Pepita Crusted Salmon - chef recommended medium but I requested rare. It arrived beautifully and rate as I requested. Soft and flaky. Super yummy! We opted to sit outside to watch the sunset but it's a bit hard to see from the direction their patio sits, but still beautiful. Service started off friendly enough but sometimes the responses from our waiter came off as condescending and not friendly. Food was good and so was the cocktail I had (Gila Monster.) We will be back to try more of their dishes and hopefully we'll get a friendlier waiter. P.S. It would have been a nice touch if they acknowledged my husband's birthday as I had mentioned it when I made the reservation, but they didn't. I would have given 3.5 stars based on the two misses but YELP doesn't allow for half stars and since the food and ambiance was very good, I'm opting for 4 stars. I'll come back and provide another review soon.

A warm greeting up entering, always a plus. It wasn't all that busy for a Saturday afternoon, I'm thinking we missed the lunch rush and the pregame final four rush. Perfect timing. We started with the Pulled pork/mac and cheese balls. Delicious pulled pork mixed with Mac and cheese rolled in cribs and deep fried to a golden brown served on top of cheese sauce and green onion garnish. What a special treat perfect opening appetizer. My son and I both had the three meat plate with pulled pork, brisket and beef sausage. It was served with an outstanding tangy coleslaw, a pretty darn good piece of cornbread and I had the baked beans which were perfectly sweet although very slightly dry. The pulled pork was flavorful, juicy and melted in your mouth. Paired with the tangy bbq sauce it was a treat that was hard to beat. The beef sausage, most people would have said was burnt, but let me tell you, that is how the ends of sausage should be. Great beefy flavor, well seasoned. The beef brisket had ONE good quality, it was juicy, after that is where it went completely down hill. ZERO flavor, none, it was extremely thin, almost 50/50 meat to fat cap ratio. No smoke flavor, no seasoning, nothing. Almost like it was boiled to tenderness. This is where this review went from 5 stars to 4. Brisket is meant to be heavily seasoned and put in the smoker. All in all Fork and Fire still puts out great food although be prepared to pay. Over $100 for lunch for 2 with tip. But with beef what it is today it's getting harder and harder to find good deals. A- Happy eating

Given the snug interior, the patio offers some extra seating al fresco, and it was busy on a Tuesday lunch. Small diner menu with some German offerings that lend that Alpine aire to compliment the treed mountain views from the back side of the restaurant. The Mountain Soul $18.10 that all us Fraus in the club seemed to embrace featured 2 tasty snappy brats, tart vinegar forward German tater salad, stewed red cabbage (oddly no sauerkraut), and a hunk of sweet corn kerneled cornbread, complete with the diner staple dispensers with the slider top honey globes on each table if more sweetness were needed. Hearty grub that, thus half+ came home making for a very tasty Round 2, that I popped into a Pretzel Dawg Bun, yum! Herr hubby as did most of the guys opted for a bowl of chili $17.07 with both chunks of beef and beans and was pretty tasty with medium heat and thickness. Sodas $4.65 are the most we've paid of late but feeding up a picturesque mountain comes at a cost haha. Our waitress was efficient during ordering and the food came out quickly for our large group of 25. However, our tab got messed up not really surprising given our size, but glad we caught it nonetheless. She was very apologetic and then packed us one of their beautiful specialty small pies to go, with our amended bill. Strawberry rhubarb, plenty for 2, flaky crust, very sweet though, so for those on sugar watch, this pie is not for you haha but sure to satisfy the pie lovers, and apple struedel is here of course too! Happy to support Mt Lemmon businesses and the Iron Door's charm is a worthwhile escape with a huge parking lot across the street. Come breathe in the cool mountain air and fill the belly with some scratch alpine cooking.

Tonight is a great review of Mi Tierra Mexican Restaurant. Carolina, the owner is always so welcoming and friendly. Tonight our server was Diego. He defines great service. He was not overboard with anything; however, anything we asked for came quickly and with a smile. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were wonderful; although, for my taste a little salty. My husband had the ground beef burrito served smothered with red sauce. He said "Now this is what a burrito should taste like". The chips and salsas were plentiful and speaking of salsa they have brought it up a couple of notches. I mentioned this to Carolina and her comment was "do you remember our other salsa " I responded "yes, like ketchup". Her response was "yep, you remember the other salsa". This was Tuesday, April 28th and they were packed. No music except for the Mexican music on the speakers. Personally, I don't enjoy Craig who plays here a lot; although, perhaps many do.
