempted first to explain to me why I was not right -assuming I knew nothing about sewer systems. However, I am a licensed engineer in multiple states and have knowledge of these systems. He had several false claims for reasons why this situation was not their fault during my conversation with him. One example of this fallacy tactic was that pit was filled with water. However, this was not possible because there is an overflow into the sump pit. When I explained the overflow, he tried fear - claiming that our plumbing is not to code. In the city of Chicago, it is a combined sewer system, meaning that sewage and rainwater all go into the same pipe in the street. Joe also offered to pull new pump out of the pit which would leave us with no sewage ejection because Perfect Home Services hauled off the old pump the prior day - such a generous offer. When Joe offered us a tiny portion of the total bill back as refund, he stated that he needed to get approval for a refund. Joe refused to put me in touch with his supervisor or even supply a name. Later in the day he informed me that he makes all the decisions regarding refunds and must also do so for custom service inquires. Bottom line, we were lied to throughout the process. We had a good experience once before with this company and left a glowing google review for HVAC services. Hence, Perfect Home Services got the call first to fix our toilet this time. However, this is probably the worst customer service experience we have ever had, and we will never contract with them again. The costs associated with the sewage ejector pump should have been refunded because that was the right thing to do. When given the opportunity to make the situation right, we were only met with obstacles and excuses. read more

We had full HVAC replaced by PHS and they botched the whole install, the technician never sealed the side of our house (where ac is at) which caused rodents to enter the house. Their management acknowledged the mistake and offered us $200 towards exterminator. Three months later and the A/C unit failed to start. They sent out four different technicians that spent three hours each day guessing what the issue could possibly be without fixing the issue. Their management team is impossible to get ahold of, only way is for the customer service rep to send them an email, and good luck if a manager reaches back. In November 2019, as the weather was changing to cold, my furnace decided to stop working. Blower motor. Knowing I was on borrowed time with my 19 year old furnace and air conditioner, I was not surprised that the furnace needed to be replaced. I called Perfect and they came out same day and were able to have a new furnace and air conditioner replaced the following day. I received great service. There was a minor issue with the thermostat later in the week but they came out right away and made the repair. I intend to use them for service and clean and checks. read more

"If I could give 0 stars I would" but here's our review. Me and my wife just purchased a new home in October and we needed to purchase a new furnace. At first Perfect Home Services was great, maybe because they wanted my business. We ended up choosing them over a few other company's mainly because of their financing. The salesman working with us was great. He was able to get our price down and still get a free Ecobee Thermostat and free duct cleaning. The install went smoothly however the placement of our filter is essentially jerry-rigged and we have to bend and force the filter in. Granted out space is tight but paying over 10K for a furnace and AC unit we should be able to find a way to put a filter in smoothly. After the install they told us to wait for duct cleaning. There was confusing on the amount financed I called in and the customer service rep said someone from that department would call back to help figure it out. That never happened. (I had to reach out to our sales person to help with the situation and it finally got settled a few weeks later.) That same call I had the customer service rep schedule a duct cleaning for the next day. The next day came and no one called or showed up. I called back and I guess the lady never confirmed my appointment so I wasnt on the books. So i had to reschedule, finally They did our ducts and dryer duct for us. A few days after we noticed that the dryer still wasn't drying clothes and there was a liquid coming out of the duct where the dryer is, that wasn't there before the cleaning. So we called, granted it was after main hours but they said they would call back. That never happened. our dryer was not still not working. We assumed that it was the dryer since the ducts were just cleaned. We had geek squad come out and they determined it was our ducts. So I called back for probably the 3rd or 4th time and again the lady was away from the desk and they said they would call back. Guess what happened next??? If you said they never called back you'd be correct... so we called a family friend who is a contractor to look at it. He determined that the duct was so dirty and clogged near the top where it vents to the outside. He said whoever did you cleaning didn't do a great job. So that makes me question how well they cleaned out whole home. Perfect Home Services was great when they wanted my business. Once we got our furnace installed the service went down hill. I feel like if I'm spending over 10K I should be getting great and responsive customer service. But that's because i worked retail and still am working in customer service and i know what customer service should be. read more

We scheduled a service appointment with Perfect weeks in advance in order to have a Saturday appointment. I received a text and email from Perfect the day before confirming the appointment. When the appointment day arrived and it was nearing the end of the appointment window, I called to see if the technician was on the way. It was then that I was informed, that the "manager" called me yesterday (no text, no email this time) and left a voicemail message AFTER 5 PM to reschedule the appointment. So my appointment had been CANCELLED with no confirmation or notification. Half the day WASTED waiting on a technician that was NEVER coming. We used Perfect in the past but this was NOT perfect customer service. I understand prioritizing customers with no A/C during hot days but treat your other customers right too. read more

When I received the invoice, in the "Description of Work" area, the technician added some comment about a joke my husband shared with him. What the heck was that about? I called the company to express my annoyance, and they said they would look into it and call back. Crickets. I called them a week later, said they would look into it and then only sent an invoice with the comment removed. No explanation as to why the tech would have even put that in. I also asked to speak to someone about setting up an appointment for a quote and was told I would get a call regarding that. Again... crickets. I called this company expecting I will get a good deal. The job is to replace cartridge of shower valve. I was quoted $528.00. Good I printed a $50 coupon. I was desperate at the time because the faucet was leaking. It turned out the guy did the job for only 15 minutes. I think I was ripped off to pay that much for a job of 15 minutes. From now on, I will learn how to do it myself. Youtube has lots of tutorials on how to replace cartridge of faucet. Save yourself hundreds of bucks and heartache for being ripped off. read more

I hired them for my 20+ year old furnace for check up and cleaning. I knew i needed to replace it soon. The tech was so informative and answered many questions I had. I asked him to get me prices and he was not pushing me to get another unit. They did have the best price so I did than hire them to put in a new HVAC. They came the same week. They covered all my floor and stairs. They were great friendly respectful and very knowledgeable. I did not know this company had bought out Hampshire heating and cooling and that's who I thought we were using. My technician came out and he checked everything out and he scared me thinking I need a new furnace. But I had the furnace checked by another company and they said it checked out OK.
