Surprised! I came because of a sign advertising the brand of tires on my car. My tire had a small, visible screw in it. Wondering if the tire could be plugged? Yes, I'm told, expecting to hear that "upon investigation, I'm sorry to tell you that you need a new tire." But no! I was told you don't need a tire and the screw did not puncture the tire! It's with a heavy heart that I have to say that I can no longer recommend these guys. Over the last 20 years I've often suspected that they've said that they did work that they didn't do and this time I finally caught them. They supposedly replaced a part on my car in a few months later I had my car inspected at the dealership and they failed it for that part being broken . They sent me the pictures and when I looked at it, it was crystal clear that that part was original. It had oxidized, aluminum, dry, rotted rubber and it was clearly broken from years of driving. Beware. I took my car in for my annual inspection. They were able to get me in quickly and finished in a very reasonable amount of time. However, when they called me to let me know that my car passed they told me that I needed all new brakes and rotors, for $800. Thankfully I'm smart enough to get a second opinion. My dad is a mechanic and took a look for me. When he took the tires off, he showed me the brake pads. My back brakes pads looked like new and didn't need to be replaced at all. My front brake pads had a good 20,000 miles left on them and my rotors were just fine. I wouldn't recommend Atlee Auto to anyone who doesn't have knowledge of cars or you will likely be ripped off as they tried to with me. read more

I had a flat with a car full of groceries. Atlee gave me a ride home and helped me with my groceries and my car was fixed the next day. They also found an issue with the wheel bearing without me asking AFTER we had already taken the car to four other places and been told different things from we needed new tires, new brakes and wheel balancing to they flat out just didn't know what was wrong. Atlee was amazing! My daughter got a flat tire near their shop (an hour and a half away from home). I called them to see if she got the car there if they would be able to fix it. After talking to them for a few minutes he offered to go to her to see if he could help. He went and met her and when he wasn't able to fix her tire right there he had her follow him back to the shop and repaired/replaced the tire in the shop and got her back on the road. Honest - enough said. I took my car here for a second opinion and boy, I'm glad I did. Goodyear off West Broad and Gaskins Rd had told me the reason my car was riding bumpy while driving and stopping was because I had 3 bent rims (due to low profile tires and hitting lots of potholes) and also recommended 3 new tires. First off, let me say that Atlee Auto Service is awesome! I called this morning and spoke to Mike and booked an afternoon appointment for a four-wheel alignment. When I arrived, Mike and the guys at front desk were very nice and understood the issues I was having with my vehicle. I told them I was just at another auto service station last week for an alignment done twice and that my steering wheel was still off. I couldn't be more happier with the service I received today from Atlee Auto Service. They had fixed my alignment and the steering wheel is straight now. I took a chance after reading the reviews on Atlee Auto. I'm new to the area so I did my research. It was the best decision I made in finding a new "go to" auto shop. From the very first call to the store to the day I picked up my van, I was treated with respect and honesty. Everyone there was kind and welcoming. He was patient with me as I asked questions as clearly I'm no mechanic. He is genuine, kind, and treated me like I was part of the Atlee family. I needed so many repairs to my van and I was stressed. We have been going to Atlee Auto since it moved to the current location, which may be around 10 years. I have been lucky to have newer cars, so they have changed oil, completed inspections, replaced break linings, as well as a few other larger repairs. They are wonderful at giving true estimates of how much time will be involved. At other repairs shops I would need to drop off and return to get the car later in the day, but usually now I just read awhile in the waiting room, and it is done before I know it! But best off all, when all the construction was going on around Atlee near the current library, I must have gotten a nail in my tire once a week, and of course, just when I was ready to leave town. According to a trusted mechanic who has serviced my vehicles for years, the part is not faulty. Have been using Atlee Auto for our cars since about 2003, after getting abused by another mechanic who quickly left the area (I hear running from the IRS). Dennis and Rich at Atlee just can't be beat -- wish we'd met them before ever going elsewhere. Not only do they take care of our three modern cars but they also look after our classics (my fave is the '57 Pontiac Start Chief with 347 TriPower!). Their new shop is very nice, and it has a comfortable lounge area to sit in (especially as compared to the old shop). Last week these guys did me a big favor and pulled a screw from my rear tire that got in on the may home from work, and they did it right at closing time without a problem. Patched the tire and even had time to do an oil change, and I was barely late getting home around the typical time of day. All our cars are now shod in Cooper tires and loving it. Yesterday, I drove my car puttering and misfiring into Atlee Auto Service for the very first time. We met Mike, who we immediately liked. Mike took our information and we went on our way. Throughout the day, Mike kept us informed of the progress and he had our car finished by the time our kindergartner got home from school. We feel that we received the same honest service that he would have given his own family, and you just don't see that much anymore where car repair is involved. See the review posted on Google for a full run-down on how Atlee robbed an older couple of $2,136. None of these receipts on my desk are legitimate. The average owner doesn't know the things I know or have the desire to investigate issues on their own automobiles. I acquired a vehicle from said couple and promptly set to work fixing all the things Atlee Auto had anything to do with, which none of it was done anywhere close to correctly. Interestingly enough, on a 25 year old car, the ONLY things that were wrong with it were the "repairs" performed by Atlee. I've been working on cars since I was ten years old and even then I would have done a better job than these guys did. I'm sorry to say, but these people are crooks and whoever thinks they're getting the best is mistaken and being taken advantage of. I'm only writing this review because I can't stand the thought of people getting stolen from. I'm not kidding when I say after seeing the unspeakable work these people are capable of I was so mad I was shaking. The thought of taking advantage of people that don't know any better makes me cringe and boil with anger. For a specific example, I will tell you a simple ball joint replacement Atlee auto performed could have got someone killed. They used undersized and underrated bolts for the lower ball joint installation allowing the ball joint to move inboard and outboard 1/2" each way, 1" total travel in a part that's supposed to keep your wheel fixed to the control arm. This has the potential to turn deadly. Driving this car home after acquisition it would not stay in its lane and I had to travel well below the speed limit to maintain control. The reason Atlee used this undersized hardware is because you have to know what you're doing to install the ball joint with the suspension "loaded". If you attempt while unloaded, you'll never get the bolts in because the holes in the control arm and ball joint are specifically sized to accept a specific bolt and the angle of installation will not permit this until the suspension is compressed. They used undersized bolts because they could get away with it and not have to do the job correctly. Obviously, since the ball joint was no longer installed where it was supposed to be due to the undersized hardware, they also charged the couple for a front end alignment. This receipt is for $550 and 100% honest to God that's $500 too much for the work performed, even if they had done it correctly. I feel *slightly* bad for throwing Atlee under the bus so to speak, but this is unacceptable and something has to be done. Hopefully someone from Atlee sees this and encourages their technicians to do things correctly from now on and maintain quality control procedures. I do not get any pleasure from criticizing others' work but this could have got someone hurt or killed and that's the truth. read more
