I made an appointment to have new tires put in my car. I arrived at 9:30 am and was assisted by a very friendly person at the counter. I was told the process would take an hour and a half. I waited in the adjacent room. After about an hour and a half I was told that they were making great progress, they just had to balance and align my tires. 30 minutes pass and I ask what's going on? I was told that the guy who works on the tires only came in recently! I literally sat there for 90 minutes while no one worked on my car. It took over 3 hours to change my tires. No apology given. I would not recommend this Pep Boys. read more

Overall, these guys do a good job. I understand when it comes to auto shops, you are going to hear more about how things didn't go well vs when they do. I will say since I bring my electric cars in, they know who I am and treat me fairly. Once I was told they could do a service and after bringing the car in, they called me to tell me they could not. Do yourself a favor and AVOID PEPBOYS BROOKHAVEN AT ALL COSTS. I recently had my car inspected and an oil change at Pep Boys and I am highly unsatisfied. I will never bring my car back here or recommend anyone to come here for anything. First, I was ripped off for my oil change being charged $100 for the "recommended" oil... luckily they told me about a 25% off coupon for it, but still $75 for an oil change is a outrageous. Then they advised my car needs a new left front tie rod and wanted to charge over $500 to fix it... I told them I'll take it elsewhere to get the work done. They specifically told me to call back once the work is done and I'll only have to pay $13 for the inspection sticker. I took it to a local owned shop and paid only $122 for the work. When I called the Pep Boys to inform them the work has been done, I asked what the cost will be to confirm what I was already told and was now told $48 for reinspection. I told them they previously said $13 only for the sticker and was never informed about reinspection cost...why wasn't I informed? Such extremely poor communication. This pep boys provides good service on your car but the problem is they don't respect your time. Often the appointment is just a tool to have you on the books but they don't honor that time. They also will take advantage of your car being there by just letting it sit and they will get to it at some point. We dropped my wife car off one morning and they legit closed shop and never started the work.... no call or anything. We ended up getting her car with the spare key and taking it somewhere else. I have always been weary of big name mechanic shops and the horror story that come with them. But one day I needed to get all new tires for a car that I just purchased and no one had time to get me in. So I decided to try this Pep Boys, not only did they see me with no notice. They also made sure to give me the best price possible including all discounts and coupons. Thank you for that. Then there was a second issue where on a second vehicle that I have I needed all new sensors for my tires and I went into replace them all. Not only did they see me again with no notice, after verifying all of the sensors, instead of charging me for all four brand new ones like any other repair shop would've done. They informed me that two of them were still new and good and only charged me for two replacements. To each their own for sure but based off my conversation and experience, I wouldn't recommend. I made an appointment last week to have a tire rotation and an alignment. I got there a little early and they were happy to take me in and they let me know it could be a little bit and I understood, that wasn't an issue. Started to check in and in talking to the person at the counter about an alignment, I told them what I was looking for in the caster portion of the alignment. It was explained to me that caster is not adjustable, I explained that it was an I have 8 adjustable control arms and it is adjustable and asked if they were getting confused with the camber of a Jeep. The person stated they have been doing this for a long time and guaranteed me that caster was not adjustable. Caster is adjustable, exactly what adjustable control arms are designed. Unfortunately too many companies put someone up front to talk to customers that don't know what they're talking about. read more

In August I came in to have 2 electrical cams put in. The estimate was almost $2000! You should stop charging people retail prices for parts when we can get them wholesale! Then charge a crazy amount for labor when you have stolen a whole day away from me. I went to another mechanic (Mercury Fleet) charged a little over $50 for each part (this was the wholesale price, I checked), then estimated 3-4hrs for labor but was done in less than 3hrs! Total paid $500 to your $2000 and my car runs great! Fair & Honest. Idk what y'all are doing over there. The guys at Walmart Auto look more busy than your guys. I returned in Feb this year to get my car inspected. No surprise that I was given a laundry list of repairs needed. They took 3-4 hrs to tell me this smh. I made an appointment. I will not be returning for anything! I went in to get a regular oil change for my car scheduled for 1 PM and arrived at 12:45, waited about an hour and a half for my car to be finished in the shop. And once it was finally done, I started driving car back home when I heard my skid plate at the front of my car start grinding on the ground! I pull over and quickly find out that they hadn't put back the screws that they took out to get to my oil pan! I called them to let them know and they said they would fix it (as they should considering they're at fault). And my whole 30 minute drive back it was scraping on the ground and I was afraid of what could happen if it had broken off. When I arrive I told them i would like to speak to the manager, and they told me if they believe my skid plate needs to be replaced they will do it. After they replaced the screws they told me their mechanic did it wrong, but not to worry about it because its now "okay" and "accidents happen". My life was at risk and I get told its okay and accidents happen? No compensation was given to me for this inconvenience and for the damage to my skid plate. I came in for an oil change appointment, they said they couldn't do it without ordering a part so I came on the following Monday after receiving a call that say they got the part. so I come in, and the lady says without even checking that they can't change my oil cause I have to order a part and the one they have is meant for somebody else. so I told them I was called saying everything was fine and then the lady said the part was actually mine. no shit. then I leave and wait for a call back for when they finished. a man reached out and said they couldn't do the change so I come back and they say they are doing the oil change. I arrived at 4:30, & the girl didn't even help me for 10 minutes bc she was too busy talking with her coworker about gossip. DON'T GO HERE, you'll regret it. They basically had my car for two weeks, I needed an inspection done and a water pump replacement. Water pump was fixed just fine. I waited in this establishment for an hour for the paper work to be complete.. she charged me an extra 16 bucks and couldn't get rid of the charge and at this point I was beyond aggravated and I said what do you want me to do here, i paid the extra 16 and I told her to give me the money back that I didn't even owe, she couldn't work the register or put in right info ..m (she couldn't find my registration for 15 minutes either) I left this pep boys thinking everything was done and complete. Wrong. My check engine light was on AND I didn't get new inspection stickers on my car. Now I know they had to move my car to the parking lot so they knew my check engine light was on and just didn't say anything. I called them right back and said the check engine light was on I was told to come back. I went in and the girl who was working the front basically said "what's wrong Jenna" I was floored and furious at this point. So whoever the guys name was that "looked" at my car when I came back was clueless and acted like he was too good to do anything. The guy that "fixes the cars" left an hour early before the place was even going to close. Couldn't even tell you his name, he's never around to answer questions. When the guy was looking at my car I told him about inspection stickers and he had no idea what I was talking about. I was told then to leave my car AGAIN after what seemed like a month. Nothing was ever communicated correctly. I called the next day and they NEVER answer their phones ever. I finally got in touch with someone after calling on and off for two hours to get an update on my car. The woman who picked up the phone had no idea what I was talking about or who I was. She said to me "oh I've been trying to figure out who's spare key this was" now If I didn't call these ppl they would of never known my car was there or had to be looked at again. SO after all of this BS they told me I now have to go to a dealership. I don't understand what their issue is there but they have to get it together. That place is chaotic from start to finish. Worst customer service I have EVER gotten. The first did not change my tire properly that the bolt came off my tire and almost caused me to get into an accident driving to work (I work in philly commuting from Delaware county). had to come back 3 days later for them to tighten it. On top of that one of the techs stole $100 out of my wallet in my car after ransacking the entire care looking for a part INSTEAD of asking me. The tech asked me after the fact he stole my $100. Not Only did pep boys put my life in danger by sending me off with an inappropriately fixed tire (which is outrageous they charged me $208) they then STOLE FROM ME. An investigation is open but nothing else has been done. No compensation for them initially incorrectly fixing my tire or apologies for the inconvenience of me needing to go back again and then NO immediate action aside from the investigation for my stole money. Ordered new AT tires online for my truck in may and took it in only to be told hours later that they sold my tires to someone else and they put different, more expensive tires on instead. I was impressed by the selection and service at this store. Went there needing replacement bulbs for one of my headlight and the attendant was smart enough to point out another electrical discrepancy, a corroded relay, that could have resulted in another burned out bulb shortly after replacement. Saved long-term damage. Then on my next visit, I wanted new fog lights and they have an outstanding selection and they installed them in less than two hours. When it comes to gadgets and stuff for my car, I'm one of their fans. read more

I've been meaning to write this for a couple of weeks.... I ran in to this Pep Boys to get an air filter for my car. I figured I'd bring it home and let the boyfriend handle it. After I wasn't sure which exact model of car I drive, the parts manager (Mike?) walked out to my car with me and checked. Not only did he check, but he actually removed my old one, rang me up for the new one and put it back in my car! As I learned then and there, its not terribly difficult to change an air filter, but I was floored by the exceptional service and had to speak up. No one around to help. Took a guess at my options. Went to rear counter to confirm my product choices, two male employees behind the counter watching football youtube videos. Ignored me completely for about 5 minutes. Unbelievable. Finally, 50+ year old, short, Hispanic man, with a cart of product to stock approached and offered to help. A large store with hometown service.... After a huge snowstorm, finding things I needed for a snowblower was looking bleak. I went to Pep Boys and Keenan helped me look for a gas can. Nope, none left. That was the end of the story. But no...Keenan took a gas can the store uses and said bring it back in an hour when you're done, no problem! Not to mention I called before I got there about gas siphons and not only did they still have them in stock, they set one aside for me. I don't normally write reviews but I had to take a minute to give a huge 2 thumbs up to the service advisor at the Pep Boys in Brookhaven. I came in for what sounded like I was dragging a cardboard box under my right front tire. The advisor Mickey was slammed with work, there by himself and the customers ahead of me were really annoyed and giving him a hard time. Apparently 2 mechanics had called out sick and the service dept was really backed up. He never lost his cool. I was extremely impressed with how collected and professional he stayed. I can't say I would of been able to do the same with how the customers were treating him. I figured they'd be too busy to help me but when it came to my turn, I explained the issue and Mickey asked to go right out and look at the issue. He saw the problem (some kind of engine shield/backing plate was hanging down and rubbing my tire) and went into the shop for a minute and came out with a few things. He secured it back up with zip ties right there in the parking lot and had me back on the road in less than 10 minutes. He was super nice and so helpful! Thank you so much Mickey! You saved the day! There is a manager there, his name is Todd. He is literally the best! Brought my car in to get my battery tested bc my car kept turning off. He suggested that we do a full test and not just the battery test. It came back that it was my starter...500.00. I was just going to pay it, and the manager decided to stay late to do the job for me, which was also great. He calls me an hour later and says I didn't need a starter, I just had a loose cord.....If I would have taken it somewhere else..they would have easily charged for the starter without even looking futher..He saved me 500.00!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER GO HERE! Recently I brought my Subaru to this pep boys location for a very simple tire change and alignment. I chose this pep boys because the tire prices were very fair and they could fit me in. When I got my car back not only were there multiple nicks/scratches in my rims but they also filled all 4 tires to MAX capacity and failed to fully tighten one of my lugnuts which is a huge safety concern. To make matters worse I called them multiple times to rectify the situation and kept getting the same response of "I'll talk to my tech and call you tomorrow" which they never did. I'm not sure what kind of techs/mechanics they employ here but if they can't get that right I sure wouldn't trust them to wrench on anything else.
