We've eaten at Peppermints a few times and I don't think we can go back after our last experience. We were there for breakfast and two people in our party ordered pancakes. As our food came out and the pancake people started to put syrup on their pancakes and cut them up, we noticed an ANT on the plate. After opening the syrup container, we saw another ant swimming in the syrup. We notified the waitress who had the kitchen make new orders for those two people and she brought out warmed up syrup from a different batch. We were completely grossed out. I ordered eggs, bacon and toast with homefries and my meal was nothing special. I kind of expected that they would comp at least one of the meals, AFTER AN ANT crawled out of the syrup, but they didn't. I don't think we can go back. :( It's unfortunate because the wait staff is super nice. read more

Great Deals and Service! Check the daily specials for breakfast. They have some awesome price busters such as 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 ham (?) For just $5.99! Our waitress was friendly, fast and attentive. If you want breakfast and are in area this is the place to go. I had Eggs Benedict.. it was okay, not the best sauce I've had but it passed. My favorite diner, hands down. Typical diner food, but quality is consistently awesome. I always order off of the breakfast menu and it's available all day. This is a family-owned establishment and the staff is always very friendly. It can get very busy on the weekend mornings, but they're still so fast! This was our first time at Peppermints and we were so glad we stopped. The first impression was the really friendly and welcoming staff. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. The food was delicious! Two of us had the gyros and one had a wrap. They were all fresh and had great flavor. Even the fries were good. There is nothing terribly good or terribly bad about this place. It reminded me of a Shoney's in the old days, before the food bar. I got a cheeseburger. It was dressed with absolutely nothing. I did not order it plain but I guess that is what they serve there. The meat was flavorful although not super plentiful. I enjoyed the bun most of anything in my meal. My daughter is a vegetarian and she got the spanakopita. It is actually one of my favorite things in the world to eat, and so I asked for a taste. But at this restaurant it was so tough that I had to forcefully cut it with a knife and then I could hardly chew it. I actually spit it out into a napkin. The service was adequate. My husband ordered some sort of Philly beef sandwich. When it arrived it was almost comically small. I don't really remember what the other three people ordered. It was unremarkable. I think that for what we paid, we probably could have done better at a different restaurant for our meal. One nice thing about this place is that they offer pies that are made by some special needs individuals. The pies look delicious, but we did not buy them because dinner was already so expensive I did not want to spend more for dessert. But it is a nice thing that they do that. I don't know if all the great reviews of this place are the result of nostalgia or what. Again, it's not terrible. But I couldn't recommend it, and I think that there are probably superior places to stop and have some dinner with your family. read more

The food was good- the bread was fantastic but the service was some of the worst I have ever had. Slow to greet (we already had our food picked out before she even greeted us) and were served stale coffee which was Never refilled. The waitress stopped by only when necessary and even then we had to walk up and ask for our check because she could not be bothered to return to our table. It wasn't busy there was no excuse. Eh... the omelet was not good at all. They put sliced cheese on top and I'm not sure if that ruined the taste or not but I didn't like it. However, the LA Cinnamon whatchamacallit was very very good. Well the prices are great and what you get for the price is even better. Great portions and great tasting food. You can't go wrong coming here. Fantastic food, excellent friendly service and awesome prices. Greeted at the door by the host "welcome friends" with a great smile. Beautiful inside as well. Clean and well maintained. Greeted at our table by our server within 2 min of sitting down. Food was delivered hot and quickly. They were moderatwly busy a little over half the restaurant full. Ordered pancakes, eggs with a side of sausage. Pancakes were fluffy and my over easy eggs were perfect. The sausage was sausage but very good as well. My husband had sour dough toast with his Chef Scramble and of course I had to sneak a taste of both. The toast is thick and heavenly, by far the best sour dough I have had since moving to Rochester. After a long morning of hunting I couldn't be any more excited to grab a bite to eat. Peppermints was near by so I decided to give it a chance. The welcoming staff pointed out that their favorite one the menu was a contraption called "jailhouse," which in short is a breakfast trashplate with hot sauce. Anyone from Rochester will understand what this is, but if your not a trashplate, also known as a garbageplate, is a smorgasbord of foods compiled into one messy plate. While the title does not sound super appealing, I will tell you it's a must have! The jailhouse is my new favorite plate despite the time of the day. read more

Being in the Hospitality Industry as well as holding three degrees in the fields of Food and Hotel I have yet to find a more affordable and pleasant establishment family owned in Monroe County in Henrietta N.Y. I regularly take my family and friends to eat either breakfast and Lunch/Dinner here and we never leave hungry or dissatisfied. No matter what time you dine at this establishment you will find affordable menu items that have fantastic portions from a creative menu.The servers are pleasant and willing to accommodate diet restrictions when possible. I have never had a bad meal and I very much doubt I ever will and if I thought different I would not sing its praises or recommend it to everyone I know. If you really are on a tight budget I suggest going from 6:30 am to 11:00 am for breakfast specials Monday through Friday but all the prices are reasonable so there is no real bad time to go. I usually have the 222 or the Country breakfast but whenever George the owner serves his Irish Shepherds pie you know I will be there everyday. If you have not eaten here then you truly do not know what you are missing in this homey and relaxing establishment where you are not made to feel like a patron but treated as family. read more

On our Great Road Trip of 2013, after turning north at Mars, we found ourselves in Rochester, NY, visiting RIT to see if that interested the youngun' for college. As we headed out of town for the next leg of the trip, we needed lunch to steel ourselves for the long ride to the Berkshires. As we approached the Thruway, we came upon Peppermints. The waitress was very nice. The only minus was she didn't check enough for coffee and soda refills. The meals however were very good. My son had chocolate chip pancakes (yes, he is going to college - at least he didn't order Froot Loops). They aren't on the menu, but they did a great job. My wife had an Irish Benedict, which replaces the bacon with corn beef. And I had a gyro. All the food was great. Better than any of the diners back home for sure! read more

Fiance and I had a lamb gyro and chicken souvlaki meal... Sooooo good!! Taziki sauce was clearly homemade and delicious, the pita was like a mini cloud, and the chicken was moist and flavorful! I will be coming back to Peppermints. This is my new favorite diner in the Rochester area. The people are great and the service was pleasant. We went on a Saturday at about noon. There was a good number of people in the dining room but it wasn't packed. This meant we were seated immediately, after being greeted very warmly at the door, and our good came quickly. I had the Chef Special scramble. I loved it and would gladly order it again. The corned beef had a great flavor and they were nice and liberal with the cheese. I also never saw the bottom of my coffee mug, which I like in a diner. We want to go back to try something off the lunch menu next time. For our first trip, we were really impressed. read more

The food was alright, the server was O-K, I was most excited about the interior decorating. The server, unfortunately, failed to mention how the checkout process went. Being it was the first time I had been there, I sat in confusion for about 10 minutes. Was I supposed to go up to pay? Is she supposed to come back? How did this rock get in my shoe?
