DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! Dropped car off for A.C. issue. Our car was returned to him with the entire rear view mirror(with obvious camera attached) removed from the window and hidden under a pile of stuff in his passenger seat. the pile of papers and things had been removed from his glove compartment. The trunk of his car had also been rifled through. We told a manager (?), he blew us off and claimed the heat melted the glue holding the mirror and as for someone messing with thinga in the trunk? he said "I don't know what to tell you about that". he said he would have the mechanic, George, call us the next day, he never did. We emailed corporate. No response. Now we have realized that tools were stolen from the trunk! About $400 worth of tools my husband uses for minor car repairs are gone. We are calling the police tomorrow to see what recourse we have. read more

After an inspection a while ago I was told it was about time for my rear brakes to be replaced. I scheduled an appointment due to their deal on a brake package ($149 per axel). Buddy took me back to my car to show me what they were replacing and discussed replacing my rotors due to glazing. He thoroughly explained everything and gave options. I never felt pressure to buy things I didn't need. They price matched the rotors to a competitor in the area and took care of everything quickly. Here's another example of above and beyond customer service! I am for sure grateful for the crew/team here at this repair shop & store. I was SQUEEZED in and was still given EXCELLENT service. Came here b/c car had a BAD oil leak. They fixed the issue and recommended other repairs that were MUCH needed as well. I appreciate that they took the time to actually SHOW me what the issue was on the car and told me the pros and cons of getting it repaired. I must also stress that at NO point did I feel pressured to have them complete the other repairs. It's an older car with ALL the original factory parts that just needed to get replaced. All in all; I would recommend this place of business and I plan to bring my other vehicle if I ever need repairs. Thank you all! read more

I stopped by this location recently because my battery light came on, one I had never seen illuminated. I googled what it meant and called my car guy. He said it's probably my alternator and that I should take it to the nearest shop ASAP. He suggested Pep Boys given my location. Went into the place at 7:30am on a Friday. Open sign was on thank goodness! Told the man behind the counter, Buddy, what was going on and he said his tech doesn't come in until 8:00am but that he'd pull it in and check it out. He came back and said that it was the alternator. He said that the part is in stock at the other store so instead of waiting for someone to deliver it, he called the tech that was on his way in and had him pick it up. So the process took a long while. I finally found out that some bolts were seized up so it was very difficult for them to get the alternator out. But they finally did. I also got an oil change as well because I was due one and figured, I'm here! I'd highly recommend the staff here. It was a little pricey, but the customer service was top notch. read more

I took my 2016 Jeep Patriot there because I was having issues with it cutting off on my while driving. Before going, I called ahead and spoke with one of the guys & told him about my issues. The man was so nice and told me to come in & they would run the diagnostic test to figure out what was wrong. Despite, The cutting off issues, I drove a hour to get there & by the Grace of GOD, I made it. I spoke with one of the nice gentleman and gave him my key. While waiting, I saw the guy that was doing the diagnostic testing, drive off with my car. I was concerned about him being stuck somewhere because the reason I was there was the cutting off issue. So, I went to the desk to inquire & that's when the problems began. The female manager was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. Sure enough, my car cut off of the guy and she yelled at me. She said that she cannot have him there waiting for a tow truck with my car because he had work to do. I said that he shouldn't have driven the vehicle because you all were aware of the cutting off issues. She was just rude, nasty and disrespectful. She took me to my car, she told her worker to get in her car & pulled off. I managed to get my vehicle back to the shop only to be told by her that I need to take my vehicle to a Jeep dealership for my repairs. She refused to allow them to work on my Jeep. I was devastated. I sat in my vehicle & just cried for about 20 minutes before pulling off. I was so heartbroken. I am a black woman just like she was & could not believe how disrespectful & rude she was. I could hear one of the other gentleman saying, I told her that we could put it back on the machine because now the engine light had come on & they could get a better understanding of what's wrong & she said no. She just stood there watching me cry. I drove off heartbroken. A few days later, I was referred to MNM Auto Mechanics in Colonial Heights & I got the best service I could have ever imagined and my vehicle was fix in less than an hour. THIS RANT HAS BEEN EDITED DUE TO A POSITIVE OUTCOME: Update - Pep Boys followed up on the issue I outlined earlier (which in fairness to them I have now removed) They said that, since they sold me the wrong battery due to their computer offering up the wrong battery and / or their associate not making sure he was selling me the correct battery, they are going to reimburse me the cost of electrical damages I incurred when I put the battery in my car and hooked it up. Three stars: an average from the 1 star from the original experience and the 5 stars for making it right. read more

Let me say that most of the time I drop off my car for service. I love this shop. They are always honest with me and really good about having my car ready at the expected time. I will say inspections can be tricky to get ad they usually do not do them on Mondays and then they are backed up on Tuesdays. read more

I came in to have to tires replaced and the lady at the counter took the time to To show me options for tires and then explain to me exactly why I needed an alignment. She was very knowledgeable and the mechanics here are great. They provided great customer service and don't try to sell you things you don't need like other car care providers. read more

If an auto repair shop can't complete the simple task of delivering four tires for an appointment, I'm not sure I would trust them for anything else. I took my vehicle in to complete a four tire replacement. I scheduled about a week in advance. When I came in to get the work done, I was informed that they had only delivered three of the four tires I needed, and no other tires in the store would match my vehicle. Counting to four is a simple task, and if the Pep Boys staff can't handle that, I'm not sure if you should trust them with repairing your car. read more

This place can go do you know what at this point. In the past, it was the only Pep Boys I trusted, and where I have bought at least 2 full sets of tires and had other services done in the course of my current vehicles lifetime. Well those days' have come to an end. After the BS and lame excuse given by the so called manager, these guys are on my crap-list and demonstrate how incompetent these are auto mechanics have become. A simple punctured tire, of which was on one of the previously mentioned tires, which were purchased here with road hazard coverage, could not be done from 3 PM on day 1 all the way until noon the next day. That's a pretty lazy staff, state inspections or not. Even though I was told they might get to it that day, I did not hold them to that of course. I did hold them to get to it the next morning, after I was told there was about 2-3 cars in front of me. I get there shortly after 12 noon, assuming (and yes I should have called first, but it's going on 24 hours for a 5 minute job) the next day, and I am told there is still a car in front of me. WTF!? I even noticed that my car was not in the same spot as before, and I was told it was pulled in so it would not be left out overnight. The place has one garage, with about 3-5 spots, so I found it had to believe that a) that would go through all that trouble (especially since all auto shops have the "we are not liable for theft, loss, damage, etc" to your vehicle notice posted, or b) if they did in fact pull it in for the night, why on Earth while it was in the bay no one could fix a puncture the very next day. That is like taking a shower and skipping the drying off and putting on your clean clothes. Exactly, it makes no sense whatsoever. The screw is even in the tread and it does not require a replacement tire. And then to make things worse, and what pissed me off even further, there was a guy in front of me just dropping off his car, no appointment made, for far drastic repairs than my little punctured tire, and he tells him all of his repairs would be done that next morning. WTF, again!? Pep Boys, I hope your new owner will get your stores straight, because something is amiss here. read more
