I've been coming here for six years. Had told them my car started but barely it took a while to start (relatively new car) said everything's fine and dandy... it wasn't fine my battery was shot and needed a new one. Also got a state inspection which the technician actually ripped a piece of my CERAMIC tint off. I didn't give permission to do so, nor the ability to render it useless. They also use to clean your car and give you a wet wipe, in 2025 they just lie up charge and do the bare minimum. I will not be back. I can understand asking for permission or telling you at the shop but nobody said anything to me but my cars waiting outside with the rejected sticker. The manager even didn't care to find the original receipt I had to tell him twice the invoice number just to see my visit. He said the last time I came was 2024. This is crazy... read more

I expect that for most people and most scenarios, they do a good job. I called And was told my vehicle would take conventional or synthetic oil (knew it was only synthetic) but they texted me a discount $19 off coupon so ok cool. $50 for conventional $100 for synthetic. Came in and of course it needs synthetic but I thought I would try and save some money and purchased a Groupon for $80 instead of the $100 price, however my mistake I didn't show them my Groupon until after they got started. Plus, the oil change I selected was apparently the step up ($29 more) than my purchased Groupon. Took them longer since Groupon requires tire rotation which I really didn't need. They also found I needed a new air filter for $30. After spending $80 for the groupon it also cost $50 or so more. In the end, my only note for you is to think before using a Groupon and make sure to inform them before figuring out what service you get! Oh well. read more

They were great to me for my basic service. While I was waiting I did watch one of the employees handle an issue a very upset customer had with UHaul. The employee took their own time to contact uHaul and get the issue settled and the customer a refund even though this had nothing to do with Greasy Monkeys service. I have never been to grease monkey before and will not be back. I needed a simple synthetic oil change and received a $25 off coupon in the mail. I made an appointment in advance to be seen and showed up ten minutes early. At first, the front desk lady seemed eager to help and was nice. I was then told the wait would be an hour because oil changes are "first come, first serve" even though I made an appointment. Apparently there were ten people in front of me who needed to be seen first, but, did they make an appointment? Or what is the point of making appointments if you end up waiting an hour? They did end up saying they would "push it through at 2:45" as if they were doing me a favor? Also, I've never paid over $130 for an oil change before! You get what you pay for sure, but, I am not paying for sub par customer service! read more

I went in for a state inspection and to get a tire checked that was loosing air. The guys were friendly, honest, efficient, and helpful. They found the screw, patched it, and got the inspection done quickly. The guy even aired up all my tires and checked em since my TPMS warning had come on. Great value too. With coupon, got out of there for less than $25. They didn't try to sell me on a bunch of services I didn't need which is key to car service repair places. The employees don't wear masks but ask the customers to wear masks. That doesn't make sense. I understand if they are working on the car, but in the lobby they could wear masks or when approaching a customer. Anyways, I took my Audi for an oil change and I went home. 2 days later my car is saying I'm dangerously low on oil. I look under the car and see I have been leaking oil because they didn't secure something in right. I called for them to fix and they did. I'm glad they did because what a head ache that would have been. Also, they couldn't reset service light for the oil change. So my husband has to do it for me. Took my husband's car for an oil change and everything was fine. But two or three hours later we were on a trip to NC and the car was making noises. When we got home he took it back and they couldn't find any issues, but fixed one or two other things for $180. The next day he went back because the noise was still happening. The associate went for a ride with him so he could explain what was happening and they still weren't able to fix it even though the noise didn't occur until after we took it in the first time. Man I was pleased with the oil change that they performed for me recently,but I want be taking my vehicle there again after they quoted me about $730.00 this past Saturday to do a 45 minute job just to install new sparkplugs and coils in cylindres 2&6 in my 2008 first F150 truck. When the young man showed me the estimated cost to do that job the labor alone was going to be about $321.00 to do the repair job which would have taken then maybe 40-45 minutes to complete the job! Then they were going to charge me $400.00 for two cylinder coils ( I can buy them at Napa for $51.00/a piece) and two sparkplugs ( I can but each one at Napa for about $5.00/per plug). So needless to say I want be ever taking my truck back there again! read more

I took my vehicle in to get the grease fittings underneath lubed. They dumped my expensive synthetic oil and replaced it with conventional oil. When I asked why they changed my oil, they said, "an oil change is part of a lube job". Well I certainly didn't see it that way. They said if I paid for the synthetic, they would change it back, and still had to charge me for the first oil change. Haven't been back since. read more

I pulled in for an inspection. They took my keys as per usual and I went to sit in their waiting room. 90min later and they still hadn't even moved my car from the parking lot. Spoke to the manager, he explained it was going to be at least another hour because they only had 1 inspector on site and he was working on a repair (seems to me like the inspector should be reserved for inspections...). I told them that I'd come back in the morning and asked for my keys. Turns out they left my keys in the ignition with the window down THE ENTIRE TIME! My battery could've died. I went to the courthouse road location on 8/30/18 and it was one of the best if not the greatest customer service I've ever experienced. Pulling into the parking lot a team member met me at my car prepared to help me with whatever service I needed at that moment followed by taking my keys and paperwork before even stepping in the waiting room door! SO IMPRESSED and hadn't been there but two minutes!!! The team got to work on my full service oil change and tire patch immediately!! And during the process the team member who greeted me would come in and show me what they were doing answered any questions I didn't even think to ask and all in all just did an amazing job!! Wanted to try one closer to me next time but honestly this service was so good here I think it's worth the drive! Oh and I was there ALL Alf 30 mins!! So I do not write reviews very often. However, I took my car here on Thursday to have the tire plugged. I was going out of town later that day so my boyfriend drove and we left to do some last minute errands. They said they would call and let us know when it was ready. Well after an hour or so(seeing as it was just a tire plug and they quoted us 30 minutes we assumed enough time had passed) we go check on it. The guy inside said that the tire was not fixable due to the sidewall so they charged me to put the spare on it.... I can change a tire on my own but yet they charged me to change the tire. I expected at least a phone call saying any of this. Never received one. It was also incredibly unsafe to force me to go on the road with essentially no spare tire.... pretty disappointing looks like all they want is your money and they're gonna squeeze it out of you somehow. read more

First off they are very quick and get the job done in a timely manner, second while waiting for my car I noticed the staff here going above and beyond for the customers. I recently relocated to the Richmond metro area from the Hampton Roads area. This place was he drop off location of my one way rental thru Uhual. I ordered a 15ft truck and car trailer to haul my car on the back, and I had two days to do it before having to return the equipment or be charged additional days. As a woman, I'm not used to driving big trucks and definitely not used to hauling a car while driving a big truck. So, my main priority once I drove from the Hampton Roads area to this location was to quickly get this trailer off this truck before I backed into something or crashed the car trying to maneuver both into a apartment community with narrow streets and a gate. When my daughter and I arrived, it was about 11:30pm. Of course the place was closed but I still wanted to offload that trailer. It took use 2 hours to figure out how to get that car off the trailer and unhook the trailer from the truck. The instructions that Uhual gives you and their videos didn't help us. Anyway, I ended up figuring out that I wasn't giving the car enough acceleration to get over the hump (partly because I was in fear of flying off the trailer in reverse and screwing up my car or someone's property). Anyhow, we get the car off, and I find a perfect spot to back the trailer into and release it. I called Uhual c/s line to let them know I'm trying to leave the trailer only. They didn't recommend user the quick return feature on their website or app since it would assume I'm also returning the truck. So she recommended I call Grease Monkey first thing to explain and see what they say. First thing in the morning, I called Grease Monkey. I forget the gentleman's name but he wassssss soooo helpful! Omg super polite, and reassuring. He went out of his way to figure out how to split the order to return partial equipment. Moving is super stressful, especially when you don't have much help, so when he took care of my issue without making me jump thru hoops, I was beyond pleased. When it was time for me to return the truck 2 days later, they also did a great job. They new guy didn't hassle me about the order split because the original guy put good notes in their system to explain the situation. The guy even gave me a business card to a taxi service because now my daughter and I needed a way to get back to our apartment after dropping off the truck. Now granted, the taxi service took forever and I just eventually used Uber, BUT it doesn't change the fact that this guy provided exceptional customer service. I'd like to add that while I was waiting on the taxi and then uber, I observed how this guy communicated and worked with customers coming into for car maintenance and repairs. If I wasn't so used to taking my car to the dealer for service, I'd definitely use them. I just got the impression this place and its employees are standup people who won't scam you out of your money for things you don't need for your car or something. If I could give zero stars I would!!!!!! Ive been to this location several times and each time have found something wrong with their service. The first time they didn't tighten the oil filter so I had a huge oil spill on my driveway. I went back the other day and they were busy. They forgot to put air in my tires even after I specifically asked to have it done. Then when I leave my engine light came on not 500 ft from their establishment. Strange coincidence I think. They told me they could fix an emission control sensor for $245.00. I went to NAPA and the part only costs $42.00. Odd? Very! I will NEVER go back. Beware! read more

Had some free time this afternoon. Figured there wouldn't be any way of getting a inspection but I was close to grease monkey so I just thought I would ask. When I pulled up I could see there where very busy and as turned to my left I see a young man named Zack rushing to greet me. Zack informed since they where so busy the inspection would be an hour and a half. That didnt sound to bad since it was late in the afternoon I decided to stay. When I came inside Nick greeted me at the countor and gathered all my information with up most professionalism. As I sat down 10 min hadn't gone by yet when I looked out and seen a man Im told his name is Chris hustling to my car. With in no time it was in the shop on the lift and before I knew it nick was calling up to the countor because my car was finished. I was in in out in an hour. I had just fixed a couple things on my transmission that totaled about $1,200 and I had to get my car registered next... I went to a grease monkey and After the inspection, they told me there were things wrong with my car.... the rack and pinion was "leaking" the fog light was out, they needed to do a power steering flush, and a bolt on my battery was missing. All of this would be nearly $1,000. my car had less than 90,000 miles and had barely been driven that whole year... there was no way I was gonna pay that much without a 2nd opinion. The next place I went to was a highly recommended shop and the ONLY thing wrong with my car was a POWER STEERING HOSE!!!! The fog light was NOT out, the battery bolt was NOT Missing, and a power steering flush was UNNECESSARY. Needless to say, I felt extremely angry that people were so dishonest and almost let me spend MY hard earned money on things that Did not need to be fixed. Shame on you. I will not be going back to grease monkey and will tell everyone I know about my bad experience. read more
