I have been coming here for over 20 years. I will NOT be returning I made an appointment for an oil change 5 days in advance. When I arrived I was told it would take 2 hours. For just an oil change. After 2 and 1/2 hours I checked and was told they hadn't started it yet. It would take at least another hour. It took almost 4 hours for an oil change for which I had an appointment. I don't know why most tire places are closed on Sunday. Pep Boys is one of two places in the area that is open on Sundays. But, my first stop was to Firestone Tire, a few miles up the road. It seems that I was wearing my ring of invisibility when I went there, because I stood there for 15 minutes while the manager answered the phone twice, kept on typing, and didn't acknowledge me even once. When I finally got her attention, she said I would have to leave my car until the end of the day (6 hours!) for a tire change. What a night and day difference between Firestone and Pep Boys. I was greeted within a minute of walking in. I was told I would be next in line to get my tire worked on. Blaise first told me about the low price tires, rather than steering me to the most expensive ones. Then, he walked me over to the tire rack to see what the tread looked and felt like. Impressive. I got one of the Kelly tires, which was high quality and about $100 installed. And, it was fast! I'm not kidding: there was about half an hour from the time I walked in the door to the time I left with a new tire on my car. And, since it's Pep Boys, it's also a fully stocked (and surprisingly clean) auto parts store. I'll definitely come back for my tire needs, but the massive selection of parts means I'll be back again for more mundane things, too. read more

This will now be my to go place. I had a bad experience with discount tire, long waits and customer service. I decided to try this place out. They fixed my tire that had a screw in it right away. I was in and out in probably 15/20 minutes. Blaise deserves a raise. He has great customer service with a side of humor. Absolute joke. I go in for an alignment and the guy tells me 1-1.5 hours. So I decide to just wait. Almost 2 hours later I am told they cannot do an alignment as my car is a 2021 and they can only go up to the year 2020. Horrible communication and no compensation for the waste of time. Great shop for basic repairs, will not drag on them for that. The employees that I dealt with were a pleasure as well. However I cannot recommend a/c work here. If anything the problem got worse after service here. O-rings on the lines on the compressor were replaced, yet they continued to leak. Ended up taking it to a dealer and they had to redo the job that Pep Boys fell short on. Perhaps that's on me, tried to save a little money on a/c and it didn't go in my favor. In the end, I had to go to the dealer anyways and spent twice the amount of money, than if I would've chosen the dealer in the first place. And that's not all! After the initial a/c service I brought my car back to have them recheck for leaks. After 36 hours I call to get my car's status. They answer and ask ME why my car is there. I find it rather curious that my car was there for 36 hours and no one knew why it was there. Moreover, if they didn't know, then why didn't anyone call and ask me about it? Stay as far away from this place as possible. Had an appointment to look at my car because the steering wheel was shaking. After waiting 30 Minutes past the apt. time the guy looked at for 2 minutes and determined that- and I quote- "it is everything under the car". Lol, what!?! Everything?! He said I needed tie rods and hub bearings. I had the receipt in my glove box for those being replaced 6 months ago!! So all those parts went bad at the same time in 6 months? I came here because I had to replace the headlights for one of the family cars and my mother preferred this place. Normally I would have a buddy of mine do it for me but he was busy and she needed it done right away and she likes Pep Boys. I went and grabbed the headlights and walked to the counter to pay for them and have them installed. How little did I know that the parts part of the place isn't part of Pep Boys. So I have to pay for the headlights and than go over to the other side to have them installed. To me this is very time consuming and seems to be a waste of time not having them both part of them same company. Don't get me wrong the price and service was great. But I'm not one on wasting time when it's not needed. read more

Never, ever, ever again! Do not go to this location if you can help it. Severe lack of customer service, employees on their phones when they should be assisting others or answering questions... I had to wait an hour plus for an oil change that I was told would take 30 minutes. Oil changes don't take that long. The worst part is I had to reschedule my original appointment because someone called off. David has no sense of customer service or time management and he couldn't give me my receipt that showed everything that was done to my vehicle. If you need an oil change, a good quality oil change, go to your manufacturer. I'm sure you'll be treated a lot better then this place. And the price will be better, too. This place sucks! I made an appointment for an alignment after replacing parts on my cars front end. I showed up on time with my girlfriend following me so I could ride back with her and drop my car off. They said they couldn't do it because the guy that does alignments wasn't there. Sooo why would they not contact me and let me know this information before wasting me and my gfs time driving up here to have to turn around and leave. Very unprofessional. Went for an oil change and a tire. The tires a tire, they had it, put it on. The oil change however was a different story. Waited almost 3 hours. It's been 500 miles and no my oil light is on. There's no way my car could burn through 5 quarts of oil even if it was some kind of 1992 junk clinker. I drive a 2013 Volvo truck. And the oils change was $120. read more

I made an appointment over the phone they said 10am the next day. When I got there after clearing 6 inches of snow they said come back in a hour and a half. I already ordered my tires so I did come back only to end up being there from 1130 to 3pm for tires. That's ridiculous that long to change tires. With an appointment made that they didn't honor. Good price for tires being mounted and balanced, but very very very slow. Took almost 2 hours to finish 4 tires on my f150 truck. I did not even count the time waiting to get my truck in to the shop. A reasonable time would be less than one hour. I know because I done tires in a past job. I guess I can not recommend if you're in a hurry. The main reason coming is the life time balancing and rotation. I did not purchase tires here, I used a website called "tirerack", they delivered the new tires to pep boys. So I always double check other people's work and they didn't put enough air in all four tires. Sad to say, seems like the staff was a bit unprofessional and untrained. I will be trying out a different pep Boys store, and make a fair comparison. Maybe they will be better, so I feel lucky that I didn't get my wheels alignment. This is a convenient auto part store in Eastpointe. they are located right next to the Auto Zone. This place is ALOT BIGGER than Auto Zone, so if they dont have your part there chances are they will have it here. and unlike Auto Zone they do have a Garage. I personally would not take my car here because they are expensive in comparison to the other local shops. they DO however offer tires, breaks, oil change etc... they also run sales adds in the paper online and offer coupons. like.... buy 3 tires and get the 4th free. (*check other reviews for a detailed experience in the shop)* part of wich I decided on opting out of having my car serviced here. I choose to only give 3 stars because the young lady working there is VERY RUDE. and seems like she dose not like people or her job. If your running in to grab a few things for your car, or want to do it yourself, grab some bondo or wash and wax... As far as product these guys have a ton! I can always find interior/exterior accessories I need or performance parts. But if you're looking to have work done here, save yourself a trip! Took my wifes Honda CRV here for a brake replacement for the front. After waiting to see how much we were told how bad the ball joints were, control arms, and a few other things. We were quoted close to $800 to fix everything. We said thats to much so took it to Firestone on 15 & Gratiot, mechanic took us under car showed us our ball joint was fine, control arms were fine, replaced brake pads and rotors. Ended up paying about $150 car has been fine. Pepboys is close to my house so it can be convenient but I will not have work done here. They are always about $150-$300 over when it comes to getting estimates for certain repairs. Call around and see for yourself. Every time I walk into this location people are working their hardest to help everyone. I've been here to get new tires put on my Jeep and to do a lot of other stuff. On top of that I just dropped off my car because of some issues it was having. Blaise is the guy to talk to there, and you won't have any problems getting in and getting out. read more

While I was very satisfied and happy with the lady at the desk writing up the service order, the rest was a total case of WOW! I had an 8am appointment. Another car had taken up my slot. Futher I was informed that a tool they needed to make the least effort work (wheel bearing press) was broken so my only option was a more expensive repair. There was another experience that pretty much finished it and I decided to take my work elsewhere. They get good marks for the courtesy, but the product is flawed and needs to be improved. Be it known that the Eastpointe Pep Boys is AWESOME! They do outstanding work for reasonable prices. And because of this, it takes TIME. People need to learn to be PATIENT, especially during our current situation. I would much rather have a mechanic take their time and do the job RIGHT, rather than rush through, just to satisfy everyone's impatience. Went to buy two tires today for car. Nice older man asked Rico to check to make sure , Rico didn't listen and continued to eat chips and play on his phone. Nice old man asked again, Rico reply's ya we got em it's in the computer. We buy them and leave. 20 mins later we get a call that they actually don't have them, show back up and Rico still playing on phone doesn't help us and we wait for the old man. While we wait Rico stated ya the old man read it wrong. I correct him that it was him who failed to do his job and he should take responsibility. This place is a joke! We went in there for new breaks on our Malibu. We thought we might also need new rotors. My husband thought it wouldn't be more than $400. They had our car for more than 2 hours. At that point they called to tell us a long list of problems and the cost would be $800. My husband said absolutely not and then we took it to a local Midas. They charged us less than $400 and we didn't even half the stuff fixed Pep Boys said we did. Needless to say we will NEVER go there again. read more

I purchased a new set of tires from here and found out a month later that they cross threaded EVERY lug nut. This is not acceptable because if you get a flat tire on the road(where you have no air gun to loosen the nuts) you wouldn't be able to get the lug nuts off in order to put the spare tire on. Bad Management - Bad Service !!!!! I took my vehicle with a brand new tire to get a flat tire fixed. I asked the manager Anthony if they can patch the tire from the inside - He said yes and quoted me $22.xx plus tax. After waiting 90 minutes, when I got my vehicle back and looked at where the nail had puncture tire - They PUT A PLUG instead of a patch from the inside in the brand new tire. This happened on Friday afternoon - Today, Sunday morning the tire is flat on the ground. They did not take care of my problem, and did not fix my tire! read more

Extremely unprofessional. I asked him what he did and his response was "she's always like that" I guess she was a manager, but her you couldn't tell by her sloppy uniform.I felt bad for the guy, he seemed diminished from working there. As I approached the entry I noticed a Huge "Now Hiring" sign on the door, which indicated that there maybe a slight wait, even though the parking lot was totally empty, I figured shouldn't be to long. So with my patience hat strapped on tight I entered the store. The next thing I noticed was it was extremely cold and dark inside. I approached the counter quickly (no line) because the store was empty and there were at least 3 sales clerks on the phone. No one ever acknowledged me until a women came from out the back with a friendly smile and said "may I help you?" I preceded to let her know that I needed a headlight. She asked about the details of my vehicle and quoted me a price for the bulb. But if you want it installed you'd have to step over to our service area. OK fine the bulb was about $15, so I figured no more than $20 or $25 at the most to pop it in. So I'm now at the service desk, again no line and the clerks are on the phone and again No Acknowledgement. Finally another women says "May I help You" in a very unfriendly manner. I explain what I needed and she puts the info in the computer. Apparently she got stuck on something, so she asked one of her coworkers, who was still on the phone, a question and I swear you would have thought she asked for his first born (so rude). She quoted me a rediculous price of $36. No thank you... I go back over to Parts to buy the bulb after deciding to get someone else to pop it in and still no line, still no customers, clerks still on the phone including the friendly women who waited on me the first time and still no acknowledgement. I stood their for a while when I decided to walk out and go else where. Aweful Experience. Will never, ever go in there again. read more
