My friend got me a gift certificate here and I finally got to use it today! I spent a little more and bought a package with a massage and pedicure. The massage felt amazing- Liz was very soothing. The girl that did my pedicure (Chloe) took her time and also did a great job. I never felt rushed, just relaxed! I loved that they offer hot herbal teas too. Great overall experience! read more

A great experience for my two sons and me! Very clean, welcoming day spa in a cute neighborhood on Cary Street. Great COVID protocols in place and they provided a face mask for one of my sons who forgot his in the car. My older son and I got pedicures (he's a football player and his feet/toenails were a mess) and both of my sons got 30-min massages. The staff from receptionist to massage therapist to nail techs were friendly and very good at their jobs. Definitely a great place for locals and visitors...recommend showing up a few minutes early to find street parking (no designated lot I don't think). We walked around the neighborhood after our spa visit and lots of cute shops and restaurants TS t read more

Great customer service. Very friendly and professional. I will be returning! I received a manicure. The service was very personable.

My husband got me a gift certificate to this salon. When I went to use it, I was told it had already been redeemed by another party. I was confused since this party was a total stranger (they actually gave me her name). The card had never left my possession, and presentation of the card (with the recipient's name on it) is required for redemption. When I expressed my dismay, pleading with them that there must have been a mistake (maybe a duplicated certificate or keying error), I was told repeatedly that there was nothing that they could do. End of story. I felt disbelieved & dismissed. Needless to say, I will never be back since they obviously don't care about my business and don't adhere to the adage that the customer is always right. Fortunately, with no shortage of great salons in the area, this really is not much of a loss. read more

Perception-Organic Spa - De-Stress pedicure with warm foot booties! - Day Spas Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

clerk promised to service me & 4 friends all at the same time; 2 for facials & 3 for massages.we inquired several times about the accuracy of being served together. Upon getting there, clerk later stated we could not be serviced together after two individuals were already undressed & awaiting massages. I was forced to get an unwanted pedicure to wait for other guest. Clerk offered 10% off, but continued to not take ownership of misleading our party to come to establishment. read more

My co-worker and I chose this place because it was listed on the downtown Richmond Marriott site. Our massages were awesome. We both work IT and have been in hotels for about 2 stressful weeks. We each got a massage that took care of knots from too much sitting, too many meetings and too many nights in hotel beds. We can't recommend them enough. Only regret is that we didn't find Perception Spa sooner. Bonus- plenty of restaurants and street life so you can explore the neighborhood after your massage. read more

Took my mom and daughters-in-law, staff was professional and made us feel safe even during Covid

After doing some serious research on Yelp, I was lucky to discover this organic spa for pedicure with my BFF. I called before they opened and left a message hoping we could get two spots right when they opened, and they called me and fit us in with plenty of time to get there. Everything smells like essential oils (to me, that's a good thing) and I felt it was very clean and professional. The technicians were friendly and very skilled. As we were sitting there, it seemed like a few regulars came in (it's always a good sign to see regulars!) They have a great selection of colors, including organic polishes. They use brand new nail files and scrubs for each person which justifies the slightly elevated cost compared to a few of the other options nearby. I was very happy with my experience, and recommend it to others! read more

The Perception Organic staff is second to none. So kind, very clean during these times of COVID. I was only one of three people in the spa and was +6 feet from all customers. This is my go-to place for a mani or pedi and the entire staff is fantastic at what they do read more

I was at Perception on Friday and am very disappointed with my first experience! Not only were we charged more than the advertised price for the package I have 5 bruised fingers two were bleeding during the manicure! And for arriving 20 minutes late due to traffic my massage was cut short by 30 minutes without being offered any other option which in my opinion was very poor customer service! Overall I like the way my nails look and the massage was good however I will never be going back again or recommending it to anyone I know. Thanks! read more

This place is a gem. Repurposed sewing tables used as manicure tables, tea, ginger infused water, fruit and nuts offered upon entry make this haven a delight for fans of all things organic. Best and perhaps most importantly, the technicians and people taking care of you (and these guys know what they are doing) are not exposed to any harmful chemicals all day long - which makes me feel better when I am sitting back taking in the pleasure of a pedicure. No cell phone noise is permitted, which I greatly appreciated and the nail technicians also seemed to follow the clients lead on whether or not to be talkative. Everything was very clean and the chairs extremely comfortable. Prices were also reasonable for the care and level of service rendered. I hope Perception will be around for a long time. This is my second visit and I am going to keep coming back! read more

Perception-Organic Spa - Day Spas Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

I was very disappointed with my experience at perception organic spa yesterday. I went in for a gel manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. I'll start with good (the reason for 3 stars) - the environment was very relaxing, the staff was very pleasant, and everything seemed to be very clean. A lot of the tools used seemed to be brand new for me which was a nice touch. In general my toe nails look quite good, although I do have a chip and I've never had chipped toenails before two weeks that I can remember. Now the bad, my technician didn't speak English well which is not an issue for me but I couldn't communicate to her that a couple of my nails were crooked so that was frustrating. Also there are a lot of imperfections in my gel manicure - bubbles , uneven polish, ragged edges. From a distance they look good, but up close they look a little homemade which is disappointing given the price. read more

Great place provide great service. Tamia (I think that's her name) she was good w/pedicure and manicure but when it came to detox manicure she begin to rush and I don't feel like got the full experience. Massage was phenomenal very tense but much needed. Unsure if I will return. read more

Great customer service and everyone was very friendly; however, the quality of service was horrible. Did a powder dip set for my wedding on Thursday, 5/30 and by Wednesday 6/5 - most of the nails were coming off. This type of nail service should last a minimum 2 weeks. Wouldn't go back given the price point. read more

Had my toes done here with my husband. It was ok, not great, but very expensive considering that it was rushed. I liked that it was quiet and calm inside the salon but I would not go back to this particular salon for a pedicure. read more

With the exception of Liz, the massage therapist (who was absolutely wonderful!!!), I probably won't be returning to this salon. I got a Living Social deal and scheduled my appt for the Friday before Mother's Day. First they called and wanted me to come in earlier because they had a wedding party they were trying to get in. I agreed to come in but was a few minutes late because of an emergency at work. I called to let them know but no one answered the phone. When I got there the manicurist proceeded to fuss at me over and over about being late and how I was putting her behind. After the wedding party came in, I may as well have been gum on the bottom of someone's shoe. That was my mother's day present to myself and was very disappointed with my service. I won't be back. read more

The message room is right next to the mani/pedi area and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. The whole salon is so small and feel cramped. The message room barely fits a massage table. I wasn't very impressed. I told my masseuse the areas I would like him to focus on and he gave me a blank look and looked confused. Not very friendly either. I did try their shellac manicure which was pretty good. However, without groupon I don't think I'll be returning again. read more

My friend had a fantastic massage and I really enjoyed my mani-pedi with Emily. She did a great job. I highly recommend Emily. Can't give more than 3 stars because the other nail tech answered a phone call and then talked on the phone while she was giving a client a pedicure. Distracting and made the whole experience feel a little low rent. read more

I have been going to this salon since it opened for regular pedicure appointments. You only have one pairof feet...so take care of them. Mercedes is aboslutely wonderful!!! My polish stays on the entire 6 weeks until I make it back in and no, it is not the shellac. The toes look as good on week 6 as they did on week 1. I love the early Saturday am appointment as Carytown seems to be less hectic. There is a parking garage behind the salon, so you don't even have to manuver the street parking. Everyone is friendly here. Mark did my daughters hair for prom and it was beautiful. She was able to explain to him what she wanted and it looked that exact way when she left. Reasonable prices for the Richmond market. read more

I had a great experience here with such sweet ladies and impeccable customer service. The environment was relaxed and welcoming. One of the main reasons I came was to avoid all of the chemicals at normal nail salons. It was so great to not be breathing in the fumes! Such wonderful products available here as well. read more

Excellent pedicure - $37. So much nicer than a traditional nail place. I got a same day appointment. It lasted approx 30 min.

Went for my first pedicure at Perception yesterday. i had a living social deal to use, so I was excited to return. Saw Olivia again and she was wonderful as always I have very small feet and toenails, and I appreciated the time she took to shape them and polish them. it is not the easiest task, and she did a great job. I loved that they were open on a Sunday, the salon was quiet since there were not many people around. Olivia gave me a punch card that will make my 5th pedicure 1/2 off so I am very excited about that. Thanks again for a job well done, Olivia! read more

Amazing massage experience by Elisabeth. Needed today after a couple of rough months. Thank you for releasing some of the built up tension. I wish the massage room was a little more soundproof as I could hear other clients in other parts of the building. read more

Came in as a walk in and had my first pedicure. Jennifer was very attentive, professional, and kind. Great place. Highly recommended.

I'm always happy with my haircut but the front desk leaves a lot to be desired. The receptionist is rude and unwelcoming. On my last visit, while she did say hello, she did not look up from the computer. After awkwardly standing and staring at her for a minute or two, she finally looked up and said, "what can I help you with?" Luckily, the stylist makes up for her lack of friendliness. read more

I did a walk in at this place. I'm from out of town and was getting my hair done near the area and decided to get my nails done too. I got a shellac manicure. Absolutely beautiful spa, and even better experience. I was a little bothered when i went to pay and was charged for a design, because i asked for glitter. If i would have been told ahead of time, I still would have paid, but felt it was shady to not tell me beforehand. Two hours after I left a nail chipped and the next day another chipped. Remind you, this was shellac. My manicurist, didn't cap my my free edge, and she filed my nails she filed back and forth instead of one direction, which causes nail breakage. So I called the salon and was told the manager was out and would call the next day. The receptionist was nice and understanding, and since I lived an hour and a half from the area understood why I couldn't just come in and get them fixed. However, the next day the manager didn't call, which I thought was slightly unprofessional. So I called back the day after and spoke with him, I again was treated with the upmost respect and great customer service. He accommodated me. The only reason I would ever go back when I'm in the area, is because although there were a few things that bothered me, I was always treated kindly, and still overall had a relaxing experience. read more

Perception-Organic Spa - Exactly 2 weeks later. I have a gel kit at home so I filed down the chips, put on 2 coats of clear top coat, and capped edges. - Day Spas Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

This place is amazing. In addition to using natural products, the salon is clean, the staff friendly and the vibe inside of the salon is so calming. They have snacks to munch on, a great selection of nail colors and a variety of awesome services. I love the happy hour pedicure, which is so worth the $55 price tag. This is the place to go for pampering!! read more

We were in town and made a very lasy minute decision to come in after reading so many positive reviews. Our call was handled by a very nice gentleman at the front who found a way to accommodate us into a very busy schedule. The facility was i immaculate and comfortably decorated. On a pretty wedding visit my fiancée and I stopped in for a mani/pedi (his first). Very nice upscale atmosphere in the salon, clean, serene, welcoming. We were offered something to drink upon entering, a must if you ask me! Great job with the services, I made a few special requests and they were very nice about accommodating me. He even stayed for a massage while I ran errands elsewhere! read more

I've been getting brazilians for about three years now and this is honestly the worst wax I've ever received. As avid waxers know, hard wax is generally the go to for such a sensitive area. She used mostly soft wax instead of hard wax and still had the audacity to charge me $75. I was in shock since last year they charged me the same price for sugaring. I have never spent that much money for such an awful experience. I definitely do not recommend them for a Brazilian. read more

Update: owner responded very quickly. She took full responsibility, spoke to employees, and apologized. Her sincere attitude and efficient handling of the situation is quite impressive, and has convinced me that my experience must have been an exception to the usual and most likely just a bad day. With an owner this responsive and involved, this salon definitely deserves another chance and a good review. read more

A serene, delicious-smelling oasis in Carytown. No nail polish fumes and fluorescents here! the name is misleading, they are not an organic spa. When I visited, it looks like they offer some organic things, but that is it. Very clean place, the environment was what I expected in Carytown.
