I've taken my vehicle to Pep Boys several times over the course of the past year, and unfortunately, I have been disappointed with my service each time. Lack of communication is a big problem at this location. On a previous visit, I had my car towed in on a Sunday, at which time I called to let them know what the issue was. I followed up again on Monday morning, because I know that there is likely different staff on the weekdays. I was given an attitude and was told something along the lines of "I'll let the mechanics do their job". Then when I talked to them later that day, after already telling two people what the issue was, the person on the phone asked "so, uh, what's the problem with your vehicle?" Unbelievable. On that same topic, they aren't good about calling to let you know what is going on with your vehicle. If you don't make it a point to call in and check, you could be without your car even longer than expected. Also, on both of my previous two visits, they did not hold the appointment time that I scheduled. My car was not pulled in for nearly two hours after the appointment time on both occasions. It's pretty clear they have trouble staffing this location. On a previous visit, I brought my car in early on a weekday. My car was not finished, and I was told they couldn't complete it for another two days because the person who was a specialist in that area was going to be off. On top of these things, every service that I've had done has taken way longer than expected. I think they people that they have may be doing their best, but lack of capable mechanics along with poor communication result in unacceptable service. I highly recommend u don't go to this place. Management is terrible. Went in for simple oil change didn't no what they were doing drained my transmission fluid instead. So after an hour they messed up u think they would tell me absolutely not. Then after getting my car back all the lights come on check engine oil light mind u when I brought the car in didn't have one light on. I am LIVID AND HIGHLY DISPLEASED WITH MY SERVICE. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday with a 1030am appt. Patiently waited thru the day for someone to call me, 7pm comes and I decide to call to get an update. The shop was closed! No one even called me to give me any sort of update on my vehicle that had been there for 9 hours. I called in the morning and asked for an update and was told "hang on I need to type up an estimate and I'll call you", 30 minutes later they call me. Now,'to back track I brought my car in for a ticking noise.... The employee, Jesse, tells me the ticking is due in part to bad lifters and they're not "worth repairing", however the check engine light is due to a misfire in spark plugs so we recommend a tune up in addition to the oil change you've requested. Quoted me at 1,400! I said "do it". I pick my car up and here's where the problems really start, he informs me my engine oil dipstick broke DURING MAINTENANCE but they don't have the dipstick in store, so recommended I get one at auto one. ok, fine. I go and get into my car 1- the check engine light is still on, 2- the oil change sticker was never replaced with the new date or mileage (which ok nit picking here) 3 the ticking noise is 50 times worse. so I just paid $1400 to drive away with a car in WORSE condition then how I brought it. fast forward 2 days I went to auto zone (I work night so my days are a little wword) to get an engine oil dipstick only to find THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK BROKE OFF ON THE VEHICLE- was never told this. Now I call and speak to this Jesse guy and explain all of the issues. he tell me the dipstick is a ME PROBLEM NOT A THEM PROBLEM. even though he literally told me 2 days before it was broke during maintenanbe. he also told me the check engine light is most likely something else but being the car in and he'll take a loot at it and DRAW ME UP A NEE ESTIMATE. I'm sorry, what did the $1400 I just paid you pay for? because my vehicle is worse than it was when I brought it in. I will NEVER BRING MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER PEPBOYS, I will post this information on every single social media platform I possibly can. this is absolute BS, terrible customer service and honestly hadn't been a male I probably would have been treated differently. read more

Had booked an appointment for oil change at 5PM(store closing hours is at 7PM). I was there on time, waited to get the oil change done for an hour and 15 minute and returned the car key since they had no one to change the oil. I called to get a quote for mounting a single tire. I was given a price and told they could tend to my car this afternoon. I arrived a little early but waited patiently. My appointment time came and went. I sat in the lobby for over an hour before my car made it into the bay. I tried several times from my arrival to the time they started working on my car. Toward the hour and a half mark I once again went to see what was going on and was told by one of the employees to stay in the lobby. I was not trying to be a pain in their butts, I just wanted to know what was going on. The employee said he was giving me a free lug nut (I hadn't realized I was missing one) but he seemed very upset. I got what I came for in the end, but I was not happy with the experience. read more

This was not a very good experience. The appointment for tires was for 12:00 pm, but they didn't start until 1:00 pm. I stopped in after having lunch at a nearby pub and was told that I needed front disc pads; the rear pads were not as bad and could wait for a while. The estimated cost climbed to $1500.00. I okay'd the additional work. When they called to say the job was finished, the cost was $1667.00. I gave them a coupon for 10% off, but the system didn't apply it. The clerk didn't seem to know how to fix the issue, so I was promised free oil changes to make up the difference. I won't be coming back to this store. read more

Listen I don't expect too much from Pep Boys. I only take my vehicle there for tires so to have a distasteful experience should have been unlikely. Evidently I busted the TPMS sensor on my Pep Boys tire and thought it would be an easy fix which it was. My gripe is that of the service person being messy and did not complete the work- as if I was interrupting their day. Something as small as not putting shrader caps back on the tires and when I asked about it he placed 4 of them in the palm of my hand?! My husband raves about the service here, as it was an awesome experience! We were going out of town and the car need to be fixed as soon as possible, (so it was an emergency). As my husband called, no one picked up the phone. But then he got a call back immediately, and Eric was awesome. Frist, let me say this as you call a place for service, and they don't pick up immediately that is a good sign (meaning they are busy and have many requests; I mean think about it when you call a bakery that are busy taking orders because they are that good!) Anyways Eric, was very helpful, knowledgeable and wasn't trying to gain more money. Frist off, Eric answer all the questions/concerns over the phone, was very through and stay as long as possible to assist, and was able to see us that very moment. There was no "come by tomorrow or leave your car overnight". The car needed work on tires, and Eric was able to fix the brakes too. When going to a machinic its hard to know if they will scam you, and if they would get the job done correctly. Not with Eric, he is not a scam and he also offered alternatives. The value of service from Eric is beyond what you expect. They do everything here, as my husbands recommends this place highly as we are very pleased with the service. Please go to Eric as well. Do not trust anyone at Pep Boys. I took my Acura MDX to Pep Boys in Beverly, NJ for what I thought was an oil leak. After it was looked at by the " mechanic", Gary from Pep Boys called me & told me it was the valve cover gasket. I told him okay, repair it.{ I had requested that my battery be checked & replaced if necessary. I requested an oil change also. Gary from Pep Boys called again the next day & told me it is Not the valve cover gasket, it is the power steering pump! So, I told him okay, fix it. He told me it would be $700. So a few days later, I paid Pep Boys $700, picked my suv up& went home. My vehicle had a leak again!!!!!!! No sticker on windshield to indicate next oil change date/ mileage. Code came up to change oil also, code Was Not Taken Off by mechanic after oil change either. So I took my suv back, this time Gary told me it was the power steering hose that needed to be replaced & it would be $300 for the Acura power steering hose & Pep Boys had to order hose from Acura, it took four {4} days for hose to get there. So after a power steering pump & a power steering hose were installed I went to pick up my truck the second time. When I get there the Service Manager assisted me & was not very polite or professional. I questioned him about the note he wrote on the work order. The work order said there was " seepage " from the transmission or the engine & he said, " We don't do that work". WHY IS THERE ANY LEAK/ SEEPAGE after I just took my suv to Pep Boys twice?????!!!! I was in shock, disgusted, disappointed & very disturbed!!!! Gary never mentioned there was " seepage" when he called to tell me the hose was installed & I owe another $300!!!!! WHY??? Why WASN'T I TOLD ABOUT this " seepage" issue BEFORE I PAID $700 , BEFORE A POWER STEERING PUMP & A POWER STEERING HOSE WERE INSTALLED???!!!! The General Manager, Jamie was extremely rude, very unprofessional & a very angry character when I interacted with him twice over the phone & in person this afternoon when I went to pick up my suv. He straight face lied to me about my vehicle having " seepage". If the vehicle was diagnosed & repaired properly by a certified mechanic at Pep Boys there would be no leak or " seepage!!!! Needless to say, Pep Boys is lacking adequate certified mechanics to diagnose & repair vehicles! 2nd time i made an oil change apt and when i get there they tell me they're swamped and they're short on staff or someone called out. Even suggested i go to jiffy lube. I was a little skeptical about this particular shop for a while. I never wrote a review but they lied to me about rotating my tires once on my VW Jetta. Anyway besides telling me it was gonna be over 2 hour wait because of the staff the guy also had an attitude like he was mad i was there for an oil change. I won't return. I went to swap a car battery, and they snuck a $10 charge for a calendar I never asked for. First they told me the total charge (but didn't break it down into an itemized charge), then I signed for it, and then they gave me the receipt with a calendar, saying "and here's a calendar", as if it was free. Then when I got home, I noticed on the receipt that they had charged me $10 for the calendar, and by then it was too late to go back, because they were closed. Came to see if they could do a diagnostic for my car cause of check engine light. First they tell me I have to leave the car cause they wouldn't see it till 2pm I said I can't but I set up an appointment early when they open to come in. Roll in for appointment drop car off apparently and it's not until I called at 12:44pm they are on it. I understand if there were other cars ahead that's fine but a simple computer check shouldn't take nearly 8 hours without any updates on if it's being seen yet or when to pick it up. The one star is for the simple fact that I was refused service because the mechanics don't know much about the kind of truck I have - which I appreciate because I'd rather have experienced hands working on my vehicle. However, what's left to be desired is their customer service. I made an appointment where I explicitly specified the make and model of my truck. They conveniently told me after I went through the trouble of driving after work and during rush hour that they don't service Land Rovers. Basically, the man wouldn't even LISTEN to me and immediately told me to "go to the dealership" I thought he was quite rude and had a terrible attitude. I also would have appreciated a phone call to let me know they couldn't help me prior to me hauling a** there. Huge waste of time. Worst service ever. Droped my car at 9:30 for a 10:00am appointment for oil change. Was told it will be ready in 45 min. Called back at 12:15 to check if its ready, was told I can pick it up in another half an hour. Went there at 1:10pm to pick it up but it was not serviced yet. My car was not even moved from the spot where I parked it in the morning. I finally cancelled the service request. Will never go back here and recommend others as well to go to nearby GoodYear which provides a much better service for the same or lesser price. read more

Great experience this morning. I set an appointment to have new Cooper tires installed. They didn't have the tires in stock. Instead of trying to reschedule, Jamie Towey (Service Manager) upgraded my tires to a better model (more expensive, higher mileage) from Michelin at no charge, just for the inconvenience! Called this location over the phone Monday night before coming in, probably around 5:50pm. I spoke with someone in service and told them I had a cord hanging from underneath my truck that I was concerned about. I was told I could bring my truck right in and they would take a look at it for me. I arrived probably 10-15mins after calling, went inside, waited at the service desk maybe for about alittle over 5mins before leaving. I was never greeted, nobody asked "how can we help you". Their was two guys behind the service desk and tons of workers just around nearby. No help at all. Wasn't even acknowledged. So definitely poor customer service. I definitely wouldn't go to any Pepboy location after this. May be a bit petty but excellent customer service is one of the things that make you a little comfortable about a place you never been before. read more

I had an appointment at 8am to have new tires and an oil change done to my truck. I was told my truck would be ready in an hour. At 9:53 I got a call that they weren't able to locate the lug lock remover to take the old tires off. When I asked why they wouldn't have called sooner, the manager said because they didn't want to inconvenience me. It was obvious from the demeanor of the manager that he could have cared less that was I unhappy with the overall level of service. I have not used Pep Boys in a long time because I had a bad experience several years ago. Thought for sure service would have improved, but I was wrong. I will not be using them again...there are just to many other retailers that make customer service a priority. read more

Called at around noon to get a quote on having some belts replaced and tires installed. They told me I could come in that day. Showed up 30 minutes later to find they were having a classic car show in the Parkin lot. They started on my truck immediately and finished all the work in record time (45 minutes) and were incredibly friendly and helpful and the final price came in actually lower than the estimate. It was one of the best auto repair experiences I've ever had, and even though it's a little further from my house this is now my first choice for auto parts shops. The car show was also great, with a live band and some pretty awesome cars. can't wait for the next one! read more

This used to be my favorite Pep Boys, but that has has all changed. My last experience consisted of a very nasty manager who didn't want to honor my extended warranty. Sales people trying to up sell every single item possible and lastly had to have my bill adjusted due to the services performed I never asked for. Pep Boys corporate asked me to do a survey, I did and told them about the problem. Unfortunately, nothing to my knowledge was done. I went for prices on some work I needed done and they over quoted me by suggesting things I did not need because I'm a young woman. I know Exactly WHat I needed to be fixed. so I decided to just get my oil change there and get my other work elsewhere. I made an Appointment for newt day at 530. I arrived on time and they tell me It's an hour and 40 min wait. So What's the point of the Appointment? And I also have a priority fleet account which is supposed to give me first priority to an available bay.
