Big Ray's is one of the best quick oil change shops I've been to. Very reasonably priced and cheaper than the last quick lube shop I went to in Ann Arbor. I used to frequent this place when it was a Jiffy Lube but after the new owner (Big Ray?) took over, it took a dive. First, they are overpriced. Second, they reprimand you for skipping an oil change. (which I didn't skip, I had a freebie somewhere else and I later found out that they didn't change my oil or do anything.) Third, they try to convince you to get services or products you don't need. Ray had taken wipers out of the package and started putting them on even though I said I didn't want them. Fourth, they are condescending and straight up a-holes. Just one of the few oil change places I've tried that somehow managed to completely fail at a simple task. The first time they changed my oil, they were able to do it properly. When I returned for service a second time, they didn't tighten the drain plug and it discovered a puddle of oil under my car the following day. The mechanic must have forgotten to tighten the plug the rest of the way. Luckily, I only drove about a mile home and didn't lose all my oil or the plug along the way. I wouldn't risk getting another oil change there. read more

I came in today knowing I was 10k and 5 months overdue for an oil change, and was really nervous about what to expect. Mike and Hass were friendly, fast, and let me know that they were running a special on engine flushes so I could get my car back on the road sludge-free without breaking the bank. They suggested an air filter change but let me know I could take care of that whenever. They did a top off of all fluids and let me know my tires were just a couple lbs low before filling. They tried to sell me a bunch of stuff I don't need. Afterward I found out they neither changed the oil or the filter. Unless of course oil goes black in three days and their filters have worn out numbers and letters and look all beat up. Also he said it would be $16.99 but he charged $20.13 to my card. I also had a horrible experience here. I would never ever go back here even if they offered me free service. They were pushy, expensive and rude. They over-charged me and suggested a ton of things I didn't actually need. Also, they replaced a part and never showed/gave me my original part. They completely took advantage of me. I use to go to this place when it was Quaker state, and always received great service. However I would not recommend this place under the new ownership, Big Rays. My experience left me very unconfident as to if my car has been properly serviced. Even though I pulled right into a bay I was there for 40 minutes as the service guy was too busy flirting with the girl in the other car. My hood was only open 15 minutes during my 40 minute stay in this frigid cold garage, the rest of the time I was just waiting for him trying to get this girls number. I should of said something but even I started to become interested in listening to this guy give his one liners to this girl and see if he ended up with her number (he didn't). Besides having to wait around, I am unsure about the service performed. I can tell everyone that even though they have it that my Windshield Wiper fluid as filled on the invoice, It was two days later after my oil change that I noticed I wasn't getting any more fluid out of my washer sprayer. Sure enough it was empty and I had to fill it. I went a step further after filling my washer fluid to check my oil level dip stick, and this was at the minimum line of my level. So I added some oil to bring it in between the min/max line. Yes this left me very unconfident about my oil change, so much so I will probably be stopping in to another place this week to repay for another oil change. Needless to say I will not be back to this new ownership called Big Rays. read more
