We started going to Salisbury for everything, inspections, tires, starter, and they fixed an issue with my car that I had for years after hitting a curb in a parking that although I mentioned the issue to progressive they never found or fixed the issue. The Huguenot Road location has gone downhill. I took my car last week to get my front passenger headlight fixed and needed a few extra things. When I asked how long it would take, they said end of day. I went back at the end of the day and they said we didn't call you we didn't have a certain part, but could get it the next day. I told them that I would leave it there because I did not need to waste another day going. So I had to take another Uber home. I was able to pick up my car the next day. They also failed to mention that they do not keep the cards on file anymore. A few days later my front passenger headlight went out again. I made an appointment for 12 PM and said the latest my car could be there was 5 PM. They said that was fine. I walk to Firestone at 4:50 pm and my car is sitting in same spot I parked it in. When I went in, the person said let me check on it. He came back and said oh it is next in line. I asked how long it would take and they said around 30 minutes. I said I told them when I got here I needed my car by 5 PM and cannot wait any longer as I had my dog at home. Love the idea so booked one for an oil change at 130pm, the guy said they were busy so it could be 1-1.5 hours, I was hoping for closer to 30 with the appointment. 2.5 hours later no one had said a word to me so I finally asked and they said my car was next but couldn't say when and that it would be another 1-2 hours at least. Got my car back, took it down the road to Grease Monkey, and it was done in 20 minutes. I've been going here for about 6 months now and I've always been a huge fan of their customer service. The staff here are courteous, professional, and definitely knowledgeable in their crafts. Firestone even has a 6 month pay over time promotion for those with a firestone card when you spend over $149 on a purchase. They have given me pretty fair prices compared to local competitors and quick services. I definitely will keep coming back for services on my vehicles and I recommend people to try this place out and definitely open up a firestone card, it makes payments lots easier. The location is easy to access, plenty of parking, and you can drop off your car and walk to the Starbucks across the parking lot if you want to wait or just pick it up when firestone calls you once service is complete! read more

I would give them less than one star if I could. Car was dropped Saturday. Was called about the repair Saturday afternoon. Told them I had to go out of town to Pennsylvania and my husband was using my car. Was told they would have the car ready by one. One o clock rolls around. Nothing. I called at four only to be told they were having problems getting the part and it would be ready on Monday. Car was not ready until Late Tuesday. Not once did anyone bother to call us and let us know what was going on. Will not be returning. We have given them a lot of business but will take it somewhere else that maybe appreciates it. Was traveling from out of state over the holidays on a Griswold Christmas like trip from Texas. On New Years Eve Sunday we had a split valve stem on a tire. We called and they could not have been nicer. They squeezed us in and fixed our tire super fast. They were so friendly and so appreciated. They saved our trip. FIRESTONE OIL CHANGE RESULTS IN DESTROYED ENGINE The Firestone at Huguenot Road in Richmond, Virginia changed my oil 3 days ago. Today, my car quit running while driving. After towing the car back to Firestone, it was discovered that the oil filter was not tightened and all of the oil had drained out, destroying the engine. No one at the store will accept any responsibility. The technicians, service manager, store manager, and even the area manager were unhelpful, indifferent, and argumentative. There was a complete lack of customer service and customer care; I received no apology and the refusal of a car rental request. I only received vague promises of an "investigation". On top of all that, both the store manager and the area manager lied to my face about corporate policies (confirmed by a friend's conversation with another Virginia store manager). So, how about it, Firestone? Will you make it right? Will you hold your local management team responsible? read more

My car had been making a strange noise and I was in the process of moving, so I brought my SUV in to Firestone for a quick diagnosis and fix. After two days of waiting, I was informed that my car had one strut that was broken, another that was about to break, that it needed new tie rods, etc. The estimated cost came to approximately $4,000 and was much more than I was looking to spend at the time. I declined the repairs, had my car brought to another garage, and was informed that the only thing wrong with my SUV was that my lug nuts needed to be re-torqued (hence the strange noise). Neither strut was broken and the mechanic recommended no other repairs at this time. It's bad enough when garages take advantage of you and try to squeak in a few extra hundred dollars of repairs, but flat-out lying about repairs and claiming critical parts are broken when they are not takes it to a whole different level. This garage is untrustworthy at best, but a more appropriate way to describe it would be deceptive and greedy. I will never take my SUV here again and recommend you avoid this garage at all costs. Took my truck here for a state inspection and oil change. They called me and said I needed a new left outer tie rod end and that my power steering was messed up. I drive this truck 35 miles each way to work every day and have never had a problem with the power steering so I told them I wanted to see the problem. 1. When they brought me into the shop they first told me that I had to wear safety glasses. I wouldn't have had a problem with this if the employees were wearing them instead of having them sitting on top of their heads. 2. I stood at the front of my truck and the technician (if you can even call him that) got in the cab and started the engine and turned the wheel all the way to the right to the stop and said that the squealing that we heard was the problem. Yes the squealing that happens when you crank your wheel all the way and hold it there apparently isn't normal. I told them to put the tires back on the truck and I would take it somewhere else. 3. I went into the waiting area and talked to the manager about what had just happened and all of the sudden the story changed. He said when the tech "pulled it into the shop" the power steering "gave out" on him an that the kid that was telling me the squealing was the problem was wrong. I told him I wanted to go for a ride and have him prove it to me. The guy that was actually doing the inspection got into the truck and we drove it around the lot. We took it out around the shopping center where he said he drove it and had the problem (before this he said the problem happened as he was pulling it into the shop). He stopped in a parking spot and cranked the wheel all the way to the left and some how did something and made it hard to steer. I told him to take it back to the shop and put a rejection sticker on it and I would take care of it. 4. The mechanic told me that it needed either a power steering pump or a new rack. And he would start with the new pump and see if it fixes the problem. I guess they just expected me to go for process of elimination rather than good old fashioned troubleshooting. I left Firestone and on the way home at every stop light I went full range on the steering several times. When I got home I sat in my driveway and continued with full range steering checks for about 15 minutes. I could never duplicate the problem. I have never had any problems with this truck and maintain it very well. If there truly was a problem with it I would not hesitate to fix it because I rely on it to take me 70 miles every day. I do not know how the tech made the steering act up but I am absolutely certain there is no problem with it. I will never be going back to Firestone again for anything and once I replace my tie rod end (they wanted $80+ for the part, I got it for $13 online) I will go and spend another $16 for another state inspection somewhere else rather than the $1 they would charge me if I brought it back to them. Dropped vehicle off for a tire issue, was told it could be done by the end of the day. Well, that didn't happen. Next day when I called I was told it was "being worked on." Two hours later, I called and was told the tire needed to be replaced, along with a list of why it was taking so long. As a young female, I feel like many other females can relate when I say mechanics usually treat women with a condescending tone when it comes to car repair, but these guys never make me feel 'lesser' or try any of that unnecessary flirting to trick me into getting more work done on my car (unlike other car repair shops in the area). I've gotten routine repairs done as well as bringing them a tricky starter/transmission problem, and I have gotten a fair price in return. I had a big nail on a run-flat tire. This shop Firestone Complete auto care on Hughenot rd said it would take two hours. More than two hours later, after the third time I asked how much longer, they said they couldn't fix it that I need a new tire and they have to order to arrive the next day. I explicitly told them I was not from the area. I know for a fact, run flat needs a plug and I can go one year without problems. what upse me the most is that they took TWO hours to tell me they couldn't fix it. mind you there were at least 5 guys there "hanging out" with three clients waiting two hours plus. a lady there had an appointment at 9 am. she was still there by 1:00 pm. another lady since 8 am. I left and took my car to Bon Air BP Service on Forest Hill Ave and my tire was fixed within 40 minutes With wait time included. Being new to Yelp, and the area, I had my setting on my Yelp app to default to searches within close proximity vs. best rated. Nonetheless, I happened upon this location due to a flat tire situation. The staff was friendly, but quickly informed me they "had a full plate that day, and could I come back tomorrow?" I had a flat tire, which needed immediate attention. It was clear they did not want my business. So thankfully, with the aide of my Yelp app, I was directed to a competitor, nearby, that was glad to help and send me on my merry way. We didn't actually get our tire changed here but they were still lifesavers. We parked in their side parking lot. We walked over to sugar shack and when we came back the tire was flat. It was already late on a Sunday and they said they couldn't get to it today. We're about 40 minutes from home and new we had a spare so just figured we would change it ourselves. The problem is we didn't have a jack or a lug wrench. They were super nice and let us borrow what we needed to get the spare on. They called me this morning and said that they could do the oil change today, but would not be able to do the state inspection until Friday. I took off work and went to pick the vehicle up and take it to another shop that could do it the same day. While I was picking up my car from Firestone another customer walked in for a state inspection and they told him they could do it. Buyer beware!!! We took our Honda Pilot SUV to Firestone due to a slow leak for a few months and got tired of pumping it up. Firestone is convenient to where we live and had a relatively decent history with them. We thought maybe a nail since it was a relatively new tire installed by my local mechanic last year. The Firestone guy told us it cannot be fixed and we needed a new tire. Just a new tire, just like that, no explanation of why it's leaking. They of course hand us a $500 list of other things they things my car needs, including a cabin air filter. I personally replaced my CAF a year ago with a K&N Filter, I know it is clean- they did not look at it. We walked out not buying anything and not satisfied with their answer. SO I made an appointment with my guy who installed the tire. He said we DO NOT need a new tire. Apparently aluminum wheels air can creep out between the rim and rubber if they are really dirty. A wire brush scrub cleaned it up and completely fixed it. No new tire needed. It is places like Firestone that give mechanics a bad name. read more

As life has moved on, I've found myself in a position where my father and grandfather are really not available... So, I found these guys. What a great bunch of fellas. Ok I did an online estimate through THEIR WEBSITE for my specific car type - and with 4 new tires they quoted me and promised me 263. Then I took it in. Got a call "your rims are 1 inch bigger, you need to get the 100 per tire tires not the 50 ones quoted in your estimate". WTF. I was pissed so they told me they'd give me a free tire and only charge me for 3 - so they get 1 star for that. Then they called back later and told me I needed it aligned also for $50 (since WHEN does this NOT COME WITH YOUR NEW TIRES!!?) I won't go back here. I hate places that lie and put back end costs on you like this. Sad because I only went here in the first place because it was the most reasonably priced estimate. I see now that is just a deceptive marketing scheme to get you in the door. I wonder if my husband would have gone in if they would have treated HIM this way. read more

I have been having all my family cars serviced at this Firestone since I moved into the area in 1992. Ssince Tim Kennel retired the service level has dropped. Appointments mean nothing, I can't get a straight answer , and the atmosphere in the garage does not give confidence. I just wasted a whole morning waiting for my oil change appointment and the car was never moved after 2 hours, with no end in sight. Will have to find another "go to" auto place. read more

This is to advise people never to go to this location . I have a 2001 Toyota Camry and I went in for a problem that I was having with the car cutting off when stopping. I ended up going there about three to four times for the same problem and with each time they kept saying it was sometihng else and charging me for the new repairs. They kept doing diagnostic tests and then would say that the car needed this or that. And when they replaced those parts, the problem persisted. FINALLY, they did another diagnostic and found that the problem was a little piece that cost only a few dollars to replace. In the end, I spent about $1700.00. I am sure that they never really checked for my problem as I was told by two other mechanics that that was one of the first things that they should have looked at. NEVER use these guys. My wife and I chose this location based on proximity. It is located in the neighborhood near our home. While my wife is not mechanically inclined, I am, having done the bulk of my auto repairs minor and major in the past. The wife drives 110 miles daily and thus needs lots of service. Always skeptical, I have tested this location repeatedly by omitting pertinent information of repairs our cars genuinely needed. The service techs have a 100% success rate at finding the problems and recommending the necessary repairs. In many cases I could have performed the service myself, but let them do it because their thoroughness and professionalism have earned them the repair. It's uncommon to find a mechanic shop that is so trustworthy and professional. 5 stars does not accurately reflect my thankfulness for them. read more

Just took my vehicle to these folks for inspection and they rejected it to say the wheel axle needed work. Since the car is used very carefully and not on highway we took the car to a second auto service center and the vehicle passed the inspection. Firestone was charging us close to $280 for repairs. Since the retirement of Tim Kennel The manager I have gotten poor service, even what I found to be diss honest service. I had some linkage problems in my front end of my car I paid them the check that they were so busy apparently they didn't check it and I looked me in the eye and said we didn't find any problems I later found they didn't even check it yet they took the payment for a safety check. Later that week I ended up having to put brakes on my car because the brakes were so thin they were squealing. If they did a safety check they certainly would've told me about that I even had to replace my rotors. They took the payment and then do the work. That's just one of multiple incidents. I actually caught him trying to charge me more for tires then was actually listed that was on another occasion. Many more incidents since the departure of Tim kennel. They appear to me to be dishonest kind a like Sears was 30 years ago when they got caught put in oil on peoples shock is over so they could have some work. read more

I dropped my car off around 9am and they called me at about 1:30pm telling me what my options were and that it would take them about a half hour to finish it up. I feel like they explained everything clearly and let me know what I should do immediately and might need to do later on. This experience was good, but this morning I called about a weird noise my car was making. They told me to bring it by and someone would look at it. Sure enough as soon as I brought it by someone was able to help me. Ivor immediately knew what was wrong and helped me out. So thankful that he was able to help me so quickly. I had been going here for about 4 years and the prices slowly creeped up higher and higher. The last time I went was because my wife's car wouldn't start. They originally said that the cable connectors to the battery needed to be replaced due to corrosion and that was $75. I said ok because if that was all that was wrong with it, fine. Then they told me that the alternator was bad and that would be $625 to replace it. I checked around and it was about $100 too high but whatever, I needed the truck fixed that day. We request an oil change and said i'd pick it up later. (Its a mazda tribute and due to the crummy location of the alternator $500 seems to be the average) The bill ended up being over $900 !!!. the $75 to screw on two, $5 cable connectors, $60! for the oil change which is outrageous, $90 to test the alternator and $625 for the altenator. There was another charge that I can't remember at the moment. Most places will throw out the fee to test your altenator if they replace it. To top it off they blew out 3-4 fuses replacing it all and when I took it back to them before knowing about the fuses, they said I'd have to take it to the dealership for a $200 fix. They knew we were in a bind and really and truly did a number on us. I left raging mad and will never ever go back there again. read more

This was my worst auto shop experience, for me, ever. Went for a state inspection. After looking it over they wanted nearly two thousand dollars to repair the car for most faults and one that they couldn't cost until they had diagnosed it, diagnoses would be another few hundred. I took it to another local garage. Had it reinspected, they diagnosed the "extra problem" as being a part of one of the other repairs, the second garage also fitted a new exhaust (at a quarter of the cost of these guys). Ended up costing me about $500 including state inspection for all repairs, exhaust and state inspection at the other garage. In short, these guys were in my opinion, overpriced (4x more than it actually cost me in the end) and unhelpful. read more

Firestone performs my state inspections, oil changes, general repairs and tire replacements. While maintaining my cars well, I've never felt the pressure to perform a repair that I felt was not required or can be put off for a bit. They provide me the options, and I ,make the decisions. I will NEVER take my vehicles to this service center again! And the only reason I gave them a "1" is because that is the lowest that it would allow. I took my car in to have a water pump replaced on Thurs, Sept 17 at 11am. They told me that it would be ready by 5pm. I got back up there at 5:30pm after missing a day of work and was told the car should be ready any minute. They asked me to pay $677.00 and then told me the car will be right out. So I waited along with a friend. And waited. And waited. Every time I asked, I was told it will be ready in a few minutes. At 6:50, I told the service rep that I know they close at 7pm and I needed to go. He went back in the service area and came back, sat down, and informed me that when they took off my timing chain to replace my water pump, THEY broke the tensor. I asked how long ago did that happen. He told me sometime that afternoon. So I asked why did he have me sit there that long before telling me and for that matter, why didn't they call me so I could have cancelled my ride in there. He said he was sorry but the part was ordered and it should be there first thing in the morning and that the car will be ready by 11am. I took a deep breath and said okay and asked for someone to call me mid-morning and let me know that all was going well. I had to arrange to get someone to take me to work and then pick me up. All I could do was get someone to take me to work 3 hours before I got there and pick me up an hour after I got off. So I called the service center at 11:30am. I was then informed that the part had not arrived yet and that they would call me as soon as it came in. I called back at 2:30 and they said the part was there and that they were installing it. I called again, since they didn't call me, at 4:30. They said the car was ready to be picked up. Again I asked why I wasn't called. They said they thought they had. I asked that if they had, why was I calling. No response. I said I would be there as soon as I could. When I got there about 6pm, the service rep just put my key on the counter and said here you go and walked away. I went to my car, started it, put it in gear, gave it gas and started to move. I had not gone more then two feet and there was a loud grinding noise. I IMMEDIATELY took the car back and asked them what did they do to my car. At first the mechanic said that he had drove it around for a few minutes and didn't hear that sound and that I must be mistaken. I told him to go and drive it again, He asked me to pop the hood and when he looked and revved the engine, there was that grinding sound again. So he said it was a quick fix and took the car back to the bay. Again I waited with my ride. And waited. And waited. About 7:15 I was informed that they had to keep it over night and order ANOTHER part. That the tensor that they put on was too large and was causing that sound. They said they would go to the dealer and get the part and the car would be Ready in the morning. Again, another deep breath and I got a ride home. Sat, Sept 19, I called at 11:30 again and asked about my car. Again I was told the part was not there. I said I would call back but I was not happy. They said they would call me in thirty minutes. I called them at 2:30 when I didn't hear from them. I was told that the part wasn't there and that they would have to keep it another day. I told them that was unacceptable and that they needed to compensate me for their breaking my car and leaving me stranded. He asked me what did I want them to do. I said I need a rental car. I had an event to be at by 6pm. He said he would call me right back. And he did!! I was stunned. This was the first time that anyone from this center had actually followed through! He informed me that the rental place was closed. But he then told me that the part had miraculously shown up and that they were putting it in my car as we spoke. I told him I would be there and pick my car up at 4pm. I got to the service center at 3:15. And waited, and waited and waited. About 4:30, I asked him what was the hold up. He went back to check and then informed me that there was a little snag. I was so angry that I told him that it was a lot of bs, that they have wasted my time and money, that they are not men of their words and have no honor. They I have been the one trying to get information out of them and they have me sit there and waste my time. He told me that they would have the car finished by 7 even if they had to work after they closed. I told him that you close at 6! He said they would work on it. I informed him that I had to go because I was already going to be late as it was. I also told him to make sure that my car was ready for me to drive off of their property at 9am. I stormed out. I got a call at 6:10 stating that the car was ready for pick up. I told him that I said that I will be in at 9am. I got my car on Sun, Sept 20. NEVER AGAIN! read more

WOW! the mechanics at firestone killed my baby! the first time i took my car here, it was for engine work and they had to also change the oil. I dont know how it happened, but they forgot to tighten one of the gaskets on the engine completely. The night I got it back, sure enough, my engine started clicking away and died on the side of the highway. They paid for a new engine to be put in, but took their time with it and didnt get started with the job until the car had been sitting there for 2 weeks. That was last april, and since then, I have moved to Texas. My mother just informed me that the car has completely died because the engine was not built into the car correctly this time. If you want your car to work, do not take it here! read more
