I went to Peppino's for takeout today. I ordered a large Italian hoagie. I was not thrilled with what I received. First the roll...it was a hard sesame seeded roll. It was close to 3" wide and not that great. The Italian meats inside were sparse, very sparse. I get more meat at the Wawa. They also make a tomato pie but I did not order it. The gentleman who took my order was an Army veteran who was friendly. I was the only customer at 12:15, the lunch hour. Plenty of parking. The hoagie with a bag of chips $19.00. The place was recently purchased under new management and you can kind of see that many of the key points of what made this place a 4 1/2 to 5 star rating kinda left with the original owner. The quality of the ingredient seem to have changed where they're using different rolls than the Lucas rolls from South Philly. And whenever go to the Caesar salad, no longer uses bib lettuce instead it goes for the traditional, every pizzeria lettuce. The other thing would be when it comes to the sandwiches. They're not seasoning them as well as they were before the new ownership. I really loved this place and would actually eat there almost every single week because the quality of the ingredients was what made this pizzeria stand out among all the other pizzerias in the area. Love this place ! The square pizza with cheese on the bottom is my favorite, portnoy reviewed the round cheese on the bottom but I think the square is tastier and a better value. You can't get a better sandwich anywhere, the triple threat is my favorite! I had the regular Neapolitan recently and was surprised how good it was , definitely a nice change of pace from the other area pizza choices. Quality ingredients make the difference! read more

Today was the third time I've been to Peppino's. I initially heard about them on One Bite. Luckily, I go to Chalfont periodically for work. When I'm in town, I grab a pie. I enjoyed all the pies I've gotten there, but I'm particular to the Grandma Pie. Toppings and cheese combo are great., Crust is perfect. I like it better than most of the pies I've gotten in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I highly recommend. read more

Came here because Barstool told me to haha. I grew up within walking distance! And when I saw it on instagram I was like hey I know that place! So when I was back in town for a family event I was like of course I'm stopping. Had their regular cheese and a tomato pie slice. You can't tomato pie down here in the DC area. I ordered several cheesesteaks with fried onions from Peppino's on my way home. They were ready in the exact amount of time provided over the phone. The owner was very friendly and told me a little bit about his history with the restaurant which only goes back a few years so if you haven't been there in years it may be worth a revisit. The steaks were delicious and are near the top of my list from sandwich shops in Bucks. The cheese was perfectly distributed throughout the meat. The red onions and toasted (and seeded!) rolls were a nice touch. Will report back after I try more of the menu. read more

Since our first visit my wife has been hooked. She talks about needing her "Pepinos Fix" every week. The owners are very accommodating and the service is on point with their fresh made to order pizzas and sandwiches. I need to start exploring the rest of the menu but the old fashioned is so good I keep ordering. Ambiance is your standard pizza place, a few tables, mostly take out orders but we always eat in with a bottle of course. Best pizza I've found in the buxmont area. Order early on the weekends! Disappointed. Order a half pep/half plain. Sent me a full Cold/reheated pizza that at one time was full pepperoni. They just picked off half of the topping and threw it in the other side. The whole thing tasted like pep. Surely your cook had to know this was a bad idea.? Pizza tasted like it had sat around, then they threw it back in the oven, pulled some toppings off and called it day. Every pizza should be made fresh, every order. I had been a happy customer before Dave Portnoy stopped by and blew this place up in popularity, which I'm cheering for your continued success. But customers need to be treated with respect too. Don't think we don't notice the things you're doing that reduced the food quality. I hope this review will make you reconsider your approach. The pizzas start getting smaller and smaller after the 7.8 score. How do I know? It's a 16in pizza box (see pic attached). The pizza (Grandma's pie), advertised as 16", used to fit snuggly in the box, now it's just floating in there. It's now like 14". I gave the benefit of the doubt at first due to the sudden influx of new customers, but this continues to happen a few more times. Also, very recently, there is a 4% service fee added to the final bill (see receipt attached). I ordered takeout, so I'm not sure what's this service fee is. Lastly, the quality has been impacted as well. More specifically, the amount of mozzarella cheese on each slice is way less. Go and look at some of the Grandma's pie pictures on Peppinos Instagram and from other reviews and compare it to what I received. The pizzas pre-Portnoy did look like the Instagram pic, but I guess not anymore, which makes me feel quite sad. I know you can still make the old Grandma's pie because I've seen you put the un-skimped, good-looking Grandma's pie on display when I walked in to pick up my supposedly same pizza. I'm ok with you increasing the price due to high demand, but this sneaky approach is not cool. I hope to support you again in the future, but probably not anytime soon. read more

Only thing good here are the cutlet sandwiches. They don't even offer fries. Only bags of chips. Pizza isn't good. Service is hit or miss. If they are busy they will take the phone off the hook OR answer and tell you they aren't taking anymore orders. Weird. read more

They use Liscio's rolls so that's a plus. Their meat taste good so another plus. They put romaine on the hoagie...what is that? It's not horrible by any means, but I would try something else next time in the area. The hoagie was way out of proportion with the bread to meat/cheese to vegetables. Even after my experiences in Northern and Southern California, Oregon, NYC, and more recently, North Carolina, this place left me speechless. Literally. Stopped into Peppino's on a Thursday around lunch time. We tried the cutlet Italian sandwich and the Buffalo cutlet - both were outstanding. The bread and the cutlets are top notch. We met the owner who was nice enough to give us tomato pie to try which was also delicious - sauce was out of this world good! Definitely recommend stopping in. I am SO glad this place opened. Everything I've gotten has been excellent and perfect. Cheese on the bottom round pie, tomato pie with fresh mozz, Tommy hoagie, veggie hoagie, tuna hoagie (it's chunky tuna- not super mayo heavy tuna salad), even a hot veggie grinder which isn't on the menu but they made it when we asked. This place really is south philly in the suburbs. The tomato pie is hot- it's not at all like Corropolese style- but it's so good and I wouldn't necessary compare them to each other because they're very different. The sauce is homemade marinara- nothing wild or crazy, just good old fashioned tomato sauce. It's not sweet. The crust isn't NY style thin, but it's def not as thick as most tomato pies. It definitely leans towards being actual pizza rather than tomato pie but it's SO good. My favorite pizza in the suburbs right now. read more

I've only stopped here one time, in the way home from my son's baseball game. I was pleasantly surprised to find the best cheesesteak in the Lansdale area. Ordered from here three times. Their tomato pie with the cheese on the bottom is a 5/5 star and defiantly one of the best I've had. My wife ordered a Turkey hoagie and said it was the best as well. The reason for the 3 star review is based on the regular circle pizza and roast pork sandwich I had. The regular pizza lacked strongly integrity and was entirely way to thin/crispy. The roast pork sandwich was extremely dry even with me dumping the entire container of aujus on it. We also ordered a regular salad with chicken on it. The lettuce was crisp, croutons homemade, homemade dressing, and the chicken was shredded not grilled and was to dry to eat. Chunky tomato sauce means you might get a whole skin-on plum tomato on your pizza. And the cheese quality is sub par. I was really disappointed in the quality of the food. We ordered takeout on a Thursday night. Service at the counter for pickup was pleasant and prompt. Ambiance is that of a typical northeast pizza parlor. I ordered the cutlet sandwich with broccoli rabe. Bread was stale - very tough and chewy. Sandwich had spinach instead of broccoli rabe.
