Wanted to get my break pads replaced, had an appointment at 10am. I showed up at 945, was told that they had my pads in stock. When I pulled in I saw all their bays were full and figured I would have to wait some. I was told it would be a couple of hours and i was fine with that. While waiting I saw them do at least two other peoples vehicles that came in after me and got them out. After three hours I look out front see four bays are open now but my car is still sitting in the parking space waiting. Went back in to get my keys, heard either a mechanic or a manager on the phone with another customer telling them "it would be about an hour and a half before I can get your car in if you come in today." Yet I've been there for 3 hours already. Told him to get my keys and that the service was rediculase. read more

Horrible customer service this guy at front desk Mike i spoke to him on the phone before going in and i asked if they charge to check on the ac on my car and he told me they dont then i go in the store and they tell me i have to pay $60 for a diagnostics they say they dont charge for a quote but they charge for a diagnostics i told him next time to just let the person know that they charge for diagnostics and not make them drive to the store and waste there time he started talking back saying i need to work on my english i told them they need to work on there customer service i was standing for about 7 minutes when i came in they seen me and never acknowledge me i would not reccomend this place!!!! read more

Went to get a check on an oil leak and was charged $44. They came back and said I had a broken Oil pan. The cost would be between $1300-1400+. I was told if the cost was too much I could apply for instore credit. I said I needed to think about it. I called my brother who told me to see his guy. He checked and saw that my drain plug was cracked. So I got a new one at the dealership $15. I gave this guy $40 for putting it on. The leak continued. Took back to my brother's guy and he checked and saw that the oil filter was leaking. I got a new one $14+ change. He put it on and didn't want to take any money. I gave him $20. No more leaking. Total cost a little more than $100 to fix it. Pep Boys never said a thing about putting in a new drain plug or anything about the filter. I'm so disappointed. I've gone to them before, but never again. Don't try to do this to a customer. Do better. read more

I haven't been to this Pep Boys in many years so was a bit taken aback when I walked inside and saw that it had changed quite a bit and I had no idea where to go to find what I was looking for. I was greeted immediately by two gentlemen. One, the sales manager, Joshua, went above and beyond to assist me. I had already "researched" and knew that there were companies that manufactured windshield wiper blades to fit my car. He looked it up on the computer and located them on the display for me. When we walked to my car to install them, that is when my trouble started. Turns out, my 5 year old car still had the original blades and one had broken. Then, we discovered that just because manufacturers say that blades will fit your car doesn't mean they will. (Surprise!) Joshua tried a couple of different brands and styles before giving up. (We realized I had to go to a dealership.) But he didn't let me leave before temporarily fixing my broken wiper blade with electrical tape to prevent it from flying off and scratching my windshield. The entire time he was pleasant, polite and very professional. As a bonus - he also showed me the trick to replacing my front and rear wipers easily and without breaking them, which came in handy since the dealership had a policy of non-assistance. Thanks to him, I was able to replace mine on my own within minutes with little fuss and almost no swearing. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for this particular Pep Boys and I'm glad they still hire great, honest workers. read more

Paid 80 dollars for an A/C inspection. 80 dollars later they said there is nothing wrong with my car. One card swipe later and here I am on the highway with my air conditioner blowing hot air in my face in 100 degree weather. They are overbooked and under staffed. Mechanic seemed very nice but I had to leave without service after waiting an hour past my reservation for a basic oil change. I gave them three stars as sort of a neutral score. Staff is short these times, as is just about everything else, but my advice would be to throttle back reservations if you are not able to complete the work in a timely manner. Having customers wait a long time even when they made a reservation is not in the stores best interest. read more

Went to Pep Boys on Lane Ave. In Jacksonville FL wanting a battery for my 2018 Chevy. They said battery would be $330.97, labor, $119.51, shop supplies & incidentals $68.55. Total $518.13. I just wanted a battery. I called AutoZone they had battery same 3 yr warranty for $271. Since Pep Boys already had battery out so let them finish. They said AutoZone would charge more labor. Spoke with Chuck at the service counter, and just wanted to beat seal on a wheel that I knew just needed bead seal because it was leaking out of the tire bead, Chuck refused and said that I needed a new tire, even though I was a former Pep Boys employee I knew and was trained not to try to screw people over for a quick buck, not the Pep Boys Way at all, I've done bead seal for other people in the past that needed it and certainly wouldn't try to sell them a tire they didn't need, I got this done at a different pep boys, thank you Chuck! read more

I couldn't disagree with the previous reviewer more who gave them one star for poor customer service. We had a tire blow one evening on 295 and we were heading down to Orlando the very next morning. We had to get a new tire asap and every other place in town was already closed. I called this Pep Boys 20 minutes before they closed while my husband was putting the spare on, explained what happened, and they said they'd wait for us to get there. We did manage to walk in the door about 5 minutes before closing, but they were more than willing to help us and didn't seem to mind at all that we were going to be keeping them late. I really wish I could remember their names! The guy who helped us inside was super nice and friendly as was the guy who took our car into the shop to put the new tire on. We had a soda and chatted it up with the guy inside while our car was being worked on and he was just the greatest. We apologized profusely for keeping them late and he was truly genuine when he said it was no problem at all. Thanks so much for being there for us when we needed you! I really no was stars were an option. I went to them many times before this and its seemed ok. This last time was terrible. I let them do a diagnostic test. I got fixed everything they reccomended and my car still drives the same. Then in the process of fixing the reccomended maintenance, they damaged my motor. Then didn't even tell us until after they "fixed for free". I keep trying to take my car nack there and keep getting the runaround. I would not recommend this place of business. Their customer service and professionalism is very low. The price you pay for sub par service is ridiculous. If it was myself looking at reviews to choose where to go to get car services I would like to know this information. One example is setting an appointment a few days in advance and when you go to drop your car off they tell you that your appointment is canceled due to not having any employees to do so. This was before The pandemic. Even now they still aren't any better. I suspect a part of my car was stolen from them. They are the only ones that look under my hood and have access to it. I don't know how to do all that but my car stopped working due to a part missing... it's a small part you wouldn't notice missing until you actually look under your hood and have your car checked out to see why it stopped working. I went into this store and immediately noticed the parts store was 100% gone. Nothing but tires where the parts used to be. I asked for an estimate on a fuel pump replacement, just the labor as I already had the fuel pump. The guy told me I bought the wrong pump (which was a lie) and stated the estimate was $500 labor (for a two hour replacement) and $500 for the correct fuel pump that had to be purchased from O'Reilly's. I went to O'Reillys directly and asked about the pump. They said $250 (still way over priced). I will be getting the fuel pump replaced (with my pump) for $260 labor. I can see why Pep Boys is going out of business because they are liars and thieves. read more

Specifically made an appointment for an oil change / tire rotation and to no avail 4 hours later was still in the waiting room with no service nothing was done to the vehicle as was scheduled and was poised to spend $1,700 Plus on some part that wasn't even a disgust matter before going into the shop. Not to mention the management there was about as helpful and polite as an enraged driver and he tried to bamboozle my mother and take advantage of our insurance whose co-payments for vehicle parts and protection through protect my car insurance. Unless you want to be told that your vehicle is a walking car bomb and that there's no other options on the planet but them go there but please find somewhere else to at least have a half a chance at not getting robbed. It was very similar to a pyramid scheme / timeshare sales push. And for the record 6 months later and the vehicle is still running like it had without anything but regular tune up. read more

I ran into some debris on the way home, couldn't figure out a way to pull whatever it was out of my tire and get home safely, so I made my way to Pep Boys with my tire still out of wack but rode the emergency lane all the way there. Went in, talked to the manager Scott, he had a tech Jimmy to go look at my tire, quickly diagnose it, fix and I was out in 15 min, back on the road. Very unprofessional. Employees use customer information for their own private purposes. On January 17, 2018, Lemund, the service person, stole my girlfriend's phone number out of the computer and texted her after we left the store. How am I sure she didn't give it to him you ask, because I was standing next to her the whole time. We would have laughed it off if he would have been brave and creative enough to find out while we were standing there together, but I don't respect cowardly and disrespectful acts like this. I'm sure this isn't the first time he's displayed this type of wanton and disrespectful behavior towards customers and their private information. With the public climate of people abusing their powers, I'm sure an investigation will uncover any other scenarios where private information has been used against company policy. I left my information with the Parts manager because the Service manager, Lemund's supervisor, was off at the time. I'm awaiting her phone call. If this isn't resolved to my satisfaction, we will consider legal action. This is very disturbing, unethical, and illegal behavior by those who we trust with our personal information to conduct daily business. I would recommend finding a different location. read more

Best customer service ever. I've had a bad taste in my mouth before at a different pep boys, but Jason and Josh changed my opinion entirely. My fiancé and I got a flat tire with our two large dogs and we made it to their shop at 5:45, 15 minutes before they were supposed to close and go home and they were kind enough to stay late and help us so we can get home! Taking an Uber with two large dogs would've definitely been a challenge to say the least. We can't thank them enough. read more

A few months ago I took my drums from my jeep to have them measured to see how much they have been worn down. For those of us that know how to measure this, you use a micrometer, due to the fact this is gives you a precise measurement. What did the guy come out with?? A tape measure! REALLY!!! I asked him if that is the way they measure wear and he said yes. Needless to say, I walked out and bought a micrometer later that day and did it myself. Not very impressed. Avis budget rental was located inside of Pep Boys and they tow my car when I rented it from Avis budget Do not rent from Budget anymore. I rented a car for 2 weeks to go to Buffalo to visit my family and my first Grandchild. When I returned the car I find my car was towed. It cost me 453.00 to get my car out and they would not refund me my money for the tow or compensate me. They told me I parked in the wrong area. I called Corporate office and to add insult to injury they offered me 81.00. And after I stated that doesn't even begin to help they offered 173.00 and stated that all they can do. My son and I rent a lot and never experienced this type of poor inconsiderate, customer service in my life. I spoke to the manager , the Territory Supervisor and no one wanted to help... So now I am reaching out to social media and asking to not rent from Avis/Budget Group anymore till they treat their customers better..... Arrived at Pep Boys 8:00 am on 4/8/14 with my serpentine belt off. Took car right in to diagnose. Told me I needed $730 of repairs. It needed a water pump, thermostat a harmonic balancer, tensioner pulley and belt. Being a mechanic for years when I was younger, I started to ask questions. The diagnosis kept changing as the mechanic tried to prove to me all of these problems. Then it completely flipped to the new tensioner pulley put on a couple months ago was froze up. And I should just take it two blocks away to Tires Plus to get it fixed under warranty. WOW! What happened to all the other problems? After stopping for gas on her way back to college, my daughter's car wouldn't start. She had it towed to this Pepboys location and, in spite of our suggesting it might be the starter, they found that the battery was bad, replaced it and got her back on the road. They could have easily tried to cheat a young woman on her own and they didn't. I recommend them for their integrity. read more

Johnathan was extremely rude horrible customer service. I used to go there all the time when Sandra and another dark haired girl that favored her, they were always and happy smiling (can't recall the name Hillary maybe Heather?) were working and always had a great experience. Upon entering I looked for those familiar happy faces and was rudely told no they are not here. I had spoken to Kevin earlier in the week (he's a doll and a delight to converse with) I was looking forward to that same service but after dealing with Mr. Johnathan I no longer believe I will ever step foot in that door again.
