I had an appointment for 4:30pm for an installation of two tires. I arrived at 4pm hoping I could get in and out. My car was not even started until 6:55pm. And there was nobody else there. Maybe one or two people the whole time I was there. They installed them 45 minutes after closing by just replacing my back tires. My car is a forward drive they should have moved them up to the front but nah they just replaced them. Honestly I will never go back there and I now have to take my car to Amaricas tire to complete the job they should have done yesterday. Worst place ever! read more

I had a rental car from enterprise that said it was due for an oil change. Upon calling enterprise they shared that they had a contract with pep boys. I called this location and expressed to them that I would like to bring my rental in for an oil change. The employee shared that they would need an approval from enterprise but it should take about 40-45 minutes to complete the service. I arrived around 1:15PM where I was again quoted a 45 minute timeline. The vehicle was not taken back until 2:45PM and once taken back it took about 1 hour to fix leaving me in the body shop until 3:50PM. Based on previous experiences from other body shops, a process of an oil change should not take 2.5 hours. I was concerned with their quality of work as they had taken so long to complete the car. Honestly will never go back to this PEP BOYS. Went for an oil change and the tech Jesse put too much oil. The next day my emergency light popped up on my car. I had to go back on a Sunday. While waiting in line I heard a customer talking to the tech telling him he wanted his service done but if the guy that always helps him was not there then he would wait because the guy doesn't charge him for labor. The tech looked up the past records and said yeah it looks like your not charged for service let me call him and see what going on. Very untrustworthy business going on at this location when some people are charged very high for brake replacement as I was quoted but others get free labor! Another customer was upset they had been waiting for 2 hours. Honestly done with pep boys as now my coolant is empty in less than a month when I was not notified during my oil change that the levels were low. read more

We arrived around 8:15am for our 8:30am appointment for a simple tire rotation. They came out right away and checked our vehicle then told us 45 minutes. Perfect timing, so we went inside and waited. At 9:15am, my husband went to check on the status of the car and they hadn't even taken the car into the bay! We were sitting for 45 minutes like they quoted without the car even being taken in. We got no update by any worker there stating they were running behind or anything. We will never go to Pep Boys again. They obviously don't care about your time. If they would've told us it would be longer than 45, we could've decided if we could wait that long or not but they decided for us that we will wait as long as needed and that's not right. Poor, poor service and definitely lost a customer. Better to go to small tire shops in Ontario instead. Boo on Pep Boys. read more

Please, whatever you do, do not go to the Pep Boys located at 2415 S Vineyard Ave in Ontario, CA. My wife previously took her car there because of a flat tire; the salesperson claimed the tire couldn't be repaired and insisted she buy a new one, charging nearly $400 for just that single tire. The problem is, that recently purchased tire went flat again today. We went to the shop to explain the situation and pointed out that the tire was only a month old. However, after looking at the receipt, a salesperson named Jorge insisted that an appointment was required for repairs. even no though the shop wasn't busy at all and there wasn't a single customer around. It left me wondering: did they want me to leave the car overnight before they'd fix it? Or were they giving me a hard time because I'm not American? Jorge's attitude was terrible. Other tire shop took only 10 minutes to completed the work. Appointment for a tire repair; that means without one--even for a quick 10-minute job or an emergency--we're stuck waiting a day or two. No wonder business are not like others places and a lot of unreasonable charges too. Price way to much than others shop. I strongly advise against going to this shop for any service. read more

Worst service ever. Don't expect your car right away. I was told a "couple hours" drove by past two hoots and my car was still in the same spot. It wasn't ready until near closing time. This is my second time taking in our car for service. The first was for our tires as all 4 needed replacing and then just recently we had to change the rear break pads. It was easy to get to someone via the phone and they were able to give an estimate as well. I spoke to Ignacio and he was very professional and honest. The value for the quality work here is great! They were quick to check us in on the day of our appointment and during the whole process, they gave us updates and even when there's some other issue that they found, they quickly communicated to us and we were able to get everything done in half a day. The level of incompetence at this location is mind blowing. I made an appointment to have the check engine light investigated on my car and was told to come in as early in the morning as possible. So I make an appointment for 8:30 and bring my car in. The person at the desk, who I later find out is the assistant manager, has no idea what they are doing. I told them on the phone that I would like to do an oil change at the same time and was wondering about the reusable air filter that they previously installed. George said they don't recommend them because they can damage your engine. Well that's great because they are the ones that installed it last time. He said they don't do that and I said you need to look up the work order then. He looked it up and clearly saw that I was correct and then my question was blown off. I'm told that they will contact me in two hours to let me know what the engine codes are and how much it will be to fix them so I pay $15 for a Lyft and head home. 11 o'clock rolls by and nothing. 12 o'clock rolls by and nothing. At 12:30 I called and I'm told that Oscar is at lunch and he will call me back. I get a call back at 1:40 (not by Oscar) telling me that the only tech that can apparently pull the codes on my car called in sick that day at noon. Why am I just hearing about it at 1:40? Why was I told to come in at 9 o'clock then if they got there at noon? So I said "Great I had to pay for a Lyft to take me home from this location and now I'm going to have to pay for another Lyft to bring me back just to pick up a car that had zero work done. Once I arrive, Oscar is on the phone so I wait for him. When he hangs up, I ask for the manager. He says he's the manager. I ask in disbelief, "YOU are the manager?" He says he's the assistant manager. I say "I need to talk to the actual manager because you have no idea what you are doing." He says he's not there. I say I need his phone number. He says he can't give it out. I say "OK, I need the number of your district manager" then he says he can't give itout. I asked for the phone number of his regional manager. He says he can't give it out. So now I am down $30 for the 2 Lyfts, an hour out of my workday gone, and zero work done on my car AND zero F's given about wasting my time. I've now contacted corporate and I'm waiting for their reply. Whatever you do, do not come to this location they have no idea what they are doing and have zero interest in actually helping you. I ran over a nail and my tire pressure light went on. My tire was in good condition with about 20k miles left. But I knew I needed a new tire, which meant 4 brand new tires. Luckily Pep Boys serviced me the next day. Made an appointment Thursday night and they served me on Friday. I made an appointment for 4 new tires installation and an alignment. On top of that, they called me the morning of, to confirm my appointment which was cool. Honestly they have competitive prices when it comes to new tires, service and alignment. The full package is a good deal. I shopped around and did my research, but found the best deal here. Juan was really nice and helpful. Overall service was a solid 10/10! I came to get my battery checked and they told me my battery was bad and needed to be replaced immediately. They then told me it was $300 so I decided to wait to do price checking on my own. I later went to Autozone to charge my battery for free and they told me my battery was at 100%, the issue was corrosion so it just needed to be cleaned. I should also mention that Autozone checked my battery in front of me, while at Pep Boys I wasn't given any detailed information on the state of my battery, just that it was "bad." I used to come to Pep Boys often for all my oil changes and regular maintenance, but if they are willing to attempt to scam me, then I won't be coming in any longer. read more

Doesn't know how to assist customer to check out customer's purchase using their own computer system. Waste my time going in that place. It took one hour and a half and did not figure out anything. I'm only buying a freaking car battery. FYI, they don't give anymore free battery warranty. You have to buy the car battery for $22 plus tax. Another rip off. Tried to get rotors resurfaced there on July 4th. Waited 10 minutes for someone to help me and another customer in the empty lobby. Once an authorized Pep Boys service employee finally showed up, he told me Pep Boys couldn't do it because it was metal on metal--a very odd statement because usually that is the main reason why it needs to be resurfaced. I ended up going to Mountain View Tires who gladly did the job without any complaint. Pep Boys WAS a great American Brand. Sadly, it no longer is. Dropped off my car to get my tire fixed bc I had leak d/t a nail. 5 hours later they told me they couldn't patch it because it was too close to the edge/side wall and that I they would need replace the tire but that "I might as well replace all 4 tires because I'd get a better deal". I had snapped this pic of the damaged tire before bringing it in and I knew it was NOT close to the edge/side wall like I was told. I said I wasn't interested and to just put on my spare on instead. Update; I had a new battery installed at Pep Boys and they created a nightmare for me. Apparently, they didn't tighten it and it left me stranded twice. Once in the middle of a busy street. Of course I didn't think it was because of my battery because I had just installed a brand new one! Little did I know that these guys didn't tighten it! The fireman that moved my car out of the middle of the intersection did! Since it wasn't tightened and my car is new it kept throwing off the electrical system and new codes kept appearing each day. A serious nightmare. I had to get it towed to the dealer. Paid for that. Plus $165 diagnostic fee. This is a cautionary tale. Don't assume the people who work at Pep boys are mechanics. They are sooo friendly and a pleasure to talk to here and always make time to try and squeeze me in no matter what. I've had nails patched, gotten new tires, all my oil changes and today I called in on my way home from work asking if they could get me in to check and potentially replace my battery. My car was struggling to start and I prayed it'd just be battery and not the starter or something bigger. They made time to check it right away and get the new battery going! Oscar is always there to help and is such a pleasure to chat with and always takes amazing care of me as if I were a friend. I scheduled an oil change the night before, for 10am this morning, dropped.off my car on time, and then followed the tracker pep boys send out online for service. The original pickup time was for 12:30pm, already that's a long time to wait for an oil change, so I checked in again at noon and my car hadn't even been started on. I called, and got a brush off from the person on the phone saying they don't know how long any one car's service is going to take... So WHY is there an online tracker? And if you were busy, why was nothing communicated to me? Now the service completion time says 1:30, I called back and the attendant hung up on me. Rude, slow service, and no communication. First off, I booked an appointment same day online and a few mins later, I get a call saying that they are full in the shop but can set me up with an appointment another day. Fine, I schedule for the following Thursday. I arrive to my appointment and there's two people in line while the front desk guy was on the phone with a customer and thought it was a great time to have us wait while he checks for a list of items in the "back of the store." 10 mins later he returns to tell him they have the items and hangs up. He wraps up with the current customer and just stands there. The lady in front of me was chatting with another employee and so I went up and told him politely I just needed to drop off my keys as it was 25 mins past my appointment time. He rudely brushed me off and said he needs to wait to help the lady who was in front of me, who was in no rush and just having a casual conversation with another employee... Whatever, I wait another 10 mins for them to finish their convo and him to ring her up so he can finally assist me. I finally give him the keys and he tells me he will call me soon after doing brake check to see what's going on. I wait for an hour and 45 mins nearby at a restaurant and they finally call...to tel me he LOST my paperwork and doesn't remember what I needed to have done. He also tells me the technician is at lunch and hasn't looked at my car but will in 10 mins. Since I was close by, I came by a few mins later and my car had not moved from where I left it now two hours prior. I go inside and wait another few mins while he is slowly inspecting another car and doesn't even bother to come in and check on me until he's finished (another few mins.) I politely just ask for my keys to my car so I can take my business elsewhere. I've never felt so disrespected and like my time and business was not valued in the slightest. Mind you, there were plenty of empty spaces in the shop and the parking lot was nearly empty. I have been to this location twice and the level of service was unsatisfactory both visits. My first visit was for a slow leak from the rear left tire. They broke the hub cap but did not apologize or even mention it when I picked up the vehicle. Today, another tire repair message, left rear tire... The service writer, Oscar, explained that they found a nail close to the side wall of the tire, which was unrepairable. So, they put a new tire on the left front? I drove about 15 miles and the low tire message was on again. The tire I asked to be checked, repaired, or replaced was flat! I drove the vehicle in and the tire was not flat. Now, need a tow. I brought my rental to Pep Boys to change a tire. By the way, I had no idea that Pep Boys and American Tires have a contract to repair tires at no cost to the customer. Please speak with your local branch for details. I spoke with a rep and he informed me that authorization is sent electronically and needed to be approved electronically. Understood and he mentioned that although it's a wait for the customer, he is at the shop until 7pm. These are moments you have to read the room and determine if certain comments are appropriate. I called the enterprise branch and submitted an internal email regarding the authorization. I don't think it's reasonable to sit and wait for a response, especially if it's been more than an hour for a minor repair because a store rep's shift doesn't end until 7pm. I have been at dealerships for repairs and observed them make phone calls to the necessary departments to help get the work done in a timely manner. read more

Not recommended for tire service except you know for sure your tire just has a nail in it and it's just simply a plug and patch. Took my car here recently for low tire pressure (lost ~10 PSI overnight) and they called me and told me I had a run flat. I know NOTHING about cars and tires so he told me they don't carry the parts and they would come in the next day and price would be $400 for the tire and $60 for service. I did a quick Dr. Google search and found out run flats are complicated fixes. Decided against it and thought, why not go to Costco Tire Service. Told them what I was told at Pep Boys and was told they would try and repair it. $14 patch and fix with a 2 hour wait, totally worth over Pep Boys... Not sure what Pep Boys was trying to do with me, but pretty sketch if you have to ask me. Just fyi, I only had 10k miles on my tires and they are $400 tires; I dont do any crazy racing or driving in rough terrain either. read more

Went today to get my car's battery checked, tire rotation and alignment and the receptionist George told me it's gonna take 2 hours so I went to the gym and I came back after 4 hours and they still haven't worked on my car and when I told them I need my car back because I have to go to work they went and only checked the battery and then George came back and said we checked the battery and did the tire rotation but you will have to come in another day to do the alignment and I said that's fine let me get my car, so they charged me for the battery inspection and the tire rotation so went I went to the car I found out that they haven't even done the rotation so I went back and told them he simple replied "we are backed up" really? Is that a reason for charging someone a service you haven't even done? The people in this shop are deceitful and unprofessional and will never go there again read more

Came in yesterday after calling and being told to come on down and they would take care of replacing a stud and lug nut that was damaged the last time I came in for a tire rotation. I found out it was damaged when my tire shopped tried taking off my tire and noticed it was damaged and notified me immediately that whoever previously worked on my car damaged the stud. I just did a service at pep-boys that included a tire rotation so that's why I called them right then and there and I head on over because they close at 7 and they told me come on down we can fix it right now.I get there at 520pm which was 10 minutes after I called and they say they can't do it cause they don't have time but to come in the following day on an appointment and they will handle it. Let it be noted that I came in I spoke to the manger who already had said to not worry they would take care of the problem since he didn't want to go back and forth with who damaged it. Day two, I come in to my scheduled appointment and after waiting an hour the service guy calls me to says that he called the manger, Oscar and that he said they could fix it but will have to charge me over $400 to fix if I didn't want to pay I could take my keys and leave since I got my tires rotated elsewhere, which I did not. I explained to him that yesterday he told me come in today and not to worry about it he would take care of it and now he's not here and saying something different after having me wait an hour. It's ridiculous that he would make an appointment for me on his day off to have one of his employees tell me something differently than yesterday and not take responsibility. I will never bring my vehicle to pep-boys ever again! I felt very unvalued and customer satisfaction was definitely not a factor here. Let it also be known I went to a brake alignment shop right after and they fixed this $400 job for less than $100. read more

The technician removed all the freon.. he told me that's what he needed to do.. ridiculous. Proceed to tell me it pin popped out of the air compressor..and it need a whole now compressor.
