I got a flat tire and my rental car was taken to Pep Boys to fix it by the rental company. Last night, Boston got 6 inches of snow. Pep Boys left the car outside. When I went to pick it up, I was shocked the car was outside covered in snow. There was plenty of space in their garage to keep the over inside to avoid the snow. Since this is a rental car with Florida plates, I have to park it in a garage since the city doesn't give us resident parking permits. Because of this, I don't have a snow brush or ice scraper. It's a rental!! They knew this. Pep Boys did very little to help and just handed me a broken broom. This was completely irresponsible of them. My car was buried under snow and I had to use a broken broom to off my car. They knew it was a rental car and absolutely didn't care. On top of it all, they never called me when the car was ready. I had to call them to follow up. The car was ready last night but they didn't call. I could've picked it up yesterday and avoided this mess! Way to ruin my Sunday morning. read more

I had a slow leak and tried filling my tire at a gas station, but the cold caused the air machine to malfunction and drain my tire down to 16 PSI. After driving around to several stations with broken machines, I pulled into Pep Boys in Everett just before closing. Gregory, the assistant manager, was professional, kind, and genuinely customer focused. Instead of telling me what he couldn't do, he focused on how he could help. He filled my tire even though he could have just apologized and sent me on my way. A couple months ago I had my car towed here for a flat. It was after hours, so I wasn't able to speak to anyone before committing to have them fix the problem. The tire was busted by a pot hole, so it needed replacement. The employees were nice when I spoke with them on the phone and when I came in to get the car. Price seemed fair. I arrived with my car towed around 7am and waited until 9am for them to open the store. I asked what could be done to fix my 2 rims and 2tires that got flat, but I was going to change all of them. They tried first to look for parts and tires and couldn't find it on store and couldn't go check or call other stores on a Sunday when almost nothing is open. Mind you, I was trying to drive back home in RI, one of the mechanics tried to make me pay almost the triple of price for what needed to be done and tried to make me change all the rims and tires for 2000 dollars. Louis tried to be slick and smart with me, because I'm a women and dont know much about cars, also desperate to go home on a Sunday that everything else is closed and nobody else could fix it. I spent my whole day trying to get help with the members there, I stayed on store until almost 4pm. So I definitely do not recommend you going here, go to Town Fair tire they are fair with prices and truthful with information. read more

I think the Pep Boys in Everett are not very good to deal with and take advantage of their customers. I brought a loose tire and wheel in to be repaired because it had a screw in it. They said the tire could not be repaired and I needed a new tire. I said ok and purchased a new tire. They called me later saying I needed a new air pressure sensor that would cost $70 and I needed to get it. I picked up the tire and wheel but when I put it on the car the dash said a tire sensor inoperable. I went back to Pep Boys and they said that the sensor needs to be programed, it won't work without programming and that would cost $120 in addition to the $70 I paid for the sensor. If all of what they said is true they could have said so up front. I now drive with a tire warning light on. Now I wonder if I needed a new tire at all and maybe the screw hole could have been plugged. read more

Came in to have all my tires replaced which includes balancing. When I started to drive on the highway after leaving, my steering wheel started shaking aggressively driving 55mph and above. I went to another Pep Boys and found out by their mechanic that this location did not balance my wheels (even though the receipt stated they did). I paid good money to have my tires replaced and they knowingly lied on the receipt and did not do something that is required, putting my family and I in a dangerous situation on the highway. Also as a side note- if you are coming here to deal with a nail in your tire, you only need a tire plug which cost $20-$30 to have the hole plugged up and fixed, there is no need to have your entire tire replaced. Today is 2/12/2024-The day before one of the biggest expected snowstorms to hit Boston for the first time in the year 2024. And, I'm glad I decided to get tire services at Pep Boys in the Everett, MA location.  For starters I'd like to thank Gregory V. for his outstanding dedication in customer service, he demonstrated that he is knowledgeable of all the products, he is a man of integrity that shows he stands behind his product and the phenomenal customer service. Greg's transparency allowed me to have full trust in him and Pep Boys. I can reassure you that I will be a long-term loyal customer from this day forward with Pep Boys and that Everett, MA location specifically.  Before arriving at Pep Boys I spent a week shopping around. I looked into every tire company in the North Shore. I shopped online and called many locations to try and get the best value. A majority of the other competitors had long phone wait times, were unhelpful and directed me back to their site which can be overwhelming.  I called the Everett, MA location at 4:53 PM and spoke to Greg. The first thing I said to him was: "I've been shopping around for tires as a gift for my Mother's birthday, and I have no knowledge about what are the best tires that are suitable for her vehicle. I have had no luck with other sellers." I would say that my voice was rather desperate for some answers. His tone was very warm, and patient. Instantly, I felt a sense of ease and was easily able to ask all the questions I had and by the end of the 20 minute call I had a good sense of the tire I would be looking to purchase. I asked if I would be able to get seen today even after knowing that they close at 8PM. He said he might be able to get me seen before they close. I told him I'll call him back before 6PM, and  I continued to do online searches after the call for comparisons and measured knowledge of the various tire products; And, I found myself back at Pep Boys for the best deal and astonishing customer service.  I decided to go through with getting my tire service at Pep Boys, Everett, MA. I had already had my moms car because I borrowed it for the weekend and had to get the car back to her before the snowstorm began. I got to Pep Boys by 6:30 PM and was out the door before they closed. I got all the works which was the 4 tires, alignment, and road hazard warranty.  I drove straight to my mothers house and I let go of the wheel driving on the highway and WOW! I drove straight for 1 mile before having to curve and was very impressed with the alignment work. The car felt taller, had a strong grip to the ground, and driving over avoidable potholes was not felt, which is good because my Mother has a pinched nerve in the end of her spine and can be felt with the tires she had before.  My mother was practically in tears when I arrived and told her that I got her new tires.  Thank you Greg. and to the Pep Boys team in the Everett, MA location for bringing joy to myself and my family. But-overall, keeping in mind that safety was at the core of their work and it shows. I feel at peace for my Mother to be on the road and to get home safely to and from work during the upcoming Nor'Easter. What a terrible experience all around. I made an appointment and paid for 2 new tires. I'm not entirely sure what the point of the appointment system even is... my car sat for hours before they even took it in. (I worked in the lobby) They have a link they sent you so you can follow the progress of your vehicle. They don't use it... even Dominoes has that progress tracker on lock! And there were enough people just sitting around to manage the progress tracker. (Clearly I'm cranky at them) Finally the car was done... tires looked great. After a day of driving I noticed one of my tires was now screeching like nails in a chalk board. I "make an appointment" bring it there... same type of experience, but I knew what I was in for... Hours later the girl comes over to me with a quote for $1000. I need brakes and rotors on all 4 tires. I could tell it was close to needed them checked out, but all 4 brakes and rotors! No way... I take it for a second opinion and I only need brake pads in the front. WHY BE SHADY!!!! Or maybe they need to ensure their techs actually know what they are doing. Terrible service! I scheduled an appointment and paid online ($800.00) to have four new tires put on my car. I came in for my appointment and was told that they were too busy to work on my car and was told to come back the next day. (I tried to call to confirm my appointment and make sure the tires were in stock but they don't answered the phone). Why have an online scheduling system if you don't have the mechanics to do the work? I went back the next day and it took them 4 hours to change four tires! Everything was paid for online but when I was checking out the charged me a $10 shop fee! Ridiculous! I called the corporate office to complain but they just they gave me a case # and told me that someone would me back. They never called! What's the point of making a service appointment if there's no intention of honoring it. I made a 10am appointmemt, and they're already 3 hours behind. I say that I'm waiting with the car, so will bring it in closer to noon, the rep said that my appointment was at 10, so I was expected to be there then, and to wait (3+ hours). I responded, if you know you're 3 hours behind schedule, why should I show up and wait? His response was, because we're busy... If you don't honor your appointments, don'tbpretend tonoffer them. Awful experience, their online scheduling is a joke. I made an appointment for 1pm for an oil change. When I arrived at 5pm thinking that was plenty of time, my car was still in the lot and no oil change done. They said they don't honor the online scheduling... The gentlemen at the desk was rude and lied to my face. I mentioned I called a few times during the day to check on my vehicle, no one answered and he said the phone wasn't ringing so they weren't able to hear anyone calling...as the phone was very loudly ringing right next to us. I never leave Yelp reviews but this experience was too shocking not to. Went in to get my car checked out for a leak around 6:00 and was the first person in line but waited over 25 minutes just to get someone to talk to me even though I had made an appointment. While waiting I got to hear the conversations the manager was having with customers on the phone, being extremely rude and telling them not to call and just wait until he calls them, then tried to complain to me about it after hanging up. Meanwhile, the guy has his mask pulled down to his chin completely exposing his nose and mouth (and he wasn't the only one doing this). I was told I'd get a call in the morning for a quote and got nothing. I gave them a call in the late afternoon and tried to get an update and the person on the phone told me they had ordered the part and need to wait for it to come in, completely ignoring the fact that they were to wait until I got a quote to do any work on the car. I told the person on the phone I didn't want work done until I got a quote, and she rudely told me she needed 15 minutes and would call me back. One hour later I hadn't gotten a call so I called again and finally was able to get a quote. When I was in the store I watched numerous rude interactions between customers and employees and felt unsafe with the employees not following the CDC guidelines. Clearly this place is far too comfortable calling their own shots. P.S. when I showed up and parked my in the customer parking lot, an employee came out of the garage and told me to move my car and not park next to his. Warning do not go to the store. They are totally incompetent. It took over 16 hours over the course of two days and the job is still not done right they let me drive away in my Ford F250 without test driving the vehicle they did not balance my wheels. I returned it the next day they said, OK they will balance the wheels. We are sorry, seven hours later they gave me back my vehicle and it was 100 times worse than when I picked it up the first time so now I am buying tires at town, fair tire and returning these used ones this place is the absolute worst business do not do business there. I waited an hour and a half for them to say "we can't" and tell me I need to buy 4 brand new tires instead, even though the tires on my vehicle are less than 6 months old. Once I told them I wasn't buying 4 new tires the "manager" shook his head through the window to the "mechanic" & told me to wait out front for my keys and vehicle. I receive my keys, get in my car & magically the check engine light is now on when it wasn't an hour and a half ago.. Woke up this morning with my check engine light on and called Pep Boys to see if they could fit me in for a diagnostic this afternoon. I went in at 4:30. It turns out my thermostat and sensor were broken, which could've caused my engine to overheat. They managed to fit me in to fix it that same day since it wasn't safe for me to drive. Melissa was working the front and was super helpful. She helped me by calling the company who manages my warranty and arranging everything with them so I wouldn't have to pay too much. I would give 0 stars if possible. Brought them my car for a brake job in August. Had an early appointment but my car wasn't done for 11 hours. Fast forward 3 months and the brakes are totally shot. Bring them back again and 9 hours later they're fixed. A month later I bring my car for a state vehicle inspection. Not only do the rear brakes still need work, the front brakes clearly weren't checked during either inspection because the pads were 3mm. Absolutely disgusted with the lack of competence here. What a comedy. I purchased 4 tires for my daughter's Honda. When she returned home with the car, the valve caps were missing and the TPMS tire pressure light was on. Additionally, the rear wheel is now scraping on something. The car was returned to PEP Boys to correct the issues. Other than replacing the value caps, they denied causing any additional problems. My car would start only if I kept turning the key for 2 minutes (cranks but doesn't start until 2 minutes later), so I decided to bring my car (2007 Toyota Corolla S) in early yesterday morning (10/11/21) at 8am to Pep Boys so it can get fixed so I can go to work at 4pm. They performed a vehicle inspection, told me it was a loose wire and ignition switch, removed and replaced the ignition switch. By 1:30pm, they charged me $704.95, told me they fixed the car and gave the car back to me running. When I got home 25 minutes later, I turned it off and on because my gut told me to, but the car wasn't fixed. Now it's worse because it cranks but doesn't start at all!!!!!!!. Upset, my gut told me to check to see if the ignition switch was new at all only to see the original or factory ignition switch! After being charged $198.19 for parts, $457.19 for labor, $35 as other and $14.57 in tax, I'm out $704.95 and I can't start my car to run my Lyft business. Also had to miss 2 days of work so far while bills pile up. It's absurd and unprofessional to charge all this money for a part that wasn't the right part and for services that was wrong. Not doing everything that you can to solve the problem even after running a vehicle inspection is wrong, especially since you're being compensated to provide professional repair services to completely solve. The vehicle was dropped off at 6:30am and keys in lockbox. I called in at 2:30pm and the guy told me that it was going to be ready in 1-1:30 hours. My husband went to pick up the truck at 4pm and the truck wasn't even moved from where he dropped it off in the morning! The keys were still in the lockbox! What kind of shop do you guys run? The first thing you do is to check the lockbox and they didn't do that! Needless to say how upset we are and the guys at the shop didn't apologize or anything, they were indifferent and somewhat rude to my husband.
