Salmon Pepper Rice & Kimchi Beef Pepper Rice

Very late to the game, but finally got to try Pepper Lunch after seeing all of their sizzling plates on my feed! We went here for OC Restaurant week and got the beef kimchi and salmon (+ kimchi) pepper rice. They were both so yummy but my favorite was definitely the beef kimchi. It was so fun to cook the meat and mix it all up. The food also came out super fast.

Pepper Lunch is located at Irvine Spectrum near the movie theater. It has ample indoor and patio seating. You can order different combos and it comes out on a sizzling hot plate. The food is delicious and well seasoned. The service was good and it was very nice to sit at the patio and people watch.

We wanted to try something new and this place seemed to be like hot stones places I been to before. I regret going in with expectations but when the sizzlin hot stone came out I got really excited. Overall this place was a solid 3/5 and keep going to see why! You order on a kiosk to get it delivered to your table. That is always nice but the cost for the feed feels like it should be a table service experience. I got the salmon and beef pepper rice combo. You get the hot stone with the meat uncooked. Don't make the mistake I did and forget to season your meat before cooking it. My partner did that and we noticed a flavor difference but overall the flavor was not the best. For a placed called pepper lunch, and not tasting it in the dish was pretty surprising, however I was happy to see the salt and pepper shakers at each table. It gives me the feel that is may be how the place works. The salmon was pretty bland but the beef was solid. If I were to come back I would not get any type of salmon and to their beef dishes. My partner had the chicken and beef and would agree. It gets a 3/5 due to the overall flavor, taxte and cost

Our first experience at Pepper Lunch was a great experience! The staff was very friendly and Nate was great! Since it was our first time here, Nate took the time to suggest their most popular dishes or to choose a combo if you can't decide which protein you want to try. We opted to order the beef and salmon combo. When the sizzling plate was delivered to the table Nate gave us some instruction and explained the sauce options on the table. We appreciated him taking the time to do this. Initially we tasted the beef without the sauces and it was a little bland. After adding a LOT of both sauces, salt and pepper there was more flavor. I am actually surprised there was very little pepper taste given the name of the restaurant. It would be nice if the proteins were marinated in a sauce of choice to give it more flavor. I now understand why add ons like garlic chips and onions are available at an extra cost of $1.99 each as it would add more flavor to the dish. It's just a shame you have to pay for the extra flavoring. You also want to make sure you start stirring the proteins as soon as the sizzling plate comes to the table to avoid overcooking the proteins since we like our meats and fish cooked to a perfect medium. All in all we enjoyed our first experience of cooking our lunch on a sizzling plate, we really had a nice lunch and will be back!

Review 54/365 Day Challenge Finally trying pepper lunch w my mommie besties. Came here on a Friday right b4 they open at 11 a.m. was waiting patiently for them to open. What i ordered Jumbo beef sizzling rice plate. I liked the bowl. Was hoping to love it since I've seen it around and a friend told mee about it. It's a bit on the bland side. Even adding the garlic soy like sauce. I added a lot too to give it some more flavoring. It's more on the peppery side and can taste the oil from the butter. Like a Peppery & buttery taste. They use Iteon brand green teas. It's good. One of our fav green teas. Associate Ashley Is friendly. Restaurant is a fast food eatery. Received our plates pretty fast but possibly since we were one of the 1st customers there when it opened at 11 am. They have an ordering kiosk where you order, put the # of your buzzer that's next to the kiosk. so associate know which table you're siting at if your dining there. Restaurant is clean with lots of table indoor and covered outdoor patio seatings. Located in Irvine Spectrum next to THE DIVE & SilverLake ramen. Lots of Parking in the parking structure or parking lot area. Highly suggest parking towards Javier's restaurant or Improv comedy side.

Located near Regal and Silverlake Ramen, this spot is great for a quick bite. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and ordering through the self-service kiosk makes everything fast and easy. Service was quick and smooth. We ordered the regular and jumbo beef pepper rice ($36 total). The dish itself is flavorful and the meat is tasty, but I do wish there was more protein for the price. Still, a solid option when you want something quick and satisfying.

I had Pepper Lunch once 2years ago when I was in Bangkok. The restaurant was located inside the big Princess Hotel where we stayed. But it's pretty popular in the Asia, mostly in the malls and at the food courts. All locations appeared to always being busy with long wait. When I saw it at the Irvine Spectrum, thought I'd give it a try and see if it's any different here at our hometown. Had the beef pepper rice, their main item and most selling on the menu, I think. It's good but too basic for me (just beef and rice). I wouldn't go out of my way to find it but it's convenient while you're shopping but don't have much time and just wanted a quick bite.

Quality was decent, about what I usually expect here,it was my first time at the spectrum location and the service was very friendly. The main reason for my review is the portion size it was surprisingly small and barely covered the bottom of the skillet, which felt pretty underwhelming for the price. Keep in mind the dish pictured doesn't come with mushrooms and I added them on for an additional (1.99) which is the price for any additional topping such as green onion, corn, egg, cucumber, onion. So if I didn't add a topping even more of the skillet would be showing.

This might satisfy some people, but to us it was a pretty mediocre meal with lack of flavor in the meat and the overall meal is that of a weekday quick meal you whip up in a pinch. You order at the counter and it took awhile for our food to come, and the ambiance is just a quick fast food place at the spectrum mall. One of the handful they they have. Glad to try it, but will not be returning

Incredible service, came with my 5 of my friends on a busy Friday night for the first time. Reggie was very kind and polite, even explaining and apologizing for the having us wait in line to be seated. He also gave great recommendations, offered us water right away when we got a table, and helped explain to us how to cook on the sizzling hot plate. Tried Pepper Lunch for the first time last night and had the most amazing experience! Not only was the food delicious and so fun but the staff were so kind! we ordered the dragonfruit drink and it was perfect! Not too sweet and very refreshing. The moment Ferhat brought it to our table my toddler accidentally knocked it over and Ferhat immediately with no hesitation and with the most kindness, came back, wiped everything down brought extra napkins to wipe myself and my phone and brought us another drink. I was so touched. She never complained nor showed us she was upset or that we were a nuisance. Ferhat and Nate truly made the experience an exceptional one! Because of them we will be coming back often, helps that the food is equally as yummy! Thank you again Ferhat and Nate! Way to show a mom with two babies and full hands so much kindness! Food delicious, service amazing, ambiance on the patio nice for a summer lunch Lance was an amazing server....so attentive and such a nice guy. Food: I ordered the Beef pepper rice add egg. Son ordered beef curry add garlic chips. Once our sizzling plates arrived, I added the table sauces (steak sauce & garlic sauce) both umami flavor bombs!! Our server Lance brought us ice cold waters and lemonades which were refreshing after walking in the summer heat. Lance was very attentive, our drinks never reached empty because he kept us refilled. And he went above and beyond by bringing us some fries just because. Management should know they have a hardworking, attentive and super friendly server in Lance. I used to go to the Alton location once every few months but now that we have a location 8 minutes from home makes this our new go to! Will definitely be back! 10/10 highly recommend! read more

My kids LOVE Pepper Lunch, and this location is no exception! The food is always delicious, and the service fast and friendly. It does get busy, but we never have a problem finding a table. The manager, Melissa, was kind enough to accommodate our group of ten. She quickly put two big tables together and we were all able to enjoy our meal together. The Worst Part? The Manager. I don't often write reviews, but my experience at Pepper Lunch Irvine Spectrum was frustrating enough that I feel the need to speak up, especially about the manager running the place. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was off. We were barely acknowledged, and when we asked (politely!) about the wait time, the manager responded with a smug, condescending tone that made it clear customer service isn't her priority here. It honestly felt like she was doing us a favor by letting us eat there, which is ironic considering how much they're charging. There were empty tables, yet people were left waiting far longer than necessary. It was obvious the front of house was disorganized, and the manager (Melissa) didn't seem to care at all. No urgency. No accountability. Just bad attitude and worse leadership. To top it off, the food came out with skimpy portions that didn't match the price tag. I left still hungry, and annoyed. The food could've been decent, but any chance of enjoying it was ruined by the way this place is run. Management needs a serious reality check. You can't treat people poorly and expect them to come back. I won't. read more

Not sure what the hype is about this place besides its location near the movie theatre at Irv Spectrum. I came back for a 2nd time to even be more disappointed. I ordered two of the same things. First bowl was regular no change, second was remove the veggies. The one without the veggies came first and the second one took about 15 - 20 minutes to arrive. I believe it was forgotten about because about five or six other customers around me, all receive their food, including the other people in my party and I had to ask twice for it. And to add to that, it was an off hour at lunch it wasn't even that busy. In addition the fact that you charge for a side of the smallest cup of kimchi is disgraceful after spending so much money on this very unimpressive food. Portions are so stingy, they barely give you any meat, and it's so thinly sliced you need to be adding double to it. My 1st grader wasn't even full from the stingy beef bowl and he got his own portion. For the amount you charge and weak service I would expect a lot more. Nothing redeeming about this spot. read more

My first time and the manager Alben was very gracious and so welcoming along with his assistant Roberto who was so helpful with explaining the menu. Staff was very professional and friendly. Walking around the Spectrum Center in Irvine can be very exhausting. Today was a hot, sunny day and all I wanted was some good food in the shade. Luckily, I found Pepper Lunch on my arduous quest for food. The environment was perfect: a shaded spot for me to enjoy my sizzling hot plate of rice and protein (beef and salmon). I couldn't have asked for a better place to sit and recharge for the hour. Upon sitting down, my server, Khaya, asked if I wanted a cup of ice cold water. Touched by their attentiveness to my clear exhaustion, I enthusiastically said yes. Khaya and Lena continued to check in on me, a gesture I greatly appreciated. A small, yet important detail that I greatly appreciated was Pepper Lunch's use of reusable silverware as it is more environmentally conscious than using disposable utensils. Pepper Lunch is the perfect spot to enjoy delicious, sizzling food surrounded by lovely, attentive, and caring people at Irvine Spectrum Center. I was honestly hesitant to try Pepper Lunch at first because the menu shows raw meat, and I wasn't sure how it all worked. Thankfully, Roberto was super helpful and explained the whole concept to me. He let us know that the food is served on a sizzling hot plate that cooks everything right in front of you, kind of like when you get fajitas at Chili's. Amazing food and excellent service from Ashley made my experience at Pepper Lunch truly unforgettable. From the moment I sat down, everything was handled with care and attention, and Ashley went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. i'm not one who would leave reviews on places but this was somewhere i just had to make an account for it. Joe and Ace were AMAZING and they were so attentive with everything we needed. I loved the fact that they brought out our sides first before our main plate. We ordered a Chicken and Beef Combo and the Kimchi Beef. They had all the right flavors going and a plus was the restaurant was never too overwhelming we had an amazing lunch here. Plus a huge shout out to Melissa for coming out and checking in on not only us but all of the customers to make sure everything was correct. read more

I had such a great experience at Pepper Lunch thanks to Nate! He was super friendly, attentive, and made my visit amazing from start to finish. You can tell Nate really cares about his work and the customers -- he greeted everyone with a smile, explained the menu clearly, and made sure everything came out hot and perfect. They were both very friendly and provided excellent customer service, making sure everything with our order was perfect. I went to Pepper Lunch on August 20 and Omar really made the experience stand out. He was welcoming right from the start and made sure I felt comfortable. He took the time to go over the menu and gave recommendations that turned out perfect. Throughout my visit he checked in just the right amount and made sure I had everything I needed. To start off the setting was nice and soothing. I got the shrimp pepper rice, it was really tasty and smelled amazing. Three workers stood out to me because they were so welcoming and even helped me decide/recommend what plates I should try. Not just that but they also checked on me to ask how I liked it and if I needed anything else to ask them. Thank you Daniel, Rob, and Alben for making it one of my top places to go.
