We were on the road and on our way home when I started losing a lot of air very quickly out of one tire. I was able to pump it up enough to get us to the Pep Boys a few miles away. We were told on the phone that it would be a couple hours before they could get to us, but we really had no choice. When we got there, we went into their waiting lounge and they were able to take the vehicle sooner than promised. Unfortunately, they were unable to salvage the tire, but they put my spare tire on without charge. I feel that they went above and beyond and I would definitely recommend this business. read more

Save yourself a big headache and go elsewhere. According to the 6 mechanics I spoke to as a result of going here, the mistake the tech made, made no sense to any of them. I brought my car in for a tire change. They couldn't find the special key socket to get the lock nuts off the wheels. I don't know how this thing got lost, I bought the car 2 years ago, and have never used it. But instead of sending me on my way, they tell me the technician put holes in my tires, so I can't drive my car. THERE IS ZERO REASON TO PUT HOLES IN TIRES THAT ARE ON A CAR. They offer to pay for a rental car, so that I can go get a replacement key socket. Thanks, let me take time off work to correct the issue you created. But guess what? That's not even an option. The dealer needs the car there to determine which key will work. (Thanks Volvo) And, by the way, at this point I have spoken to 4 mechanics who have told me that there are tools to remove these nuts, but Pep Boys said they had tried all their tools, and couldn't get them off. So when I call them back and tell them they will have to tow the car to my dealer, they say well, I have my master tech here today, let us try to get them off. Fine. So I get a call back, that success! The nuts are off. great. When I go pick up the car, poor Cody is by himself. The manager and tech I have been dealing with are nowhere to be seen. My bill is full price, and there are burn marks on my wheels. It appears they used a torch to get the nuts off. They're all staring down at their computers and didn't even acknowledge me as a customer. Walked back on out the door and took my several thousand dollar repair to somewhere else. I had an appoint for 8:00 AM. I arrived at 7;45, Tim took my keys at 8:00, the tech put my car on a lift at 8:10 and there it sat with no service for 1.5 hours! I asked why the tires were not done at 9:30 as promised and Tim said they were working on it another half hour, NOT! once my vehicle was on the lift the tech worked on cars that arrived after me. I purchased a used car in Salisbury MD that needed new tires to be driven safely back to Pennsylvania. I called the the store and ordered tires that were to be installed on the car when I picked the car up on Saturday, since the tires are an odd size and were not in stock. Everything was arranged with the service advisor and I was assured the tires would be in the store Saturday. When I arrived only two of the tires were in. I was told the other two would be in Monday, which did me no good. Had to drive 200 miles on dry rotted tires back to Pennsylvania in the pouring rain. Pep Boys never called to tell me the tires would not be there, so I couldn't make any other arrangements elsewhere. read more

We had a great experience with David Williams (the manager) and the auto repair crew at Pep Boys. We blew a radiator on our way down to Va, and David made sure we were seen quickly. 3 mechanics worked on our little car, trying to get us on our way the same evening. Our car had a couple of complications that precluded us getting on the road so quickly, but one of the staff drove us to a local hotel and picked us up the next day. A couple times ago I went in and an older lady said she didn't know what to tell me because she couldn't find the battery I needed and everyone was gone. They sell tires with bubbles as new with long term warranty and its overpriced. When you wanna get tire fix cuz its under warranty they charge 61 dollars which is ridiculous cuz you can buy brand new tire for that so they basically have no warranty and they lie. Pep boys never again read more

I came in for an alignment. They seemed very professional and got my alignment done quick. I returned because I was concerned over a very slight rumbling sound at high speeds. David Williams told me my rear tires were slightly cupped, and to prevent it, I "should burn out every once and a while." He then immediately showed me the new tires I 'should' buy. Truth: Cupping is caused by soft sidewalls creating uneven contact due to improper inflation. My car says inflate to 35lbs, but to get rid of cupping, all I have to do is inflate to 40lbs. The tires I have are expensive and rated for 50lbs max, so they're going to last for a while now that I didn't listen to that manager who wanted to rip me off. Drive a nice car and everyone wants to rip you off.. Thought Pep Boys was more professional than that though. read more

I have no faith in this particular Pep Boys store. My parents took their car to this store once to get repairs, the repairs were never done but they were charged for the repairs.They had to take the car back to have Peps Boys actually do the repairs that they had already paid for. My daughter has taken her car here twice both times she was told that the car needed a new engine.The last time she took it here they said the car had " massive internal engine damage" and it needed a new enigine to the tune of $3,000. Both times I bought some parts and did some minor repairs to the engine and the car is still running great! The engine is still running fine, no leaks, no misses, no unusual noises,great gas milage, not bad for an engine that Pep Boys said needed to be replaced 3 years ago. I don`t want to think that they deliberately lied about the car needing a new engine I prefer to believe that they are just grossly incompetent, either way I don`t trust them anymore. read more

I needed a couple of quick items and was in the neighborhood so I stopped by Pep Boys on Salisbury Blvd. Glad I did. I really don't like asking for help so I tried to find what I needed on my own. No luck. Came across an employee stocking shelves in one of the aisles and asked where I might find stainless steel tag bolts. Very friendly fellow and his name was Allen. He stopped what he was doing a took me himself right to them. Needed more and gave up looking and found him again. He took me to the other end of the store and helped me again. I cannot express how terrific Zach Shaver, Nick, and Hunter are at this location. I am from New Jersey and was visiting my sister in Salisbury on 8/4/15. I ended up with a flat tire at the dollar store across the street. A gentleman in the parking lot suggested that I try Pep Boys. "They are very nice down here," he said. So I gave it a shot. I walked across the street and Zack Shaver immediately came up with a plan. He suggested that Nick and Hunter could try and pump it up with enough air to get it across the street. They did and it worked. Very quickly I had a new tire and was on my way. Zach even let me know that the place I have been buying tires for years in NJ may have been selling me the wrong size. We were on vacation a week ago, driving a rented Chevy Tahoe from New York to North Carolina, when we had a flat tire that was not salvageable. The temporary spare wouldn't survive the trip and calls to multiple tire centers came up empty...many would gladly order the tire and have it my Monday but it was Saturday and we had a family reunion to get to. I called Pep Boys and I believe I spoke to Jennifer who could not have been nicer! We calculated our ETA and she made us an appointment to speed us through. I think we were in and out, with a newly installed tire in less than 45 minutes. I couldn't be happier! I woke up Saturday morning to a dead car. After trying several different things to get the car started, we determined that the starter had gone bad. I called all of our local mechanics, and nobody could have my car back to me before I needed it to go to work on Monday morning. I called Pep Boys as a last resort, and was delighted to hear that they would be able to have my car finished SAME DAY! Their quote was $75 higher than most of the other shops, but I needed it to be done, so I had it towed to Pep Boys to have the starter replaced. When we (my husband and I) arrived, the man who wrote my service ticket said that I would have my car back that night, or "worst case scenario" by the following morning. I went home, and assumed all was well. Around 7:30, I called to check the status of my car, as I knew they closed at 8. The man I spoke to informed me that it was not finished, but would be by 11:00 on Sunday. No big deal, I didn't need it until 6pm Sunday night anyway. I called Sunday morning, and was told that they'd have it done by close; guaranteed. About a half hour after that, I was told that the car wasn't going to be done at all--that there was an additional part needed and that no one in town had it, so it would need to be ordered and would not arrive until Monday. At this point, I've been told three different dates, multiple different times, and not ONCE did anyone act apologetic or sympathetic to my situation. I was treated as though my requests for updates were a burden. So, Monday came, and I called three different times in order to get in contact with the service manager--who apparently ignored the messages that were left for him to call me with an update. When I FINALLY spoke to him, he did not care in the slightest about the issue I was having, and suggested that my time frame didn't even matter because no other mechanic would have had the missing part. I was then told that they'd "try" to have my vehicle done today. I informed him that my car HAD to be finished today--I have a job that requires me to have a vehicle, and would have no way to get myself to work at 5am without my car. This was at 11:30am. I didn't hear from anyone again until 4:30pm when I got a call that my car was done and ready to be picked up. I am extremely disappointed, and disgusted at the disregard for my time, as well as the lack of empathy from any single employee there. When I picked up my car, they offered me a 15% discount, which while I do appreciate it, does not make up for the money I lost from missing work. I will never return here, and would not recommend them to ANYONE who feels as though their time is valuable. read more

Waited over an hour AFTER my APPOINTMENT TIME that I scheduled in advance just to get an oil change.

I will first say that I ended up not taking my car here at all. I called because my mother who previously owned the car had warranties on multiple parts. The man who answered the phone after about a million rings. I explained that I had warranties and explained what was going on and that I already had the car diagnosed elsewhere and that I just needed the belt replaced. He immediately started doubting my knowledge on the subject and saying that I would have to pay for labor and that if it wasn't the serpentine belt I would be charged. I asked if I could just have them replace the belt instead of diagnosing it. He told me that I would be charged to remove the belt. Then when I asked how long it would take they said it'd have to be there all day. I live an hour away and couldn't make an appointment basically they'll get to it when they get to it. I ended up getting the belt, labor and diagnosis for less at another place for less than the labor alone would've cost at Pep Boys. Overall pep boys was not helpful, they were rude on the phone and lost my business. Small family business is the way to go not this corporation. read more

Good place, came here to get my new tires put on, tire rack said it would be 15 dollars a tire for mounting and balancing. I did pay more than 60 dollars tho, besides that the wait was very short and the service was fast. The employees are very nice and friendly. I would recommend coming here but know what you are going to pay before having your service done. Our car broke down on a Sat. night at 5:30 pm as we were passing through on the way home from vacation. Not only were they open, but they had the part in stock and got the repair completed (NOT a trivial repair, either) and we were on the road again by 7:45. Johnny, the manager in charge, was very helpful, friendly and professional. The service was excellent. We had anticipated having to find a hotel (pet friendly with our dog along) and/or rental car spur of the moment at the height of summer travel, but they saved the day and we were back home in NJ by midnight. read more

i wouldn't recommend going to this Pep Boys. My experience with this business was terrible and a waste of time. The whole business has no idea what they are doing and it helps to explain why you rarely see people there. To get my car checked out I went up to the counter and an old man employee told me that they were busy and tells me to get someone else to help me. So one of the mechanics came up and told me to wait a bit, and guess what that old man does he goes and helps a family that literally just came in and acted like I did not exist. And after the car was being checked for problems, they tell me that the brake pads are bad. Which obviously was a lie so they could charge me more than the $25 inspection fee since I had the brake pads changed around a month ago. After that he tries to tell me it's something else and once I say no, he tries to shift it into another problem with the car. So I wouldn't recommend going to this place where they have no idea whats wrong with cars and just tries to up sell you things you don't actually need. read more

I had always heard bad stories about this shop. It's been in Salisbury as long as I can remember and I can remember the old store. As time went on I started to think, if they're so bad, why are they always busy? I went in one day to get a tire fixed. The cost was somewhere around $25 to $30. Who knew my wife had a rewards card there. The cost ended up being zero. I decided to go back for an oil change I had a coupon for. $19.95 even for a SUV. While there, a mechanic came out to discuss a car with his manager. The owner wanted new brakes. But the mechanic said the brakes looked brand new. He fixed the squeaking and said there should be no charge. I was impressed the didn't try to do unnecessary work just to get some extra sales. I went back today for tires they had ordered for me. They offered 0% financing that I took plus a $100 gift card to use toward the purchase! Tires were on and I was leaving about 40 minutes. Thanks, Zach and crew. read more
