Just walked out of this place and a rude man helped me. Tall, heavy set, didn't catch his name. 9:30 am. Pouring rain. Day before Thanksgiving. I get it. Some may not want to work in these conditions. I asked for an oil change on my 2015 Honda CRV. He said I would have to wait 2 hours. I said no problem I'll Uber home and he can call me when they're done. Mind you it did not look terribly busy as it was just myself and one other lady in the shop but that's fine. These things take time and I get that. So he asked for my ID and car key to confirm some info on my car. He came back and said sign in the box to approve the work. No hello, no please, no nothing. Just cold from the very start. The box read $79 and some change. I said wait, this oil change is almost $80, that sounds a little high. He said yup, full synthetic oil change. I politely asked if I could take some time to check elsewhere for a lower price. He slammed my key down on the counter. No words, no thanks for coming, no offers for other options. Nothing. Just a very unfriendly "Bye Felicia" vibe. I was shocked. I couldn't believe it and just took my key and left. Then to top it off, I get to my car and the driver seat is COMPLETELY soaked. I guess while he was checking the mileage and other things he carelessly left the door open and the pouring rain drenched my drivers side leather interior seats. So I sat in a wet seat while I drove to my next destination where I got what I was looking for- a reasonably priced oil change and friendly service. This Pep Boys is sad. My Dad used to work at a Pep Boys when I was younger so I thought I'd take my chances. It's changed big time and I will NEVER go back. Dissatisfied, disappointed, just terrible. read more

They're scammers!!! I took my mazda3 there and bought the lifetime alignment for $200. I had changed my control arm and needed an alignment, so I left my car and they called me 2 hours later saying that my car was ready. Picked it up and the steering wheel was still off, I went back and they said they can take a look the next day. The next day, I went back and told them that it was still crooked, the manager told me the workers didnt know how to use the alignment machine so they didnt do it at all! So I asked him for a refund and he said the sale was final. So I called corporate and the regional manager forced the store manager to give me a refund by putting us kn a conference call and asking him to apologize to me. Never going back here. While driving tired, and on my way to a paying gig, I stupidly ran into a pothole and killed my rear tire. All my tires were bad to bald so I knew they all needed changing. I pulled in about 20min before they closed. I really needed my car and the job. They were willing to stayed late and they had a four for one tire sale to boot. Can't say enough on how they saved me. Went in for a simple oil change for my truck. My clutch ended up "going out" in the process. They couldn't get me a proper estimate till the morning on a work day. They were ready to charge me 400+ just for labor and had no idea on the parts or what was really wrong. They wanted to change parts until they found the problem. Brand new tires, came here since it was nearby so why not support a local biz. After alignment was completed the first time, noticed a significant pull on the steering wheel. Took it to my personal mechanic, all the hardware checked out. Went back a 2nd time to get the alignment done right. It was a bit better, but the pull on the steering wheel was still too great and one of the tires was wearing out prematurely, coinciding with the direction of the steering wheel pull. Work got busy, had no time to take it back a 3rd time. Finally brought it back and was told it was irregular wear and tear, Beto had no problem lying about it, knowing it was because they improperly performed alignment 2x. I wish I could support them, but they are just salespeople, nothing more. Go to Confidence Auto near the In N' Out, at least they'll tell you the truth. This was a shared account, so this review is coming from reviewer Monique L. This location has gotten better and better in my opinion. The amount of respect towards the customers has escalated. One new addition, I attribute this to, is Josh. Josh is always friendly, and does his best to help above and beyond. He even stayed later one evening, when I was running behind, as I was unclear what time the store closed, to replace windshield wipers. Beto, the manager is great, too. He's very ambitious and a good liaison between the mechanics and customers. Martin, a mechanic, loves helping with people's car issues, even smaller things, which aren't on the price chart. He will go the extra mile to help out. Btw He worked by Area 51 for a few months. So you can ask if UFOs look different than the vehicles, he's worked on. Ken, a store manager is also helpful. All the men working her are. It seems like they all enjoy being there, and as long as there are customers, in need, they are always being productive. This location is a relaxed area, spacious, and easy to get to. They will also drive you, if not too busy, within a few miles to take care of other errands, while you await for your car. It's next to a Goodwill, and across from a Dollar Tree, so you can shop, too. In addition they have water, coffee, power outlets, and a flat screen TV in a room with comfortable cushiony chairs. Sometimes I'm disappointed they get the job done so quickly, because I get into whatever it is I'm doing, while I await. Lol. Make sure you sign up for from Pep Boys Member Rewards, so you can get company credit, coupons, and have your car's fluids and air pressure checked, as well as, topped off, every time you take the car in. This location can get very busy, yet there are usually downtime moments, compared to some of the other locations in L.A., due Tujunga having a less dense population, as other areas in Los Angeles County. Service is at a quality level, and speedy, depending on the amount of people waiting. It's good to make an appointment, if possible. In April of 2018 I was hearing what I recognized as worn bearings possibly broken motor mount and another that I couldn't identify. Unsure of the cars safety on the road I had to have it seen. I thought pep boys was a good reputable company that I could trust. I thought even if it's a bit more expensive it was worth it because i would be well taken care of. The customer service rep Milton described all of the repairs noticed from their inspection as necessary for my safety. The total came out to $1900.00. I'm a single female student at GCC I work part time and barely scrape by. I had to borrow money to pay for the repairs. They had the car done same day. I noticed the rims were really dirty but didn't think too much of it. A few days later I was being towed home with three cracked rims. I took the car back thanked to Beto who flakes on a scheduled meeting then victor de lo Santos the area manager flaked on the meeting I had made with him. Customer service rep told me " there's no point in going after them you just need to go buy new wheels. The fix was estimated at about $1600. I had to buy new tires because I found out that dunce 2002 to current their tires were found to be the cause of multiple fatal accidents. The side wall and tread break apart while in use. The company that manufactures Cooper tires they push is owned by pep boys. Rhonda grant was the customer service rep. She would call me 3 min before 5pm on fridays so that when I'd call back she was gone and wouldn't be in until Monday. This it's been 5 months and I'm just now able to get my vehicle in driving condition. This is a horrible horrible company and they should be ashamed of how their staff handles customers. I got terrible customer service, they don't care about their customers at all. They looked right past me one day and Milton and the female assistant manager were both in the break room no one on the sales floor for 15 min discussing her sex life with an employee from a different store. My wife had a Toyota Sequoia towed in because the alternator was bad. After the first day the first alternator that they put on was defective and didn't work so they told us they had to keep it for another day. I called on the second day in the morning and the lady said it would be about an hour three hours later I called back and the guy that answered said it would be two hours when they finally called me at the end of the second day the price they quoted me was $1100 for an alternator and a valve cover, which was $300 more than they quoted me on the phone . I then asked to speak to the manager. I said what kind of a discount do I get for the truck having been in there for two days and they told me that it wasn't their fault that the first part was defective. I told them that it wasn't my fault either and that would I be able to get some kind of a discount for taking so long? I have been to this pep boys before and for simple stuff they're OK but their customer service is awful. I am totally dissatisfied with this repair. How simple is an alternator to change? These guys couldn't have cared less about my business. I told them I should just have them take the parts off and I'll have it towed somewhere else . They asked me how much of a discount I wanted and I said I don't know what's fair? So he said I'll take off 100 bucks I would encourage everyone to be very careful of this Pep Boys The management is terrible. read more

Ever realize that at the last possible minute everything wants to go wrong. Well here is what happened I drove down to LA from the Bay Area Saturday morning. The next day i go to look at my car and the rear back tire is completely flat because of a nail. This was at 2pm. I was all set to leave to head back to the Bay Area by 6pm. I was in a panic where in the world would I be able to find a place to patch my tire or put on a new one that will last the 300 miles to head back to SF. I went to Just Tires who told me the tire was bad and he didn't want to risk patching it and therefore didn't want to touch it (didn't try to sell me a new tire which I appreciated.) But I left anyways. Next I went to Tires 4 Less who turned me away without even looking at the tire, get this, because one of his 2 mechanics had just been in a FREAK accident and had to go to the hospital (hope he's okay) which meant that he had no time for me. Again understandable not their fault at all. Panic soon begins to consume me 3pm approaches the clock and I'm thinking of what to do in the case of being stranded when, like a beacon of hope shining from behind street signs I see the friendly familiar pep boys faces that I've seen on countless commercials. As though they are waving me in for landing I pull into the parking lot filled with hope and dread. I walk up to the counter and I tell him of the nail. I glance at his name tag and it says Beto. He looks at the nail and says, "Can you come back at 4 to pick it up?" And I said yes and then I left Although in my head I'm filled with questions (Can you fix it? Is my tire too old? How much will it cost?) With zero other options I leave it up to fate. I return to the Pep Boys at 4. He hands me the keys. I reply by saying "How much?" He just says "Don't worry about it, just buy some new tires soon" We had so little interaction but he helped me out so so so much. Fantastic experience. read more

Do Not Take Your Car Here!!! Under Active Bureau Of Automotive Repair (BAR) Investigation!!! This Pep Boys is a joke. Less than 20 miles after I brought my car here to get it checked for a small knocking sound the engine blew. I received a "Comprehensive Vehicle Inspection" and authorized all the repairs they said were necessary. When I got the car back it was making a louder knocking sound and within 20 miles the engine blew stranding me on the side of the road. Now they want 3000 for a new engine. I called customer service and have gotten the run around for almost 5 weeks! It is now almost 2 months since they "repaired" my car and my engine blew. Still don't have my car and have literally not gotten a call back from anyone in 5 weeks despite calling every week and being assured they would call back with in 48hours. This is hands down the worst automotive repair experience I have ever had. read more

scammers. steer away from here lol. i got a battery installed by a different pep boys location a year ago and i didn't know at the time but the battery they set me up with only came with 3 months warranty...pathetic and disappointing i wasn't made aware. anyway the car started to stutter when turning on the engine so i took it here and asked them to look at it and what they could do. they came back telling me i needed to replace my battery but i just couldn't believe that a year old battery was already dead. so then the guy actually said i could try autozone recharging because pep boys doesn't recharge the battery at this location but he didn't think it would work. i ALMOST got convinced to buy a brand new battery because he was making it seem unlikely it had any juice left. but when i went to autozone to get their opinion they cleaned up the corrosion on the battery for me that pep boys neglected, recharged it and viola good as new! i will never go back to pep boys i simply don't trust them. they also tried to tell me i need new brakes after telling me about the battery and i know that's not true because i had my car in two weeks before for an oil change and they didn't say anything about the brakes then. oh and WINDSHIELD WIPERS?!?! I honestly don't know if the people working here are trust worthy. I made an appointment for an oil change on their website for 6 pm. We pull up around 5:45 pm and talk to Paula and I could already tell her face was saying we are about to close. She proceeds to tell me that my oil change is going to be $79.99 and I ask why is it so expensive and she said my car needs synthetic oil anyways I was willing to pay that amount even though I felt like I didn't need that oil. So anyways she leaves to go check on my vehicle. She comes back and basically explains to me that I don't need an oil change yet because it's a little less than 2,000 miles despite the fact that I already explained to her earlier that we are going on a road trip and we will be passing the 3,000 mile mark while driving there and want to get it now. So then she brings in another mechanic only to explain to me that I don't need it right now. Even though I said, "If I want an oil change, can't I just get it?". So basically they refuse to give me an oil change stating that my car takes Synthetic oil and I don't need to get an oil change till about 10,000 miles....I probably said to both of them that I have read my car manual and it never said anything about my car needing or using synthetic oil and that it states on the manual my first oil change should be at 3,000 miles like 10 times. All I get is "I don't know where you heard that from." So I leave because they are B.S ing me and park around the corner to call Kia. I ask Kia directly to find out if what Pep Boys said is true.....they were wrong. Kia said that my car DOES NOT NEED synthetic oil and I should get my oil changed 3,000 miles. As we we pulled up to Pep Boys they were closing up already. So honestly it just seemed like they turned us away because they wanted to close on time. I called back to speak to Paula just to ask her what time they close and she said 6 pm, which is the appointment time I made online. I also let her know that she was wrong about the Synthetic oil and she said that is what her system showed. I drove to Jiffy Lube right after this and they were more than willing to do an oil change for me and did not even offer Synthetic oil. He even showed us his "system" showing that we needed 5w-30. Horrible accident! Went to Foothill Bl Pep Boys on July 2018 to replace 2 front tires but after a day flashing lights came on for tire pressures. Came in last MONDAY to buy rear tire in cash to avoid interest on Pep B card and follow up the annoying flashing lights for tire pressure. I WENT TO PEP BOYS TO HAVE A TOTAL TIRE CARE for my cars. Tuesday I was a hearing a little sound while running and TODAY on our way to work from Tujunga on 2 Glendale freeway just about the turn to 134 Ventura my Tacoma bogged down with the left rear tire ROLLING PAST ME. Five lock nuts went out and the brake drum was laying on the freeway. After reporting the matter to Pep B a certain DM Bill told me that he checked the video and no one touch the tire that went loose. He said they used the electronic device to check the sensors BUT WHEN I ASKED HIM IF HE SAW THEM USING THE ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR SENSOR, BILL SAID HE DID NOT SEE THEM BUT WILL CHECK AGAIN. I woke up early on a Sunday morning, ready for a road trip. Guess what.....a flat....flat as flat gets on my front right tire. Got AAA to put on the donut then trolled down Foothill looking for a tire place open on a Sunday. Stopped in at Pep Boys and was greeted with a smile. Man at the front counter had his guy drop everything to repair my tire and put it back on for me in no time. I mean it was in and outta there in like 20 minutes. And no price gouging either! $19.99. I personally had a good experience at this location when I brought my car in when I thought I had a nail stuck in it. I got home from work and when I parked I noticed there was a nail in my front tire. (Second time it happened over 2 months) I took my car in the same night right before they closed and the guy who took my tire out and basically pulled the nail out was honest enough to tell me that the nail never punctured the tire. (I guess Lexus makes really strong tires) It got stuck in the tire but never went through the thread. They didn't charge me any money for doing so but I did tip the guy for his honesty. read more

Was able to get an appointment for an oil change w/in 24 hours. After inspecting my car, the staff informed me that I would need to change my service to a larger oil change 8qt rather than the standard 5 qt. However, I must commend the staff in finding me a coupon to give me a discount as I would have paid over $100. Fast service, and the waiting area has a TV and coffee free for customers. We brought our car in to get new brakes and rotors, and the good for nothing, sad excuses of mechanics there installed them so incorrectly that the car almost wouldn't brake at all above 60 MPH. They then refused to fix this problem THEY CAUSED for free, instead insisting that this fix would cost more than the cost to install them in the first place. These are not good people. My 1994 Chevy Silverado PU needed the heads machined and replace the water pump due to overheating issue. Had the truck towed in and Beto and Carlos and crew worked on the trucked for 3 days replacing the serpentine belt, radiator, lower radiator hose, water pump, spark plugs, oil change, gaskets, machine shop work.Now the truck runs great! The service here is horrendous. These mechanics are not to be trusted! I service my vehicle religiously and was beyond surprised to learn that although I had taken my car in for new brake pads, that I ALL OF A SUDDEN needed new rotors too. What they didn't know is that I had already had an inspection at the BMW dealership right before my warranty expired so I knew exactly what I actually needed. Being a local, I called a few places including this Pep Boys to get quotes for what it was that I needed. There quoted me 200 bucks for each brake pad and I was on board. Well, I dropped it off and felt confident that it should be a simple, straightforward experience BUT to my dismay it wasn't the case at all. When they called me to let me know when my car would be ready to be picked up they tried to con me and rip me off by saying I needed services that I absolutely 100% did not need. I let them know very quickly that they're dealing with an informed consumer and that they best not try to pull a fast one on me. He quickly backpedaled and try to say well it wasn't imperative but rather it was recommended which is NOT what he first said! Anyway, when I went to go pick up my car I wasn't so much AA greeted when I went in. I was rudely addressed by a burnt out disgruntled employee that with no words of explanation handed over my invoice and requested payment. And yet again, these cons tried to tack on an additional $120 to my check and just hoped that I wouldn't pay attention and would just glaze over it, hand over my money and get ripped off. I had to once again bring it to their attention that I wasn't going to get duped by them and that they quoted me 200 bucks a brake pad not whatever loads of lies the invoice read. He mumbled something and unapologetically mentioned something about not having applied some bogus discount, snatched the invoice went to the screen, furiously typed some keys and slapped the modified invoices in front of me that reflected the originally quoted price. I paid, signed, and was never thanked or bid farewell. Forget this place!! Not only did they do a great job, they also discovered that the other business put on the wrong lug nuts on my tired and as a result ruined my brakes. Customer Service SUCKS!!! Below PEP BOYS Customer Service Standard! Drive in for a 4pm Appointment on my Truck & Nobody in counter and have to wait. After 2-3 Minutes Someone came up from Nowhere & Lazily greeted. I discuss my case about an aligment related issue on my truck which Atwater Pep Boys did couple of days earlier. Ive got a dismissive treatment that it has nothing to do with the alignment job but due to my consistent prodding that they take a look at it they finally relented & asked for my truck key as they will check it out. I felt like I owed them something that I have to beg!! Worst, is they have me wait for More Than 1 HOUR with no follow-up in between just to let us know that they are still busy & we have to wait more! Whats the point of having an APPOINTMENT in the first place??? I saw 3-4 cars arrived after me & seen them took them in So toke a peek inside the shop maybe they are busy or understaff....I heard 3 tecnicians casually chatting boisteriously & laughing while looking under a car. What??? 3 Technicians in 1 Car??? No wonder it took ETERNITY of waiting as I counted there were only 3 Tecnicians & I could not see any sign of Urgency on their work. As if they are just there trying to KILL their TIME at the EXPENSE on the TIME of their Customer!!! Furious inside of me after wasted more than 1 Hour of Waiting despite having made a Previous Appointment with them, I was just being polite & ask for my key back and told them to just cancel my service appoinment as I will just go to Atwater Pep Boys instead.
