Took my car here it kept cutting off when I stop and they got me in so quick and took my car right away, they found the problem and seen a little piece of pollen blew it out and seen they had parts that fit my car that were used put them on and made my day my fix was minor and they didn't charge me a thing, I also had got my aux stuck they popped it right out. Been going here for years getting our cars fixed. I feel that mechanically, they know what they are doing for the work they do, however over the last 2 years I have noticed their prices have skyrocketed and feel they may say more work is needed than actually is. I took my truck in for a check engine light. They told me it needed a new catalytic converter and told me the cost would be about $2,000. I held off after they tried to scare me into getting the work done immediately telling me my gaskets would blow at any time due to back pressure. I went and got a second opinion, the other shop confirmed I needed a new catalytic converter but also quoted me at $1,100 using all OEM parts and told me that they wouldn't bother rushing to replace it until the engine starts having a hard time starting. So I feel the work they do, they do a decent job, but I don't feel all the work they say is needed is actually needed and their prices have gone way up. read more

I had come in for a realignment after having gotten two new front tires. On the day of my appointment, after almost three hours of waiting, they come back and tell my car is actually unsafe to drive and that I need new rotors, new brakes, and new front struts, and try to charge me over two thousand dollars! They tell me with the amount of brake pad left on my car, it was a miracle I could even stop my car, and that my struts are sagging and because of that they refused to do a realignment on my car. Naturally, I want to make sure that other auto repair stores agree with this assessment, so I take it to another store. Turns out, this place was trying to take advantage of me and scam me. My car in reality had no problems, the suspension was perfectly fine, and my car was safe to drive. I even took it to a third place after just to make absolutely sure, and they said the same thing to me. Do not go to this store. If you do not "look" like you know anything about cars, they WILL try to take advantage of you and try to make you pay for more than you actually need. read more

My 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham suddenly became very loud. The exhaust pipe, between the header and the muffler rusted away completely and both were hanging freely beneath the car. I called Mr. Muffler on Hall Rd. around 3pm and described my car & the symptom. I was told that they were on a first come, first serve basis and the earlier I could drop my car off, the sooner it would be worked on. Then the tech offered to store my vehicle inside overnight, since it is a classic car. I thought this was extremely courteous. I dropped the car off and although repairs were not completed the next day, I was called with a quote of $135 total for the repair which included welding a section of new pipe between the existing exhaust pipe and the muffler. I picked my car up the following morning, inspected the repair and everything was perfect! They could have tried to sell me a new pipe, muffler & hangers, but they didn't make any attempt to over-sell me. I am completely satisfied and will definitely return whenever I need exhaust work. read more

Went here for a brake job and spent close to $900 for pads, rotors, and calipers for the front. Four days later I noticed they were squealing and a lot of brake dust. Went back and they said it must've been a bad part and tried to charge me for new rotors again. After I spoke out about it, they tons me they guessed they would cover it under warranty. 6 months later still same issue. I took it to another shop and they said the calipers weren't even replaced and I need to spend that much money again since everything is worn out. I'd give this place negative stars if I could. I took my car in to Discount Tire to get a set of new tires and unfortunately someone had previously tried to hammer my locking lug nuts off. This resulted in my lug nuts cracking (completely not their fault) and the guys at Discount not being able to get my tires off. They referred me to Mr.Muffler where Eric was very friendly and assured me that they'd do everything that they could to fix the problem. Within an hour and a half they had gotten the lug nuts off, both tires off, and replaced three broken studs. I was so impressed with the service, I brought my car back a week later to have my heat looked at. They replaced my radiator and made sure to have my car finished by the end of the day. Okay, I'm not sure I believe all these reviews are real. The good news is they have a great manager working there now. His name is Dean. However, I took my Cadillac there to get the a.c recharged and thenthe battery started draining. My car ended up there for 3 months with them trouble shooting the problem which they never could fix. They ended up putting a kill switch on the car and that cost me $95. Then 6 months later there was a short in the kill switch and they said the car was perfectly fine and didn't need a kill switch at all and wanted to charge me $95 to disconnect it???? Needless to say the battery died after they disconnected it. Then...I bought my daughter a new used car and took it there to get the a.c charged forgetting what happened before...then today her battery is completely dead. read more

Over a year ago I got my oil changed at a place that totally screwed my car up. My Toyota Corolla has those stupid new plastic caps that I thought anybody would know since it yields thousands of basic Google searches you HAND SCREW/UNSCREW. Well, the place used a machine, over torqued the thing, and nobody could get it off again without risking breaking it. So I bought the part that needed to be replaced and had no idea what to do to get it fixed. I got my oil changed at somewhere that couldn't get it off to replace the filter and suggested that I come here. It literally took them 20 minutes to break the thing off, replace it correctly, and use my filter I haven't been able to replace and get new oil at a price I was really shocked by. They just charged me for a regular oil change, no labor to get the dang thing off. The mechanics were really knowledgeable and told me that they were glad I knew to never use anything but a hand held tool to get it off again. If I ever need work done on my car again, I definitely know who to call first. Their prices are fair,and the service was great! read more

I dropped off my daughters car for a quote on some repairs and received a phone call back I believe with in hours which is good but the quote was ridiculously high. Going on there word there was alot of work that needed to be done for the repair. I was hesitant but needed the car repaired asap because my daughter was home for the weekend from college so I said okay go ahead and start the job. I called back a very short while later to ask a question and was told that they were just about to call me back. Apparently the mechanic, upon reflection I guess, realized that there was more labor then he originally thought. He didn't start the job yet but surmised it'd be more work so ofcourse more money so the already high quote got bumped up another $250. So there quotes are really not quotes and realized that in fact it might even be illegal to bump up a quote after the fact. They probably figured if I was willing to pay the original high cost that whats a couple hundred dollars more. I told him Don't touch it I'm coming to get it. Upon me picking up the keys he had to know what I was going to do and where I decided to go. He went on to tell me the price is now negotiable. I took it elsewhere and got it done for a fraction of the price. I think it's pretty obvious what when here and it infuriates me. I won't be back there and advise you to stay away. The have been very helpful, professional and courteous. Although my 20 year old car is falling apart, they are helping me to keep it together at reasonable costs and time. Compared to my experience at Belle Tire this place was terrific. Paid $200 less than the quote from Belle Tire. I had been going to Belle Tire for about 20 years until the rip off I experienced in February and March. Had to go back three times. Took four hours to install two tires. An oil change with an appointment took an hour and a half. Here it was a half hour but they checked all the fluids which BT did not do. How do I know? In the middle of winter I had no heat. Caused by no anti freeze. Also had no window washer fluid. This is now my new place for work on my car. read more

At first I thought they were overly friendly but they seemed fake too... Eric said he was concerned about me driving home because I had a tie rod about to rust out ..However when I asked for a ride home he wouldn't give me a ride home. I think these people are fake friendly so they can rob people with money and anyone they can rob them blind. They wanted over $4,000 to fix my car. I went to another place for a second opinion and they said that the alternator and battery we're good ..Where as. I got out of there as fast as I could and took it to three other places near me and the diagnostic testing with all three places said there was nothing wrong with my alternator or battery!!!!!!. Came here to fix an exhaust leak, after an hour of waiting the mechanic came back and told me it was a bad exhaust gasket that was causing the problem and we agreed on putting in a new gasket and sealing it, later he comes out with my car and said he cut both flanges out and welded a piece on where the two flanges connected which is not what we agreed on, nor did he tell me he was doing this beforehand, he didn't even show me the finished work, you don't just tell a customer your going to do something to their vehicle and do something completely different without their consent. read more

A customer should not be told that they (Mr. Muffler) could not have caused a tire noise to occur after placing a car on a hoist when the noise was not there before coming here. Looking for a positive review for an honest repair shop --- READ THIS! I am all about, and in the business of providing world class client services as a traveling sales rep. This being said I drive about 1k miles per week as an average thus having confidence in a reliable vehicle plays a vital role in my daily operation. My check engine light went on while on a long drive so I immediately stopped at AutoZone whereby they scanned for the code telling me my catalytic converter may be bad or may just be a bad sensor, or maybe even just a gas cap and was cautioned to be aware of shops scamming to replace everything when it could be something very simple. Well I happen to have a Saab and they went bankrupt and have not needed service since so didn't really know where to go.... GM dealer was NO HELP even though it is a completely GM (Trailblazer SS) platform. I made some calls and I was fortunate to find Mr Muffler speaking with a very knowledgeable and professional Tim who is the Manager. I explained my problems (well at least the car related ones...) and he immediately called his tech Keith to scan for codes with a much better scanner. He said he didn't even want to talk about solutions or repair costs until we all know exactly what the code culprit is. He requested I come back next morning fitting me in on a Saturday short schedule. What happened next is why I am writing this 6 out of 5 star review..... I wasn't charged for the diagnosis -- he said even if I didn't choose them to perform work he wanted me to know the truth.... Really?! Well it worked for me as they are not only performing the work installing a new catalytic converter, but am trusting them with a much more labor intensive job installing new A/C blend door actuators which was told by GM dealer would take 6.5 hours @ $125 per! I think GM was playing on my emotions knowing without the repair would be without heat in winter......Well Mr. Muffler is only charging me 4 hours @ $90 per which is what the book calls for... Not sure where GM got 6.5??!! Not to mention before Keith (ASE Master Tech) performed the A/C work he researched it and even topped of my A/C freon and added dye to the system to confirm no other issues prior to putting the labor money into the job. NOW THAT'S WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER FIRST SERVICE GM DEALERS SHOULD LEARN FROM! Along those lines providing expert service is about earning trust, providing quality, and maintaining relationships ..... Everyone deserves to have a friend to go to when in need and when it comes to my vehicle(s) repair I feel like I have just found a new friend I can trust fully.... And they have much fresher coffee than the GM dealer! **So if you are online looking for a positive, honest review free of sniveling and retaliatory motives of a place you can trust who will perform honest, timely, and quality work at a more than fair price I strongly recommend you call Tim at Mr Muffler on Hall Road in Macomb (586) 954-1234 and tell him you read this review and want to experience the "not a dealership difference" for yourself.... Way overpriced shop. I called up Oreilys which is usually the highest price store and the exhaust pipe, bolts and gasket cost under $100 without haggling... they want $193.88 just in parts without tax or labor. You can for sure negotiate lower prices on top of their REGULAR PRICE! I told him I could go buy the parts and bring them here and pay him to install it and I still save $100. They wanted $340.19 including labor for less than an hours worth of work and that's being generous. Less than 5 bolts to change. If you think this is a good deal you deserve to have your money thrown away at this place. Any average person could put a new exhaust in on most cars.... usually less than 10 bolts or brackets to deal with. I even told the guy I can fix cars myself.... just put all new brake pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, shocks, struts, wheel bearings and ball joints. I was referred and told they would be reasonable and could usually just weld parts instead of replacing parts of exhaust. read more
