DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP! THE WORST PEP BOYS EVER! I had scheduled an appointment for a tire and oil change on 03/21 to drop off the vehicle at the Everett location at 7am on 03/25, today. The vehicle was dropped off at 6:30am and keys in lockbox. I called in at 2:30pm and the guy told me that it was going to be ready in 1-1:30 hours. My husband went to pick up the truck at 4pm and the truck wasn't even moved from where he dropped it off in the morning! The keys were still in the lockbox! What kind of shop do you guys run? The first thing you do is to check the lockbox and they didn't do that! Needless to say how upset we are and the guys at the shop didn't apologize or anything, they were indifferent and somewhat rude to my husband. I am appalled by the lack of professionalism of this location. We'll never come back to a Pep Boys. read more

Took two days ( five hours) for a front end alignment, during that time I was assaulted by an employee, and I was called a derogatory female slur by the manager, b***h, when I complained. When I called pep boys corporate I was ignored. I will fille a BBB complaint and a possible Simple Assault Charge. The front end alignment did nothing to fix the problem. read more

Should've checked Yelp before we visited this location-the service we received was awful. I was a little confused by this experience because when I called the store initially on Saturday Morning, they were friendly and completed convinced they could repair the nail in my tire and have it back on the car within 30 minutes. However, when my husband when to go get this done, he was told there was "no way in hell, that would happen". So we had to leave the tire at the location while we waited for a phone call to let us know it was ready. We were assured it would be a few hours and they could, once again, "put it on the car no problem". 6 hours go by, no phone call. So we decided to call and check. The man on the phone said yes, its ready, come get it and we will put it on for you. Great. Get to the store, the ONE guy working the counter was working with someone else when we walked in. While waiting, we could hear the mechanics swearing up a storm in the garage. "F--- This, F--- you, etc." We waited 15 minutes for someone to come help. Then, when we asked for them to put the tire on the car (Considering we were called and told someone could do it)- The guy at the counter was almost offended that we wanted them to put it on. He again was like, "oh no way, i only have one tech right now and a ton of cars in there". So we had to leave, without our tire again, and come back on Sunday. Well we called before arriving, to avoid another simliair situation, but of course, after talking to the guy on the phone, he said come in "sooner rather then later". So we rushed over, only to find out it would be HOURS before they could put the tire on. We left with our tire because waiting several hours to get it thrown on is a joke. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE. On Thursday October 11th 2018 I arrived at this store for a 2pm appointment that I made online to have 4 tires mounted and balanced on my pickup truck. When I arrived the service manager was disorganized and arguing with other employees and failed to greet me while I stood in front of him for almost 10 minutes. Statements being made like "What do they want me to do?" "I can't fix this sh*t...." They couldn't find the tires that I had shipped there for 10-15 minutes. I picked up the truck 3 hours later and drove home less than one mile. I noticed a little vibration in the wheel and thought maybe the wheels weren't balanced correctly. I drove to work the next morning around 7am and noticed more vibration. At 7:32am I received a call from Fernando (the technician who did an awful job on my truck) telling me that they forgot to tighten my lug nuts and to please get back to Pep Boys as soon as possible. I pulled over on the side of the road and found my lug nuts were only hand tight and my front left wheel was so loose that it was shaking on my hub. I had to call a tow company and have my vehicle taken to another shop to have this repaired, which cost me $150. When I called Pep Boys them promised a full refund and said they didn't know how it happened. I didn't get my refund, nor will they answer my phone calls today despite being open. Chargeback filed to recover my money but this could easily have been a major accident if my wheel came off. Furthermore the fact that I was contacted THE NEXT DAY shows plain negligence on Pep Boys part as they were obviously aware of the issue a day before and failed to let me know. Don't do it. Don't go there. My husband and I fixed our air conditioning here in June. We had an early morning appointment and it took them two days to fix it, which is unacceptable since it's our only car. After picking up our car, there was a rattling noise, which definitely wasn't there BEFORE we dropped it off. After the sour experience of waiting for days, we decided not to raise a stink and take it back but instead go to our usual guy. The last week in August, our air conditioning breaks again AND the day after, our engine sounds like it's dragging. I suspect that Pep Boys didn't actually fix our a/c to the best of their abilities and in turn, probably compromised the engine in the process. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH, DO NOT GO THERE. AT ALL. Lastly, this is separate from the entire car ordeal, after dropping off the car, while I was waiting at the designated Lyft area, an employee grabbed a bat and went to attack a customer. From what I gather, the customer looked at him weird or said something whatever, but this Pep Boy employee grabbed a bat from his car with the intent to threaten this guy. I should've known the level of professionalism isn't there and I shouldn't have been surprised they couldn't get their act together enough to get our car to us on time AND quite possibly further causing damage. My naive 20 yr old son went into Everett Pep Boys for minor issue before he left they grifted him into $1400. Rip off mech work! I would of warned him to run as fast as he could away from this scummy scam outfit if he had called me first. So he went in on a Saturday at 3:15 and they close at 6 and his car was "ready" at 5:10. So in these times of difficulty getting parts these bums got these very specific parts and we're able to do $1400 job in 1.5 hours? Ya right!!! All I can say to ANYONE stay away from these crooks. I drive a fleet vehicle so the company that manages the vehicle maintenance set up the pep boys appointment for me but if this was my own vehicle ... I would've ran in the other direction. Car was towed to pep boys on Saturday 3/7 at 12 noon, called them Sunday around noon after I haven't had any update... they said the technician "will be looking at the vehicle next" - I called back Sunday at 3pm to check on the status, no update, still hasn't been looked at. Monday I get an update that it just needs a starter, the part will arrive same day so car *could* be done by Monday end of day. I called back now Tuesday at 6pm, to my surprise it will be done "in 10 minutes". I'm here Wednesday morning at 8am to pick up my vehicle, website and signs on the door say they open at 7:30am, not a person in sight. If you value your time, don't waste it here. read more

I arrived on Saturday and was told they were hours behind scheduled and would I please make another appointment. I understand how busy and hard everyone is working so I said no problem and made an appointment for Monday. Arrived on Monday and was told it was double booked because the online system can sometimes double book slots. I was told to make the appointment right there in store. I made the appointment for Wednesday, arrived and was just told they don't even have my air filter in stock. Had a appt at 2:30 last Thursday and was told they will work on it at 3. Fast forward to 5pm and was told that they are short 1 tire and didn't even started the work yet. Could of told me earlier and save myself the wait sitting here. The work should only take 45 mins to 1 hour 30 mins max. I spend my time waiting where I could of got it done somewhere else and saved myself a few hours. The person with appt for 3:30 is done even better me, They didn't start till 5:30. My car came in for service feeling good but after the service car feel worst. When I drive the car feel funny and when drive over 30 the car vibrate and make weird noise. Went there over the course of June and today (July 13). The manager was nice, but I took my car there to check on my AC for the course of 5 times. I was charged $700+ to get a temporary fix. At the end of the whole experience, I was told to bring my car to the dealership. If that was the case, I would've brought my car there in the first place, where I wouldn't have to spend that money for a very short (10minute drive), superficial AC fix. read more

I used to go to this pepboys, you can even see my glowing 5 star review from 2019.. Well sad to say, this pepboys is now NOT the place to be. I make an appt for an oil change and my left front tire has a screw in it- I also ask for them to reset my tire sensors to read correctly for each wheel. I drop it off at 8:30 and speak with the advisor where he confirms "left front, right?" to which I say, correct. Fast forward to 4:00 pm and $600 worth of add-on "recommended repairs" later, I pick up my car. I then get home- can clearly see the screw still in my tire. my sensors are still reading incorrectly- Yet i was charged for a tire repair, a tire rotation, a sensor reset and check. This is very clear that they are charging for repairs they blatantly dont do. I call the next morning and their response? "well my service manager says they patched the passenger side tire" Oh really? they patched the tire that didnt have anything wrong with it nor was leaking air?? I go back to the shop and the stand-in service manager tried man-splaining to me that they "did rotate the tires"-- Listen. its not that difficult to understand that if I dropped off my car with an obvious screw in the front left tire and the next day there is still a screw in my front left tire, clearly the tires weren't rotated! My oil was low after I paid for them to change it. They tell me all my tire treads are "10", yet one of my tires is 2 years newer than my other three (had a blowout with a pothole a few months back). How can all my tires have the exact same tread if this is the case? I ask. No response. Long story short: this pepboys will charge you for repairs they didnt do. they are filling out their "courtesy inspection" sheet without looking at the car. STAY AWAY! read more

I made an appointment multiple days in advance to have my A/C checked. I dropped it off at the scheduled time (9am) and was told I would receive a follow up call at 11am. That call never came, so I called at 1230 and an employee said he would call back in 15 minutes with a status. No call back. I called again at 230 and was told my car had not been looked at and they didn't know why. I picked it up at 3 and of course it was right where I left it. Service employee apologized and said other vehicles had unexpected issues. This shop appears overwhelmed with the amount of work they try to take in. Maybe you'll have better luck. But would still reach out to as many people as I can until they give me a resolution to this damage* Yesterday I booked an appointment for headlights restoration at 8 am at 1848-1850 Revere Beach Parkway, Everett, MA 02149. I waited for half an hour to no one showing up to work, a customer who's ready to do business with a company whose business is around customer service and providing service is already a bad sign. Then I put in another reschedule that I had to make for 10 am today (03.12.2020). We waited for a total of 4 hours and 25 minutes. The customer service was so horrible. They did not give us the right ETA, kept saying that our car was next for the service. They did not take our car in until 1 pm. They did not start on the restoration service until around 2 pm AFTER they had already taken the car into the shop, by then we were already pissed off but thought now at least the car is inside the shop and they'd start the process soon or so you'd think. But NO they kept it inside their shop for over an hour after 30 minutes in we were thinking this is taking too long for this type of procedure for the car turns our they haven't even started putting the tape around the headlight to protect the paint of my car just yet... They could have told us to either come back later or reschedule at around 11AM which is way later than what we had scheduled the service for, and we would be happy to do so since we also had a one-month-old baby with us. After waiting a little pass 2:30 pm, what we received are damaged headlights and paints all over the front parts of the car. The headlights totally look horrible comparing to when we brought the car in. The right headlight supposed to be the better one turned out to be worse. I'm going to attach some photos I took as proofs right in front of the store and at our back yard. We did not have time to come back inside and ask them to fix the problem that they had caused after we had already waited for four hours, and we desperately needed to eat and to feed our baby at this point... I hope this reaches out to the community and to those who have car problems/issues that they need fixing and are thinking about going to this store location 1848-1850, Revere Beach Pkwy, Everett, MA 02149. If I could give negative stars I would have. Customer service was the worst that I've ever experienced. They never once called me to give an update. I had to call them 3-4x before they would answer their phone and they did not have a voicemail to add. Then they kept telling me that they were working with the warranty company, when the warranty company denied ever getting a phone call. They kept my car for more than 24 hours and barely could tell me a diagnosis. I would not encourage anyone to waste their time or money with this shop. read more

I wish I would have read these reviews. I had a very similar story, although a happier ending then most. We rushed out of work on a Friday afternoon and headed towards Maine for a getaway weekend. We made it all of three miles when a woman driving besides us, frantically notified us that we had a flat. Crap. When changing our spare, we noticed the spare was also bad. Double crap. When AAA asked where to be towed, I had no idea what to say, and said "PepBoys in Everett", only because I knew they existed from my many trips to and from Target. We arrived at Pepboys around 7pm on a Friday night, and let us know there wouldn't be any way of installing new tires that night (understandable), but that it would be ready in the morning with four news tires. Still time to make it to Maine for the weekend. Excellent. The next morning, we received a phone call from I believe Francoise, that the car was ready. We ordered an uber and rushed over to find our car still with four old tires on it. HUH?!?!?! Why did you call us over if no work had been done??? I have to say, Manager Cliff, was a total professional. He apologized for the miscommunication, and promised to right the situation. 90 minutes, a walk around Everett, and some time spent at the Dunks next door later, I asked Manager Cliff on the status. He informed me that they had mismeasured the tire, so the tires we had chosen wouldn't work. He promised he would give us nicer tires for the same price, for the mistake. Okay. A grand total of 2 hours and 45 minutes after we had come in, the car was actually ready to go. We ended up with nicer tires than expected, and Manager Cliff gave us multiple discounts for the hassle. I guess the discount (around $180) balanced out the annoyances, and the loss of our morning. Made an appointment for 8:30 am -- oil change and headlight bulbs. Was told the mechanic would be in @ 9 - so it would be a bit of a wait. It's now after 11 and I'm still waiting. 2.5+hours. Here's a thought: don't offer any appointments for time slots that are not staffed. So if you have time on your hands - go for it. But if you time is important go somewhere else. Awful!!! Wish I could give zero stars. Terribly run business and even worse customer service. I had an appointment to get 2 new tires at 12pm. I arrived right on time and they told me it was going to take an hour and a half (a bit long for 2 tires when I had an appointment but I was fine with it) They said they would call me when it was ready so I went to a restaurant and a store in the area. TWO AND A HALF HOURS PASS and still no call, so I head back and my car had not been touched. I went in and the lady said it was going to be another 45-hour until it is ready. Three months later had them check the breaks, because of noise and vibration . They found nothing. A month later I took it to a Chevy dealer. Everything on the front had to be replaced! I went here and got a diagnostics because I thought I had a leak and an issue with my axle. Spoke with a mechanic kid he told me there was no leak but there was a problem with the axle. So I brought my car back on 3/23/2019 my appt. was at 9 am they basically did nothing and charge me 500.00 bucks. After they were done this kid had a nerve to insult me. The kid told me that I needed a flush and they robbed me they didn't do nothing. That was unnecessary that disrespect didn't have to happen. They cancelled my appointment and my tires before I got there. When I call the Dedham store they were rude and didn't want to accept the order and challenged the price. I could see they cancelled because they think customer has to pay more and therefore they try to sale you another$200 worth of other things such as road hazard and alignment and who knows tpms. Mins you online road hazard is already included. I wish I could give a zero star because that's what they deserve. I wanted to see if only Dedham store behaved like this or thier other stores behaved the same. I got the same result from Everett store as well. I will never go back to Pep boys. It was the worst experience I have ever had getting anything done on my truck. I used AAA to tow my truck for a simple nail plug in my tire. I was charged for the plug and the valve\sensor that was also replaced. The next morning, I notice the tire was flat again. So, I had to AAA my truck back to Pep Boys. While at Pep Boys, I find out they never plugged the tire and only replaced the valve. But I was charged for the tire plug. I was lied to and forgotten about while I was there. I was charged for something that was not done to my truck. Then was not refunded or compensated in any way shape or form. I spent 4.5 hours there on Sunday then another 5 hours on Monday. They were unable to find me a tire to replace the one that was flat. They then tried to have me purchase four new tires. I was told all the tires I was considering were not in stock. They suggested I drive to Salem, MA to the other Pep Boys myself to pick up four tires and bring them back for them to install them the next day. I said this is ridiculous and told them to take my truck from the lift so I can go elsewhere. I went down the street to Woody's tire shop and was taking care of quickly and professionally. And much less expensive than I would have paid at Pep Boys. My other 3 tires are in great shape, Woody's tire sold me and replaced only the damaged tire. read more

Seriously regretting not reading the reviews before going to Pep Boys in Everett. Okay, so I take work off on Monday to get a bunch of errands done including getting new tires. I call Pep boys and get Sal. Sal tells me if I bring the car in at 2 they will have it done by 6. I get they're busy so no big deal, I can leave my car there and go back to pick it up. I get a call at 6:30 from Sal telling me that despite telling me they had the tires I wanted they actually don't have them.... He was apologetic and said that they could get them for me for Wednesday. I go back to pick up my car and Sal tells me that he will call me at 11 on Wednesday when they get the tires in and he promises to "take care of me". I'm frustrated but tell him that's fine, I can move most of my work meetings except a 3pm and a 5pm. He says that won't be a problem. So I cancel all other meetings on Wednesday and wait for the call starting at 11. I'm sure everyone already knows that no call comes. Because why would they keep their word right? I call at 12. I'm told Sal isn't there and asks what tires I need. I tell them I don't know the exact tires but they're for a Honda CVR and that I have an account he can look it up. He tells me "I'm really not helping him here." Okay...cool...well you're not helping me either buddy. He finds my account and says that they have 7 in stock. He is going to "get his hands on them and call me right back in two minutes" with what time I can come in. That was an hour and half ago. This place is a joke. Clearly. This is an extremely mixed review. I'm tempted to give 3 stars because it "seems" like a 3 star experience in some respects (open Sundays, accommodated me without an appointment, clean shop), but "Meh. I've experienced better" is a far more accurate description of my feelings after what happened yesterday. Saturday night, check engine light comes on, the car engine starts jerking/shuddering, I'm a block from home with my husband driving, so my husband nervously drives the one block home, and parks in our driveway. Ideally, you don't want to mess around with check engine lights (could be the engine seizing up, or something else very serious), so the next morning I have it towed to the only place in the area with mechanics working on Sunday: Pep Boys. For the record, my husband and I placed bets that night on what the problem actually was: I guessed spark plug not firing, he guessed bad fuel mixture ratio... I don't have an appointment at Pep Boys, so it takes a couple hours to run the diagnostics. Totally understandable. Turns out, I won the bet! It was a single ignition coil not firing. The estimate they gave me was insane. Over $750 to replace THREE spark plugs AND three ignition coils (v4 engine and we had one plug/coil that had been recently replaced, so that was fine). I don't remember what they were charging for the plugs, but the ignition coils alone were $152/each -- an extremely overinflated price, as I would later verify. This is ridiculous. We have one ignition coil causing the problem, why do you need to replace 5 other components that are working? I tried to explain that I just wanted the problem fixed, that this was an emergency repair, and as long as the car was drivable, I could get a full tuneup at my regular mechanic later that week. They INSISTED that I needed to replace everything. Yes, the plugs were old, yes the ignition coils had seen better days, but there was only one part that was actually broken. This is like taking a car to a shop for a flat tire and, although the other three tires are perfectly legal and drivable, they immediately give you an invoice for replacing all four of them and refuse to honor your request for just replacing the flat. (Not a perfect example, ideally you want to get the same tires/conditions on the same axle, especially with four wheel drive you want all four to be the same, but that's not the case with ignition coils. What they did was downright devious) The mechanic eventually came out, I point blank asked him if he could just replace the one coil. He never answered the question, gave me some BS excuse, and said that he would feel bad if I drove down the road and something else gave out. I kept coming back and saying I just wanted the broken thing fixed. He said "Oh, you don't understand what I'm talking about" He went out to the shop, came out with a spark plug (like I hadn't seen one before?) and explained how engines worked and what parts he wanted to replace. Seriously? Yes, I know how engines work. I brought my car in because you have the magical computer diagnostic tool, not because I need "what a spark plug is" explained to me! At any rate, they didn't even have the parts in stock and wouldn't be able to do anything until Monday at the earliest. So guess what? I took out my phone called Autozone. The ignition coil Pep Boys was charging $152 for (not including labor or shop fees) was $90 there -- AND they had them in stock! Done! Because of the diagnostics Pep Boys did, I knew that my MPGs might take a hit but the car was safe to drive a few miles, even if it felt like I was driving an oversized 2 cylinder motorcycle :-p To the credit of Pep Boys, they did not charge me for the initial diagnostics they ran after I told them that the part was available for far cheaper and IN STOCK, at AutoZone just a few miles away, and that the repairs they were trying to make me do were ridiculous, in this context. I was happy to pay for the diagnosis (I mean, they have the equipment, I didn't, it was valuable to me -- I'll give them that), but they waived the charges. So I swung by home, picked up the husband (he likes doing car things to feel manly ;) ), picked up the socket wrenches, and $90 (not $750+) and less than 5 minutes of work later, the car ran beautifully. Seriously, replacing this is a 5 minute job in the AutoZone parking lot. Take off the plastic engine cover, pull out the old coil, plug in the new one, put the engine cover back on. Anyone can do it. Making an appointment with our regular mechanic today to get a tune up, but I'm sure it will be far less than what Pep Boys was asking. (Heck, you can order the parts online for even less than what AutoZone was charging! Seriously, good honest mechanics are worth their weight in gold). The worst customer service ever. The guy there asked if he could take a picture of a credit card? I'm sorry, isn't that a breach of security? The appointment times are never accurate & service is slow. The don't even follow through with there "warranties" will not return. Had to give at least one star but they deserve ZERO. read more

I was in the area and in need of replacement windshield wipers as mine were over six years old and to the point where the rubber was starting to fall apart. I decided to go to Pep Boys where I figured that it would be a routine and rapid procedure. I easily parked in their very large lot and walked over. I had a brief dialogue with one of their sales clerks who helped me pick - what he thought were - the right blade and I paid. I was told to swing around the back so they could be fitted onto my Civic. Once in the back they opened the packaging, and it took 2 staff members to realize that they had picked the wrong ones. Okay fine, mistakes happen, no big deal. At that point about twenty minutes had elapsed and I had to go back inside to have them swapped for correct ones. I wait in line again for another five minutes and it took the staff a further 10+ minutes to find the correct ones. I then proceed in the back again and it took - I shit you not - three staff members to install them. While most customers will usually like extra attention given to them, this clearly demonstrated that they had no idea what the hell they were doing and the whole ordeal took nearly forty minutes which is ridiculous. On the upside the blades are awesome and wipe my windshield very well but yeah, that's pretty much the only redeeming factor here folks. I really expected better from such a well-established brand. I would be really hard-pressed to return there for anything at this point based on my sole experience there which what would seem like a very basic maintenance procedure. read more
