I wish I had read the reviews before wasting two hours of my life at this place. I called ahead and made an appointment at 11am, they told me it would take about 30 to 45 minutes to check the AC and find out the problem. I arrived about 10 minutes before my appointment. They guy I talked to named Angel, said it would take about 15 to 20 minutes to do an AC check and my car would be in the garage by 11am. I sat in the waiting area and at 11:20am my car still hadn't been brought in and the workers in the garage were all sitting around smoking, only one guy was working. I finally said something because I didn't have all day to sit there, which I told Angel when I checked in. A few minutes later they brought my car in. Then at about 12 they come to me with the issue and the price, I agree to have the car fixed so I could have AC and not suffer in this heat. They told me it would take 15 minutes. THEN at 12:45 I see my car still in the garage, no one is near it and no one has said anything to me about the status. I go to the front and the guy who had been helping me (I think his name was Brian), said idk whats going on and just walked away in the most rude way I have ever seen. I stood there for a few minutes while three people just continued to talk and said nothing to me. I finally asked who ran the operation and a man in a black shirt came over. He said apparently there was another issue with my car and the AC still wasn't working. Yet no one felt the need to let me know??? I told them I wanted my car immediately. I have never been so upset by the way I was treated. They were rude, inconsiderate and I honestly don't even know what I paid for. The worst part is I waited 2 hours and I still have NO AC in my car!!!! I seriously hope people read these reviews before going in there so they can save themselves the trouble. read more

Pep Boys is now my #1 auto mechanic store that I only go to in Dover especially after a really bad experience from autozone. Each and every single time I experience taken a vehicle to Pep Boys of Dover, I've never had a problem. I love the order online feature and pick up and pay in store service offered off of their website. It says me time and peace of mind. This recent trip was no exception, I received prompt ,courteous and fast service. I was in desperate need of a brand new battery in this bleak cold winter. Every single time I went somewhere my battery would die due to either the cable coming loose for some strange reason and the age of the battery. I brought this car the previous year and this is going to be my second winter with this vehicle. I was greeted by a very respectful and thought-full Service representative. She took ownership of my problem right away and within 25 mins. My order was already waiting for me at the counter, she called for a service tech to come and take care of my vehicle and I have not had to worry about a asking a oblique strange for help. Thank You Pep Boys from keeping me stranded in the cold. I would also like to note the time before that, They provided excellent service with my breaks, after I had absolutely, unquestionably grind my pads into the brittle chipping rotors. Our Saviors!!! On Friday August 13, 2021 as me and my significant other were driving home from our Ocean City Maryland vacation back to New Jersey we experienced a tire blowout on Route 1 in Delaware. We were literally stuck on the highway waiting for Triple A for four hours! We were so nervous that we would not be able to make it to Pep Boys on time to purchase a new tire. They close at 8pm and when we called and spoke to the manager Eric he told us that he would wait and not to worry. We got picked up at 7:45pm and the distance from where we were to the store was 30 minutes. He stayed at work and greeted us with a huge smile! That was one of the nicest and most generous acts of kindness that someone had done for us in our desperate situation!!! Eric and I apologize in advance if I have mistaken his assistants name! I believe his name is Justin. Both of them worked quickly and professionally to get us back on the road. As we we're getting ready to leave Justin noticed that one of our other tires was looking low and he checked it for a leak and what do you know!!?? We needed another tire replacement! Thank goodness for him checking because we would not of lasted more than 15 minutes on the road and the entire situation would have been more of a nightmare! I do not write a lot of reviews for any places simply because I have never been so impressed or unimpressed as to inform others but Angel changed that. As soon as he saw me walk up to the counter he gave amazing customer service. he made sure that I understood what was going on, explained everything without making it too simple as to insult me. I do know a little bit about cars but I am not a guru on them. I used to work customer service at the Home Depot until I got promoted and I always went the extra mile for customers, it felt nice to be receiving it. I also got an alignment and the tech took under an hour which also impressed me. Angel and the other associates there are good examples for other pep boys and automotive repair and parts stores to follow. Also Sears Auto didn't even try to get the sale. I asked for a quote and the associate was acting like the sale was already gone. that is the complete opposite of what I was expecting. Needless to say Pep boys just got a loyal customer thanks to Angel. Anyone reading this review, please at least try talking to the staff first before writing them due to the other reviews. read more

I bypass several Pepboys to get to your Dover Delaware location. I had lost all confidence in your service locations but found that your service center at the Dover Delaware location has regained that confidence thanks to Angel (service manager) and his crew. The first time I visited Pepboys Dover location was about 2+ years ago when I took my Honda Accord for service! I was not satisfied with the lack of customer service so Angel stepped up and diffused what could have resulted in a disgruntled customer and took care of me and what I needed. Because of that I convinced my husband to have his HHR serviced there and he was very pleased! Angel, for whatever reason, left Pepboys and we followed him to that location! Angel is back at Pepboys and we are back with the notion that we know Angel and his crew will give us the service we deserve! This is unbelievable, please read. I was not paid nor did I get anything for free.Well at the last minute I needed a brake light that blew on my drivers side. Pulled over once for that too. Called Pep Boys and Angel answered. I explained and asked how long a wait. He replied, shouldn't take a few minutes, could I come in soon. I said it would be a few hours. He said if it's really busy, he personally will do it then. Well a few hours later, I arrive and the wait time- an hour and a half. I decided I'd have to wait. Angel was on phone taking calls and how would he know I was there. I felt silly mentioning" Angel said to ask for him , if busy" but I did. Guess what? I didn't know who he even was, he comes out, said I talked to you, and then did it there and then. Total time: 15 min. He even said he left an extra bilb, and that I could easily replace it myself. Wow, he truly was an Angel! I would recommend this place for honesty, service, and living up to the spoken word!! read more

My car broke down with two flat tires on the right side. I was towed to Pep Boys and was so afraid they would closed before I got their. Luckily, Angel Serrano mentioned to me they would stay open, after hours, as long as they we gave them updates on where AAA was. We got there and immediately I was told I was in good hands. After a total of 15 to 20 mins my car was ready to go, and drove wonderfully. He even knocked off $20 from the bill. Everything helps and after waiting in the cold for 2 hours it was so comforting. We had the best experience and felt as though we had made personal friends with the employees and that they were concerned with our needs and well being. If i ever break down again I hope the service I receive is remotely close to the excellence and kindness I received last night. read more

I joined my girlfriend as she took her car here yesterday to get two of the tires changed. Angel, the man who was taking care of us, was very kind and generous. He gave us an expected wait time - 30-45 min - for the tires to be changed. This time was met perfectly, as we received a call that her car was ready no later than 45 minutes later. When we returned Angel noted that my girlfriend had ordered the wrong tires for her car, but the employees at Pep-boys - under the direction of Angel - made sure that her car received the correct tires at no extra cost to her. The service that we received was great, and it's a shame that Pep-boys has had such bad reviews - they did not reflect the incredible service that we were given. read more

this is the first yelp review i have ever left, but based on the service i received today, i had to say something. my husband went out of town last night, so naturally my vehicle messed up first thing this morning. i tried stopping by the dealership, but was told that they couldn't even look at it for a few days. so off i went to pep boys instead...totally frustrated. when i got there, angel & brian were absolutely wonderful!!! the mechanics were able to identify the problems & had my car ready to go in the 2 hours they said it would take to finish. thanks so much!!!! read more

I give it a five star because of a Mr. Serrano. He is great! I've had bad experiene before with the Boys, but it's a convenient location for me. Today I went to have the oild changed, totally expected I would be treated the same way but Mr. Serrano surprised me. The computer was down but Mr. Serrano was nice and patient. He didn't do any sighing, banging or cursing but smiling. Later when I picked up car, he explained about the reward card & coupons ... It was a nice experience! Angel, Brian and the mechanics that worked on my daughter's jeep, were knowledgeable and very friendly. We were upgrading her tires from the factory jeep wheels and tires to 35" mudders on black steel cyclone rims. We tried changing them on our own but had trouble when we twisted a lug nut into a mangled hunk of metal "Bob the Ugly Nut". We went to the PEP Boy Shop on Route 13 in Dover where Angel and the team easily removed Bob and the rest of the old stuff, mounted the new wheels and tires, did an alignment and made it a great experience all around. read more

I just had the work done today so I'm not sure of the quality of the mechanical service, but I want to take a moment to give and excellent rating for the sales person that assisted me. Went to Pep Boys and spoke to Casey to get an alignment on my 4x4 1/2 ton pickup, plus balance and install mud tires that we ordered online. The tech, Angel, who installed my tires, was very pleasant and did a great job. Eric, who performed my alignment, couldn't have been more thorough and professional! My husband and I were traveling to Delaware Beaches when our vehicle started to overheat, I was very nervous because we had our small children but as soon as we got to pep boys the manager made us feel very comfortable she told us our vehicle would be taken care of quickly. 5/22/15 Bought 4 new tires and got an oil change. I called before leaving home and talked with Angel Serrano this guy was very helpful with my tire choice and giving me the best for my dollar. Today i went to get an alignment in which i really did a number to my adjustment. I received exceptional customer service and customer care from Rich. I do not recall the mechanics name but he went out of his way to make sure my adjustment which was pushed to the left almost 2 degrees was back straight. Excellent customer service! My radiator drain plug failed while near Dover Pep Boys, I went in to find a replacement part. The employees went above and beyond by coming out to my vehicle and evaluating the problem -- radiator ended up needing pulled so the worked it in their schedule right away.
